There's really no way to prevent claims, but the idea of getting a new host has been brought up as a way to potentially decrease the amount of downtime.

I also see some merit in changing hosts.
The current one seems to be a handfull to handle, at least on these dmca notices, so I can't imagine it being fun for the admins.
And the forum being down is not fun for the rest us :p Dear god, the dread of this forum being down when chapter 1000 hits is very real. Where will people go and foam from their mouths?In any case, thanks and props to the admins who keep working on the forum.

Don't think there are any still standing. There ARE One Piece related threads on older, broader anime forums (Anime Suki, Anime Boards, etc) and there are older no longer existing Arlong Park threads. I'm not sure there's an older One Piece specific forum though. In any case, there's really not much like Arlong Park left existing, much less in 2020. It might be a lot of work, but I think this forum would be worth backing-up/archiving in some manner.

That was a pretty short downtime compared to the last few. Only 3 days while the others have been over a week or a couple weeks. I also noticed the offline message was different this time, it was the gateway timeout that we get sometimes when spoilers come out and there's a lot of people coming here for them. Does that mean the cause of the downtime wasn't a copyright claim on an image this time since the message was different?

Brennen will probably make a formal announcement once it's decided where and when. It won't be until sometime after the new year begins. In the meantime, we'll work to set up somewhere we can meet in case the forum goes down again, and that will be soon.

The official word will have to come from bren, but I understand we've been getting rather inundated with nonsensical bot-generated DMCA requests; too many to manually review in the short windows provided to take the content down. In many cases the claims are extremely vague and there isn't even any content to take down. Our host does not vet these requests whatsoever for legitimacy. We are still discussing the best way to move forward.

The mods on discord always have the same theory when the site gets a DMCA: an embeded picture did it. I know it's a hard workaround for this site, but maybe disabling embedment would help make sure this doesn't happen again, at least until someone figures out a better solution to keep the site safe.

ZTYes, we're planning to drastically reduce the bus factor by giving more admins better access to the server which will allow us to fix these issues faster and cut down on downtime in the future.
There's also talk of upgrading the forum but nothing concrete yet.I'm sorry again for the downtime, it came on suddenly and I still haven't heard back from Bren about why it happened.

Getting way too frequent.
Yeah it's getting beyond frustrating now. These downtimes are happening basically once every month and last about a week. I don't think I've ever been on a forum that's down 25% of the time.
