Haven’t played in a week, but if you lock in to them, the game should show you what is their alert status with an icon above the targeting reticle.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

As someone who doesn't really use mints due to a desire to see the listed nature actually displayed, I was really bugged at the unavoidable save after catching Dialga especially with a unique ball . (admittedly I already have my perfect Dialga in BD after 10883 Sr for a shiny). Currently trying to get a Timid Arceus, before moving onto any of the daybreak update quests/content.
I do worry that there isn't going to feel like there is as much replayability value compared to other Mainline games. I will go for shiny charm, and may try perfect dex. I have enjoyed the freshness of this game, but do hope Gen 9 returns to having plenty of civilisations and trainers to battle.
I do get with the period that it makes sense for very few trainers, but I would've still enjoyed to see more tribes and settlements - but they could've had more outposts greater in size than campsites that maybe had prerequisites to upgrade them. I did like that we had to earn greater item purchasing capabilities and do quests for campsites.
One more personal musing I have noticed is that i rarely use any of the crafted items in this game - for feeding pokemon I just mainly use oran berries, peapods or salt (basically chuck at random until they eat, and use healing items less so. Stealth oil and smoke bombs are great though).
As for great money making techniques does anyone have advice as want to get those final few pouch slots and all the clothing options. I am peeved as have plenty of all shard types except red ones and hate waiting for Distortions, and don't wanna just sell basic star dust. I've gotten through everything really without using grits, and guess they are viable for selling. But I wonder how IVs will transfer into other games when Home compatibility arrives (as far as I'm aware nothing can be beyond lvl 3 in a stat when catching).
Also I think it is very likely that there will be a nightfall DLC as a daybreak Paralel. With Gen 9 Coming does it seem that any paid DLC won't happen and support will finish for the game pre Gen 9 Release. (As when capturing Arceus the line about the Arceus form just being a fraction of him makes me wonder if any Zygarde like forms based on % of true strength).
People in the UK make sure you get your free Hisuan Growlithe from game…..... (what an uninspired event giveaway) but I've heard it is meant to be a hidden ability one when eventually transferred. Shame Intimidate is better in all regards.
This feels like a very unfocused post for me haha, but it's just random musings and thoughts I've not had chance to discuss. My final grievance before signing off is The Shiny Galarian Bird distributions. I've been signing up and doing them (need to hit my 3 fights for Zapdos), but it just feels like it was poorly advertised to the masses and such an exclusionary event to non comptetive players (I do know you can just lose).
-
I had to look up how to get to Brava Arena. Navigating the Mirelands is a pain.
-
Managed to get a Petil by learning to jump a river. Actually HAD a Sun Stone by beating an alpha(!). Have decided to use Liligant and my Sylveon as exchangeable 'mons depending on the area being traversed. Because sometimes it's better to have a fighting 'mon than a Fairy 'mon (or vice versa). And I don't want my poor Gastrodon being the only one who can take down the Rock or Ground types.
-
I plan to do my next PLA playthrough with certain rules: no purchasing any items that are craftable, no level grinding (natural progression), no alpha or legendary in my team, there can't be more than one of the same type or types, no using revives during battle…
I suppose Gen 9 will also have item crafting since it will be full open world, so I'll also start with that same setting.

Heh that’s almost exactly how I played the first time. I mean, I had one Alpha on my team for a while but it wasn’t even overleveled compared to my main team by that point. Hard to define grinding though. Just completing the dex will naturally make you pretty strong. I guess I did eventually have one overlapping type when I replaced Glaceon with a shiny Mamoswine (Ground overlap with Gliscor) but that was in post-game.
-
Arcanine is harder than it looks.
-
What’s your favorite Pokémon type? Mine is Fairy
Although I really love Fighting, Psychic and Ghost types too
-
I don't have a favorite type.
But animal species, I could name you a bunch.
-
I think most of the types are pretty cool, but steel is my type.
-
Should I get the remakes and Legends before Gen 9 comes out?

Legends for sure. BDSP? Eh…probably not.
-

Hey I gotta catch em all so why not get them for collection reasons. :3

Hey, you asked. But sure, if you want to complete your dex having BDSP certainly won't hurt. And BDSP isn't bad, it's just there isn't a whole lot to it.
-
I took a Legends break b/c I've been so busy, but I think I'll go back. Still don't know if I can beat that damn Arcanine.

Dragon types definitely (I love everything dragons), but I have a huge love for Water types. The most useful pokemon there are, and seriously the only types they are weak to are Grass and Electric. I almost always choose Water starter.
-

