Music themed movie, she must have the music music no mi, the superior class version of Apoo's fruit. But then brook should take her down, in music battle.
New One Piece Movie: RED (6th August 2022) !!

-
And Usopp is basically Gene Simmons.
Yup and we have Robin as Michael Jackson
Chopper is Apple Music
-
maybe it's a musical? lol, that would be a hard blown for most fans. I'm open to it after watching Encanto, but I don't recall many musicals in the anime industry anyway
Luffy and Zoro look the most bland of the bunch. Which is a shame, I could surely see Luffy rocking some of Elton John's or Prince's looks, and Zoro could do a bit more Sid Vicious to me. Chopper is the stereotype of an idol fan; Usopp is cosplaying K.I.S.S. (with assymetrical make up lol); Jimbe being a daddy-o thus going for Elvis seems just right; Franky, obviously the freakieast, plays as a boombox; Brook going rapper is a win in my book; Nami as a LSD-consummer-rave-enthusiast was not what I thought would be Oda first go to - not bad; Sanji as a rich playboy who attends chic music festivals seems on brand, and I like it (yes, shorts included) but Oda could have gone further with the blonde; Robin's seems a bit like a cool aunt who still goes to rock concerts and it's on brand for her, but I wish Oda had her go bold on her fashion statements - she could easily rock something Bowie used.
-
Wow, Franky looks like Blaster from The Transformers.
-
I guess her name being Uta is 100% factual then.
-
I hope Megumi Nakajima voices Uta.
-
Robin's is definitely the best thus far
-
In One Piece Magazine Vol. 14 we can see that Oda's original Robin design hasn't the bra/bikini.
!
But she has it in the design showed on Twitter by official film account :ninja:
-
Ughhhh, just realized they colored Robin’s eyes blue again instead of the much more charming brown color presented in Strong World and Z. It’s a pet peeve of mine, yuck.
Flavor texts:
Chopper “There’s a room filled to the brim with books over there!”
Robin “Could it be that this music score hides a secret meaning?”
-
Oda, you pervert.
-
Part of Shanks desing
-
Ah, I don't think I've seen him with that pants design before.
-
Predicting this design will be a around 20 years old Shanks for a flashback
-
Teaser trailer 2 in around 12 hours!!
-
Expecting half of the duration to just showcase the new costume designs
-
! Usopps design reminds me of the road warriors and gene simmons. Its awesome…

Shanks' daughter?
Are you fucking kidding me? -
Uta still looking cute.
-
@All:
Shanks' daughter?
Are you fucking kidding me?I mean….he's probably the father of Makino's son. :ninja:
-
Ok, I speak ZERO Japanese so I got nothing from it. Somehow my CC of the trailer is in Arabic (which I ALSO know nothing). What's going on?
Law, Bepo (the beer belly i'm meltinggggg), Barto, Sakazuki and Kobi were there, cool
Edit: Oh, got some english subtitles and it seems that Uta is the main villain indeed. And an idol…or maybe OP's version of Mariah Carey (it does calls her a diva). Are we going to see Luffy punching a girly tot on the big screen? big if true, last time he did that bitch saved a whole ass country.
And LOL I think Uta doesn't have the right arm??? The trailer has this static in which her left arm seems really twisted in a Vinsmoke way and her other shots are suspiciously hiding it.
Gordon design itches my need to watch Oda go full Toriyama and make crazy character designs for games, lol.
-
@All:
Shanks' daughter?
Are you fucking kidding me?Honestly, not that surprised.
A character having red hair wouldn't be noteworthy in and of itself, but between the initial poster specifically noting that the female lead has "fiery red locks" (or half-red, going by her final design), the film's logo having Shanks' scars worked into its design, and Shanks himself having a cameo at the end of the initial reveal trailer, I felt it was pretty much inevitable that they'd be related somehow.
-
Since it's a huge theme in OP, Uta can still be Shanks adopted child. Which lessens the blow a bit, but still makes all the lines from the teasers truthfull.
I'm open to Makino's baby having a sister though
-
I honestly kind had an inkling that was the case once I saw her poster and Shanks being involved. I guess that means Shanks won't really be in the film outside of flashback and a cameo. You know how these films like to make a big deal about characters appearing in the film and it's just a glorified cameo at best. Meh. Though Shanks being her goddaughter of sorts to Makino, mmm maybe. Who knows, neh.
Also calling it now Uta only the villain because she's being manipulated into it if the footage is any indication.
-
Last Ol' Yonko's child unlocked. Now I am waiting for Black Beard Jr.
-
yeap, Uta seems be someone vulnerable to manipulation. Guess the wings come from the mother side? There' some shots in which Uta appears to be wingless…maybe it's artificial? Props for stage presentation?
Her power seems to be kinda h4x, that last blast seems to be like end-game special that will put all in risk of destruction or something like that.
Hmmm, music and One Piece kinda makes it obligatory to envolve Binks no Sake in some degree...right?
-
Against all logic and likelihood, I feel like Uta for new nakama is a team I could be on.
-
HUGE reveal. I hope that this means fans will start to analyze Film Gold, Stampede, and Film Z some more too.
Strong World gave us Gigant Thor Axe and that was a MAJOR hint. What else is in these movies?

