Right now, I'm expecting the whole OFA world confrontation to have been the result of Tomura hypnotizing himself with nanomachines to make himself think AFO was with him all along.

Nah, this is our version of force ghosts. AFO was aware when his little bro had his OFA world talk with Deku.

Because Metal Gear doesn't have force ghosts as well?
When do I get the scene where All Might at death's door crosses a river in the netherworld while the ghosts of his victims chase after him? All while the ghost of Sirnighteye haunts him with one-second flashes of war imagery?
-
Never player Metal Gear can't tell.

I just realized I've been calling Horikoshi 'Horikawa' and now I want to crawl into a hole and not come out.
-
One Piece and toppling countries: it always (except drum) falls back to their original rightful and god given ruler, or Iceburg, who is a mayor in a world of Monarchs, somehow. Even the world government is implied to be usurpers, the revolutionaries of the blank century becoming fat and complacent on their new throne.

Gosh, I wish. I'm on my PC. I must be really used to typing 'Horikawa Ryou'…
-
I thought it was a nickname, like wolfwood calling one piece characters by their horrible subs name, or the guy here that rather use a dated and bad 2000s show character name for All for One, the person.
-

East Blue has at least 2 Mayors.
-
4 actually.
Woop Slap, Genzo, Boodle and that old man who's always expecting Usopp's morning yells.
-
Continuing one piece politics, I wouldn’t be surprised if each blue was one or two kingdoms each, by the nature of their climate and waters, like if all we saw in east blue was actually Goa, but by the nature of the grand line, where islands have to be isolated and self sufficient, that water 7 is the one republic/city state, rather than being one city out of a kingdom or greater nation, has always struck me as odd.
Someone a long time ago made the point of being like shabody directly under the WG, but the lack of marine base, and the sea train connecting to the other 3 civilian islands felt more important than the fact that is directly connected to the judicial branch of the WG. But now, yeah, is right next to einess loby, I can believe it being directly under the WG.

! A rather convoluted way of having Toga vs Ochaco. And Jeanist is alive, guess some hero has a body cloning quirk too.
-
I really like how close the league members are, well, except for Dabi. Spinner little speech was really nice, how his bandages got on his face made me laugh a lot. Now that Twice, he may be my favorite league members aside from Tomura, I really like how he is clearly unqualified for his actual position that only got because of seniority on the league, it makes me want to root for the guy.
On the other hand, it was nice seeing the girls and the other heroes saving people, though it seemed to me like they were blaming themselves a little too much. I am curious about how the thing with toga will go, since Toga´s fighting skills are pretty good.
-
Important to remember that Toga's logic is not normal human logic.
-
It pisses me off that those league members thinks Toga is messed up because they live in a Hero Society, but instead she would be a messed up girl even in a regular society.
-
This arc really needs to end soon.
The structure has been all over the place
This fight happening now and here doesnt even make much sense not just in terms of when it happens but also the location and it felt unplanned.
But hey at least Froppy gets her one moment and thats over part of the arc. -
Let's see Toga got ahead of a behemoth that digging through a city at 100km/h, find a place to set a trap and them went after Ochaco. So did she learn to teletransport or she is the fastest human alive.
-
Glad that Best Jeanist is back. Or, at least I'm 99% sure that was him from what we saw and how he talked. Also, from what I saw in the helicopter it looks like he's gonna try to…
(minor My Hero Vigilantes spoiler)! Use the carbon fiber cables to restrain Gigantomachia similar to how he once used them to try to keep the Sky Egg building from falling.
I do like Spinner and even Mr. Compress stepping up as characters. Spinner will definitely become the heart of the League now that Twice is dead.

