Just say some of your fondest memories or your fav games for it since both of these are starting to go extinct. :(
This includes GBA, GCN, XBOX, and any others that are now extinct.
Remembering Old Consoles

Final fantasy IV,V,VI advance
Pokemon seriesSmash brothers melee
Evolution worlds
Animal Crossing
Crush hourBasicall there are many games I like for both systems

People need to start appreciating some Sunset Riders for SNES.
-
I don't have an xbox so idk
but
Ill just do GCN for now
Animal Crossing
Super Mario SUnshine
Viewtiful Joe
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario 2
All LOZ games. -
The NES was my first console. My favorite games had to be Duck Hunt, Double Dragon, and Metroid. Genesis and SNES were great, too. The old Sonic games were the best, as well as Super Mario World, and Super Mario RPG. I miss those games.
-

-
My 1st system was also NES.. had games like Mickey mouse,Ironsword,Yo Noid, Gauntlet,Final Fantasy.
with SNES though, I liked games like Clay fighter,Mario RPG
-
My first was NES, but here are my favorite ones: SNES
A lot, but I have particularly vivid memories of Earthbound.Sega Genesis
Gunstar Heroes. I played this a whole lot, and I remember how happy I was when I beat it.Sega CD
Snatcher. It's still one of my favorites.Sega Saturn
Too many to list, but I'll at least mention the fun I had with my friends playing Guardian Heroes and Saturn Bomberman.Sega Dreamcast
Also too many to list. Shenmue and lots of fighting games I guess, but there's also a lot more.Neo-Geo Pocket Color
SNK vs. Capcom Card Fighters Clash. Wow, I spent a lot of time on this game (and I still play it too). -
Chrono trigger beats all.
-
I still have memories of the Atari, playing classic games like Pong, Pole Position, Pit Fall II, and the original Mario Bros. (before they were super).
-
@Cyringohn:
People need to start appreciating some Sunset Riders for SNES.
I still have that! I haven't played it in a while, but I still remember some of the bosses.
I really miss Super Mario RPG, but my game stopped working a while ago, so I have to wait for the Virtual Console edition. Kirby Super Star was probably the best game of the series, Chrono Trigger and FF6 were probably the best RPGs I've played, and I played the Donkey Kong Country games constantly when I was younger. Earthworm Jim was probably (until Psychonauts) the funniest game that I've played. I even remember games like Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage (sold it a few years ago) and Bubsy (still have it, but don't play it often).
In short, Super NES was the system that probably effected my life the most.
-
I still have that! I haven't played it in a while, but I still remember some of the bosses.
"BURY ME WITH MY… MONEY!"
"UGH! YA GOT ME..."
"ME IN HEAP BIG TROUBLE..."
"Holy smoke!" / "That was a bang!"
"Adios, amigo!"
"Me Pow-Wow'd out!"
"Asta la BYE BYE!"
"I say... Bit o' bad luck..."
-
The first console that I had was the N64. I can't really remember that many games that I had for it but some of the games I liked were: Tony Hawk, Pokemon Snap, Super Smash Bros, and LOZ: Majora's Mask (never did get Ocarina of Time though)
I also recently bought a SNES with DK Country, Street Fighter 2, and Super Mario All-Stars… but I lost the AC adapter for it :cwy: .
-
How are those extinct? Last gen, yeah, but not extent. Mind, I don't see Xbox's anywhere but I never saw any when they were even current gen.
There getting there.
GC has had basically like 2 games in all of 2007, Ratatouille and like Backyard Baseball 3 or something. Thats pretty sad.
GBA, Hell I don't think theres been any games for that in 2007
Xbox isn't getting anymore games because 360 came out 2 years ago and most games for that are being not produced anymore. I love these consoles so I would like to just talk about them. -
Gamecube
- Animal Crossing
- PKMN Colleseum (still play that)
- Sonic Gems
GBA
- PKMN Ruby and Sapphire
- Sonic Advance 3
-
Now that I think about it, what was so great about Animal Crossing? It was like the Sims for gay toddlers.
-
My NES is long since dead… Punchout!! is still one of my favorite games ever, I play it on Animal Crossing when I get the chance. ((there's your answer, Moria)) And I remember playing Skiing and Jaws for the NES too... The N64... Paper Mario, Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Kart 64, Mother Fucking Goldeneye... I play that one regularly... Final Fantasy 8 on the PS, my favorite PRG of all time. I fought Omega Weapon out of the blue the other day, he kicked my ass. Gamecube had Tales of Symphonia, Animal Crossing and Melee.
Damn, where is my Gamecube?
-
I found mine down in the laundry room, I have no idea why, but about a month ago I pulled it out and fell in love with it again.
-