The identity of the mysterious girl who holds the key to the story is “Uta,” the daughter of the Red-Haired Shanks!
The story takes place on an island where Uta, the world’s favorite diva, performs for the first time in public. Uta’s singing voice, which she sings with while concealing her true identity, has been described as “otherworldly,” and while the venue is filled with the Straw Hats led by Luffy, pirates, navy, and fans from all over the world who have come to enjoy her voice, Uta’s voice is heard in a new light. The curtain rises on the story with the shocking revelation that she is “Shanks’ daughter!“
In the teaser trailer, the young Uta and Shanks stand shoulder to shoulder in the background, and Shanks says, “Uta, Though we’re apart, you’ll always be my daughter.”The trailer depicts a young Uta shedding tears, her growth and appearance on a live stage as a diva loved around the world, and Luffy’s rage at Uta’s name, making the content of this film even more compelling!
-
Whatever happens, I hope that Uta is interesting not just because of her association with Shanks. That's like telling us to be interested in Ace just because he's Roger's son.
-
This post is deleted!
-
“Uta” is Japanese for “song.” Is her mother from Wano?
-
Shanks does feel like the kind of person who would have, knowingly or not, a trail of offspring scattered around the One Piece world.
Dropping a bombshell like that (yeah, the entire fandom just assumes that Shanks is the father of Makino's child, but it's never been officially supported AFAIK) so casually in the teaser of a movie screams red herring/marketing misdirection to my cynical self, but hey if Oda and Toei can make an interesting story and character out of it, go all the way and have Uta be his actual biological/adopted daughter than go for it, I say! Just please don't make a thrust of her motive for opposing Luffy being envy that he's Shanks's favorite or something like that.
I've always considered the Films (note that Stampede does not have that branding) to be pseudo-canonical in the sense that the characters, backstories, and lore that introduce are valid with the manga canon - like the Gran Tesoro exists and has dealings with both Doflamingo and the Celestial Dragons, the pirate that slaughtered Zephyr's students and severed his arm being Weevil, and of course Oda continues to reference Shiki to this very day - even if the actual events can't fit in. Strong World is the easiest of them to crowbar into the manga canon, and even then it takes a bit of handwaving.
-
Didn't realize until now how Shanks usually wears brown pants.
-
I wonder if we will get Shanks full name in this movie.
I could see such a reveal in a movie, we did get 'Raftel's official name in a movie for example.
-
Wait for Makino finding out that Shanks had another bitch and they have a child together
-
Film figures from different collections (Ichiban Kuji, The Grand Line Men/Lady, WCF…) announced!!

"Nami" is Japanese for "Wave". That doesn't mean she's from Wano.

Shanks tells her she is his daughter even if they are far away from each other and then at the end he says there is no peace or fairness in this world.
Luffy yells "There's no way Shanks will stay quiet when his daughter is doing this" .
-
Do we know if Kohei Tanaka is in charge of the music? I know it's a bit silly to ask but Film Gold was a thing.
-
Given how much emphasis is given to Uta's voice, I'd make a guess and say that she has the Koe Koe no Mi (Voice Voice Fruit), or otherwise the Uta Uta no Mi, (Song Song Fruit), being a character named after the Devil Fruit, like Toki and the Toki Toki no Mi.
-
Bold Move to make her his daughter I guess.
Although from the trailer i find it very odd for Luffy to chastise someone from doing something because their parent won't like it. Because, Luffy would never change his actions because his dad/grandpa didn't approve.
-
Damn, Shanks has a tiny head.
-

Yes, true. But the jarring incongruence between name origin (“Shanks” and “Uta” originating from different languages) has not gone unnoticed. I’m merely suggesting that it may be intentional.

Pretty obvious that Luffy's chastising Uta for doing something/choosing wrong. Nothing odd with it.

Eh, not really. Japanese names are quite common everywhere in One Piece.
Heck, the Germa siblings for example, who are named after Japanese numerals, plus their mother Sora. Yet, the patriarch is "Judge".
Or King Riku and his daughters Scarlet and Viola. Or Shirahoshi, daughter of Neptune.

Depends on what she's trying to do, and why…
I think it's relatively safe to assume that Uta is probably a good person at heart, and that whatever villainy she's doing is either being done under duress or because she believes it necessary to bring about a greater good, which likely means that she and Luffy will hit it off when they initially meet and the ultimate conflict between them will be in stopping her from doing something horrible that she'll deeply regret later, rather than just "beat 'em into the ground, then leave and let the Marines sort it out", a la Shiki, Zephyr, Tesoro, and Bullet.
I'm also willing to bet that Uta ultimately loves Shanks quite deeply, despite him being an absentee father, and probably the last thing she wants is to actually come into conflict with him - plenty of room for bad/missing parent angst, but I have a hard time imagining her going full Doflamingo based on what we've seen thus far. So this could be more of a "reality check" type situation, like Luffy's "fight" with Vivi outside Yuba in Alabasta, or possibly Ace desperately hoping that Whitebeard won't knowingly walk into a trap to try to rescue him from Marineford, despite knowing full well that he will.
If Uta has been running herself ragged trying to pull off her plan without getting her father involved (perhaps because she knows he'd try to stop her, perhaps because a secondary villain is trying to use her to bait Shanks into a trap, etc.) and it's clear to Luffy at a glance that Shanks would inevitably involve himself once he learns what's going on, then Luffy calling her out on that makes more sense, because it's cutting straight to her underlying motivations: "This thing you're trying to do isn't going to work out the way you want it to, and deep down you already know that!"

Even if Uta is not in the manga, I think a plot line like this will make it rather revealing in regards to sides of Shanks’ personality we haven’t seen.
