Event on Nov 20th. Hopefully some announcement or something will be here?

I’d be surprised if there wasn’t.

No doubt it probably will be. Didn't the last livestream event that FUNimation hosted with RogersBase have voyage announcement? I am sure this one won't be any different. In fact since this is only a few weeks away on November 20th, and given their announcing pattern, I wouldn't be surprised if they announce Season 12, Voyage 1. So in a way, this is kind of to be expected.
Though personally for me, I would love an announcement that no one is expecting to come out from this, like maybe some of the older movies getting dubbed. But of course, probably won't happen… But a guy can dream.
-
Yeah, the “new season” announcement is more likely, but I’m also hoping for movies.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Movies are unlikely, though. They would have released a new movie in theaters instead of rereleasing SW.
-
The situation with straw hat chase is still weird. Cuz like, on one hand, you’d think they’d be making a bigger deal out of it. Half the posts abt it don’t even mention it. But at the same time, generally if you’re doing a double feature it’s safe to assume they’re both going to be in the same language, and you’d think they would specificy specifically if it’s NOT dubbed at that point.

Funny you should mention that as I was thinking the same thing. They advertised days for both dub and sub, and also said that the Mugiwara Chase feature was included in the screening (obviously both the sub and dub screenings as it didn't say that it was only going to be in sub screening), so it would be a bit weird to go to the dub screening and see the Mugiwara Chase feature play in sub before the dub movie plays
-
Man, realizing the SW theater situation has me so certain that they aren’t announcing the movies. And I sincerely doubt a simuldub is coming. So most likely I’ll be right that Funimation’s “1000 Celebration” is just a social media campaign with nothing of merit.
But won’t know for sure until November! Fingers crossed even so. At the least, I’m expecting a Zou release date.
-
I mean, I think the milestone within itself is worth celebrating. Like it’s about celebrating one pieces history, not it’s future. Saying it wont have any merit is kindve silly imo. Besides it’s not as if we have a shortage of one piece content as is.
-
When you think of it from this perspective it's a huge milestone. What other studios have solely dubbed this many episodes of an anime franchise in English, and at this speed?
Naruto (inc. Shippuden and Boruto) - roughly 850 (September 2005 to current)
One Piece - 746 episodes in 14 years (June 2007 to current)
Pokemon (not inc. 4Kids) - 696 episodes in (Sep 2006 to current -
So the dub is continuing right?! Haha!!
-
Well I mean I do think it will, but this isn't confirmation. We've already heard Kaido.

GUYS GUYS I GOT AHOLD OF A LEAKED WANO CLIP IDK HOW THIS EVEN EXISTS http://https://twitter.com/onepiecedubclip/status/1451734593657311235?s=21
-
So cool. Mike McFarland is amazing for the outreach he's done for One Piece casting. When a new major character is to be introduced, you never know who may show up in the role!
-
Ah, it's his birthday! (In whatever timezone he is at least I think). Wonder if thats coincidence or not.
-
David Sobolov is a great choice for Kaido. Takes some getting used to it, but as he goes more into his role as Kaido, the better it will sound.
-
Oh alright, I keep forgetting to mention this, but Karasu gets a line. Someone found out Matt Fowler put him on his resume, so there you go I guess http://https://resumes.actorsaccess.com/mattfowler. Tbh I just thought they didn’t know who it was and treated him like an extra. He just kinda sounded like… a dude. But this seems to confirm the castings gonna stick. Who knows though, I think he literally only says a word or 2.

Dub Karasu's one line:
-
So of course the new batch didn't drop today. It's always something with Funi.
-
Yeah, my wife and I are peeved.
-
Are all the episodes even up on Microsoft for purchase?

Are all the episodes even up on Microsoft for purchase?
Yes, that took 2 days to fix.
-
That is good to know, at least it is pretty safe to say that there shouldn't be any break's between arcs. For me it is always a worry when a major arc ends thinking there is going to be a break again. But since Toei is now funding the dub, it is probably safe to assume there won't be any break's anymore as I am sure FUNi probably wan't to catch up as close to the sub as they can.

