Dear god, no.

We are all rightly concerned about DA4, but can we enjoy an animated series in the meantime?

Let us know how it is when it releases
-
@Satsuki Now why is The Arishok gross but everyone wants to bone Iron Bull?
-
Because Iron Bull wanted to bone everyone else?

How have i not heard anything of this ... Guess i need to borrow someone's Netflix account. Looks promising.

Nice. They also dropped us a little short story:

Longer version of the trailer. With actual cinema stuff in it.
Varric is basically the main character of the franchise at this point, isn't he?

squees
And wisely so, if he is. At least the narrator. Everyone loves Varric.

Apparently there trying a new approach to combat, what do you guys think?

DA4 & Mass Effect 4 better be on hit and legit

Play this at 1.1x speed for best effect.

LOL. Oh, the good old days . . .
-
I guess it's not technically Bioware news, but Baldur's Gate 3 is out on PC with console release in a month. It's currently getting rave reviews and looks like the path I wish a Dragon Age: Origins sequel had taken.
-
https://blog.bioware.com/2023/08/23/an-update-on-the-state-of-bioware/
What's even still left of the old Bioware we knew and loved?
-
Sounds like the layoffs included Mary Kirby who's been around since Dragon Age: Origins. She's probably most well known for being Varric's writer, but I also remember the areas she was responsible for writing in general usually being my favorite.
-
Crazy to think that Anthem was their last big original project. Oh how the mighty have, at the least, stumbled.
-
Well one way or another Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age 4 better come correct otherwise that’s going to be a hell of way to go out.
-
They realize if they fuck up the next Dragon Age or Mass Effect sequel they are fucked, right?

We're just all going to pretend Andromeda never happened?
You know, they could ahve avoided a lot of blowback if they'd just clalled Dragon Age 2, "Dragon Age: Kirkwall" instead and promoted it as a side story instead of a main entry.

If no one pretended that Mass Effect 3 never happened with as much butthurt the game’s ending generated don’t know why anyone’s doing the same for Andromeda.
Truth be told from with little bit of Andromeda I played it wasn’t that bad but the character creator could’ve been better, the animations (of course could’ve been better), and some of the character writing could’ve been better.

They’ve been fucked for some time. It’s just now they’re on the cusp of being properly fucked.

Mass Effect 3's endng was fine after they did the big update patch. On launch it was iffy sure, but the patch and the following DLC party thing made such a huge difference that it's not frowned upon anymore by anyone that played it after the opening couple weeks.

I played Andromeda all the way through. The main character having full versatility abilities and flight was good. EVERYTHING ELSE was somewhere between mediocre and bad. I was super bored long before I was finished.
Even the multiplayer was a massive step down from 3's multiplayer because the weapon choices were worse and jumping completely ruined the map design.
-
I think i spent 20 hours playing the actual game and about 80 hours of the multiplayer (which is, of course, still a low number compared to ME:3 MP) because i just loved the gameplay mechanics so much. Best thing about the game for me.
Man, i remember when i thought Anthem would be like that but even more fun and versatile with a big open world ...
-
@Robby said in EA SUCKS but so does Bioware Thread:

Is that even a question?
I bought the PS4 exclusively to play the next ME. And I ended up dropping it without any remorse before going far. I can't even say how far I got because everything was so unremarkable I don't even remember the characters or the events (it doesn't help that BW closed the official boards before the game came out, killing any engagement I could have had with the fanbase).
So, yeah. We don't talk about Andromeda.
-
I guess this kinda has to do with Bioware.
If anyone was wondering how the old EA CEO is doing...
https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/the-death-of-unity"
Unity personal, which is free, now cannot be used offline.
all tiers of unity now require developers to pay a flat fee of a few cents for every game that's installed
Unity plus (which is going away), and pro, and enterprise levels all cost a subscription, and most professional developers have to use it.
different tiers of downloads and income determine how much you pay.
Unity has never made money off subscriptions, it has always made money off its ads platform (which you see in f2p mobile games, etc)
There's a discount if you use Unity Services.
This money is meant to help with runtime issues when they can't even get their base stable version to run without crashing.

