Ah Thank you very much
Chapter 453 "Cloudy, Partly Bones" Discussion
-
Ah Thank you very much
-
Also, the man who stole brook's shadow is none other than DONQUIXOTE DOFLAMINGO..(I think)
What the fuck?
It's Gecko Moria. It's been said several hundred times, throughout everyting.
-
Lola is giving me a strong Disney vibe. I can't quite place it, but something like a cross between a dancing hippo (from Fantasia), Clucky (from Robin Hood) and who knows what all else. She's got quite an arsenal at her disposal : Valkrye girdle armor, a huge axe, two lethal looking katana (oh, but I don't think those swords are Zoro's though – the hilts are different) but still, I get this sinking feeling that -- ah, nevermind.
She looks like a lot with Pumba of The Lion King. Also, Robin and Franky's relationship is indeed funny, since they are very different from each other (Robin is calm while Franky is all-brute).
And still no word from Moria. Hmm.
I guess Oda is preparing to surprise us with a totally unexpected look of Moria. My theory is that Moria will look just like this guy:
-
She looks like a lot with Pumba of The Lion King.
Both Pumba and Lola/Laura are warthogs, so no wonder they look like each other.
-
She looks like a lot with Pumba of The Lion King.
Thank you! Yes, that must be the other part of the equation that I was having trouble figuring out. Because she's got the body and/or costume of other Disney characters, but her head (and some of her mannerisms) does resemble Pumba.

So, apart from the oh-so-generic 'OMG BROOKE IS TEH MAIN ARC VILLAIN!!!111ONELEVEN' prediction, anyone have any theories as to what Brooke is actually doing there?
-
…I've never read any Brooke is the main villian theories...
I find that theory is an overused word. I prefer hypothesis as suaully, people don't have a sufficient amount of data to back up what they say.
On topic, I'm hoping Brooke is there now to kick some General Zombie arse. Thus, show-casing his fighting ability and it will also be a precursor to the real fight he will have to have.
-
The problem with using the word hypothesis is that a hypothesis is simply a guess about a single fact that can be proved or disproved. A theory is a plausible explanation for a set of facts and can be altered slightly to fit new evidence in ways that a simply hypothesis can not. So while you are right that a less than educated guess on a single point does not warrant being called a theory, much of the more thorough speculation on this board does.
As far as how brooke plays into the current situation, it seems to be a fairly obvious plot device. Taleran, the spider monkey wasn't particularly dazed from his fall and could easily climb the wall and stop Robin and Franky from continuing forward. Oda simply let Brooke fall from great height onto taleran's head, knocking him out, or at least distracting him for awhile to give Robin and Franky the opportunity to go save the three mugiwara power hitters.
@Dinty, yeah, there's a lot of alice in wonderland and other disney in all of these anthropomorphic critters running about. But disney on acid generally makes for good reading, so who's to complain?
-
Brooke is probably evening the odds on the field of battle, as he said he would. Here's hoping we get to see him kick some ass.
INTERESTING THOUGHT: Anybody ever think that since Brooke is a musician, he could fight with music/sound? -
Yeah, the way Celine Dion does :-D

Ryuma's sword move was also a music move… "Humming Top Notch-cut" according to the translationmobile.
Wait, hold the phone… singing sword? If Brooke doesn't join, then Ryuuma's sword is the new crewmember! Awesome. XD
All kidding aside, my guess is that the move is Brooke's, not Ryuuma's, but Ryuuma's sword is in fact Kitetsu II, hence, why he's dead. I strongly think that because Ryuuma used the back of the sword, it's Brooke's move. I'm pretty sure that Brooke uses his cane to fight, and getting hit with the back of a blade would be the same thing as being hit by a cane.
-
Brook might just hit us with something totally unecspectable. The "Omg, he's fighting with music" thingy is way to predictable and cheesy. I predict he will have the weirdest fighting moves ever seen under the One Piece sun(yeah, bad pun). Either that or he'll be a gentleman musketeer. En Garde(or is it En Boooones)
-
I absolutely loved winged Robin. For me, that added a whole 10 points to the chapter. I don't think we'll see it again much in the future, though, it's usefullness is rather limited, isn't it? Still, it just looked so amazing seeing Robin with wings.
I, too, like seeing Robin and Franky together, but I think I'd like to see these two interact with any crew member just because they're both the newest members.
I am definitely looking forward to some Brooke action next week!
-
@Dinty … so who's to complain?
Not me! – seeing as Fantasia, Alice, Sword in the Stone and Robin Hood are probably my four favorite Disney films.
Question:
Since we now know that Luffy's shadow isn't inside Taleran, but that Luffy is indeed "behind the wall" with Sanji and Zoro, where do you suppose Luffy's shadow went?
(Do you think that Mehs prediction about Luffy's suit of armor deflecting Moria's shadow-stealing attack has come true?)
-
but Ryuuma's sword is in fact Kitetsu II, hence, why he's dead.
I want to know where you got that information in regards thats the sword he wields, and if it actually killed him.

