@Cyan:
Fuck yeah SMT Nocturne.
And 5 which somehow is getting a simultaneous release and which we still don’t have gameplay footage of :ninja:
-
Take persona 5, turn everything stylish into gothic-alien-lovecraftian; and everything trendy into post apocalyptic. I hope. After going for digimon cyber sleuth, you appreciate the polish of persona, and the surprisingly good control accessibility of Pokémon. I can move and select with one joycon, why would I use both if I could have all the actions in one???
-
Excellent, I'm quite psyched that I'll finally be able to take a crack at Nocturne. I hope this opens the door to remasters of the Digital Devil Saga duology as well.
That trailer for V definitely makes it look Nocturne-inspired as well though that scene of that demon enlisting the Hero gives me Dagda vibes…I sure hope he's better executed than Dagda was. Ultimately though, I'm just glad that the concern trolling around V can finally be put to an end.
-
Bring the Persona 2 duology to the Switch, I need more terrible early 2000s JRPGs.
-

Take it you didn't like that weird slightly paradoxical ass pull that came up with to resolve the conflict with Dagda?

It could be Odin considering how he was highlighted in the first trailer.
Granted, it was 2016 and maybe they didn't wanted to show too much.

That and he just came off as a raging misanthrope ranting on and on about how woke he was. The game actually did give him an interesting motive late in the story concerning wanting to return to being a pure force of nature but it's only lightly touched upon and after sixty hours of him going on and on about how interpersonal relationships and basic human decency were toxic and limiting I just wanted to tell him to start his own subreddit.
Apocalypse had a lot of interesting ideas and deconstructions that needed to be backed up by stronger writing.

I'll say I mean it didn't make me hate the entire game or it's cast like a certain game that won't be mentioned but it definitely was wonky in a number of areas.
-
I've never woke up this happy in a long time.
Finally the game I bought my switch for is coming. -
Odds are high that you won't just find one stocked as you're casually walking into a shop anytime soon. These are still commodities being sold both used and new by scalpers for exorbitant markups.
You could get one surprisingly quickly online if you give it a shot and turn your alerts/notifications on though. I got one within a couple hours of my first day "searching" for one online through Zoolert last month, and that was literally just me switching over to the Zoolert tab as soon as I heard the alarm and hitting the Buy Now button on Amazon. That's mainly because these shops are constantly getting new stock from Nintendo, like, multiple times a day listings go up even on the same site. Same with getting Ring Fit, though that time Wario64 beat Zoolert to the punch with his notification.
I just realized I missed this post completely! I'm so sorry! Thank you for the information, I really appreciate that!
I try to use the methods you used to help seal the deal for one at a retail price, thank you so much again! :3

So, there was a massive, massive leak of various ROMs and source codes and CVS from the NES, SNES, and N64.
But the most important stuff is this. Uncompressed Star Fox 64 voice clips.

Oh, bless their little leaker hearts. Bless 'em… :’)
-
I played the game so many times that I never knew the sound was compressed.
That and there wasn’t anything to compare it to like Mortal Kombat Trilogy which has a tin like sound when it came to the music.

L is real 2401!

I'll admit, my resolve not to dive into the Mario LEGO sets is weakening by the day…

How many notable Wii U games are left that haven't been saved from the Wii U? Can't be more than a small handful, right?
-
Super Mario 3D World and Kirby Rainbow Curse are the two big ones left (not including the ones that got sequels like Splatoon, Xenoblade X and Color Splash or are remakes themselves like Wind Waker).
-
Xenoblade Chronicles X really should get the Switch treatment as well. It is in ways very different to 1 and 2 and plays in its own universe. While I never finished it because of it's length it's hella fun and the Shawano soundtrack fucking slaps (shame none of the songs are in Smash).