Um, ok? Nice animation.
-
Yeah. We're still pretty far off from from the next Mass Effect.
-
And still barely any info on Dreadwolf, too.
-
Comic Bundle for those interested:
https://www.humblebundle.com/books/dragon-age-and-mass-effect-comics-dark-horse-books -
I forget about these. All I have is Hard in Hightown. But rather than Humblebundle I think I'll go to the comic shop next to my salon to see if they have any.

Here's a complete non-teaser that for 40 seconds shows literally nothing, and promises "full reveal summer 2024."
At this point I'm convinced Dragon Age 4 is just a tax scheme.
It's going to have been TEN YEARS since Inquisition and they still have nothing to show for it. I no longer remember much of anything or have any real investment in the world anymore. And the entire old staff has left at this point and... I just dunno.
They should probably release some remastered legendary editions or something. (But I'm not playing through each game twice to get all the trophies again.) But when Baldur's Gate 3 is around, they have some massive competition to live up to.
-
Still not as long as a sequel gap as Skyrim and ESVI.
-
Skyrim didn't end on a cliffhanger in the middle of an ongoing narrative.
-
Debateable. There's still the matter of the Thalmor, and what happens if Emperor Titus was indeed assassinated by you. And you know....all the dragons.
But at least Dreadwolf has a confirmed setting. We still don't even know where the hell VI is supposed to be at.
-
I believe in never giving up on hope (even if it's sarcastic hope), but how many damn "teaser for a teaser" trailers are we gonna get?
Yes, it looks gorgeous, and they are playing on the part so many of us love (the world building), so you can't help but enjoy it. (when did Rivain have a squid-thing going? We turning Lovecraft now?) But the enjoyment can't last bc you know how long we'll have to wait. AGAIN.
I would love some remastered Legendary editions. How else do you get new fans? Besides new games, I mean.
-
Most of the Elder Scrolls games take place decades or even centuries apart.
3 and 4 were actually closer together, only 5? years apart, but they're an outlier. Skyrim was 200 years after Oblivion and Online is 2000 years before any of the other games. It seems pretty likely there will be another time jump big enough to to just close out any choices you might have made. Characters and choice consequences haven't been a major part of Elder Scrolls thus far.
Meanwhile all three Dragon Age games take place within like a 10 year span aside from the epilogue of Inquisition, and have many of the same characters interacting, and Dreadwolf clearly needs to take place very soon after Inquisition.
Gotta wonder how they're going to handle the branches since at this point basically everyone from the first two games can be royalty or be dead about 8 different ways over, and the main of 1 and 3 are so wildly different with different possible origins...
And we know that Varric is back again as a major character (is he playable? We don't know.)
-
I feel like at this point Varric has become DA's narrator. Although I doubt many would be against him in the party again.
-
I sort of hope he's NOT playable because he enters my party and then never leaves for the entire game. Even on second playthroughs. So I always screw up the rotations a little and miss out on some of the new characters.
I won't complain if he is playable again, I'll just have to make sure to not play a thief or archer.
-
Industry insider claims that DA4 will be out this year, but I'm not holding my breath:

And last year, big budget projects like Immortals of Avenum and Wild hearts didn't perform very well financially.
I don't know, it makes sense to me.
-
It would be nice to learn something about it. More of the setting, the main character....anything, really.
-
When they released the last teaser they promised that something would be announced in the summer. Whether that's just a full trailer or the actual game (not), it'll be nice.
-
https://insider-gaming.com/will-we-see-dragon-age-dreadwolf-at-summer-game-fest-answered/
Seeming likely we get a trailer at summer games fest, and maybe a March launch?
It's apparently listed on the Xbox store so at the very least that means preorders soon.
-
OMG, am I actually going to have to buy a PS5?
-
Hmmmm you might rabbit you might.
-
I wish this would be released on Switch.
-
You’d be willing to put up with an inconsistent frame rate and spotty visual's?