IMO it wouldn't be too cheesy. No one else in the series as of late uses actual instruments as battle weapons. Who says he needs to play the instrument when he fights. With his character I can see him doing something like this:
Pulls Cello out
Brooke: "Damn, I don't know how to play this!" Thinks as what to do next
Enemy gets frustrated and rushes with his sword
Brooke pulls back the Low C string and hooks the bow on. He shoots it at his enemy between the eyes
Enemy gets pissed because that was a stupid act. Rushes again with sword
Brooke takes the Cello and smashes it on his head Runs away (Or he pulls out the sharp stand tip and uses the whole instrument like a sword)
Or some crap like that. He could also use various Scare tactics because he is a pile of bones and most people do not encounter a skeleton that can walk and talk.
In terms of Robin, it was cool she could fly…er or float. But she could have also have made many hands across that bridge to grab both Franky and herself. Meh, at least Oda showed us something cool and unexpected.

Haha, yesssss! Brooke could also shriek the bow on the strings like Usopp Noise or something.
-

I think you missed the "MY GUESS IS" part.
And as for why it would kill him, Matsu made it very clear that anyone who wields the Kitetsu swords die a tragic death.
-
I guess Robin's 'wings' were Oda showing us how her powers are kicked up a notch like he did with everyone's during the fights in the Water 7 arc,but I really didn't like them. Especially consideringthe added weight should make her sink like a stone, not float through the air. It would've worked better if she made black wings out of her hair strands multiplying or something.
Everything else was win. And to think I thought Oda was going to completely ignore Franky and Robin for this arc.XD
Abs is by far the coolest general so far. -
ABSALOM IS NOT A GENERAL! He is the commander of the General Zombies and the Soldier Zombies. He is HUMAN!!
Dammit, didn't you people read chapter 451? -
@IT'S:

Dammit, didn't you people read chapter 451?Correct…COMMANDER ABSALOM!!G.zess chill out....I read the last chapter twice but I also had a life in between chapters and woke up @ 2am today(it's 6pm now for me) and haven't gotten a wink of sleep inbetween. Sorreeeee!:wassat:

Question:
Since we now know that Luffy's shadow isn't inside Taleran, but that Luffy is indeed "behind the wall" with Sanji and Zoro, where do you suppose Luffy's shadow went?
Hmm, probably Hogback will put his shadow on a zombie animal like a leopard or a monkey, just to sound some irony. As he has "monkey" in his name, and he fought with a leopard man recently…
What about Zoro's shadow?
-
kuroneko: did you miss 452? the apearance of Jigoroh? Luffy mistakes him for Zoro and he is the only man apart from Zoro in OP manga to wield 3 swords.
-
may I just say I am SO EXCITED that Brooke is back? =DDDDDDDDD
(has been waiting for this ever since Luffy set foot on the island)
-
Heh, I particularly liked how Absalom made positive light out of being shocked by Nami. The arm wing ability was also pretty cool, though it's a shame that Robin can only maintain that ability for 5 seconds.
I wonder… what if Hogback somehow has Gol D. Roger's corpse in his possession, and reanimated him?
-
Brooke. Need I say more.
I gotta comment on the cover. It's just adorable. <3 Might make it into my new avatar.
And look at Robin's arms. I didn't know they were so…. bendy.
-
You know it's bad for the strawhats when they are pretty much completely defeated without even so much as seeing the lead villain. Of course, that leaves room for the main villain underestimating the strawhats, and of course, the Strawhats (Luffy mostly) really underestimated these villains and that is probably why they are in the situation they are in. Rushing in wasn't such a good idea for team strawhat. :(
-
How is three fighters lost completely beaten? Sure, LuZoSan might be there main fighting team, but you still have Robin and Franky, both are pretty powerful.
-
I see this chapter being a "What if LuZoSan aren't there,"
Oda might be doing this to see how the rest can handle without the super powers of the crew. then when all is settled, everyone goes on to their respectful fights.
-
Do you guys think that maybe Nami might convince (AKA manipulate) Absalom into showing the location of the treasurehold?
Man, if Absalom falls for that then he is no different than Sanji. XD
-
wow, still no scanlation for 453?
-
Probably because there´s still no decent raw out there for scanslation use.
-
My most powerfull mugiwara list is
1. Luffy
2. Zoro (But I think they are equal in sheer power and tec)
3. Robin (she can easily break peoples limb but Zoro is too strong and that moves against Luffy cant be usefull :p4. Franky - Hey, he is a cyborg.
-
What do you get if you cross…
Pumbaa from The Lion Kingwith
Alice from Alice on Deadlines? The answer is quite obvious, y'know! XD
-
mujushin:
where is sanji in that list? and how well does robins nutcracker move work against luffy? or any kind of smoldering/choking technic?
-
kuroneko: did you miss 452? the apearance of Jigoroh? Luffy mistakes him for Zoro and he is the only man apart from Zoro in OP manga to wield 3 swords.
Hmm, I'm not sure. Jigorou is a zombie general so he wasn't made recently, did he? I don't know if Hogback is still making zombie generals or just zombie soldiers.
-
@Pass:

points at siggy

That's what I've been thinking too, especially when people call Usopp/Chopper/Nami "useless". They could be proving their worth in this arc, ne?
And by the way, am I the only one who thinks that Absalom is hot? He reminds me of Sawyer from Lost for some reason…
-
I wonder what was absalom's attack , it looks like a ki blast but maybe it's a magnetic force or something like that .
-
mujushin:
where is sanji in that list? and how well does robins nutcracker move work against luffy? or any kind of smoldering/choking technic?
Sanji in my eyes aint strong, but he is a strong fighter, whilst Luffy and Zoro are all over strong, it is jsut Sanjis legs which are strong.
And if she tryes to suffocate Zoro or Luffy, they are strong enough to remove the hand atleast, but then she can add more arms.. But that is just what I THINK. Just me^^
And Luffys balls are rubber? XD I supposeXD But Zoro would ahve problems with that move :p -
@DraGooN101:
Heh, I particularly liked how Absalom made positive light out of being shocked by Nami.
I think Sanji made a similar comment after being shocked when Nami first tried out the Perfect Clima Tact.
Hmm, I'm not sure. Jigorou is a zombie general so he wasn't made recently, did he? I don't know if Hogback is still making zombie generals or just zombie soldiers.
Maybe Hogback was holding onto his corpse and intended to turn him into a zombie general, but Gekko Moria hadn't found an appropriate shadow until now.
-
Hmm, I'm not sure. Jigorou is a zombie general so he wasn't made recently, did he? I don't know if Hogback is still making zombie generals or just zombie soldiers.
Why wouldnt zombie generals be made recently? the zombie generals all have the highest numbers in TB so i dont see anything talking for that he stopped doing them.
The attack Jigoro uses is one that's common to zoro, also the remark about scars/wounds in the back is shameful for warriors is a reference to zoro's fight with hawkeyes.
(and i already mentioned the 3 swords and that luffy seemingly mistakes his voice for zoro… or possibly because of the attack)You seem to have no problems with zomji/dogpen (zombie number 3 when he presents himself) beeing recent and beeing sanji's shadow-zombie. Ofcourse he presents himself as beeing the new guy but he has an incredibly low number and why would hogback make animal zombies when he can make human ones? (animal zombies has lower numbers then surprise, human and general zombies)
-
I wonder… are the wild zombies stronger than the surprise zombies like the Generals are stronger than the Soldier Zombies?
-
well the wild zombies in peronas garden knocked out team usopp instantly while the team could run from both the graveyard zombies and the suprise zombies.
personally i think strenght varies inside the grps to the extent that the group belongings doesnt neccesarily indicate strenght.
-
True, true. The Wild Zombies did say that DogPen was as strong as a General.
-
this is from the scanforge about the double issue
#22-23 (30/04)
One Piece (Couv & Page Couleur)double chapter and color page = yes please
-
You mean double issue and not double chapter, right? ;)
-
yeah which usually amounts to close the same thing
-
No! A double issue is just an Weekly Jump issue that has two issue numbers instead of one while there´s still just one One Piece chapter featured in it, while double chapter means that there is two chapters of One Piece in one mag.
Or simplyfied:
Double issue = Weekly Jump #22-23 (OP chapter 454)
Double chapter = Weekly Jump #22-23 (OP chapters 454-455)