But hey at least Froppy gets her one moment and thats over part of the arc.I agree, but it looks like Horikoshi is trying to move all the important characters where they need to be going forward after the arc. Not the cleanest way if that's true but I'm sure it'll be worth it down the road.
-
I'm all for Ochako getting some development outside of Deku…Buuuut. I really wish this was happening some other time. This arc really is going on a bit too long. We've already had several important confrontations.
-
The structure of the fight is being dragged out, for sure. I feel like the chapter could have easily cut material. We don't NEED to see how Toga and Ochako meet, just cut to them having met and use those pages for discussion.
-
I'm of the opposite opinion.
The creepy stalk and the strike is Toga's MO.
It was also nice to see Spinner giving her his thoughts. This was perfectly in line with what I've come to expect, and it was a neat build up.
Any quicker and I'd have gotten whiplash. MUCH better than them meeting up for no reason.
That's the kind of thing that usually makes fans complain due to contrivance.
At least SEEING Toga spot her prey and make her move is a LOT better than suddenly being right next to her out of nowhere.
(Like Deku & Mirio just happening to bump into Chisaki & Eri in the street)As it was, it felt just right.
It's not like the manga ends next chapter. Where's the rush?
Nothing wrong (in my opinion) with the way this chapter played out to get their confrontation going,
in fact it sets it up perfectly for things to already be underway when we next see them.Everything in this chapter was also here for a reason, especially on a character level.
Ochako wants to save people, and thus was determined to save disguised Toga's fake husband.
Toga's deception of Ochako has enraged her because she's TRYING to save lives right now, and the longer she's distracted, the more lives are being lost.
That's why she's brushing off Toga and telling her to GTFO and let her do her job, or she'll stop her.
This all felt really fitting and good.I just don't get how, what felt like a natural build up and HERE WE GO moment to me, could feel dragged to someone else.
But whatever, I don't need to get it. I'm enjoying it, and that's all that matters I guess. -
I don't see as much as dragged as more as I'm dying to get to the next arc and all it's delicious consequences set up from this arc. I'm guessing another reason this arc feels dragged (even thought it's really good) is all the breaks that's taken place since it started.

I know we aree supposee to feel charmed by their villain comradery, but i'm all out of fucks to give about their comradery since they just decimated an entire town full of innocent people
-

