That would actually be such a Todo thing to do. I just love the guy.

Maki just needed to be a lil more loosely goosey. That's all.
That really is the biggest difference between her and toji at this point. Now all she lacks is the experience to match.
-
Never understimate Grand Sumo.
-
Ok, I like sumo guy. He's a cool one.
Ass whooping incoming, I hope.

This is 100% the part where the editor needed to come in and put on some brakes.

Agreed. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely am on board with the development happening and the direction this is taking. But I really had a tough time understanding what was going on in some places. Like what is Naoya even trying to say at the end?
-
Naoya while a chauvinistic pig has also been in the shadow of whatshisname, megumi’s dad, so Maki being a woman and using the style of the man who put him in his place, and if mr dad followed the rules would have been the next head, or at least another monster I can’t remember if the divine restriction made them unelegible for the position, is a double whammy of humiliation, and him standing “with them” is at least deadbeat dad, no idea who are the others but I’d bet on Gojo.
-
Thanks, that definitely help clear things up.^^
-
No problem, I get lost with this series a lot, now that sumo guy uses something that should have been domain expansion (wacky rules sealed space) but they called it the mini domain thing, simple domain, that shouldn’t be this fancy or have time compression.
I’m also at a loss on if these people are sorcerers, sealed artifacts activating on random people, or idunno what, internet keeps telling me the second but I don’t get the vibe out of them of the other artifact resurrections, specially with how wacky they are. They feel like randos who won powers by accident to me.
-
They surely are a weird bunch aren't they. But funnily enough I don't seem to have an issue with their existence. Doesn't help that I'm getting lost most of the times. I surely look forward to see all of this in the anime some day.
-
Naoya inflated sense of self tells him he's the only one that can stand close to Toji.
The guy always had a crush on his powerless uncle despite being a sorcerer supremacist. And the CEO of misogyny. -
I get the direction and what's happening but with the whole sumo guy and samurai guy jumping in being both funny and serving as plot devices that is so conveniently placed while being so absurdly weird makes me question that the ground to realism part of this series just took a nosedive in this fight.
-
Feels like this fight is coming to a close, so hopefully we'll be on to the next fight or whatever in another chapter or two. Fingers crossed. I don't want it to go on and on and on like kinji's fight did.

I mean, I think they got text boxes explaining they are ancient sorcerers who are back for the culling games.

Some really lovely pages this chapter. Hopefully we're finally free of naoya.
-
@QueenTangerine3 What!??? why would Naoya be freed?
-
@kevo_koma "free of naoya" as in we'd finally be rid of him/ freed from his presence.
*Though I've seen some theorize he could hang around as a worm pal for maki like the lil worm buddy toji utilized in the hidden inventory arc. I don't want that thought. I want him gone for good.
-
@QueenTangerine3 ah I read that wrong. Yeah I also hope we are free of the whole Zenin clan right now
-
Wait, is there a new chapter? I have nothing on Manga Plus.

I didn't expect plot progression, so that was nice. I guess angel was one of Sukuna's enemies through time. Or maybe even led the mob who killed him in the first place.
-
Glad to be moving on to what seems like the next phase of the games. Good time for a break from the constant fighting.
-
So, what's he deal with Maki/Mai's mother? Is that something that we've yet to see or is that something I somehow forgot?
And did the angel girl just call Megumi the destined one?
-
@kouch_lee Maki killed her mother and regrets not asking and talking to her sincerely about why she treated them the way she did. Her mother lived her life as an accessory to man and to the clan and expected her daughters to do the same. Only during the final moments of her life did she showed how she really felt about it and killed Naoya, although Maki will never know.
Noritoshi is starting to go down that path as we see him observing his mother's new life and feeling negative thoughts about probably being abandoned and started going deeper into his own thoughts, possibly misunderstanding the truth of the situation but we know that this chapter his mother still really cares. So Maki advice is for him to actually have a conversation with her.
-
@zeltrax225 Ok, thanks for the answer.
I completely forgot Maki's mom stabbing Naoya. Like, 100%. To me, that sequence ended when Maki defeated him.
I'll go and reread that part.
-
For as much as I love this series I really suck badly at either noticing or remembering such key moments from happening. Not only do I not remeber Maki's mother killing Naoya, I don't even remember Maki killing her mother. That's some really heavy shit there and it all went way over my head.

To be fair there was a lot of killing going over that arc. And we only saw Maki's mom when Naoya talked about abusing Mei, when Maki confronted her, and when she backstabbed the CEO of misogyny.

