@Natty:
(The Melancholy of that bitch)
This is pretty much the best thing I've ever read.

so I'm not missing anything in not watching that anime?
awesome
I hate when members of evil groups backstab each other or simply are too different to work together properly. Why can't they have a solid purpose to join forces like the main characters? That their ideals are against the ones of the main characters is not enough reason to make them "evil" in an overly stereotyped way. Hell, maybe that's why I like the Blackbeards, they are surely as solid as the Strawhats for what we've seen so far.
Other things I hate are the ridiculous Handsome, smart, popular characters that pretty much are too "perfect" to make the reader believe that the other characters could be of some use in a specific situation.
And characters shouting atack names are annoying at times. :P
I would rather change "Jet Gattling" for some badass line involving Robin's sad past, Lucci's vision of Justice, and Luffy's determination for not letting anyone to takw away his precious nakama. XD
For some reason it always bothered me when anime characters had like cat ears or fox ears and tails and whatever. It's called Kemonomimi, I think.
- Like smellyfeet mentioned, names on attacks. It gets annoying when you have to shout out an attack every time before you use it. Also gives the person shouting it a disadvantage; the opponent already knows what they're going to use.
Ha, something funny, in Buso Renkin, one of the supporting characters asks why the main character yells out his attack names before he attacks. It's actually kind of a funny scene, because he turns the conversation around, and it's mentioned that doing something like that provides a psychological boost in real life or some shit. I dunno.
Anyways… People whose personalities change on a dime for no reason. Jade Curtiss (Tales of the Abyss) and Vash are good counter examples of this, because they're always silly to hide their extraordinary power.
What I hate probably more than anything in the anime fanbase is people who always go on (explicitly or inexplicitly) about how anything they read or watch needs to contain a deep statement on humanity and have tons of character development and be really freaking DEEP because anything else isn't good enough for them. It's even worse when they apply these same standards to shonen of all things. I swear, I just want to hit them off their high horse and make them read a book.
Random flashbacks to previous episodes that have little or no relevance to what's actually going on. Like that One Piece episode where Kokoro's running down the corridor and says "I think I'll have a 3 minute long flashback about Franky's past now"
The only thing that I can think at the moment are:
-Badass protagonists, who rarely loses and makes forced speeches about peace, life and friends. Unless the speech is well-made, it's okay, but still annoys me when the character just gives a few moves in his/her enemy and then… KOed
-Villains with no interesting personality or a weird-like behavior, only badass look and heartless actions. That's why most of the villains of Yuyu Hakusho were so boring, in my opinion.
-Bitches that keeps yelling and bullying her friends, and cries when is forced to fight a tough guy. Yeah Nami, I'm talking with you.
Hmmmm….annoying things, huh?
Well, I would have to agree that the whole 'big boobs' and no personality thing tends to piss me off, although I still hold hope that Mutsume (LH) is an exception.....hey, I like her. Still, I'd rather have characters like Osaka (AD) and Haruhi (Ouran).
Violent females like Naru (LH). Seriously, its not funny anymore and most people would probably hit you back nowadays. Stop being an emo female. Leave violence to the quiet ones.....if I am allowed to use Hermione as an example here. -_-; (I won't be giving anything away, so relax).
No training sessions; they're just boring.
Let a depressed guy take the stand as a protagonist, like Sato (NHK).
Split personalities are annoying, but don't overdo it; Vash's personalities (I think) were both honest extensions of himself rather than a gimmick.
If you must bring a character back to life, put something up in return at least (am I the only one willing to compliment Naruto on making a revival technique that isn't like the fail-safe dragonballs? Sure it was an old lady, but still...)
Don't make bad guys back stab each other: at least Akatsuki and some pirate crews are showing some discipline in this area, and are even forming friendships (Kisame seems pretty cool with Itachi).
Bad guys taking over the world is alright by me (although as far as 'purpose' goes, the Major's (Hellsing) plan outranks any plan I've seen so far).
Improvise battles where strength is one sided--that's why I like Usopp so much.
Write a romantic comedy thats actually clever (Kare Kano to a certain extent, and definitely Ouran).
And finally, no magical girlfriends. Please.
This is all my opinion.
.......And I have no idea who (or whom) I'm writing all this for.
What's amazing is that I just read 6 pages, found no reason against the 3 anime I try to get people [outside of AP] to watch, yet nobody watches them or they say they suck after watching a little.
At first I thought I might be crazy, but now I know some fuck is missing in those idiots' brains.
Aaaaand what I hate:
-ANY damn Japanese culture being used over the edge. -> any Romance anime. This includes To-Love-Ru [overrated shit] and various other stuff who feature the same thing with people who look different.
I could even dare to say I'm sick of seeing people get their shoes out before they enter a house because of the floor.
And EVERY single grandpa is some dumb cocky bastard not agreeing to anything the youngsters try to convince him for.
…etc.
That got a huge stone out of my heart.. I so needed to say that.
Thanks.
@Rai:
And EVERY single grandpa is some dumb cocky bastard not agreeing to anything the youngsters try to convince him for.
.
Give an example here because I know I would rather just stick with what I think then you know, LISTEN TO A KID.

