**I was wondering if characters like Nami, Usopp or Sanji have last names? or there like Cher? lol

I assume Nami would have taken Bellamere's…if she had one. Nobody knows who Nami's real parents are. Sanji's real parents are a mystery too. And Yassop, who knows? I guess it's not really important. Unless something comes up later.
Oda probably thought there was no need for them. Life's funny that way.
its quite interesting but whats the use. know luffy's name is monkey d luffy but they call him luffy so whats the use
And no one calls him Monkey. So I guess in the OP world there is no such thing as a last name.
Monkey D. is his last name, and Roronoa is Zoro's. Some say it, but it really doesn't matter if they don't.
the only episode where they called zoro roronoa is in the first episodes
Kaku calls him Roronoa as well.
I'm still confused as to why Usopp doesn't have one.
i think u will never get to know the real answer why but the last thing ill tell you there is no use for them

ya its konda puzzeling me too.. cuz Yassop was a great pirate.. they could have left his last name.. same with shanks… Shanks could be his first or last name.. probably first.. but last name remains a mystery
Aren't the names backwards in Japan? First name is your house/family name. The one that is carried on. Your last is the name people use to differentiate between you and other people in your family.
Actually, the meanings are largely the same, except the given name and family name are written the other way around than what we are used to…. So, uh, I don't really see the relevance in that.

But that brings up the old question of why Luffy is Monkey if Ace is Portgas. Which brings up the possible answer that their last name is actually D.the only episode where they called zoro roronoa is in the first episodes_
Also, when people who have heard of Zoro first meet him, they refer to him as Roronoa Zoro. (ie, Smoker, Tashigi, Arlong, etc.)
Yeah Vilda, you got it. Monkey's like, his middle name or something.

Yop. Many countries are like that. Sometimes I even find myself putting my last name first, even though I was born and raised in the States.
But it gets confusing with One Piece, since there's obvious cases of last name first (Roronoa Zoro), and then there's "Rob Lucci" and Edward Newgate.

Well…maybe they're not all Japanese...
I just get my reasoning from the Dynasty Warriors games and DBZ with Son Goku, Son Gohan, ect.
