Honestly I think the discussion would be as much interesting without the spoiler thread. If anything everyone would discuss of the chapter at the same time. It is quite a shame that people like Captain M who are faithful to the official release get only the short stick of the discussion
I switched off spoilers when the official release started hitting the same day, and I'd hoped when it went free the forum would follow suit, but nope.
After about three years I got tied of always missing the conversation and went back to the spoilers. It is NOT my preference by any means but its where the discussion is all week.
Definitely avoiding this week though. Even deleted my twitter bookmark since that ruined me last week and I really wish I'd seen last chapter as it was meant to be.

As an example, look at how not a lot of people really discuss the full chapter.
You're mistaking causation and correlation.
Spoiler threads aren't longer because they're more interesting… People don't discuss the final thread as much because they'd already been discussing the partial chapter all week.
If there was no spoiler thread at all the regular chapter threads would be way bigger.