this, very this.
How the Hero in most anime has victory handed to him on a silver platter and the rival gets the short end of the stick
@DougyDougyGiro!*:

Well, what will you do to same grandpa if a huge mecha monster crashed the town and he'll yell at you "Leave me alone! I can handle by myself!"?
Leave em be.
16 alligator sisters.
I hate whenever evil characters lick their lips to look more evil. Or lick blood, knives, etc.
I also hate flashbacks constantly interrupting the action.
LOL! I remember this ep. of Slam Dunk; the glasses guy throws the ball and then the remaining 15-20 mins of the ep. are flashbacks of his before the ball gets into the net.
Kabuto: So, what are we going to do tomorrow, Orochimaru?
Orochimaru: Same thing we do everyday, kidnap/seduce and then molester young boys who haven't reached puberty!
That's more like it. BTW Orochimaru doesn't want to takeover the world IIRC, he just wants to gain all Jitsus in the world or something like that.
This line kinda outlines one of the things Ihate in animes- "I lost a card game! I no longer have a reason to live!"
@Cryinghon:
Anime needs more ugly, freakish main characters. Or old, bald guys. No more of this lame archetype nonsense.
Hokuto no Ken and JoJo's B. A. have just what ud look for!
@Pass:
Other than what you've listed, there's little else an egomaniac or megalomaniac could want to accomplish.
Johan, Y. Kira & Diavlo/Dioablo have somewhat unique motives/stuff they want to accomplish.
Ohhh ! I just thought of something that I hate.
When characters run with their arms just behind them.
I just always thought it looked really lame to run like that.
@Rai:

u walk around in ur house with shoes on? :wassat:
All you have to do is look at Bleach and Naruto to find out what's wrong with anime.
i dislike the fact that allies of the protagonist ends up being so weak and useless later on the series when there are potential for them to get much stronger
(e.g. Leorio from HXH, Chad from Bleach)
About the shoes thing. I think thats a Japanese custom to do that plus it might be common courtesy.
Yeah, I thought everyone knew you're suppose to take off your shoes before entering a Japanese home.
His point was he dislikes seeing it happen. Really can't tell him otherwise.
but yea, I hate watching those "lover's quarrel" comedy scenes. Especially when they happen every episode, making inuyasha all the more unwatchable.
I also hate forced, cliche anime humor. but I don't dislike it as much as I hate reading people comment on forums "Liek OH EMM GEE, I was ROFLing so much when sakura punched naruto. SHANNARO!!!"(based on an actual response)
I also dislike really predictable cliche scenes. I'm not one of those guys who goes and hates stuff because someone else did it, but I dislike seeing things that everybody did. Like the arrogant "badass" bishie archtype of character. It's like they designed these guys for s certain fanbase, instead of creating looks and characters to fit the storyline.
Lastly, I hate untranslated words in translations that are overused by ENGLISH speaking fans in conversations in ENGLISH. Like "KAWAAAAAAAAAAAI!!" and the overuse or nakama in just about every scanlation now. K-F did it for one piece. We don't need to leave it untranslated in scans, let alone in naruto and Bleach ones.
The fans - "OMG, let's complain about everything no matter what. We can be beggars and choosers. Also, let's pretend we're far superior to every other fanbase and judge them accordingly."
The generic sword delay defeat AKA - The way Zoro defeats all his opponents. The shit were the screen cuts away, then Zoro appears behind the opponent, then sheathes his sword, at which point they die.
Shonen comedy in general. That includes Naruto, OP, etc. The jokes are horribly cliche and never funny.
The silent avenger and Goku-clone types. If I see another Sasuke or Luffy, it'll be too soon.
Random flashbacks in the middle of action. I'm looking at you Naruto and One Piece.
How many Son Goku clones are there & from where? Sorry I don't really see that many around in the anime/manga world.
well for shonen in particulary….
the ten minute hold on let me sit here and explain everything I just did including my powers so that you can find my weakness and own my ass in the next few episodes/chapters dialogue
Romance between main characters where they get shy and have embarassed rosie cheeks when a situation occurs (Ie:looking into each others eyes too long or accidently getting caught holding hands)-this goes for any particular anime
A supposedly weak character getting emo/enraged out of nowhere and suddenly starts ruining everybody's shit then goes back to being weak again(Only on rare occasions is it cool)
everything else has probably been said
How many Son Goku clones are there & from where? Sorry I don't really see that many around in the anime/manga world.
thats because you probably don't read shonen.otherwise your being sarcastic and Im to dumb to realize
well , there are some thing that bugs me in anime which are not realistic at all XD but funny in the same time :
1- no one is ugly.
2- no girl is fat.
3- 12-13 years old girls have super huge boobs.
4- they act like adults while they are only 8 years old. (during the sad childhood)
5-swellings go away after 1 sec.

