Saint Seiya came to Netflix once its extremely shitty remake came so who knows?
Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ)

Soon as in 2025. Jokes aside, I know they won't, but I wish they would upload all of what they have, at least Punk Hazard in its entirety.
-
An update on dub episodes on the same day we get news of the Netflix live action series?
Interesting.
-
So One Piece live action is coming to Netflix, is there a chance we'll see the series, or even the films come too?
This is seriously still a thing? Even with Oda overseeing it, I can't see it being good.
Hey look, at least they're giving us another "soon".In October it was "really soon" now it's just "soon". We've downgraded my friends
-
Swear to God this better have nothing to do with the Lawsuit because I can't handle live action One Piece done by Netflix and being at 10 episodes and live action. Our anime childhoods will be rushed sadly. :(
-
Well, at least we got an "update"….

So, all kinds of pandemonium going on at Funimation right now. Their one boarderline-porno "Interspecies Reviewers" just got completely removed from Funinow, because they finally figured out it was… a boarderline-porno lol. Only one ep. was released dubbed, so hopefully not too much cash in the trash right there.
Another show "A3!" is getting delayed indefinitely in Japan (which signifies that there's major production issues going on - just taking a look at a few clips on youtube, the art and animation looks terrible), so yet another crap show they just picked up willy-nilly. Also, the My Hero Academia simul-dub is delayed yet anther week, but apparently they said it's due to materials being delayed from Japan, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was them selling themselves too short and using too many resources by dubbing all this other crap.
I just can't imagine how much $$ they've squandered by their lack of forethought, planning, market research, etc., and not to mention untapped revenue by refusing to release more of OP in a timely manner. It's absurd, to be honest.

Eh, I doubt any of this will affect how they release one piece besides possibly MHA. Honestly the only series that seems to really impact OP'sdub is dragon ball kai/super so as long as that show isn't getting new sseasons, we shuld be fine for a while.

I really don't buy Dragon Ball having a bearing on OP’s production either, because there were parts of Kai that were being worked on simultaneously with OP without issue. Not to mention, even if it turns out that they hadn’t dubbed one lick of Punk Hazard before the announcement back in October (which we know isn’t the case), they should have had at least one 12-episode batch ready to go by now, if they treated the show with the same amount of precedence as the rest of their catalog, that is.
I’m not saying it’s just one or two shows that are having an impact, I’m saying that it’s a combination of the 20+ titles they feel they have to swipe up and plow through immediately with simuldubs each season, regardless of their quality (or double-checking their standards apparently). As Funi staff have said on social media, simuldubbing takes a considerable amount of man-power and resources - from those writing up licensing contracts, all the way to the booth - which for many has produced a rushed, chaotic working environment. And with such an environment, it’s no surprise that you start getting rushed, chaotic, money-hemorrhaging results, which is pretty much what we’re seeing here.

which is why it's completely dumbfounding their current marketing strategy is to simuldub pretty much EVERYTHING they license these days.

For new or less established titles, they should adopt Sentai's model where they put them up subbed first to gauge interest, and then move onto a dub a month or two later, if it makes financial sense to do so. It would cut back dramatically on the duds, and increase production quality as well.
I think this latest incident's going to start changing their approach on their simuldub program, because there's no way it isn't going show up as a big red mark on their balance sheet.
-
Man, is there even a point in guessing when they’ll release episodes? I’m placing my next bet on a simultaneous release with Stampede—or somewhere around the same date. March suddenly isn’t so far away.
-
Wow, so they are still dubbing Punk Hazard. For the people who have seen the subbed episodes, does anyone know roughly what episode that screenshot was from to give an indication on how far through PH they are?
-
Huh. Wasn’t expecting that. Great to get a confirmation though, even if it’s mixed news. Their being only forty episodes or so ahead, I’m not as pissy that they haven’t released the first batch yet. They’re not so far ahead of it as I thought.
-

Episode 622; arc ends at 625
-
Maybe this is just me being optimistic, but what if it's just a pick up? Or they could be recording certain things out of order? Funi said as much of the dub as fast as possible, and I really hope they deliver.
-
My fiancé mentioned that it could be an old photo. But I’m not relying on that optimism. Most likely, they’re at the end of PH.
-
Well Stephanie's original link didn't work, so maybe she pulled it last second, bc it was too far ahead. Maybe they're tryna mislead us. I just want more dub already.

