I wonder if any of the Level Sixers, including possibly any of the four who joined up with Blackbeard, might have been members of Rox back in the day?

The more I look into Sarazanmai, the more I feel like Kawamatsu is a fishmen/mink. Minks are semi-aquatic and are related to Weasels and Otters. Being a fishman would be weird to those unfamiliar with the outside world, but imagine being a mink and fishman. That would possibly explain being referred to as a demon.
Jinbei is possibly connected to Kawamatsu, which would explain more about Jinbei's respect for WB and his knowledge of Minks, even though you don't really require that. WB had Oden as an apprentice before he was scouted by Roger. Izo was 1 of the Scabbards that possibly chose to stay with WB.
Edit: I was informed that Kawamatsu can't be a fishman because he eats fish. Well, I seen Jinbei eat takoyaki. It may or may not have octopi, but I assume so. Also Hachi has a restaurant that sells takoyaki.

Someone must have gotten confused. It's the mermaids that don't eat fish or meat for that matter.

Other than Big Mom, Dr. Kureha and Sabo's mother…
Are there any mothers in the entire series who did not either get sick and die or get shot and die when the characters were young.
Not just among the Straw Hat crew, but all of the allied princesses, every pirate ally they have, and every enemy they have faced whose mother was mentioned.
I go down through the list of characters and if their moms were remotely mentioned, every single one is either "got sick and died" or "got shot and died" generally when the character was around 6-10 years old.
I am sure I probably forgot one, but when I think about it... Oda has really, really over-used that same tragic backstory point over and over and over and over again to where it ought to be a meme.

Oda has said, that "mother" is the opposite of "adventure". So, I think he's self-aware of it.

I bet he loved the How I Met Your Mother ending lol by the way yes Oda should try to change something in this sense.
-
From mother being the antonym for adventure to Africa being a country, i'm very aware of Oda being a weirdo. Some might question how can OP be so vast and full of great themes, while Oda has shown a pattern of an insular individual. Well, no one is 1 way. People can be selfish, but also considerate. Just because someone makes great work, doesn't mean they're incapable of having foibles.
-
I think the redesign is pretty easy.
What does he really need besides the cape and the boosters
Earphones… Nope
Sunglasses... Nope but could stay
The scarf? Nope instead he can make it a tie
The gauntlets? Again nope
The shitty belt? Nope
The 3 on the cape? Nope.
The ridiculous hair no one can explain. Nope.
Boots being white? NopeSo if Oda wish to make him more classy simply keep the black suit plus cape and get rid of the rest while keeping a abilities.
But I doubt he will do it and we will only see some minor changes
-
It's so crazy that Zoro is Mihawk's student. I'm not curious or confident enough to train someone that could rival me one day. Mihawk must be 1 of those people that loves what he does so much that he's okay with someone topping him, but it has to be someone he deems worthy, so he makes sure he's the best. It is similar to the possibility of Shanks making sure the balance is kept until a worthy pirate comes along.
-
You know I wonder if pirates who first enter the grand line view the twin capes as Straw Hat territory.
-
Don't know if this was pointed out already, but anyways.
For the longest time Den Den Mushi had the appearance of the person who was talking on the other end of the line, as if they were impersonating that person (say you were talking to your mom, the Den Den Mushi on your hand would have her appearance).
During WCI this suddenly changed and suddenly the Den Den Mushi had the appearance of the person holding them. A lot of people called out the sudden change, but other people argued it was like that and that the Den Den Mushi are actually customized after their owners (and the times it seemed like they were impersonating the person on the other side of the line it was just because it was their burrowed Den Den Mushi).
Now Oda is back to the old way. Last chapter we had Kawamatsu and Kin'emon talking and the Den Den Mushi Kawamatsu was using had Kin'emon appearance:
And before someone says it was a Den Den Mushi Kawamatsu borrowed from Kin'emon, one chapter before we actually saw the moment Queen's Den Den Mushi assumed Old Maid's appearance the moment the call connected:
So, I don't know. Unless WCI Den Den Mushi work differently from all the others from whatever reason, it looks like Oda is kinda lost there.

I've had this same discussion so many times. I truly believe that the Den Den Mushi can copy appearance. I can be wrong and there's more to it, but even Kaido's Den Den Mushi looked like Linlin in Empty Throne (907). I addressed this in the Neolithic Revolution theory 3 years ago.

