Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

it was at 45:52, sounded good to me and like it could work for him. Never heard Kaido in Japanese though.
Thanks for that. It’s not bad. Something like that could work.
-
What were you saying about solicits coming on the 15th? Haha. I don’t think they care about the middle of the month anymore; that was more useful when retail was more booming. They just announce when they get around to it now.
-
No, this is an exception. Like I legitametely don't know what you're talking about. These posts were all made on the same day the solicits came out for the last 3 months
.Putting out all the solicits at the same general time each month isn't even a like advertising thing, they normally just silently go up and funi doesn't comment on it for like over a week, its just easier to do it that way. Granted I don't know what happened this month, but you seem to have gotten this idea from like… absolutely no where. The latest Ive ever seen solicits previously is the 18th.
-
Oh, that's just one piece. You made it seem like you were talking about solicits in general. Yeah I already said one pieces in particular have been odd, but we've still had solicits every month on around the 15th. And hell its not even like one pieces have had no rhyme or reason. Like you said they've either come out a month later on around the 15th for whatever reason, or shortly after announcements for the digital versions. And again, the last 2 voyages have come out at the same time as everything else so that issue appears to be resolved.
-
Season 11 Voyage 2 is now streaming on Funimation, folks. Enjoy! Can't wait for the next one. Fingers crossed they announce it soon, but really can't be too mad at a slightly slower delivery considering how much has come the past few months.
-
An announcement tomorrow is possible, seems like they like to make them the day after previous release dates when there's no excuse to announce them earlier. Also if it came out on the 2nd it would be like the same announcement to release period as voyage 1, though again they may not want to release it the same day as collection 24.

Thank you for the reminder! I'm off to watch!

I trusted you. Haha. Your prediction was right last time.
-
Yeah I was actually expecting it today, really just kinda felt right. At this point it's more or less garunteed to be a slightly longer gap than last time but still pretty confident it'll come in february, the only other thing OP related they have releasing that month is collection 24, which is now the 4th release of the first punk hazard episodes lol. Also most likely just an odd coincidence, but thus far the digital releases have never came out the same month as one of the DVD releases.
-
I wonder if scheduling for JYB for this next set was an issue. He’s a bigger voice actor, right?
-
Shouldn't really have been much of an issue. Matt Mercer is even bigger and has way more stuff to do. Besides I don't think they'd cast someone as such a major character if getting them in would be a regular challenge.
-
Think you all just need to be patient lol
-
How? I thought we were being pretty patient, more speculatory than anything. If you're talking about Zephray asking about JYB I doubt he meant that it delayed the release.
-
I'm curious to see how they handle some of the speech patterns in Wano. I always thought they could have done certain character's voice quirks in a cooler way but most of them they do a great job with.
-
This is how patience looks to impatient people, my dear Skippy.
-
The digital release of season 11, voyage 3 is January 26th.
-
It will also be coming Feb 16th for those who want to stream it on FUNimation. It appears to be 655-667 so 14 episodes.

No, it's the usual 13 episodes. Since 654 + 13= 667.

Ahhh, Shit… I can't count. lol.. My bad ^^
-
Wow was NOT expecting that! I originally read the streaming date ad the digital date and was already happy, and then I was shocked on re-read lol. Wonder why they only announced it 4 days before hand, not that Im complaining. Looks like we're finally gonna be under 300 episodes behind!
-
Woo! We’ll also get the second version of “Wake Up” this set.
-
Oh yeah forgot it had a 2nd version. Neat.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
In the article it only says its comung to Microsoft, so PlayStation might see a delayed release again unfortunately.
-
Baby Five gets a voice this set, too!
-
Baby Five gets a voice this set, too!
Uh… excuse me? She got one about 3 months ago lol. Did you mean senior pink, cuz like the baby aesthetic?
-
Sorry. I meant, uh, Senior Pink, who looks like he would be named Baby Five in any other series.
-
Fair enough I can imagine him and the 4 other babies being in like a super hero squad or something.
-
We are getting closer to the reveal of Pica's voice i cant wait and how many voyages will this Season have???

Anybody see this yet? Someone took one of the english Wake Up fandubs, and edited in the Funimation Luffy and Blackbeard audio. Really gave me a warm fuzzy feeling like "in an alternate perfect universe this is what would greet us if the Dressrosa dub premiered on Toonami."
-
Hopefully the are aiming to eventually simulcast the show. Toei needs to keep the dub product front and center and a simudubs will help that.

Cool novelty but just more or less reposting a fan dub without permission or even credit doesn't sit right with me. Speaking of english openings I really wish they could get the rightd to the official one of hard knock days, though I know it won't happen.
-
Is that really an issue? Someone puts something on Youtube publicly for all the world to see and someone else shares it. Seems like the video is doing what it's intended to do. Electivire didn't claim it as his/her own nor did they edit the content in any way.
-
The video uploader did credit the singers in the description, but yeah the title of the video is misleading though.
-
Tricky situation since the fandubber gets ad revenue, so the reposter is making money off the original fandubber’s work.