A port would be awesome, a remaster with at least QoL improvements would be incredible, or just give me a sequel lol. We'll get that music in Smash as soon as they add Elma. :ninja:
I'm actually just finishing XC: Definitive. Pretty much all I have left to do is finish grinding out gems and arts and beating the superbosses. It's the first time I play it, despite having played both X and 2. I might make a longer post when I'm truly done but I'd probably rate the games XCX >>>>> XC2 > XC1. I don't know if it's my lack of nostalgia but while I see the XC1 as an incredible and revolutionary start, it was refined in almost every way by its successors. The areas are kinda empty and boring after the initial awe at their creativity, and the combat is fine but for the most part doesn't have the same satisfaction as building out powerful builds in the others. The soundtrack is really nice but it only has a couple truly standout tracks and is overall outclassed by the other two games' spectacular compositions.
All of the games have their strengths and flaws though. XC1 has the best main story and the best protagonist (unless you count Elma as the protagonist because she's fantastic). I don't think it has the best plot but it definitely has the best storytelling and narrative beats. XCX has the best exploration, best world/worldbuilding, and best actual writing, if only it didn't end on 500 giant open questions and cliffhangers. XC2 I think has the best overall cast and possibly the best combat just from the sheer variety with Blades and adding the elemental chains to make it more than just "spam chain attacks and topple arts" or "spam infinite overdrive with a broken art like Ghostwalker."
I think the other thing that puts XC1 below the others for me is I realized there's no real sense of danger. I can accidentally aggro a unique monster 30 levels above me and just shrug it off because it's so easy to keep running and avoid attacks until they lose aggro. If you want to explore somewhere you shouldn't be in the other games, you have to work for that shit, and if you get ambushed unexpectedly you're just dead.
Anyway yes XCX needs more love.
-
I'd like to see all the 3D Zelda remakes get Switch ports.
One big collection probably won't happen, but imagine an OoT3D+MM3D collection and a WWHD+TPHD collection.
Yes please. Very very yes please.
-
Straight ports of the original OoT and MM would be better than the 3DS de-masters, which have no business making it onto a console. With MM in particular they have no goddamn clue what made the game good to begin with. WWHD would be awesome for people who missed out on the Wii U but I'm not sure TP really needs to keep coming back after being on 3 console generations in a row.
-

But I actually really want Rex and more XC2 music to get in as well. :'(
-
Ideally they add all the good songs from both XCX and XC2 that should've been there from the start, regardless of which game gets a character (assuming one of them does). Rex is basically my last choice though, and probably the weakest main-cast character from any Xenoblade game IMO. My top pick from XC2 would be Tora with the different Poppi forms. After that I'd take Mòrag + Brighid, and after that a tie between derpy-ass Zeke and Nia. But at least between those, Nia doesn't use a sword XD.

Completitude?

If you add Vandham to smash he can be a rep for all Xenoblade games :ninja:
I'm honestly on the boat where the Switch is almost entering its 4th year so seeing ports constantly is extremely underwhelming. Particularly since they don't just port the game to make it future-proof and more accessible, and instead they add weak extra content to justify full price. I would also argue that what made Pikmin 3 such an excellent experience for me was its use of the gamepad.
I don't know how I would feel about seeing Ocarina of Time again, considering that's been available for every console since the N64 AND the 3DS. It's a title that merits existing in NSO or something like that for free, not something anyone should ever pay full price for ever again. In fact, I would say that the only Zelda game that could reasonably merit a re-make would be skyward sword since that one hasn't been done to death and the control scheme works very well with the Switch. Wind Waker achieved perfection in the Wii U and Twilight Princess has aged terribly would require an entire remake to look good at this point.
Honestly, no one should pay full price for any of these games at this point unless it's a collection with multiple of them.Which is where I'm interested to see how they approach the rumored Mario collections, or the also rumored Metroid Prime Trilogy. These have their degree of potential, even if I squirm from the idea that the most exciting thing Nintendo has to offer for the entirety of 2020 is games that came out years ago.
Oh also, outside of Wii U ports, the one I want to see ported is Kid Icarus Uprising. Talk about a game with exciting potential that failed to reach it because of the horrible control scheme, which I myself never minded but that nevertheless turned so many people off. It would be an excellent addition to the Switch. -
Their (year Of the virus) approach to announcements and released, with only two data points of paper Mario and now pikmin, seem to be even lower number of solid dates than the previous year. They must be keeping something for December, but I’d think they reveal it next month, when they are sure to be able to deliver it, and probably it was the original October game.
-
My theory is that they were running late on several of their first party games and were sweating bullets trying to figure out what to do for 2020.
Then the covid thing happened and with it Animal Crossing made a bajillion money, E3 got cancelled and Switches became a commodity. So suddenly there's no real need to have massive reveals or constant releases. Just push animal crossing again for the holiday season, promote as many third party games as you can, and 2020 is already a success for them.
-
I'd have to agree with you, we had very little anouncements since last year as well.
-
Finally finished Xenoblade Chronicles and the Future Connected DLC. Loved every last minute of it. Looking forward to playing it again when it's re-released.
-
I hope this is the second and final time that I get it. And I only double dipped because I Yarrrrr’d it the first time.
-
I have finished every quest I could find, beaten every superboss, and finished getting the best gear + making copies of all the useful gems. I still have a few skills to earn and I'm grinding out art manuals and AP until I get bored. I might do the few missing collectapaedia entries, not sure. I have no urge to do NG+ or to find the ~20 unique monsters I'm missing (based on having 220-ish affinity coins), or to ever come back to this game really… glad I played it, and glad it's not as grindy as the other games (I'm at under 100 hours vs. over 200 for both X and 2). But it's still just not that compelling gameplay-wise compared to the others.

