Let it be known in real life history this is the last Emperor (Go-Daigo) to actually do something until the Meiji restoration:

Quirky characters abound in this series:
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1012888
It's also important to remember that the Emperor also has a significant religious aspect as well. They are the descendants of the son of Amaterasu, and so not only perform holy duties but act as a link between Earth and Heaven. Killing them is a big no-no. It's why the Shogunate didn't just kill them and take over as Emperor in the first place. Just set them aside in a Palace and created the Shogunate to "oversee" things. Kinda like an all-powerful Prime Minister.
Fun fact: The Japanese Imperial line is the longest unbroken royal bloodline in the world. It goes back over 1000 years.
Traditionally Japanese woman are supposed to look servile, but we all know that's a bunch of hogwash.

I like the idea of a map, or instructional booklet, to give insight into a master's mindset. Sets the character up to grow over time rather than doing a training arc or asspulling something last second.
As always, an enjoyable chapter.
Let the Lovecraft begin:

Well, that's what I consider a nice twist. Didn't see it coming and it adds to Takauji's character. Also nice save at the end.

Potential spoilers for neuro and assassination classroom
! Neuro (and assclass - what was the source of the special particles they were infusing into flesh anyway) demonic continuity when??
Do we think this is a case of possession then? No memories of the event, superhuman and demonic, yadda yadda.
I have read both Neuro and Assclass and have no idea what anything in the spoiler tag actually means.^^'
Not even “but for me it was Tuesday” moment, that was brutally cold.
No posesion and no demonic origin, he just destroyed the clan on a whim (maybe it seemed a good idea at the time?) and doesn't care about the kid. If anything, he's a psychopath.
Oh, we established he was a psychopath way before.
I just want it to be demonic fr and not garden variety psychopathy with cool visuals for vibes. When True Detective was airing I got so excited thinking we had a Lovecraftian horror story unfolding in the modern day. Each episode would descend further and further into madness as they pulled the thread of the case. Instead, it was just murder or whatever, which was fine but not as cool.
! Neuro not so much, but Korosensei's origin isn't given at the beginning of the series, so anyone who hasn't read it yet wouldn't know he was made by forcibly bonding some unexplained particles to his flesh
Tokiyuki's uncle is the best. I hope we get more of him:
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1013111
Normally I'd say that it depends on how much this story will vary from actual historical events but Yasuie basically disappeared from historical accounts after escaping the failed Mikado assassination plot so pretty much anything using him is fair game.
Bug-eyes is back:

And will someone tell me WHY his clothes are covered in ants?!
Once again, the expressions in this series are beyond words:

And look! A little memory of Bland-Faced Guy!
Yay, Bland-Faced Guy has not been forgotten. 10/10 chapter for that!
Old fashioned Japanese pillows suck:
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1013166
And another question of "how much armor is too much armor?"
That's the true reason samurai are considered to be awesome, they had pillow fights with old fashioned Japanese pillows.
Also I'd say it's only too much armor when plot becomes a plot type of armor.

This guy is like the king of rapists:

I confess that I read this manga every week but I don't really know what's happening. I just see cool fights and characters.
You forget sometimes that this author doesn't hold back:
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014441
Which is a good thing to see.
What did he do to the pony?!
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014470
And why does that guy have pointy elf ears?
I think he's doing chest compressions to the horse to increase his heart rate.

A more proper question would be what else he has done to the horse to "stimulate" it.
All I can keep thinking is, "that poor horse".

KILL THIS MOTHERFUCKING HORSE KILLER!!!!
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014727
So what's the proper terminology for situations like these. Is it a one night ride?
Directly into another combat arc? Kinda wearing thin, mix it up a bit.
Will someone please, PLEASE, kill this horse abuser?
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014744
That said, can you imagine someone like Ulysses S. Grant increasing the morale of his troupes by riding around in a glitter tux?
Bland-faced Guy makes a cameo!
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1014717
Best character in the entire series. If they ever do a character poll I'd be disappointed if he wasn't in the top ten.
I can't take it anymore . . .
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1015184
Honestly what a waste. I hope they salvage this somehow by making it so that the soldiers eat the meat of the slain horses
Fun fact: Japanese do eat horse meat. I mean, not everyone, but you will find horse meat in various places. Pardon me while I barf.

It's more common around the world than you'd think
We got baited with the "horse meat is actually healthy and stuff" arguments from previous chapters to lessen the blow of this guy sucking on horse brain.
Tried some myself when I visited Kumamoto. Not bad.
I've taken too many horseback riding lessons to ever eat horse meat.
Yeah, there's plenty of horse meat restaurants around here. I don't eat there regularly but every once in a while I have some. As darktravis said, it's not bad at all.
@Ivotas Where do you live, if I may ask? Because I've never seen anywhere that prepares horse meat.
@Johnny-B-Decent
I live in Fukuoka.
@Ivotas Neat! I remember that Nakasu was featured in Yakuza 5. Fukuoka and Osaka seem more fun and easy going then Tokyo.
@Johnny-B-Decent
Yeah, I remember some of my friends going nuts that Nakasu would be in Yakuza 5. Still have to play any installment of the series.
As far as the city is concerned, it's really a fantastic little city. I also always say that I didn't move to Japan but to Fukuoka. This place really means a lot to me.
I'm a Kyoto girl through and through, but Fukuoka and Kyuushu are their own little worlds. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the temple there that had the huge pond with ancient koi fish in it.

I can't. I just can't. It would be hard to say it to a nice Japanese person offering it to me, but I wouldn't have a choice.

In Honshu I've just been a weekend in Osaka which is far too little to experience the city. Anything else I haven't seen and only travelled around Kyushu. When you mention pond with huge Koi in it I immediately think of Ohori Park but there's no temple there so I'm having a hard time remembering which one had a pond from back then when I was still a tourist and actually checking those places out. Was it perhaps close to Hakata station?
I can't. I just can't. It would be hard to say it to a nice Japanese person offering it to me, but I wouldn't have a choice.
Actually Japanese people are very understanding if you tell them if you can't eat a specific type of food. You don't have to feel bad about it at all.
Chapters like this remind me that this is a historical manga, and when something's historical you already know how it ends:
https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/1015176
About that, I wonder if this will pull an Inglourious Basterds near the end.
