Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)

Maybe this time the arc is really ending? Also about this chapter
! I guess Blizzard transfered Pig God's energy to Tank Top Master to heal him somehow.
-
I just hope we can still have
Webcomic spoiler! Fubuki vs Psykos battle.
-
The chapter was pretty awesome, but Murata should focus all of his energy to finish arc, by giving us an epic Garou vs Saitama fight.
That's all I want.
Yes, there were a lot of changes compare to the webcomic, but nothing too problematic for me. -
Pig God for MVP! He's been working his butt off saving people this arc.

Yes, there were a lot of changes compare to the webcomic, but nothing too problematic for me.The only problem I have right now is that Garou seems to be not "bad guy" enough, he saved a ton of people including many heroes, he was a danger for the monsters, not for the heroes. In the webcomic the feeling was much different… but we'll see what happens in the next few chapters.
-
Why is Tank Top Master fat again?
-
Ok, so Fubuki and Pig God have an instant healer combo as long as enough monsters are around? What's stopping her from Fat Tatsu buff?
-
Why is Tank Top Master fat again?
Probably for the same reason Pig God got thin. Some sort of energy transfer healing from Fubuki.

Please no fat Tatsu…. no... It would be kinda funny, yeah, but no please.
Why is Tank Top Master fat again?
Good question
Probably for the same reason Pig God got thin. Some sort of energy transfer healing from Fubuki.
I'm not sure about this… It could be just because it looks funny, but why would Fubuki transfer ALL the "calories" from Pig God to Tank Top Master? And also, what happened to his muscles? They got covered in fat? Why? How does that make sense? Wouldn't his massive muscles burn the calories and fat to regain energy? And wouldn't it be better to "share" the "calories" among all the wounded, without making Tank Top Master overweight? Maybe I'm just overthinking
EDIT:
I'm an idiot, I didn't read the redraw where it literally shows Pig God helping Fubuki to heal Tank Top Master... -
I was re-reading some of the older re-re-re-drawn chapters and it's clear that at this point redraw is a different manga to the webcomic. I wonder why ONE decided to change it so much. I always thought the plan was to just basically follow the same outline as the webcomic and have the redraw catch up and then basically take over as the only one being updated. But then there was a massive divergence midway through the MA arc.

Redon, you are the best APF member.

Chatty chapter, now I'm eagerly waiting for the translation

–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I have some grievances with the shape this current arc took, but this one sure as hell ain't one:
!
-
God: Saitama was it? Why don't we step inside my office and have a little say … chat?
-
Garou is such a Tsundere
-
The new chapter was great, can't wait for more!
I really hope that Murata is finally on the path to start the epic Saitama vs Garou battle. -
Saitama swatting him aside and brushing off his speech was brilliant. It just undermines years of character progression, but in a comical/true to saitama way.
On another note, is anyone else focusing on the moon?
-
I love how pissed Saitama is ready to obliterate the earth over his destroyed house and rowdy neighbourhood. Not much action, but a really enjoyable chapter
-
Its getting more and more obvious that Saitama is the God-Level Threat that appears in the coming Months, Imo. Of course in a absurdly funny way, like no more special Offers in any Supermarket and/or bigger Problems with the Apartment … Who knows.
-

Deviantart… has already pressed the ´post´ button!!
-
Saitama just wants a quiet life. (Not really)

Which is all the weirder considering the webcomic seems to be continuing while staying it's course without accepting the changes that happen in the manga.
My guess(hope) is he's appealing to a more general audience for bigger bucks with the redraw, while keeping the webcomic closer to his actual vision for the story? /copium
-
That's exactly what I thought it was, which from an artistic point of view seems like the jackpot to me. He can do his webcoming the way he wants it and can do more mainstream or experimental stuff with the redraw. I can understand that some people would have hoped to have a one to one redraw but in the end the webcomic doesn't change. To me this is a good thing.
-
New chapters out, and it's taken a completely unexpected direction (in a good way).
-
I really like what I see. :)
Garou is getting more monstrous and Saitama is starting to enjoy the fight.
Couldn't ask for more.
Nice work, Murata-sensei! -
I think this is the only time Saitama's actually been aware of the situation/surroundings he's in. The contrast between now and fighting every other past opponent is unreal.
He just cut through everything that's been building up and got straight to the point. This might just be one of my favourite chapters.
-
Chapter out