Yeah, but in those scenarios someone could always argue that Kaido had once Den Den Mushi specifically reserved for Linlin, so that's why it had her appearance. At least that's the sort of reasoning people resorted to during WCI to not concede Oda simply changed things halfway through.
But on the Queen/Old Maid example we can literally see a Den Den Mushi changing its form to impersonate the person it is voicing, so there is no way around this one. -
They've always mimicked the appearance of the person using them on the other end, Oda just flubbed it in Wano. I'm sure he can SBS a reason for it, but previously they've always changed.
Like, there is no plausible reason Crocodile would have had a snail that looked like Sanji. Or that the snail Luffy had when leaving Impel Down would look like Bon Kurei.

Hi guys, I think i figured out what the real meaning of Will of D is..let me know your opinions on this.
I will try to involve human history so bear with me a little.
Ever since the humans have ruled the planet, there has been a struggle to control the race. The best way to control would be to create laws and thereby order among people. The people who mostly created these laws did so to benefit themselves at the expense of taking away the freedom from the people.
Societies/Cultures are created to make sure we all follow some imagined order. Every single thing we do in our day to day life is Society telling us what to do as per its wishes. Societies/Government/Culture are always trying to impose rules on people which they don't want to follow. They are trying to take away the very basic desire we all feel. The feeling of Freedom. The feeling to live your life at your own way. This is the very feeling which is an enemy or those who created rules and want everyone to be subdue.
The people who have the will of D are exactly these people. Their desire for freedom is soo strong that they find it difficult to follow any rules. They will take any kind of risk to achieve this freedom to do things as they want. They live every single moment being free from the rules which everyone follows. This very act of not listening to the rules make them the enemy of any governed structure. This is why Luffy choose to be a pirate. He is the very representation of these people.
The Taoist knew that the world is structured around order and chaos. If the World Government represents Order then the people with Will of D are those who won't follow this order are thereby represented by Chaos. They refuse to follow any rules and hence get labeled as the enemy of of the Gods. Hence the phrase- D will always bring in a Storm/Chaos.
This is also why people Will of D die smiling because they have spent every single moment of their life with their own accords.

I wonder if there are any toilets inside Bege.
That should be a given, I just wonder how the plumbing and waste disposal works.

Luffy when he sees Bege's abilities: "Do you poop?"
-
That should be a given, I just wonder how the plumbing and waste disposal works.
Just like everyone else's waste disposal works except that in Bege's case he has to pass more than just his own.

I know this is probably an Anime section comment, but this is a result of the Manga.
I noticed that the voice actors are getting quite old, just to give some examples, Luffy's is 64, Sabo's is 66, Akainu 58, Rogers voice actor passed away, albeit has a replacement but is 75 years old.
There have been a few passings, like Whitebeards, Kizaru, Zeffs VA. It's sad to see these iconic voices disappear and that time could be dawning on the voice actors of the Strawhats. I can see One Piece maybe finishing in around 10 years or maybe less, so we might see more pass away.

This has probably been addressed by someone in the past. But I think the reason why Marines think that people with Conquerors Haki are dangerous is due to the fact that they have the quality to become a king. One of those kings could be the Pirate Kings, so their goal is to eliminate those before they do become a King such as Ace.
Ace was really powerful and he probably had the power to become the Pirate King if he had lived for longer.

I was re-reading Big Mom's Elbaf flashback the other day and something struck me. The Solstice festival was one of those things that I didn't really think about for the longest time, but this time I realised that the fact that they celebrate it and keep talking about appreciating the sun means that it is very important for their culture. And that got me thinking how we already know the moon is important in the story (most notably because of Enel's space endeavours). So what if it's like:
Zou/Wano - arc of the Moon
(Kozuki symbol being a reverse crescent moon; the Minks' Sulong forms)Elbaf - arc of the Sun
(Solstice, ???)How this would actually come into play in the story, I wouldn't know. I just find it fascinating how these 2 arcs in the New World that we've been anticipating for a long time appear to have opposing symbols they attach significance to. We may not see that much of the sun besides some symbolism and imagery, but it's a fun thought experiment.

I wonder if Sanks explored bith pole to get the answers to his argument with Buggy. Buggy decided to stay in the shitty sea but Shanks seems to like sailing.
-
I thought Buggy just stopped by in east blue to pick up a map or something before returning to the grandline? But that is only going by memory so maybe Buggy was stationed there permanently and i just missed it.
-
I am not sure if it's been discussed or not…. but I have a feeling that Kuzan has something to do with SWORD.
-

He was a big deal in east blue and terrorizing towns. He commented that he missed it so assume he hadn't been there in probably a decade and focus more in making money than exploring and i think Shanks mentionned to Whitebeard Buggy was slumming it. But I guess it's possible he wen to the poles at some point.

