Family - god, i remember back when Samurai Pizza Cats was on tv (i was in the 6th grade) my sisters would make fun of me for watching it… and of course later when i watched DBZ on cartoon network... i remember my dad being in the room when was watching the first dbz movie on tv... i don't think either of my parents paid attention to the animes i watch.... my mom sometimes makes fun of the japanese or just makes a strange face when i'm watching something weird like FLCL...
I got both of my sisters into anime when they saw the Rurouni Kenshin OVAs (Samurai X) they thought it was so badass. actually, anyone that i showed that to thought it was awesome. eventually, my older sister started watching Nadesico, Saber Marionette J, Jubei-chan, Initial D and GTO with me. i tell her about One Piece all the time, she seems interested. My lil sister however, is really picky and still doesn;t really like anime unless its really thought-provoking or Miyazaki. she enjoyed watching Cat Soup with me as well as Spring and Chaos, Tokyo Godfathers, and Millenium Actress. She also somehow got into Eva and Boogiepop Phantom and Lain. she doesn't care for One Piece unfortunately... oh well.
My hubby doesn't like much anime except for One Piece (since episode one!) Dragon Ball, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Trigun and Berserk... mainly shonen i guess. We talk about One Piece all the time, he's the only other person besides me that is caught up in the story, so its really fun talking with him about it.
Friends - most of my friends in fort worth don't care about anime, except i got one of them into Sorcerer Hunters (she even buys the manga now) and one of them liked DBZ a little (she loved Vegeta) and she thought Gawl in Generator Gawl was hot n___n
my friends in college however... i was happy to have met most of them, since they were anime fans as well... i actually got most of them into One Piece. two of them are Narutards, but that's ok.
man, in high school, i was a dbz nerd and i kept to myself most of the time, and the most unexpected thing happened... the guy i had a crush on at the time realized i liked dbz and he did too! so we became fast friends, talking about dbz all the time and stuff... man those were the days...
also, i used to draw almost nonstop in highschool... people always looked over my shoulder saying "wow, you're so good! wish i could draw!" even though i look back and shudder at the crap i drew....
