New Opening Them "DREAMIN' ON" by DA-iCE (Start on 02 Aug).
-
-
Aww i love Over The Top tho, curious how this new one sounds
-
That seems really early considering there are some references in the OP that won't have been covered by that date in the anime.
-
I bet the hiatus screwed "Over the Top" over in that respect, though there's really only one scene that won't make it. Could be worse - at least it didn't get shafted like "Brand New World" did back in the day.
I listened to a few of Da-iCE's songs and I guess the closest comparison I can think of One Piece-wise is "Hard Knock Days". They don't get me terribly excited, but we'll see.
I will say this though on the subject of upcoming openings: if whoever's in charge of scouting out bands at Toei/Shueisha/Fuji TV/etc. doesn't get Wagakki Band in there before Wano is over, then they might as well just cancel the anime outright 'cause otherwise what's the point?
-
The word "Dreamin" makes me think of a certain other One Piece opening.
-
"Don't give it up, Luffy…"
-
New openings are always fun, though I'm actually a little bummed this time - Over the Top has legitimately become one of my favorite openings in the series, and I was kind of hoping it would last just a little bit longer. The new opening could still be good, though I seriously doubt it would match the energy the current one has.
-
It sounds decent but was kinda hard to get a good feel for with people talking over it.
-
The song is pretty good. I like it more than hard knock days
-
Woah. This took me by surprise. I’ll really miss Over the Top, which is my second favorite theme. Weird that it’s getting replaced before all the scenes from it are shown, but this pretty clearly signals the start of the Covid production episodes.
-
There's a good possibility that the opening was supposed to begin from episodes 945 instead of 935.
On the otherhand Over the Top may have been intended for much longer than that, but a new opening was needed to draw attention to the show after hiatus. Who knows.
Hopefully the animation will match Over the Top and we don't see a repeat of We Can! style animation.
EDIT: The end of the song sounds identical to the end of Hard Knock Days. This is the generic crap they love to throw in from the record label lol…..... BRING BACK CLASSIC STYLE OPENING THEMES!
-
-
Man, I hope the visuals are as gorgeously drawn and dynamic as the first half of Over the Top. The video preview with the characters slide show and Luffy punching upward on the Sunny doesn’t have me optimistic about the visuals of this theme.
-
I'm pretty sure the visuals used in the preview are just taken from earlier episodes, right? I wouldn't worry too much about that. I don't think they tend to show much, if any, of the visuals for new openings until the actual premiere.

Those are all from previous Wano episodes lol, not the actual opening
-
thinking about which animators will be involved is the most fun aspect to me.

I make the addendum to this that bring back classic opening themes but DONT DO THE ANIMATION LIKE THOSE. Those are so BORING.

The part where they’re doing their fade-ins of characters, too? I don’t remember those. It looks like a classic “show the factions” fade-in that we typically see in the themes.

It's literally from Episode 911 yes
-
Will this spoil everything like the previous opening, even for manga readers?:ninja:
-
Just to be clear that preview video has the song but that is not the actual opening footage.

Probably.
There'll be like six new crewmembers, Luffy will fall into the volcano and find out that the entire island is secretly Pluton, Chopper will be revealed as the traitor, Luffy's real dad finally shows up and the last 25 seconds will be Imu and Rocks break dancing in front of the One Piece.Still no Gin though, sadly.
-
Thinks that will probably be blatantly spoiled:
! Kawamatsu's appearance
Big Mom-Kaido alliance
A lot of Oden stuff
The Tobi Roppo
Thinks that will probably be subtly spoiled if you pay attention:! Kanjuro
Denjiro
Yamato

Alternatively, we might end up with another “We Can”, which is mostly nonsense scenes of straw hats in fish men island clothes, and no spoilers, aside from a couple stills of important character…. but I’d prefer another “Over the Top” style opening.
-
I don’t know why everyone hates We Can when Hard Knock Days exists as the most milquetoast boring thing the timeskip openings have given us so far.
-
It will be interesting to see just how much upcoming content the opening shows. I don't know for how long anime openings are generally worked on, but in all likelihood the expectation was that the anime would be at least eight episodes ahead of where it is now, so I wouldn't be shocked if we see stuff that's much further out than usual, like post-chapter 974 further out, if only briefly, at the absolute farthest. Then they can course correct for opening 24.

That’s true, “We Can” is a better song than “Hard Knock Days”, but they have equally terrible animation
-
We can sucks because it isn't a worthy successor to We Are and We Go. Kishidan and Hiroshi Kitadani aren't a great combination. It's repetitive. The song takes 1:40 to kick in, and continues to be repetitive.
Then there's the animation (lousy, uses the same straw hat on sunny tropes and Nami's constant static open mouth is disturbing).
Hopefully none of that returns with this opening. It would be great is if they kept the episode preview sequence, it gives the opening more breathing room so they don't resort to filling it in with generic stuff.
-
Yeah but the preview window usually felt our of rhythm. That said the last song is visual catching due to the Wano story-centric theme and I hope they'll keep this. Watching Sunny days again would make me feel uncomfortable.
-
Good. I don't like this current opening song. Hoping this next one is way better.

I think we'll get both. There'll probably be a whole segment teasing the big war with Kaido and the Marines.
-
So we already get a glimpse of final outfits and the flashback, nice!
-
Yeah, keep in mind that this opening was likely supposed to debut with the anime two months further along than it is now so showing chapter 974+ material shouldn't be a surprise. Should get our first look at some new character color schemes to boot!
-
At least if there's any bad animation or tired tropes the fancy post-productions filters and lighting will redeem it

Surely Oden's anime debut, but I can easily figure a single shot of Tobi Roppo.
-
Maybe Y….. as a sneek peek too
-
-
I love how that post works on SO MANY LEVELS Y'ALL!

No Jinbe in the damn SH vs Kaidou pic

! Well his arrive at Wano is still a major spoiler. I suppose they'll add him once he made his entrance

! Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if they spoiled his arrival already and he just got a separate segment to himself.

! To be fair they spoiled Yasuie's execution long before it was meant to happen.
-

Can't deny it is highly possible.
! What we'll pretty much get is the preparation before the raid, some shots on Big Mom's rampage over Udon and her fight with Queen, the full nine scabbards, Luffy's speech, Numbers' shadow, Oden, WB vs Roger, maybe Roger Pirates, Jinbe's arrival, probably Tobi Roppo's first apparition and maybe Apoo. At this point, I'm waiting for a part of the footage to be Beast Pirates centered.
-
! To be fair they spoiled Yasuie's execution long before it was meant to happen.
! Normal Brain: spoilers appear in opening
Big Brain: spoilers in opening that never actually appear during the opening's runtime
Galaxy Brain: opening causally and offhandedly confirms fan theory long before the manga confirms or deniesIn fairness that one probably wasn't the anime's fault.

I wish they got rid of the sneak peek bits of each episode.