(snuggles Dreamcast)

Got my first console, the Sega Genesis on my sixth birthday. The reason my parents got it for me was because I found the tv commercial for it amusing and kept repeating it all the time. First game was Sonic the Hedgehog (although I thought he was a cat at the time) I had serious problems beating it, I didn't want Sonic to die but I was always owned by the spikes in Green Hill Zone 2. Eventually I got my cousins to play it for me… I was too scared to play later levels in case I'd skrew up and die so I just let the beat the game for me.
-
GCN -> Wii
GBA -> DS
PS1 -> PS2So all I miss is N64. >_> Ever since my sister took it back, I couldn't play my perfect OoT/MM files. :( Or Perfect Dark or Dockey Kong 64, which I miss the most.
-
I personally own an NES, SNES, & N64. I own 111 NES games, 20 SNES games & 5 N64 games.
Some other systems that me & my roommates own are a Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS1's, PS2's, GBAs, DS Fat, DS Lites, & PSPs…
oh, and I own an ORIGINAL Game Boy.
-
I have an, uh, Intellivision?
C'mon, anyone got some lovin' for the Intellivision?
I would play Burgertime all the time and was like "dude this is awesome," then I got the NES version and I was all "wtf is this?"
-
oh, and I own an ORIGINAL Game Boy.
Rule: If your Gameboy isn't big enough to bludgeon a rhinoceros to death, it's not a real Gameboy.
-
I just took out my N64, brings back great memories.
-
Well, if we are going to be listing every system we own…here goes:
NES
Gameboy (original)
Gameboy Pocket
Gameboy Color (x2)
Gameboy Advance
DS (x2)
SNES
N64
Sega Genesis (x2 - two different models)
Sega 32X
Sega CD
Sega CDX
Sega Nomad
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast (x2)
PS1
PS2 (x3 - original model, slim model, Japanese slim model)
Neo-Geo Pocket Color (x2)I think that's all.
Oh, but I forgot to add Mischief Makers for N64 and Dynamite Headdy on Genesis. Oh, and River City Ransom and World Cup Soccer on NES, and Kirby Super Stars on SNES.
-
That's a lot of Gameboys and PS2s…
For JP PS2 games, I just used a slide card. >_>
-
For JP PS2 games, I just used a slide card. >_>
I originally used Swap Magic on my old model PS2 until the disc tray jammed. The tray was already in bad shape (it would slide out very slowly), and I thought it was broken for good. I finally got it working, but every time I used Swap Magic it jammed it again.
I eventually just bought a Japanese PS2. Maybe I wasn't doing it correctly (although I watched an online tutorial, read the instructions several times, etc. - it would only work on my old PS2 if I did it exact), but it was a hassle using the slide card every single time I wanted to play my import SNK games. I play those more than my US games anyway. Sometimes it would lock, sometimes it wouldn't. So I just bought a Japanese PS2.
I also later bought a slim US PS2 because my old one wasn't working correctly (probably because I pretty much ruined the tray constantly using the slide card - since you have to manually pull the tray out yourself - although, like I said, the tray was already in bad shape when I began using the slide card). Although I still have it.