Ohhh ! I just thought of something that I hate.

Me too XD like Naruto lol.
Wow, there have been very interesting things stated in this topic. And I agree with most of them.
Things in Anime/Manga that piss me off:
-Girls with Huge boobs: Just because they have huge boobs doesn't make them any better than the girls with no chest or a chest not the size of the freakin' moon! That pisses me off to no end. It's uncalled for. I could see if it suited her body …but Jesus FREAKIN' CHRIST! It's ...just a no...especially for Nami...D: I hate her. (And yes, I may be a bit jealous...)
-Dumbass main characters that stumble their way to victory. I'd have to expand on this...I've seen it before but when i think about it, Naruto and Luffy aren't that dumb. When it's time to get serious, they get serious. I'm thinking of someone who is weaker than their opponent, more than unlikely to achieve their goal, and some how...without even trying...they make it! D:
-Nami: Girls like her...and her! I hate it when she beats up people, I hate it when suddenly she claims she's too weak or too cute to fight. >.>; She has no problem beating up Luffy or anyone else on the crew, but when it's time to go save So and so from the big bad such and such gang...she's acting a damn fool. D:
-Flashbacks and Sad/Bad/Traumatic Childhoods: NO ONE FREAKIN' CARES YOUR PARENTS DIED IN A CAR ACCIDENT! IT'S OVER NOW! THEY WANT YOU TO MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE AND HAVE FUN WITH YOUR STUPID FRIENDS! I know that's kind of mean...but I'm tired of seeing that. "So and so's parents died in that tragic event that time! I was there!" says the old person. "I watched my family get slaughtered by that bastard" screams so and so about such and such. ...Get over it dumbass. It's done. I know I'm lucky to have my family and whatever...but...I'm a normal nerdy little dumbass girl...and I know that if something horrible happened to them (God forbid) I'd be able to stop my bitching and moaning and w/e else...and get on my own two feet. You're a freakin' anime character, you can jump off a building and like...live. XD I'm just...tired of seeing people flashback to like..."OMG LET'S GO PLAY ON THE SWINGS DADDY! " BOOM dad's dead! BOOM mom's dead. etc...D: damn flashbacks...so freakin' dramatic.
-I never really understood saying the name of your attack,but...I don't really pay attention to it anymore. I don't care.
-Annoying kids that want to be like the main character and his badass friend. They are annoying...as I have said...annoying and stupid and usually scruffy or ugly. I hate them...they're...annoying and stupid! xD
-Girls have no meat on them what so ever...unless the artist intends for them to be side characters or something. That pisses me off. Skinny girls aren't always cute. They usually don't have a shape, Nami's lucky that Oda gave her that perfect hourglass shape. Hrm, oh yeah and if the girl isn't skinny, she's huge. Can we come to a damn comprimise? I mean sheesh! I have yet to see a girl who is at least a bit chubby and cute. I always see big fat ugly girls and skin and bone huge breasts girls. (but Kokoro isn't that ugly to me...for some reason...maybe I'm used to her.)
-Stupid ass fans that think they know everything...and the fanbases where no one knows what the fxck they're talking about..they're just there to bitch and moan about little things that no one else cares about. oh ...and fans that can't spell the names of their favorite characters....I saw someone spell Sanji -> Sanjee...I dunno where the hell that came from. (I'm sorry if I'm being over dramatic. D: )
-Someone dies and then comes back...and then dies and then comes back...wtf is that shit all about? Speaking of death, I don't like it when a character does die for good...and there was barely any need for it. ;-; I don't like it when good characters die.
-When there are way to many badasses in the show. D: I can't choose! even if some of them aren't cute...I still <3 them
-Fanservice...it can ruin a good anime/manga.
-harems...and when a bunch of girls like this one guy...and he's not even worth their attention.
I think I typed enough....for now.

