New Japanese horror film from Shimizu.
Well, the good news is that Shimizu has finally told a story. Many of Juons detractors argue that the film doesn
t have a plot….which is for the most part true because it`s mostly people getting killed. I have faith in part 3 tying the series in a sweet knot but that is still far ahead.
That said Rinnes story is very interesting and had me guessing up until the end even though I thought I had it figured out several times. That was very fun and dare I say the most fun part of the film because as far as horror goes this borders on dramorror. Not a single spook except an obnoxiously loud rind on a cell-phone which was amplified by the theater
s DTS and is unlikely to have the same effect at home.
If youre going to see it, don
t expect frights but do expect an entertaining story with a surprisingly Miike-esque finale.
Expect the American remake in a year or two (no joke)