So, yeah, it's not like I don't know about slide cards. I like it this way better though.
-
I only kept my cartridge of Smash Bros. That Game was too epic to be sold.
-
NES
Kirby's Adventure
Super Mario Bros.
Mike Tyson's Punch Out!!SNES
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy IV & VI
EarthboundN64
Goldeneye
Super Smash Bros.
Super Mario 64
Diddy Kong RacingI had a Genesis but only really Sonic and Earthworm Jim stood out for me over the years. These other games listed I could play to the end of time.
-
BOMBERMAN!!
should start playing it againoh…and Crash Team Racing :D
-
I can still remember the day I got my Game Boy, damn was that ever an awesome piece of kit. I still have it with the box and everything along with the tetris that came with it. My friend once dropped his from the top of a solid wood staircase, hit nearly every stair on the way down and it still works ten years later. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
I still have a Sega Mega Drive, fully boxed with everything in it, even the plastic bags the instructions and stuff comes in. Somehow I ended up with two but never sold the spare.
-
I used to have an NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance SP, Playstation, Dreamcast and X Box… Most of these I've either had to sell or they broke...
I really miss my Dreamcast, those were some good memories! I used to love playing Soul Calibur all the time... I was freaking amazing at it, especially after spending entire days playing it (cuz I had no life! HAHA)
Oh and I remember when I had my PS1... I got the Japanese version of DBGT Final Bout... It was so awesome back then, one of my friends had the English version... dear god that was awful >_< But it was great when I wanted to play that or any other imported games, I had that little converter thing you stuck in the back of the console, and the little spring to put in the lid. I eventually lost it, so I used the spring from one of my (at the time) boyfriend's guitar pedals XD
Too bad someone managed to steal that game from me though.... -
I have my N64. I still play it. Often. Almost on a daily basis.
My games for it, are in my opinion, the best for it.Mario kart
Super Mario 64
Super Smash Bros.
Ocarina of Time
Majoras Mask
Goldeneye
Pokemon Snap
Pokemon Stadium 2
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards -
Moria, you create the dumbest posts.
Seriously, learn to use the word "Extinct" properly. Also, don't say last gen consoles are bad. Yeah, they suck now, but for some reason people figure they're worth it because they're cheaper. Anyways, I see no reason to remember any mainstream consoles. The only ones to remember are the forgotten ones. VirtualBoy, GameGear, Atari Jaguar, all of them arenearly unknown. Why would I want to remember my Gamecube, which I haven't used in a year but still have hooked up by my Wii? And backwards compatibility removes are need to remember their games, because you can still play them.