You aren't alone! I'm the same way. I love the series but for some reason its events and details don't stick in my brain the same way they do when I read one piece or certain other series.

While there certainly was a lot of fighting going on, I don't think that I'm free of blame here. I just don't seem to approach the series with the proper mindset when reading it. I usually tackle it like an easy to digest read, while I do think that putting a bit more focus into it would work wonders for me getting more out of it.

Finally caught up to this manga.
I liked the lawyer dude for character and the electricity dude for how good a fighter he is and I love the powers of the sky lady. Cant say I gave any shit about the maki fight.

What plan with America? Sounds like yet another part of the series that went way over my head. -
Man, I love Itadori's sheer altruism. Even back in Shibuya, he was willing to die before Sukuna's massacre solely because he don't mind if his death is able to contribute to a greater cause. He's straight up suicidal at this point.

Anyways, I had to re-read Kenjaku's plan and. . .I still don't fully get it, but sounds like the end result is basically Evangelion's third impact? the merge with Tengen (who is now basically in tune with the planet, so like the spirit of the Earth or something?), the evolution beyond mere sorcerers, the boundaries between individuals disappearing... - all humanity becomes a river of cursed energy or some shit?

I'm afraid so, yeah.
I went and spoiler-ed my part of the discussion, too little too late, I know. I'll do that from now on.
Again, sorry.
-
@kouch_lee to be honest no one knows for sure. We can make some guesses here and there but what we do know is that he wants to fuse humankind with Tengen (the how is unknown) but culling game, which collects a huge amount of cursed energy is his way to do it. Tengen is an immortal and enlightened being and is the whole reason why Cursed energy is prominent and originated from Japan and why it stays in Japan (because his barriers regulates and controls it within the country). If you remember the use of curtain (a barrier that hides a place from the citizens) so that Sorcerors can exorcise spirits, well they were only able to do it because of Tengen. That's one part of the reason why he is so important.
That and he is also inferred to be the origin of all cursed techniques. In Gojo's flashback, he was supposed to merge with a vessel to prolong his status as a human (the girl in gojo flashback) but with her killed, he had no choice but to evolve and become a cursed spirit.
This state of being a cursed spirit led him to merge with the world and because of this merger, he no longer has a "body" and is a being above any concepts (aka enlightenment) and is now a part of the world.
But he is STILL a cursed spirit and that means Kenjaku is able to eat him (because of Geto's powers) and consume his powers and execute his plans. So while the third impact is close it's not exactly that because third impact was human instrumentality (everyone becomes one?) but this is an evolution in which the individual still has their sense of self but is forced, through natural selection, to evolve into a higher being that is above sorcerers and humans.
Tengen now regulates cursed energy so only a select few have it, Kenjaku wants to consume Tengen, and use him to forced cursed energy in humankind aka unregulate everything and cause ALL of humankind to be able to have cursed energy. All for the sake of observing, like a mad scientist does, and to create the next step of evolution for cursed energy/spirits/sorcerors/humanity. He probably can consume Kenjaku now, let's say if he succeeds in attacking the place, but for some reason is stopped by the limits of not having enough cursed energy to pull the entire thing merger off. We are not sure why but it's the reason why the games exist.

There doesn't seem to be much of general approach from what I've seen so far. To be it seems like the mods don't really give a fuck if anything that isn't One Piece get's spoilered which I find rather disappointing.
And what's done is done. No need for you guys to feel bad. Will teach myself to stay away from these threads around this time of the week.
-
The general policy before the forum was down was to spoiler tag comments on scan chapters.
-
Hmmm not sure I like the attempt to expand beyond Japan with this story? Don't really see the need for it??? Idk. This is one story I think would do fine taking place within the confines of just Japan, so adding a foreign power (USA ofc lol) into the mix seems unnecessary to me. Like I'm fine with some of the Culling games contestants being from out of town or country or whatever but I don't need another country dragged into this story. I know kenjaku's aiming for the world, but I have no interest in actually seeing how that plays out concerning other countries and governments.
-
the war for cursed oil and techniques of mass destruction is about to begin
-
It's too early for me to judge whether the involvement of other countries is something we needed or not. I would definitely need to see more about how this affects the story. As it is now I don't know how to feel about it.
-
If anything, the fact that Japan is apparently the only place with cursed energy when there are clearly curse users and cursed objects from other countries/cultures is weird. They referenced that weird African rope that Gojo destroyed, Nobara's technique is voodoo which is not Japanese and pretty sure some of the one-off characters were foreigners.
