It frightens me that there are the fact that this country has a bunch of Shou Tucker-wannabes doing this kind of thing and getting paid for it.
What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Quick! Somebody call Bellerephon!
O_O
Whoa, they're trying to make…chimeras!?
Just watch, PETA will be all over their asses.
Will PETA be wanting to save the beasts, or prevent them from coming into existence?
And can they please make a pegasus, next?
I…...don't know how to feel just now.
Damn my plan to create my own chimeras and take over the world has been stolen by some stupid scientists. Damn what will I use for my army of darkness now>

penguins, maybe?
In the near future, hypoallergenic cats will be available.
Now, which sign of the apocalypse is this? We've had Dolly the Sheep, Vanilla Ice, the election of George W. Bush, the RE-election of George W. Bush and now we have Chimeras. I hope I haven't missed any. I'm not looking forward to the apocalypse.
Don't be dissin' Vanilla Ice!
I dunno, but maybe we're getting too technological for our time.
@Vilda - Those already exist.. I'm pretty sure. But hairless cats such as some breeds of Manx and Sphynx are pretty hypoallergenic.
EDIT: And when I say "Manx"… I apparently mean "Rex" << ><
The penguin thang's been done too.. remember that Batman movie? :P
@Chimeras - Holy Crap! 0_0 thatâ€s ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Whoâ€s Shou Tucker?
This is ‘my version†chimera.. .. I drew it, but that doesnâ€t mean I want it alive and roaming the streets!!!! 0_o Things like this should be confined solely to our twisted imaginations.

Shou Tucker is from Fullmetal Alchemist, he made a chimera out of his wife and daughter.
And Manx, are they those awesome cats with no tails?
Er, yeah, youâ€re right. That would be the infamous “Rumpy Manxâ€? for the hairless ones, I meant “Rexâ€?
Wait…Their definition of Chimera...
That means that anyone who eats a Zoan Devil Fruit is a Chimera!
Chopper! Nooo!!
DX
Pffft… Half-man, half-animals. Pathetic. When are scientists gonna focus their attention on making cyborgs, or robots with sentinent life. What benefits do chimeras have ? Nothing. Benefits of cyborgs ? Longer life... Faaaar longer life.
…the HECK?!
I don't know whether this is cool or just plain creepy.
This whole thing seems really . . . . inhumane. Not just cause they're animals, but because they're human too.
It's not nearly as spectacular as some of you are making it out to be. How many of you actually read the full article? We're not talking "Island of Dr. Moreau" here, we're talking human cells in an animal in hopes of growing organs, testing how things work, etc.. etc.
Don't make it sound like Palidium's "TMNT", it's hardly that amazing o.o
By their definition, a human that recieves an organ grown in an animal is a chimera… that's a pretty loose definition. I guess that makes a person with a pacemaker a cyborg.
I guess it comes down to who's life is more important, human or animal. Personally, while I'm not a supporter of cruelty to animals in the name of science, I do respect some concessions need to be made in order to improve human life. Those of you criticizing it... will you be so eager to shoot it down when you find yourself in need of an organ, but with no one available to donate?
Now, maybe one day, it will come down to full cloning, genetic animal/human hybrids, cyborgs, robots... everything you know from science fiction... it's all possible in time. But this is NOT the start of "Planet of the Apes".
Thank you for your time.
And if you want something genetic-based that's freaky, look here:
How to piss off a vegetarian…
Like…what?
Meat Trees????
Yum.....
walks to backyard and makes a hamburger from tree
I wonder what the Chimaera would look like if it really was allowed to grow....
…...
Hmm..
What can I say..?
WTF.. :/
cooooool~!
That's disgusting and creepy.
Konis, what I'm worried about is even though they're using it for science now, who knows what it could be used for later. I think it's totally wrong to be messing with nature or things that came before us because we're not god and we're not the people who have the right to change Mother Earth.
