Are they still making the Devil May Cry Netflix series? And they better make Arcane season 2

I recently realized that Bruce Timm posts fairly regularly on animesuperhero (formerly Toonzone), a forum I've been on for many years now. Funny that he was on there the whole time and I didn't even notice. In any case, he posts some pretty interesting stuff about BTAS and other DCAU
I believe his post history should be available to non-members, and you can read them here. His last post was just last November.
-
That's nice…but I mean, they probably needed a place to share his Harley fart fetish or push his Bruce x Barbara.
-

-
. . . . is that stop-motion or just really fucked up CGI? And are we sure this isn't directed by Guillermo del Toro?
-
Phil Tippett so it's stop-motion; he started on Mad God while working on Robocop 2, quit during Jurassic Park, and then went back to work on it about ten years ago.
-
That's a passion project right there.
-
Rise of TMNT Movie was a fucking blast. Good shit. Good shit.
-
Does it require you to have watched the series?
-
@andre No, they made the movie with the intention that it could be an entry point - so they toned down on certain things the series has touched.
-
@pariston_hill thanks! I'll definitely have to check it out. I've loved them since the early 90s and really loved the early 2000s show.
-
If you like the movie I highly recommend checking the series. It's quite good, even if it ended up being axed in S2 the fight animation is some of the most fluid and kinetic in recent tv.
-
While we were out, the entire animatic for the Sony Popeye film leaked with music and dialogue.
-
@pariston_hill Would you say it's comparable to Spectacular Spider-Man?
-
@andre Can't say because because Spectacular is still on my to watch list.
-
@pariston_hill It's excellent. I highly recommend it if you're into Spider-Man at all.
-
Spectacular is highly recommended on the grounds that it finally managed to dethrone Batman Beyond as the best Spider-Man show.
-
Anybody going to look into this?
I mean, it's Danny DeVito and his daughter playing Satan and his daughter.
-
I recently saw The Sea Beast on Netflix which might be my contender for "pretty good movie that I so badly wish was transcendent" award this year. The cinematography here is AMAZING, and I love how completely earnest it is - no meta self-deprecation in sight, just a strong straightforward adventure. Theres damn near Master And Commander vibes in the initial swashbuckling escapades and I don't say that lightly. The characters are also pretty interesting and richly drawn...that is, the adult/human characters. Sadly, even though she's plucky and likeable I didn't think the lead child character fully worked - she lacks any introspection or clear arc, and very much becomes a mouthpiece for the movies themes, talking in that profoundly wise way that kids only talk in movies when they need to teach adults a lesson. And while I totally admire the themes the story ties to tackle, it feels a tad overambitious for the movies length - like it needed an additional 25% runtime, or a complete reprioritization of the plot, to sell what it ultimately wants to sell.
Still its pretty good, and the first hour is GREAT.

HBO Max is gonna purge from the catalogue a lot of CN shows, Bravo Discovery.
-
Infinity Train and OK KO are the only loss on there. But man, infinity Train just can not catch a break.
In other news, the Tartovsky Popeye film that was canclelled has leaked tot he internet with the full storyboard/animatics and voices. It was on youtube. It's not there now, but I'm sure you can find it if you sail the high seas.
-
People seem pretty sad about Summer Camp island too, which had an entire unaired season done.
Also they've been purging Sesame Street and Elmo, because to hell with kids I guess
-
-
it's heartbreaking, really. my heart goes out for anyone directly involved in these canned (and purged?) series.
-
I'm more or so annoyed about the situation for both Close Enough (Thankfully, I watch Season 3 before they took it off.) and OK KO. This is making me wonder if the new season of Total Drama is still going to happen or not.
-
Apparently a lot of this was done all at the same time because they wouldn't have been able to write this material off for tax purposes after the next few weeks.
Anyway, on the subject of lost media:
There's also a several hours long documentary on the backstory that lead to this failed attempt as well as the search and finding of the pilot. Here's part one:
-
Not really; stuff that's already been aired and shown can't be written off for tax purposes (unlike with the Batgirl movie, which can be). From what I gather, this has more to do with the fact Discovery doesn't want to pay residual to people who made that stuff that they're owned through their unions.
-
It's disgusting. Probably one of the most disgusting things to ever happen in the industry, even if you didn't care about any of those series/projects.
-
But wait it get's worse:

Ow, my brain hurts. I think I need to go watch the original opening a dozen times now to go purge that.
-
This Discovery thing is really making worry about a couple things like the new season of Total Drama is still going to happen. As well the future of AEW on both TBS and TNT. Since AEW's tv deal with Warner/Discovery is up at the end of 2023.
-
@Robby I always thought you would like Mao Mao.
-
So much for WBD knowing what they’re doing and doing right
-
Dang.... This is just getting scary.
-
Zaslav: "Scripted shows on MY network?! Scripted ANIMATE shows on MY network. Get out of here."
For the time Hulu still has these:
-
When was the last time Uncle Grandpa was being talked in any sort of capacity?
-
Look up the date the last episode aired; it'd have been about six months before that.

Wasn't being written off the reason Toonami yanked Sym-Bionic Titan and Beware the Batman partway through their runs though? Both of those shows had already aired.
Same for Megas XLR.
And writing these shows off for taxes is a way to justify screwing those people out of their residuals on top of eliminating debt for Zaslav's bad business decisions; it's not an either/or situation.

Isn't that kinda the whole plot of The Producers? In 55 years the US hasn't closed this loophole? Damn what a shithole.
-
I don’t know if the write off is why that weird as fuck hiatus happened in the middle of season 1 of Beware The Batman but I do think the write off is what happened after the show ultimately completed it’s run.
-
Is . . . is WB just getting rid of all their animation projects?
-
Also canned: the Batman TAS revival, and not one but two Loony Tunes movies, one of which was a musical. Sigh.
-
Fuck my life. And fuck Warner Brothers/Discovery.

The Gumball Movie to be passed around to another network/streaming
Bothered more by Batman: Caped Crusader being passed around to another network/streaming. Wonder who might pick that up. Dunno if this was talked in other DC threads.

Wow, I was looking forward to that revival so much. Can WB please lose about 90 % of their subscribers for this horrible bullshit?
-
Hold on, there was a Steve Urkel Christmas Story in the works?