agreed my friend

I like Electric types. Electricity means Speed, with some exceptions. Pure Electric types, while only strong against Water & Flying types, come with only one weakness, and in the case of the Tynamo line, no weakness. They are also quite versatile, having a wide range of varied moves to learn.
One could say the mascot of the franchise was specifically chosen because of that.
-
Psychic types will always be my first love since, like many kids, I abused the hell out of them in Gen 1.
Electric and Fire types are cool too, though I'm often hesitant about putting fire-types in my team since I find it to be rather redundant in terms of battle.
-
Supposedly a new trailer for Scarlet/Violet will be released next Friday. Rumor has it will mainly focus on the open world setting.
-
Hi guys i recently redownloaded Go after not having it for years. I have been having fun with it but im at a point now where most of my research task are about getting more friends. So i was wondering if any of you would like to help me? My friendcode is 6313 8355 9637
-
I'm trying not to think too much about Scarlet and Violet or I'll vibrate into the next dimension out of excitement, lol. That being said I've already decided on fuecoco as my starter. I love my doofy idiot son <3
-
I'll likely choose Quaxly. Because A. I almost always choose Water starters, B. It's based on a Blue Footed Booby, and C. It's an obvious shout-out to Donald Duck. So yeah, unless they release the evolutions and one looks way cooler or has a better type combo, I'll stick with this.
-
I was undecided for a while. Sprigatito is boring, Quaxly is weird to me, and Fuecoco looks dumb as hell. Unfortunately for me, I like pokemon that look doofy, so I came around. I'm sure Fuecoco will evolve into something badass as fire types tend to do, but his first form just looks like such an idiot that I can't not choose him, lol.
-
I love both Quaxly and Fuecoco
I hate Sprigatito, and usually grass types are my jam
What time is the trailer coming out tomorrow?
-
There was a new trailer yesterday and there's plenty to talk about overall.
-
There's a new feature that allows you to send a pokemon out to find items, auto battle other pokemon, and explore the field while you do whatever you want. It's not quite the brilliance (imo) of Legends' collecting and battling experience, but i think it bodes well for the future of the franchise and new methods to control and roleplay as a pokemon trainer.
-
I am cautiously optimistic…. very cautiously… I am pessimistically optimistic regarding this game. I really disliked SwSh and skipped every Pokémon game since (despite actually being interest in Snap), but I want to believe since this one will mostly just reuse assets they can focus on content this time.

Things I noted:
- Having the new "Team" be the school bullies is a good one. We all hate bullies.
- Klawf makes me laugh. I don't know why. Maybe the eyes. If that's a Rock/Water type I might just have to use it.
- Geeta looks awesome. Is she supposed to be Indian? Or a callback to the Moors who used to inhabit the Spanish peninsula?
- WHAT are those flamethrower/sword things?
Either way, getting me more excited. Still have to decide between Scarlet and Violet.

Klawf is pure Rock. It was properly introduced on the website along with the two Mega Mon (Armarouge and Ceruledge): https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/pokemon/

Damn, Ceruledge might actually make me decide on Violet.
-
I'm getting really frustrated with the advertising for this gen. They're like "Heres all these cool things you can do!!!!" Then its "yeahtheressomenewpokemoniguess"
Also Im not a huge fan of the in-game style theyre going for for the human characters. They looks so bland and generic. This transfers over into Team Star, who have the potential to be the next Team Skull but lack any of the panache they had. Its all "I untucked my shirt and rolled up my sleeves. And I have a saftey helmet. SO REBELLIOUS" Maybe its just the school setting thats bugging me. It adds a uniformity to alot of things that normally would be more individualized.
-
Team Star look like bullies in the same ways that MCU Flash Thompson is a "bully." They're sneaking off campus on their mopeds during lunch to get boba from the mall. Truly rebellious.
-
Mela looks like a serious rebel. All the goons just look like "bad" students.
-
So there's this. This is a thing now:
https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/pokemon/wiglett/It's not a Diglett variant, it's just a pokémon that looks exactly like Diglett but is an entirelly different species. Wiglett.
I mean, sure, there is real life basis for this (9 out of 10 words people seem to bring up right now are convergent evolution), but it feels pretty underwhelming to have a whole different pokémon concept be just another pokémon done again. If it was "Diglett but with a twist", but no. It's just Diglett.
I will give it the benefit of the doubt and hope it will not evolve into a Wigtrio, but skeptical. So far, I am not really crazy about this gen's dex. I surprisingly like the legendaries (I never care about those, so that's a good sign), but so far there isn't a single new pokémon that made me feel like I really want to use it.
So far Venonat is the only pokémon I am looking forward to finally use. -

That aside retreads are nothing new. How many crabs have there been? How many normal/flying birds? Opening area rodents? Spiders? Bats? Snakes? Caterpillars-butterflies? Electric rats with cheek pouches?
Heck, they took Purloin which was a fantastic design in gen 5... and put it on its hind legs to make it an awkward Meowth clone in gen 6.
This one is maybe a little more similar than others but retreads are nothing new.
-
I mean, we've already had a Pikachu clone in every generation.
-
Does Marill count as a pikachu clone?
-

Well, Gen 2 had Pichu. Not exactly a clone, but a prevo, but still an extension of the Pikachu lineage.
-
@Nobodyman I personally love Marill outside of him the only other pikachu clone I care for is Mimikyu
-
I like the bread dog.
..That's about it. -
@Robby
It would be less exasperating if there weren't so many animals that haven't even been touched. No bottlenose dolphins, no hummingbirds, no llamas, no roaches, no termites, no swordfishes. -

No bottlenose dolphins,
https://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/thumb/6/66/788Tapu_Fini.png/250px-788Tapu_Fini.pngI was dissapointed too but to just pretend it doesn't exist...
-
I'll be honest; I legitimately did not know it existed. On the other hand, that looks more like a mermaid with elements of a swordfish as opposed to a bottlenose dolphin.
-
All of the Tapus are funky. But they definitely ARE the animal theyh're supposed to be... just really stylized and not the way we wanted.

Ceruledge has my serious interest. It's why I've decided on getting Violet.
-
@Robby even as an artist I can't make out the dolphin in this
-
Pretty sure Tapu Fini's meant to be a swordfish/marlin.
-
Yeah, calling that a dolphin (of any kind) is like calling Gorebyss one (something I have seen stated).
-
From that list, we already got a roach as well.
Although Pheromosa might have twisted the concept a bit too much. So while I really like her (and most Ultra Beasts), I still want a typical cockroach "representative".