I feel the same. I think the lack of a solid endgoal makes their motivations almost insufferable.
For instance, one of the best, the Phantom troupe only massacre as revenge or when there's a purpose.
Zabuza and Haku had a real sympathetic reason for being the bad guys and Akatsuki had psychos but the top brass inherently believe their kills is an ends justify the means kind of thing.
There's some rules to psychos that I find it increasingly hard to see it the LoV… they just...kill? Maybe it'll get fleshed out next arc or something.I feel like their goal is akin to what Joker is to Batman but in this case LoA to what All might built.
I don't think anyone is supposed to find a group of jokers sympathetic. You know, it's really difficult to try to obtain sympathy for a bunch of terrorists.
I can't think of any villainous groups that are terrorists for the pure sake of destruction in this genre that I could ever sympathize or empathize with.
There's the Joker movie but I don't think that's a right comparison in this case or ever because we are also talking about comradery (and a very different set of circumstances).I feel like instead of using the "good guy tropes" to show comradery, pushing the villainous and the insane side of them further would have been better.
-
At this point it seems the league´s goal is help Shiggy destroy society and remake it as they see fit, more or less. As for the particular reasons:
-Spinner went from admiring Stain to admiring Tomura, mostly because he is drawn to the determination more than the ideals themselves, considering that he described himself as empty.
-Toga wants to be free to love in her weird way.
-Dabi wants to take Stain´s ideals to a new level (real heroes don´t exist), motivated most likely by his relationship to Endeavor and the fact that he knows about Hawks real name suggests that he may be related to the child soldier program too.
-Twice simply wanted to feel accepted and useful.
-Mr Compress is a blank space, so I don´t know what he wants (maybe they expelled him from the magician´s union for cheating with his quirk)I personally like the league relationship because so many villains usually only care about themselves or will kill their subordinates if they fail, the league not being like that is fresh to me. They accept each other, but at the same time they reinforce both their best and worst traits. It is also a way to compare AFO and Tomura, the first had believers that saw him as a messiah, the second has comrades that fight by his side.
In that way, they remind me of the Don Quixote´s family in One Piece, with Doflamingo being a monster to others, but forgiving with his crewmates.
-
In that way, they remind me of the Don Quixote´s family in One Piece, with Doflamingo being a monster to others, but forgiving with his crewmates.
Considering that the Donquixote family and their established togetherness was one of my absolute favourite aspects of Dressrosa, I think you nailed the LoV appeal for me.
Every single time I see the league members have genuine moments with each other without any manipulation, just honest-to-goodness "found family" dynamics…
I can't help but feel charmed, regardless of what they're doing wrong. -
I always thought Doflamingo's family relationship was that of manipulation and a false kind of loyalty.
I mean, it fits with his puppet theme too.
I thought that was quite apparent in the snippets with Baby G and Monet's death.
Also I won't call them comrades as much as them, Trebol especially, spoiling the shit out of him.
But I get that the point is LoA does it better and is more of an authentic relationship. -
The thing about the Doflamingo family is that it is both manipulative and genuine, Doffy really went balistic when Monett died, and forgave things that any other One Piece villain would have made juliene his
minionsfamily off, and he seemed hurt about Violett. But then again we know he's manipulating and indoctrinating the kids, and how he's keeping Baby 5 on a short leash (But then again, she was easily manipulated by a bunch of people could be interpreted as a brother protection, but then again AGAIN helping her overcome that trait should come before keeping her "safe" by murderous means). My interpretation is that he built a fake family, he believed, and with Trebol and the elder family enforcing it, and the younger family being indoctrinated to it, it just stuck, but it is a kind of self serving, coddling love that led them to become complacent.
While the League just is Shiggy and Dabi having their own agendas, and Toga, Twice, Magne and Spinner humanizing them believing that they are the same kind of rejected from society, and creating friendships (not family yet) between eachother.
Compress scares me tho.
-
Compress scares me tho.
Hm, interesting. I mean, yeah, there has to be a very good reason why Horikoshi hasn't even touched on Mr. Compress. Whoever he is and why he's doing what he's doing could be a potential game changer. Look at Dabi, I'm totally convinced he's got some huge plans in the works no one but him knows about.
-
I like twice making a family in the league because he had nowhere else and being so broken that he has caused them harm. It feels personal. In the same way when Toga is just killing a bunch of heroes out of revenge that's fine. Where it loses me it's when those terrorists are wondering why society are such dicks to them like wondering why was the ticking time bomb Twice was killed by heroes supposed to protect people and it seems also attacking Ochako because if she she kills her trying to defend herself that will prove heroes are hypocrites somehow. And the problem is a lot of the leagues are really into their politics and being the real victims.
I like the Doffly family has Dofly's makeshift family after he felt betrayed by his real one and also I like the idea that the 4 suits encouraged Doffly purposefully sense of superiority while they themselves found purpose in Doffly greatness. A very unhealthy symbiotic reaction which he then extended to others like him. And I took his disdain of Bellamy to be because while him and all the other members had to be pirate because they lost so much or had nothing else Bellamy just gave on everything to come play pirate. He was basically a mockery of their struggle.
-
The Legion of Doom didn't deserve Twice.
They totally deserve Dabi though.
-
LOV feels like an instance of the author wanting to have his cake and eat it. It's like if Blackbeards crew constantly kept talking about social justice and how they are being kept down by pirate society rather than owning up to the fact that the only thing they actually want is to rule over the seas. I feel like the narrative keeps trying to paint this grey morality of the villains actually just wanting change and justice but every time you see them, all they really want to do is kill people and destroy buildings
-
That's why it comes across so heavily that Horikoshi views the State and heroes as being in-the-right, while trying to muddy the waters by just claiming the 'villains' to be sore losers. It's honestly just really insulting because it's telling those with health issues or those who are marginalized for their gender, sexuality or other immutable attributes that they deserve what they're getting and it's wrong to try to fight back because the system is ultimately always right.
-
I just took it as, Toga is fuvking nuts. She's technically got a point. But she's also dead wrong in regards to the more murder happy members lol. She's not willing to try and curb her tendencies which put people in harm's way so she's unable to see why the rest of society would have a problem with her lol.
I still felt Hawks could have tranqed Twice at any point since he fully trusted him.
-
That's why Gentle is a better character than Shiragaki and would work better as a sympathetic main antagonist that can be redeemed.
I think Toga is supposed to represent a natural born psychopath that deprives only joy from killing, which is like what, 0.01 percent of the population? except it's a real wreck because the narrative wants to find a middle ground but that's not even possible in our world. Maybe the author has a social thinking that is light years ahead, that can come up with a solution where walking psychopaths can be accepted by society.
It's also annoying because Toga is like on the far deep end of the spectrum, I'm not even sure that's mental illness as much as an inborn genetic trait like the many fictional characters we've seen in other series. -
That's why Gentle is a better character than Shiragaki and would work better as a sympathetic main antagonist that can be redeemed.
everything bad that happend to gentle was his fault though, he's a complete loser.
-
That's exactly what makes him sympathetic.
Losers generate pity quite naturally.
And pity often goes hand in hand with rooting for the person to turn things around.So….. him being a loser doesn't make him unsympathetic.
-