inb4 3 years until zou

They could be recording and still take a few months break so they can get ahead in production again. Funimation likes to get ahead in production.
-
I don’t understand why you keep making that point when you were also the one saying funi were releasing the dressrosa voyages as soon as they finished them.
-
Because this is their opportunity to have a natural stopping point and take a break. The company likes to get ahead of their releases. It seems likely to me.
-
If that were such a concern they would make sure they were ahead enough where they would still be towards the end of dressrosa. Not to mention, it’s clear that things are very different now, and now 2 companies are heavily involved. I think its a tad silly to assume a general trend a few years ago is and will always be the norm, especially when we critique this company in particular for inconsistency. Like, before it came back we would’ve NEVER thought they would stop releasing on DVD first and instead… the microsoft store. We never would’ve guessed we would… not have people credited. We never would’ve guessed we’d get monthly releases.
It’s like you completely change you’re perspective of what’s likely or unlikely based upon wether it’s optimistic or pessimistic. Just seems like a weird thing to cling on to. I think calling it “likely” is a bit of a stretch based on the available information.
-
This is how speculation works. You speculate based on industry standards and practices you know have existed before. I didn’t say I was absolutely certain. I’m speculating. I’m saying, “probably this might happen.” And unfortunately, past practices are better “evidence” of future occurrences than “it might change.”
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It’s not really a productive use of anyone’s time to argue about what is more likely. Certainly I hope they don’t take a break and keep releasing them as soon as they finish them. I just know they got a head start on DR and we quickly caught up to their recording, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they took an extra month or two or three to get a little farther ahead so they can release the sets close together when it comes time.
-
Well, how about this. Dressrosa was previously 2 seasons. They changed this before they started dubbing it. Think, if being ahead was such a concern, why wouldn’t they keep it that way and take a break after season 11? It’s almost as if they’re goal is to get as much out as fast as possible with minimal breaks.
-
That’s wholly unrelated to their production and release schedule. Again, it’s not worth anyone’s time to argue speculation. We don’t know anything.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Just watched the Sabo episodes in the new set. Had a much better time with them than I thought. JYB’s performance was great! Was lovely to hear Iva, Inazuma, Dragon, and young Sabo again, too! I’m still not blown away by Dragon’s actor, but the rest were great.
-
So, when you use examples as to why you think a certain way, it’s understandable. But when I do speculation is bad? How exactly do you know that’s unrelated? I’m not saying there couldn’t be any other reason, but that’s a fairly logical one to assume.
-
Stop trying to pick a fight. You're welcome to speculate.
-
Okay look, I’m sorry if I was confrontational, your logic just seemed inconsistent to me to the point I wanted to ask about it. Then it just kinda frustrated me when you seemed to want to dismiss literally any point I had, when I dont see how they were any less valid than yours. That being said, yeah looking back at how I worded some of it yes I can see how you would respond that way. Though I still don’t agree with you. I don’t wish to argue either, have a good day.
-

read this again. You kept saying I was wrong in my speculation. My point against you was that at least my speculation, which you’re so certain I was wrong about, is backed by past Funimation practices. So it doesn’t make sense that you’d shoot down mine so easily and so readily believe anything without proof of past industry action.
Anyways, there’s yet another explanation for you. Let’s get back to OP now and stop wasting time.
watched the Kaido episode in full. I wonder if the Beast Pirates will all have southern accents like that Sheephead guy did. Certainly would be easy to cast in Flower Mound.
Also, Hawkins tells a story that implies Kaido’s demon race is from sky islands.

New interview.
-
What you are describing is exactly what you are doing. I never once said what you suggested was impossible. I was just saying there are other logical arguments that could be made, you’re the one shooting them down all matter of factly, right after you claimed you were merely speculating.
You may be right, you may be wrong. That’s not the point. I’m more than willing to listen and consider what you have to say. I just wish you did the same. That’s all I have to say. If you still wanna reiterate fine, you can have the last word.
Anyways, thanks for sharing that, I probably would not have seen it otherwise. Pretty short though, like one quote lol. Also, they got the dates backwards. I already got tickets for the 7th so I got a bit worried for a sec and double checked. Hard to blame though I guess. Subs are almost always first in limited anime releases like this.
-
You two have been like this for years especially during that drought between Fishman island and Punk Hazard, so just get married already lol
-
Dude needs to learn to not argue with every speculation he disagrees with posted on a forum.
-
I’d like to mention how good Fujitora’s farewell was, I started to tear up a little. So few people mention this wonderful moment.

I think Blake posted that clip and everyone praised it a ton. Haven't gotten that far in my rationing. Really loved the Zou/Kaido episode. Very excited for the new arc to begin.

But I’m only ON twitter to watch his clips, I can’t interact
-
Man, I miss getting trailers before the new releases. Was always nice to get a hint of what was coming—particularly when new arcs started up.
If they keep up the fast schedule, we could get WCI as soon as March. Whew. I don’t love the first half of that arc, but man do I love the second half. Can’t wait.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Third Zou set, we get the reverie prep and another long Kaido scene. Will be nice to hear Vivi and Shirahoshi again, among others. Hopefully there are no recasts.
I feel like no one ever mentioned him, but Momo’s actress doesn’t a great job. Definitely a great casting choice there.
-
Oh no definitely, she’s really fun in the role, and I’m really looking forward to her in zou and especially wano.
Also just really nice to see someone so well known from abridging work properly breaking into the industry. Not her first proper role but definitely her biggest one. That’s what I love about this dub, more smaller or obscure talent get chances to shine more often due to its large cast and longevity.
-
Curious as to who they'll have voicing Carrot and Wanda
-
I’m more curious about Dog and Cat. And I’m excited to hear more of Jack’s lines. Don’t care much about Carrot, but hopefully she’s not annoying. I feel like Mike does a pretty good job avoiding squealing voices in OP; I don’t get annoyed at the high pitch voices in this show.
-
Shirahoshi says hi.
-
I feel like either dog or cat are gonna be jeremy inman. He’s voiced like… 3 different characters but this is just like feels like such a textbook role for him lol
-

My original choice for voice of Carrot was Christine Marie Cabanos but she ended up voicing Rebecca in One Piece

Right now through Dressrosa Sugar's voice is the only one that is grating my nerves.
