I think its not worth to put effort into predicting whats gonna happen in a season 2, if we haven't seen a single episode of the first season and with the writers strike in the US going on.
I'm sure the writers and actors strike in the US is going to negatively affect any chances for a second season, I am not saying they shouldn't strike and fight for better wages.

I find how it is structured, what is replaced, mixed, or original more interesting than vfx or wig discussions honestly.

I'm kinda confident in plenty of easter eggs, judging by both the wanted posters we saw on the trailer and other little details like Dragon with his green cape watching Roger's execution.
Like, I'm not expecting to get the same level of cameos at Roger's execution as we got in Chapter 0, but seeing someone in the crowd with Doffy's feather jacket and Mihawk too, since he does appear on the first season.I'm also hopping they set up Bink's Sake right from the start and we see Shank's crew singing it, or part of it, as a chanty or something.

Netflix tends to batch dump things. Even if its much uch better for a show to be weekly so it has time to build discussiion, give people a chance to make youtube videos, and have discourse and buildup for two months.
Instead of binged in a weekend then forgotten.
It was a cool model when Netflix was the only game in town and they only had like 4 original shows but it doesn't make sense now or do the shows any good. And the binge drop is why they have to make 8000 shows and not advertise any of them.
I know there's a lot of people that like being able to just do it in one go, but... its not good for the health of a series.

We know Krieg is in it because he's been cast. It's more likely that he's been put into the Gin role for this story and side-lined so that Mihawk can be the main antagonist of Baratie instead.
Maybe Krieg will get up after Mihawk leaves but Luffy will just take him out then during episode 2 of Baratie, before Arlong shows up.
It says Kaya has 3 overbearing house staff in her mansion. One is Kuro, second is Merry, and I don’t recall her having a third one.
Are they gonna make Jango go undercover as a butler along with Kuro too?

What? No. I meant as the Main focus rather than as a tangent like it was in the manga.
@black-leg-jex I'm saying I don't see any reason to think they'll do that. Mihawk is a Zoro thing and the trailer framed it in that way. Is the expectation that the rest of the cast will be doing nothing or will they face him as well? I just don't buy the idea that it'll end up being solely focused on Mihawk, especially as the 2 episodes need to focus on Sanji.

That’s what happened in the manga, no? Yosaku and Johnny were about to help Zoro only for Luffy to stop them.
@All-Fiction Yes, that's what happened in the manga for Zoro and Mihawk. Luffy and Sanji were dealing with Krieg and crew. I'm saying, it's hard for me to believe that Luffy and Sanji will not have anything to do during Baratie other than watch Zoro fight Mihawk, assuming Mihawk is the main antagonist.

episode 4 is perhaps the biggest curveball
Luffy, Zoro, and Nami fight their way through Kaya’s mansion, which has now become a prison. Usopp enlists the help of Koby, Helmeppo and the Marines. Luffy finally gets the ship of his dreams as Garp closes in.
Introducing Garp early and having Koby closer allied with the main story. Probably since they really can't do the cover story model.

This sounds like Mihawk vs Zoro to me:
A duel on the docks shocks the group
Whereas this sounds like either Krieg, or possibly the Arlong pirates:
The group is ambushed by a threat no one sees coming. After a hard-fought battle at Baratie, Sanji finally follows his dreams, while another crew member shows their true colors.
I could have it completely backwards of course, I just find it hard to imagine the hard fought battle that is followed by Sanji following his dreams being against Mihawk. I could totally be wrong, but the descriptions to me imply 2 separate engagements.
I think I'm not making myself clear. So Krieg shows up and, gets fed by Sanji but then decides to be a pirate and tries to take the Baratie, and we get all the build-up to Mihawk destroying Kriegs fleet by Krieg himself, instead of Gin. Then Mihawk shows up potentially takes Krieg down for the gang and then has the battle with Zoro before he leaves.
Then next episode, Krieg has already been defeated. The gang are all still at Baratie and trying to convince Sanji to join but he won't, and we get the Zeff flashback to explain why. Then the Arlong Pirates show up looking for Nami. Luffy and Sanji vs. The Arlong Pirates is the 'hard-fought' battle by they get beaten and ake Nami back with them (maybe she goes back in exchange for Arlong sparing Luffy and co). We then get the crew deciding to chase after Nami in the Merry, which they still have rather than Nami taking it, and Sanji gets his whole leaving sequence where Zeff and the chefs try to chase him out.
So Krieg is here as an initial threat, but he's dealt with either by Mihawk or before Mihawk arrives, making the Mihawk vs. Zoro fight the main focus until Arlong shows up. Something like that is what I meant.
The "threat no one sees coming" feels like it could mean Arlong since it's the more striking/dramatic turn but technically that is what happened with Krieg too....I guess...? The "crew mate shows their true colors" is 100% Nami leaving them with him, it's just the order of events that has me thinking.
I also think they'll just go to Baratie versus having Johnny and Yosaku guide them.
Yeah Johnny and Yosaku defo look to have been cut. That's probably why Nami won't steal the Merry as well, so the rest of the crew can chase after her with it.
@All-Fiction the only Black Cat pirate I have seen being casted is Sham. Maybe it's about them.
It seems that Kaya's mansion will be the place where the battle takes place. Could be an interesting twist.

Johnny and Yosaku aren't super important, but they're the only connection to Zoro anyone else from the crew gets to meet and they're charming. If they're not in (and no casting news has been released about them) they will be missed by me.
I don't know, I felt like Gin and Sanji's connection was pretty important to his characterization. Krieg is not Gin and doesn't really display the you've followed the wrong captain message. Granted, there's Bellamy in the later half but his entire thing was the only instance where we get a more nuanced take into the theme of loyalty.
Helmeppo's hair is so bad in just the right way.

Those garden ornaments or bush sculptures are a nice reference to Gaimon's island.
Wonder if they'll keep the gag of Garp sleeping at the wrong time.
The straw hat looks way better in that picture. Hope they just picked a weird shot for the trailer. Garp looks great in every shot.
I'm interested how they will handle Garp. From the trailers he seems to chase Luffy, but that ... seems out-of-character. Will he just stumble upon him? An early Coby / Luffy reunion also feels wrong, but maybe that's just me being used to the manga.
Man, depends what they do with Gin, it could be a big spoiler even for us manga readers.
If they either removed or reduced the role of Gin, and Oda approved of this, then it's clear he has no plans for him to return in the manga.
At this point I wouldn't expect Gin to return in any kind of major way to be honest. The most I'm expecting is like a cameo when the Straw Hats eventually crossover the Red Line again and end up back at the start of the Grand Line.
I dunno, Bellamy showed up again out of nowhere years later. Brook paid off the Labhoon thing after almost a decade. Mr. 7 was revealed to be alive after like 13 years. It's pretty obviously we're eventually gettign SOMETHING from Enel even though Skypeia was 20 years ago.

i'll give it a try, but really can't get over the fact that they use the annoying Funi subs
of "king of the pirates" instead of Pirate King, and "the One Piece" instead of "One Piece"
still interested to see what they do with the show's material in live action though......