Sorry but that is a terrible argument. Putting up things for free is in no way an invitation to repost, unless its like a meme. Exposure to ones own accounts is crucial for growth and further opportunities in the future. And like Zephray already mentioned, youtube in particular has ad revenue, so this could include actively stealing money.
-
So clarify for me. The video that was shared by Electivire isn’t the original singers own video? As in that video took someone else's creation and just re-uploaded it? If that’s the case then of course it’s no good.
-
What? First of all I keep rereading your first post to see the coorelation but it seems you entirely changed your point from "Its okay to repost others work!" to "technically it is not exactly the same!" which are very different points. Or are you trying to say that the origina cover artist used the animes visuals, which for the record, they didn't. If its the former though its such an incredibly minor edit. The whole fan dub is used with two character lines added.

Ok I’m not even sure we are talking about the same things. Electivire shares a YouTube video of fan dub. I haven’t watched it, I assumed it’s a cover for a song. I then see your post saying it’s no good to share it. I say why not? Wouldn’t the creator want their video passed around? Then I read the other responses and now this one and I’m comprehending something I may have missed.
Is the video that is linked a work that was stripped from another persons YouTube account and re-uploaded entirely under another unrelated account? Or is the video just simply shared? If Electivre found someone’s original content on YouTube and shared their link with us I don’t see the problem.
Edit: Ok so I’m actually reading Electivires post. Someone took a fan dub from someone else and added it to an existing dub. Yeah unless it was ok’d ball all involved I see the problem.
I thought you got on his/her case for just simply sharing a video.
-
I really didn't think too deeply about it when sharing, like if there was money involved, etc. I just saw the vid, got excited for a sec and shared. Didn't intend to cause a whole thing from it and should've thought about it before posting.

Oh okay that makes sense, really big misunderstanding. Sorry.

No you're fine. Again it's a cool novelty, and really like its not even like the uploader id thr scum of the earth or anything, their edit hasn't even been viewed much. Just wanted to say I didn't really like how its largely reuploaded work, which again caused a slew of misunderstandings.
-

No worries.

It’s all good.
Now the reason why I stepped into this part of the forum in the first place. My family is just about to finish Season 10 Voyage 2. Is there a Voyage 3 and 4 available? And is Rightstuf still the place to go for quick releases? I’m playing catch up.
-
Yes, punk hazard has been finished and you can buy it all on DVD as we speak. Shipping seems to largely be delayed everywhere (amazon has my collection 24 preorder estimated a month after release, seriously.) but righstuf isn't a bad bet if you're a physical collector. Dressrosa onwards will actually be on blu ray as well in combo packs at the same price, so we've been excited about that. If you're interested in streaming starting with season 10 they actually stream much earlier. Season 11 Voyage 2 just started streaming, with voyage 3 coming in February. To add ANOTHER layer of confusion they come out on the Microsoft store even EARLIER, voyage 3 comes out on Tuesday on there.

over 1 year of no dubbed episodes.
yet now One piece dubs have been on a rollout in these last couple of months
Sony buying up funimation might be one of the best things ever. it seems to have episodes at a higher rate than it was in the past by quite a margin
Flaws are a shame but it's imo very unnoticable the quality is still pretty solid I'd say. I wouldn't consider it a downgrade from what i've seen.
so strange how there where no dubbed episodes for over 1 year for such a big series. well at least sony is going to fatten the pot a bit and give us more dubs. seems to definitely pay off atm
is this speedup temporarily thanks to the 1+ year hiatus for the lost time or is it thanks to sony. I think the latter.
@Blake:
Fair enough, I like elements of the roman collosuem idea for sure but it drags a fair bit. I think the arc would be much better if the collosuem and its fighters had much less of a focus, you could cut like half of them and not much would change really.
I love it's focus so much that I actually was annoyed when we went back to some of less exciting story parts. I'd say the opposite double the colloseum fights and action scenes definitely the high light for me during that arc the other stuff that happened at the same time was for the most part less exciting by quite a long shot for my taste.

LOL Episode 645 features what I'm pretty sure is the first-ever use of the term "dick-head" in One Piece. XD
-
It was closer to 2 years actually May 15th 2018 to April 28th 2020

Now if they could only say "shit" we'd be getting somewhere haha
-
Now if they could only say "shit" we'd be getting somewhere haha
They have said that a couple times during the dub. Buggy said it once during Lougetown, and Sanji said it in Little Garden when he was talking to himself, when he was on the den den mushi with Crocodile.
-
They're not supposed to say it, they had to bleep it during a commentary.