I might be betting here since it wasn't a REALLY reliable source, but not so many as you think. Skycrapers and shit are everywhere.

o_o
~Ramza:
Not in my own of course, but can you expect some old lady coming for a cup of tea to weap slippers you bought? x_x Or for that matter, buy 20 of them to just sit in there waiting for friends?
Hell, police do that right after someone murdered in front of your eyes in Conan.

i understand ur conan example…but i have no clue on ur old lady coming in to "weap" (???) slippers... :wassat: well if there are slippers lying around the house...i think the owner probably wants people to use them as oppose to buy them just to waste money
but i would take off my shoes when i go in my house...JUST IN CASE...there are things on the streets i happen to step on without noticing...
When characters cackle
It"s become a ritual for villains
A mute will mysteriously and temporarily gain the ability to speak just so they can cackle _
15. Fan Service And other perverted things - If it's for comedy and done every once in a while it's fine but otherwise ugh…
16. When characters have a certain ability that isn't theirs or is but is super overpowerd and if the characters didn't have it he or she would be nothing!
17. Overpowerd enemies that beat down everyone including the main character and are a total pain in the Heine quarters to defeat
18. repetitive story line, It's O.K. to have a formula sometimes but you need to be able to mix it up and bring something new to the table.
How about the fans?
Or did someone beat me to it?

Well I agree with most of those. However, I really don't see the problem with the tragic past thing. Sure it's in every anime ever but I've never once found it annoying.
As for the huge boobs thing. I don't mind that either but I guess that's just because I'm a guy.
I guess some things I hate in anime is well… when characters get overly angsty especially about a person. (see post time jump Naruto)
I hate plot induced stupidity or plot no jutsu where basically an enemy is hyped up only to be taken down in the stupidest way possible (see Hidan and Kakuzu. Oh and cross reference it with Naruto vs Kiba.)
I hate it when an author put's in undertones such as "hard work surpassing genius" but then goes back on it. (see Rock Lee)
and while I don't mind the comedy There are I admit several stupid moments such as the casual perverted character. I mean I didn't mind Roshi doing it but it seems forced in the Naruto series. Sure Sanji has his moments too but I actually find his antics rather amusing. Even if it was ridiculous that he wouldn't fight Calipha.
Hmmm I'll need to rack my brain to think up more.
I've seen too much drama…it annoys the hell out of me ... though I do succumb to it...and feel bad ...D:
I agree with that about the fights being hyped up and then a stupid move is what brings down the opponent.
Lol, angsty...
I wonder. We are complaining about things that we see too much in the stuff that we read and watch. Maybe we need to read some shojo or w/e else is out there...(forget the names of the other catergories.) O.o I know most of you probably do that already. But I've noticed that I like reading anything with a guy as the main character...shonen and w/e is in that broad catergory...(again...forget the names)

I think drama in a story can be good. Except when it's freakin' overdone. Like in the case of Sasuke.
It's not about the fight being hyped up. It's how the villain is hyped up to be this "super powerful badass who can kick ass and take names like it's nothing" only for said same villain to lose easily to a bunch of kids. Again just like Kakuzu. Itachi seems to be the only one who actually is written into that role as well considering he hasn't lost like a pussy yet.
er well I'd never read shojo… too many bishounen's and inuyasha style crappy romance for my tastes. Though I could use a little more Seinei. Sure I'm liking stuff like Saiyuki but I think I need to get into more of the non shounen action and fantasy series.
I dislike the random flashbacks that appear where ever they want, like in the middle of a fight.
Female characters with the most amazing body (boobs, butt, etc.). Make her realistic!
When a character can do amazing things that everyone says is impossible (bleach).
When the main character kicks the living hell out of a villian after everybody spent the last five episodes saying how strong he was.
I hate random flashbacks the most in an over dramatic story.
The artstyle. I actually just realized I absolutely loathed typical anime/manga artstyle, especially the female characters with gigantic eyes. Or the typically "cute" characters. It almost infuriates me.
Which is incidentally one of the reasons why I like One Piece, and other mangas like Berserk, because of their unique artstyle.
@Cyringohn:
You disgrace the almighty Jack Spicer.

Same, pretty much. What's worse are the countless hacks who try to emulate it to draw attention to their crap.

The above type of anime fangirl annoys me. :getlost:
@Pass:
Who the fuck is that?
This guy.
Anyway, to the topic: I definitely agree with how annoying the generic anime look can be. Although the art style isn't the first thing I look for in a story, (that's characters, for me) it still can help to pull me in or not. I do like the contrast of the generic anime-looking designs of the girls in Higurashi with the overall tone of the show, though.
One thing that annoys me but that I've gotten used to with One Piece is the yelling out of attack names. It's always seemed so odd to me for someone to announce what they're about to do. That's all I got for now, I'll probably be able to think of more later.