not when being a loser is entirely 100% his fault.
shigaraki is more sympathetic than him and he's a mass murderer. -
Gentle is barely a villain. He's pretty much a failure at heroics and villainy.
-
Regarding Toga, I always thought that her flashback showed us that both his family and the quirk counceling failed her, since they tried to deal with her natural attraction to blood with a "just act like the others and bottle up that need" She was not born a monster, but became one because of lousy parenting and inadequate mental care.
And talking about Gentle, the guy really touched me back then. He is the kind of character that evokes what you feel when you see how your old acquaintances have achieved their goals and are doing better than you. At least, that´s why I connected with him.
I always thought Doflamingo's family relationship was that of manipulation and a false kind of loyalty.

But I get that the point is LoA does it better and is more of an authentic relationship. For me it felt genuine, I mean, no one was there with Vergo in his last moments and Doffy still gave him his respect. The family may have its issues, but I think Doflamingo feelings were sincere.
-
Considering how fast Giganto is moving, isnt Toga stuck there now?
-

I think it all comes down to Horikoshi simply not being good enough of an author to tackle such a big subject properly. It does not ruin the story but he would have been better served doing a classic good vs evil struggle.
-
Yeah, sometimes you can be sympathetic and relatable and still be wrong. Toga is super wrong here, and this whole thing is going to end badly. Yes, you kill people who stop other people from saving people, or kill people who kill other people. You ideally don't want to, but not everyone is All Might so drastic measure might be needed.
Although, considering Ochaco wants to be like Deku who wants to be like All Might, this answer might get more complicated. I'm interested to see where she goes with that, even if this scene feels like it's interrupting everything else is going. I mean, Deku and Shiggy have basically already torn each other apart by now, so it feels weird to add new conflicts, but okay I guess we're here now.
-
everything bad that happend to gentle was his fault though, he's a complete loser.
I was going for the "he made a mistake once out of good intentions but the world punished him so he sprialled" approach so he could represent that the society needed fixing.
But hey, I get where you are coming from that a portion of it is likely due to him being weaker than average (in terms of stats).
However, that is why it is more interesting to me if he could represent the people who want to be heroes but can't be because of how the society judge certain criteria.
He's pretty much an anti-thesis to Deku.
If Deku was bullied by the society because of a mistake out of goodwill, who knows what he will turn out to be either.I don't think he's completely a loser, he does bad things but never to the extent that it will harm lives or result in deaths like the LoA.
His character is rather understated but labelling him a failure because he never goes to succeed at either is a simplification.I don't have much to base on because of the lack of content but I always thought he was a character that constantly struggle between doing the right thing and going full villainy.
That control is much more respectable in my eyes than spiraling into evil or a life of nothingness.
It's like he wants to make something good out of his life but will never cross that border into villainy. He's a much better lens to work with to look at the inequity of the Hero Society that AM created rather than Shiragaki but all this is just some of my bias speaking too.
It is disappointing when the narrative brushes his character and problem off with Deku handing him over the authorities and moving on, even after somewhat understanding his circumstances. That's kind of where I know where the plot of Hero is likely to go but it's a guess anyway.

! Dabi's livestream starts in 5. Iida is on the scene, Bakugo and Neijire better watch their hands.

We're hitting the end of the arc (for real this time). Now, this would be the perfect time for Best Jeanist, Wash, and the Pussycats (Hori probably put them on hold just so they can appear here) to show up. Wow, after all the jokes I can't believe there's actually a chance Wash is showing up to fight the League.
-
Bad new Nectar but I think washed was dusted helping civilians escape in floating bubbles during Shigi's first blast.
Jeanist will appear but I will already call bullshit if his cables are capable of hold the behemoth that swan through cities at 100km/h. -
MHA:V question. Did KD get Overclock back and if so did I miss something ??
-
MHA:V question. Did KD get Overclock back and if so did I miss something ??
We having a flashback, Vigilantes is set 5-6 years prior to the main series, by the arc with evil Pop we were 2-3 years before.
Miruko is 27 in MHA, but is a high school in this, so we are back 10 years, probably before KD lost his quirk.