I guess the redrawn is a lost cause for me now. They ruined (my feelings) the most important scene in the manga so far. It sucks, I just hope One keeps doing the webcomic.
-
I'm actually starting to like this route better. Right now I'm lowkey rooting for Garou due to Saitama acting like a cocky bully, which helps relate to his rather awkward / weak motivations as the main villain.
-
For the redrawn readers only, what is the difference between the Garou confrontation here and in the One version?
-
@TLC:
For the redrawn readers only, what is the difference between the Garou confrontation here and in the One version?
! It's been a few years and the finale of the arc wasn't very memorable for me in the first place, but Garou was portrayed A LOT less sympathetic in the webcomic. More of a edgelord X school shooter - type of character, with a pinch of tsundere towards the boy instead of this all-out tsundere mode on several fronts (Metal Bat bromance, the hostages etc.)
-
! Oh ok, I've read a lot of people complaining how the redrawn version ruined One's vision. Apparently it did so by…giving Garou more depth? okay lol
-
Giving Garou more depth this way actually took away the tension of the his battle with Saitama. Webcomic handled it better as well the the timing when the kid came to save Garou's sanity. I hope Murata has more cards in his sleeves.
-
It's not even giving Garou more depth. The original left it ambiguous for a long time whether Garou was a good guy or not. After he saved the boy and was dragged back to the monster association he started his monster transformation and did some actions that indicated he might be a monster after all. The redraw on the other hand makes it clear beyond reasonable doubt that he is a good guy and human underneath the monster shell. That's what you get when you write a character backwards, you keep spoiling future development until there is nothing left.
-
its hard to talk about garous character developement when you already saw a different version thats the right one in your mind. I had the same problem with a friend who didn't enjoy FMA brotherhood because he waatched fma 03 before that. and i'm not saying which one is better i'm just saying murata can't really compete with the one you read first

The problem is not that he's merely a different character, it's the way his progression is executed. His original development had ups and downs that make you speculate whether he'll end up good or bad in the end. The remake makes it clear that he is secretly a good guy very early by the way he interacts with Metal Bat / sister and the boy leaving him no more room to develop. It's clear that Murata took the image we have from Garou now and used it to retcon his past character development in the new incarnation. It's like with Darth Vader in Star Wars who was just some dude in a suit in Episode IV, then became a fan favourite and thus first became the emperors right hand and finally some kind of space Jesus in the prequels. And it's not only Garou, it's similar with Tatsumaki and Sweet Mask who were still arrogant jerkasses in the original at this point but already showed clear signs of humility in the remake through their interaction with Blast (who wasn't there in the original).
-
I really like this chapter for Saitama. He's usually unconcerned or out of touch. But in this case he's there to help a kid get his friend/hero back and acknowledging his own abilities to help due to his special skills instead of being frustrated by them. Really liking it.
From what I gathered the difference is in the webcomic Garou is actually ambiguous while in the redrawn Garou is clearly a good guy pretending to be bad. I wouldnt say making his alignment clearer is giving depth. Its just a different approach.
-
Garou in this version has completely been stripped off motivation or danger in favour of God. Garou reached the climax of his character arc without much external interactions to drive him to change or the same lows (psychologically) in this version
-
I always thought that webcomic Garou will be the number one for me, but somehow (as time passes and the chapters came out) I started to like Murata's version more.
Yes, a different approach, but somehow more understandable.I don't have any problem with Murata's design, it is more tune with Garou's own idea of a "cool monster".

I thought ONE was still behind the storyline, with Murata filling it in here and there. He's a manga artist, not a writer.

I don't know to what extend the changes are by Murata or by One, but the criticism remains.
-
I think the purpose of the redrawn version is more to appeal towards readers as it's own thing other than than just remake the webcomic with better artstyle, so the "I liked the webcomic better" type of criticism kinda fall into deaf ears in this case.
-

I think the full appearance of Blast and his hyperdimensional team fighting against God is proof enough of that
-
There's plenty of evidence that the largest changes made in the redrawn version are being prompted by things later on in the webcomic's story. Presumably because One wishes certain characters or story elements had been introduced earlier and the redrawn version is allowing that to happen.
-
The comparison to webcomic comes naturally because despite being different they are similar and tell the underlying same story. The comparisons only came in for this arc not only because there are more changes but because the changed version is (subjectively) worse. I think even without any webcomic, people would call out Super Saiyan Centipede and Evil Ocean Water. Or Metal Bat cameo. Or Orochi v5 now with extra psykos.

STOP STOP STOP
This has become exhausting
Please just stop it people.
If you like the original comic
Please just keep reading it.
Accept the redrawn version is different.
If you can't then please just stop reading it.
It's fucking pathetic how in every page of this thread. Someone has to whine about how different this is
Just STOP!!!!!!!!!!
-
The redrawn version is there to make money. It is the antithesis of the original. All glamour and no substance. That is why it is so disappointing.
I talked about the redrawn version, is that good for you?