Does Yoshi's Woolly World count? I know it's also on the 3DS so maybe that excludes it from the running since technically it's not a Wii U exclusive.
Nintendoland, even though that was supposed to be only playable with gamepad+tv so it would be impossible on the Switch. But I wouldn't mind a sequel!

Off the top of my head Xenoblade Chronicles X
-
Xenoblade X is probably the most notable one.
Colour Splash and Nintendoland too.
I'd be interested to see if Project Zero would get a port too
-
There's Molly Maggot, although that's probably not the kind of "notable" you guys were thinking of.

I just kind of assumed it meant whatever got an actual disc release.
-
Random, but check 4:53 in level 3-1 of Kirby's Triple Deluxe:
I've always thought it was pretty cold, even for Kirby, to just squash helpless peons trapped in a pit like that. They can't even respawn with the slab of stone on top of 'em.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is REAL!!
A Few points:
- Mario 64 Is just straight up the original, not an enhanced version and not the DS Version (Which is Good BTW*)
- No Galaxy 2
- Hits in TWO WEEKS!
- Limited Release. Even Digitally. Ends in March.
I'm buying it, because Sunshine and Galaxy in HD look BEAUTIFUL, but I'm a tad disappointed.
Tho, I think I know what the deal is with it being limited.
It's Limited in collection form. You will only be able to get "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" until March. I'd be willing to bet Money they go on sale individually at some point.
Maybe that's how Galaxy 2 hits too?
*Also, before anyone says anything.
Mario 64 DS is the same game at it's core with nicer models & textures & a bunch of new levels and content
The only downside was the D-Pad Controls… but it HAD Analog control... on the Touch Screen.
Just map those to the Stick & it becomes the superior version.
-
remains weird to me how Nintendo continually pairs everything neat it does with a "fuck you" to fans
no reason for a limited release digital version
-
Yeah not even indie developers that put terrible looking games on the eShop do limited digital releases.
-
I just want to know when Super Mario Odyssey 2 is coming out, or whatever is next up for the big console Mario games
-
I could see it being a while until the next 3d mario unfortunately:(
Im quite happy with all these remasters and ports though, ill be getting the mario collection, pikmin and mario 3d world ports, I just love the in house developed nintendo games.
Now if I could only get donkey kong jungle beat, new zelda collection, metroid prime trilogy and galaxy 2 then thats about all the old games i want.
-
So this just happened
-
So that's probably Nintendo's big holiday release, right? I'm not usually a big fan of Warriors games but I'm more hopeful for this one since they're closely working with the Zelda team and the plot should be better. This makes BotW the first entry with a full-fledged sequel and prequel
-
I liked Hyrule Warriors, amd this may have the champs playable?
Yake my money.
-
Zelda is using the tablet to fight.
