Really? Geez, I live in Washington and I've had several instances in my life when I cursed myself for not taking Spanish in high school. Yeah, I took German for two years instead and when actually in Germany could only accurately ask where the bathroom was and inform someone that that was not my luggage. I could have, if provoked, told someone they were a jelly donut, but the situation never presented itself.

I do in fact have several Japanese learning programs, grammar books, dictionaries. The speaking/comprehension part isn't really THAT daunting, but the writing really scares me. Hence, I'm not sure if I'll ever take a Japanese course._
_Actually, I tend to do better with the writing part than the spoken part, but I'm very much a visual learner and I'm sure we're wired totally differently. I went into it being totally intimidated, especially at the begining when we were learning about the different kana. But really, once you get into it, it's a lot of fun, I had a blast in that class.
