bill gates got knighted.
apparently there are US laws that prohibits the use of "sir" prefix so he will not be sir bill gates. but instead, he will have the title KBE following his name. possibly "knight of the british empire" ?
either way, im glad he got knighted. microsoft might be evil, but bill gates' a good guy.

And KBE just reminds me ot Linux, kind of ironic since Bill Gates is all out against Linux and he might not want a Linux tagging behind his name.
Hohoho….
Bill Gates the knight.
one of his employees
Should I call you sir or Sir sir?
I think it is good that people cannot use titles of nobility if the society they live in does not favour kingdoms/aristocracies - it would be totally hypocritical. If you believe that everybody is born equal - why can the British queen make somebody an aristocrat - a title people are born with?
The guy himself might have earned an additional title but should his children inherit it? Actually, I don't know if these British titles are hereditary or not.
I think it's got something to do with the work they have done during their life….
Anyways,my Malaysian Goverment is angry over what 2 developers did to a protected rainforest...
THEY LEVELED 3/4 of the whole thing!!
There is US law prohibiting the prefix "Sir"?
Is it because they use to be a Brit colony?
CMIIW, but I think the reason Bill isn't a Sir is because he's not a UK citizen.
eh, thanks for the link shl. forgot to mention that i got the news from him too, in irc. haha. gomen ^^"

In the United States Constitution, it says that nobody can be given a title of nobility.
It was put there a long time ago, but it's still this way I think. I dunno, I'm not an expert on this. I've read that some call this the "Missing 13th Amendment", but I don't know why, or what the deal is.
It's in my government book though….