Remember the Holdem-looking guy who appeared in the recent flashback in chapter 961? Notice how he's wearing the same clothes and waving the same flag as Kurozumi Higurashi (the old granny). Not sure if there is a connection there, but I found it interesting and I wonder if those outfits represent something specific.
-
Oda should use this as basis for the design to Teach's Yami Yami armor. He could use his hardening to compliment his ability
-
"Yami Yami" armor? I don't think "hardening" works with that ability.
-
Hardening covers your body and so does the darkness. Better CoA makes him less vulnerable when he's using his ability. I don't see how that's not complimenting it
-
Oh. I thought you meant using it in conjunction like Doflamingo.

How about covering it over invisible haki aura shielding? Really take on a warped appearance.
Could be a bunch of characters are going to be going all JoJo w/ Stand-like forms and such, at least in cases where df powers can provide a visual component and/or somebody with observation haki can perceive them. Might be Zoro's Asura was an early step in that direction, whatever its nature.

https://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2020/02/usp-boxing_-wilder-vs-fury-ii-2.jpg?w=1000&h=600&crop=1Yeah, I don't think Oda has any other plans to the Yami Yami powers other than debuffing devil fruit abilities.
I may be wrong next years, but at least I will be surprised.
-
I wonder if we will even see "Asura" again. I never really understood it. Was it a power in Zoro or his Swords?

Blackbeard has two "devil fruits" he doesn't really need "armament" anymore anyway.

I know this is an old comment, but I figure I might as well reply to it. Anyway, the giants of Elbaf are loosely based on the Vikings. In the Viking myth of Ragnarok, the wolf Fenrir devours the sun and the moon (I believe some versions of the myth say that Fenrir's children will devour the sun and moon). I have a suspicion that Blackbeard or one of the three weapons is going to block out or eat the light of the sun, moon, or both and cause havoc. I think this would fit well with the theories that the Red Line represents Jörmungandr.
The Wano and Elbaf arcs will probably shed some light on how Devil Fruits came into existence or grow (from a World Tree and/or the Adam and Eve trees?) and how seastone is made. Maybe they are priming us for the 'Ragnarok' of the One Piece world or how the One Piece world has previously dealt with Ragnarok. -
The only showing of Oden's CoC in the flashback was his clash w/ WB. Maybe the anime squeezes a scene in while he's doing the 3 day challenge. Could use it on the fish that try to eat him. Possibly while he's sleep. It would go with how Luffy used it unconsciously and Asura recalled how Oden could use CoC as well

While i totally enjoy the beast pirates, i kind of miss some non-zoan DFs in their rows.
Sure they have Hawkings or Apoo, but they´re more or less trustworthy allies.
All of main crew having mystical-ancient zoans or just smiles is still an event to witness in the upcoming fights, but even CP9 mixed in some powers like Bluenos and Califas. -

Just came from Paramecia City in WCI arc. Wano being Zoantopia is fitting
-

There is nothing to shine with if all zoans do is boot your normal powers. And seeing how kaidos top 3 guys only have dino fruits it doesnt seem likely that we will see cool mythical ones
-
Queen's DF is the only dinosaur based. All 3 are ancient creatures, but Jack is a mammal and King's ability has to do with a pterosaur. With the hybrid, Awakening possibilities, and the fact that we just got a special Paramecia last arc, I wouldn't count the Zoan out. We aren't done learning about DF applications
Also, the anime used some filler recently and it further made me question what I already did about Zoro's Dragon Shock (Quake in off trans). It reminded me of Udo Jin from Rurouni. We see that even Tashigi made the remark that Zoro didn't use Haki while using it. He cut through the snow and she was terrified beforehand due to the sudden flying cut from earlier (which had Haki). Now, in this filler, Yasuie is saying that Zoro didn't cut them, but they are passing out. It's almost like CoC, but with the sword.

That´s one thing i kind of not like, theme a whole arc with the DFs used there.
Feels like using all those ideas in one big junk and then being done with them.
WCI was food-like DFs and now we get all animal like DFs, with some ancient and 1 mythical zoan so far.
It´s hard enough to get a DF but the yonkous theme-ing their crew around special DFs seems like variety taken where it wasn´t necessary.
Mixing up all kinds of DFs makes the whole combat more interesting in my eyes, but i guess we get this with BB.
Still there are so many crazy good DFs out there that should be used in the series, but the room for them to appear (also with a character that matters and not some random marine soldier) gets less and less and that is where some other food-DFs or zoans could have been used.
I would bet that we won´t see another food-DF user in the whole story, but something like a wood-DF could be used by a marine VA that gets kicked in half a page by someone like Sanji. -
