@Greg:
Really?
I actually kind of enjoyed it more than the comic. I got to see how Nami pulled off her attack. I wasn't sure how she actually finished her in the manga.
And I probably say this every six months but I am astounded at the pickiness of fans today. I sound like an old fart but with widescreen, fps, HD or whatever, I just don't know how anyone could have survived in the 1990's anime scene in the US.
You used to be able to fit 6+ episodes of an anime on a CD. Not DVD, CD. And that was when p2p was booming. Before that it was SHIT-TASTIC VHS copies of copies of copies.
It's just painful to see people rejecting perfectly good files when we would have killed for something with 1/3 of the quality back then.
Times they have a changed.
O-kay… I going to be contorversial here.
I actually agree with Greg. On a lot of things.
I think that today's anime fans do act like spoiled little brats when it comes to anything that isn't the best of the best when, back in the day, we were happy just to have a 3rd gen VHS copy. It's not a right, we're just lucky.
I mean, for example, since the animation "upgrade" there has been a lot of criticism towards how the present episodes are handeld animation-wise, and I would be lying to myself if One Piece didn't lose a certain cinematic feel in it's "classic" era. But still...I endured Season 3 of Ranma 1/2 and to be honest, in all of anime-dom, that was as bad as it got. When an anime looks mostly on model and consistent (Bebop, Champloo, Escaflowne, FMA) I consider it LUCKY because most animes that follow a long running manga aren't that blessed. Even the eye-candy-whore-that-is-Naruto has it's off days. I think One Piece has held up pretty well despite the drop in quality, it's one of the few animes I'm willing to watch RAW on a weekly basis.
Honestly, I think a lot of people need to just get over themselves and just enjoy the anime for what it is.