There’s a small possibility, but I wouldn’t get so hopeful. She wouldn’t leave the posting if she wanted to cover it up.
-
I can still see the picture.
Maybe they recorded most of Punk Hazard, but not all of the actors were available originally, so they're finishing up now.
-
Yeah this isn't unheard of, i heard Funimation was done dubbing DBZ Kai the final chapters for a good while but couldn't release it until Sean Schemmel dubbed all of his lines
-
I'm saying Stephanie's original link could've been a different pic, though it doesn't seem very likely.
-
I responded to Luci Christian's tweet about going to Funimation tomorrow saying I hope she's recording more Nami tomorrow, and she liked it.
-
Doesn’t she have a super long commute? Like she lives in Houston or something. I think she only goes up when she’s doing a huge session (and knocking out many episodes at once).
In two months, it will have been half a year since the announcement OP was coming back “very soon” and two years since the last dubbed episodes were released.
-
In what seems an unintentional troll, Funimation announced a return release date for their One Piece at a Time Podcast. Spring 2020. Some people think this means the dub will return then, but I don’t think they’re related at all.
-
Welp, May 2020 solicits are out. No One Piece. That's officially two years of no new episodes on DVD.

Are we sure there are more DVD releases planned?
It could just be streaming, at least for the near future.

Man, they were really convincing in that video announcement that the new dub episodes would be coming really REALLY soon!

Yep..they did. And now we know punk hazard hasn't even finished being dubbed yet. Truly some fast work.
-

They said outright that the return of the dub would coincide with Stampede's release in US theaters.
"I cannot think of a better time to be a One Piece fan than right now!"
-
If you live in Latin America and Brazil it is, because an uncut redub is coming to those regions!
…Someone had to bring up a positive.
-
Maybe something went wrong and large portions of the dub were lost, so it had to be redubbed from scratch.
-
Hey, I know we are growing more and more desperate and all but that doesnt make any sense.

There is a history there, they lost episodes of Dragonball GT
!
-
INB4 YOU DONT KNOW ONE PIECE VIDEO GETS RELEASED.
lol.

That’s crazy to think about. If they’d kept recording and releasing DVDs as consistently as they used to we’d already be in the latter half of Dressrosa by now.
Hopefully we’ll be lucky enough see some episodes from that arc dubbed this year

Lol. This comment will only make everyone who reads it fuming mad. Haha

FUNi. brand manager at some point in the future: "We've decided we're no longer going to release OP episodes on physical media, the numbers for our sales dropped dramatically over the past 2 years. We're not sure why"

You joke, but you are probably right. I'm sure there are a lot of dub watchers who switched to just watching the subs because of this long hiatus. A drop in sales won't shock me too much.

Raffy was referring to the two years where there were no dvd releases.
I’m not sure if the viewership will be high or low when it comes back. You’re right about some people switching to subbed, but there’s also people who will jump on board because of the excitement of it returning after so long. And many of the dub watchers who switched will probably come back to rewatch.
Friendly reminder: while we wait for new episodes, we can always watch the dubbed re-edits that the one guy released on reddit. The quality of the editing isn’t perfect, but it saves a ton of time while never losing canon content. I’ve been rewatching Sabaody lately; might try to rewatch Impel Down after this, assuming we’re stuck waiting on PH for another month.
I’m going to be pissed if the first small batch of episodes comes out and they don’t announce a release date or release schedule for the next batch. I hate this waiting game so much. Why they won’t tell us a date, I have no idea.
-
I really hope they don't abandon physical media. We'd lose out on extras, commentaries, behind the scenes, 5.1 audio… We were so close to Blu-Rays too.
-
I ordered Stampede from FUNi's store and just got a shipping confirmation (had to recheck the release date, didn't think it was this month sooo it's super early), so yay at least I can finally watch that

That’s great! Mine just says processing. Hopefully everyone’s ships tomorrow.
