@FelRes:
You can judge all you want, just know other people can judge you as well and know when to not let it get to you. You can keep repeating these metrics all you want, people already have their own to base their opinions on so it's not really productive. Especially when so many biases are presented, ie language, social issue factor, how someone interprets certain lines, reliability of person making their point. For example I can't take anything Arthur says seriously as I felt like he was inserting his own thoughts and interpretations into those vivre card summaries, and then there was that poor translation fiasco, meaning you kinda have to be careful who you listen to, especially when you don't fluently know Japanese.
I agree and understand that there are people who are unpleasant about having an I-Told-You-So mindset with Yamato's gender. There's a big I-Told-You-So problem with the fanbase in general I feel, though that's another topic altogether. I generally avoid this kind of Yamato discussion since people get caught up in their position and get hostile or judgmental over it, when it really shouldn't be like that as it's an interesting scenario and even I can't decide which I lean more toward sometimes. It's prolly best to consider an individual's intent when they say something you disagree with, and no longer engage with them if it turns out they have a petty attitude.
If someone misgenders Yamato after it's made 100% actually clear what terms to use, and everyone's had a chance to actually read that material, then iunno I don't care how you or anyone else reacts to that lol. They'd be a proper dick to keep it up at that point.
Well like I said, it's not just Arthur, but Greg and others, as well as the manga itself being pretty clear on this, and as Jaime pointed out, the livestream adhering to using he/him for Yamato as well. I was only pointing out Arthur as an example because I know he has people that listen to him when it comes to a bunch of stuff regarding One Piece, but conveniently Yamato's gender just so happens to be the one thing he receives consistent pushback on… because of course it is.
Anyways, we'll have to agree to disagree on when this "grace period" should end, but I'll accept your acknowledgment that someone would indeed be a proper dick if they continued to misgender him even after it's 100% irrefutable.
@HeartOfDarkness:
In the manga, Yamato has also stated, Luffy-like manner, wanting to be Oden, not a man.
It's also part of the same manga and same character that seems to get ignored. I wonder why…..
I mean it's clearly a separate thing from Yamato being a man though?
Luffy, Kaido, and Ulti have all disagreed with the idea of Yamato saying he's Oden:
!
!
!
But those same characters, which includes his own villainous father, have no issue with viewing Yamato as a man/Kaido's son
!
!
!
Yamato also first introduced himself as "Yamato, son of Kaido", and has generally shown that he doesn't have an issue referring to himself as Yamato:
!
!
Like yes, he felt he needed to become a man in order to become Oden, but the story itself is showing that it's not this interchangeable thing, where dismissing the Oden identity means you're also dismissing his gender identity. Luffy, Kaido, and the Beast Pirates have been consistent in respecting the latter. So I don't know what's being ignored here on our parts.