Zaxxon for Colecovision. Played more true to the arcade than Atari's craptacular rendition. One of the first games to feature a Boss Fight as I recall.

Bump…
These consoles are extinct. Since when have you seen a game produced for the Gameboy, Gamecube, PS1 or Xbox? None, because they stopped making them, thus there extinct in my view. And I didn't say last gen consoles are bad, if I wanted to say that this thread wouldn't be named "Remembering Old Consoles" it would be "Old Consoles SUCK" -

Actually, I think some games are still being produced for the Xbox. And if by Gameboy, you mean Gameboy Advance, that still gets new games too.
I mean the original Gameboy. And no, XBOX stopped getting games 2 years ago when the 360 came out.
-
Neo-Geo:
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash
SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash 2
SVC Chaos: SNK vs. Capcom(could have sworn the name was Match of the Millenium or something)I think you mean Neo-Geo Pocket Color, not the regular Neo-Geo.
Also, you are correct, it was called Match of the Millenium. SVC Chaos is a different game.
-
Ah thanks, I forgot the name so I quickly searched for it and found SVC chaos. Good times though…Good times.
-
Some of my fondest memories of game playing is still with the old Atari 2600…back when you really had to use your imagination when playing, cuz hell if you can't figure out what you're actually LOOKING at other than pixelated figures. It was still fun, though, I've hooked the thing up on occasion and played it with my niece. And the old original NES was fun too, I was the first person I knew that beat Super Mario Bros.
-
Ah, you have to love the old consoles ^_^. My first video game was on the Super Nintendo, Super Mario RPG. The greatest video game of it's time, imo.
-
I wouldn't say that the Gamecube, Xbox, or PS2 are entirely extinct. And please don't give me a "beotchfest" when you read my post, I'm just saying what I think.
I still see Gamecubes and PS2s on the shelf for sale in game stores, but I haven't really seen that many Xboxes, but heck, since when have I ever seen one besides at my friends house? There a still games being made for them, but chances are that the majority of them are 3rd party or something like that.To say the GameBoy Advance is extinct really doesn't sit well with me. It's not like the DS is the "new gameboy" anyways, since Nintendo themselves said so in an issue of Nintendo Power. They said it was something between console and portable, and that they called it their "third pillar".
@Bad-Beat:I can still remember the day I got my Game Boy, damn was that ever an awesome piece of kit. I still have it with the box and everything along with the tetris that came with it. My friend once dropped his from the top of a solid wood staircase, hit nearly every stair on the way down and it still works ten years later. They don't make 'em like that anymore.
I'd have to disagree a little with you on that one. My DS has been through a lot of rough times, not to forget that my brother once dropped it at the bottom of a pool, and today it works just fine.
Although! One week, my brother pestered me to let him borrow my GBASP so he could show it off to his friends, and he brought it back one day and it's LCD screen was broken. I was pissed alright, but my dad won't believe that he was faulty. And so, my dad bought me a Micro because of the incident ^_^My list of consoles:
N64 (my first console. <3)
Gamecube
Playstation
Playstation2
NES
Gameboy Pocket (x2)
Gameboy Color (A reddish-pink one and a special Poke'mon edition one).
Gameboy Advance (x2)
Gameboy Advance SP
Gameboy Micro
Gamegear
Nintendo DS (Phat edition)
PSPThe NES I got from a friend, who has a LOT of consoles. You see, my friend (let's call him Logan) Logan's dad works at a landfill, and he checks the garbage to see what's really disposable or not, and he sometimes finds consoles and games. That's how Logan usually ends up with like, ALL of the systems in existence, with like 3 N64's and 2 Playstations. He gives me the consoles/games he doesn't need anymore, which includes an NES, a copy of Paper Mario: TTYD (GCN), and just yesterday he gave me a copy of Resident Evil 2! It's too bad people treat Logan like crap though, since he looks a lot different than people because he has darker skin and people insult him about it and say he's "dirty".
-
Got the NES for my 8 year old birthday. Fondest memories are probably Super Mario 2 (the Doki Doki Panic ripoff) especially the last fight against Wart (first boss fight I remember) , Probotector/Contra, the Konami code and the awesome score (Jungle, Snowfield, Energy Zone) and Megaman 2, which is probably one of my favorite games ever.
That's for the good memories. Cause honestly I have more bad memories than good one with the NES as I actually bought a lot of games I never finished, either because they were absurdly hard or simply shitty beyond belief. It includes Bayou Billy, Top Gun, Dragon's Lair and Castlevania 2.
-
I remember playing an NES waaaaaay back when, it was my brother's. I'm pretty sure my first video game ever was Zelda II… Luckily, it didn't scar me enough to stop playing them, since I was young and stupid at the time.
My first real console was a Playstation. I didn't really have many games for it, but it brings back fond memories.
-
I went on a game hunt the past two days in a row, and I picked up these bad boys…
!
I bought these two from this guy that worked at Game Crazy. They were from his personal collection & he sold both of them for $25!
!
I found these two at Half-Priced Books, for $10 each.
!
These were at Game stop for $5 each! XD
!
My DragonQuest collection is ever expanding.
!
Anyone remember this one? Now, let's talk about MegaMan…
!
I picked this up last weekend at an anime convention. I almost shit my pants when I saw it!
!
This is my pride & joy! Keiji Inafune, the man behind the legend, graced my cart with his signature… plus a little extra. -
Since i got my Wii i put away my Gamecube in my room with my GameboyColor,Advened,PS1,and N64,i still have all of my old games
