Yea I can imagine his voice in the anime saying those things. Bet he will change his tune in the near future.

I don't always get to do these comparisons these days, but this was such a cool chapter that I couldn't skip doing one for it.
- Don't think I mentioned this in a previous one yet, so I will here: for some reason, Mangastream calls Bege's cover story "All My Family", instead of "Oh My Family" (which Jaimini's Box and VIZ get right).
- In the official translation, Hiyori says that Oden used "two full-sized swords". Also, where the scanlations just said that she and Momo received the swords "before his execution", in the official, she says "On the day before his execution".
- In JB, Hawkins seems to think Kid has already died from refusing to submit, as he says "he's probably dead". In MS and VIZ, it's more indicated that he thinks that Kid will eventually be killed for this reason, where he says "He will die." Also, in MS, Hawkins states that Kid's crewmates are being told that they have to do this and that for Kaido/Orochi to "think about releasing your captain"; in JB, they have to do so "if you want to save your captain". VIZ goes closer to JB's version, saying that they have to follow these conditions "or your captain dies".
- The MS version of the chapter seems to hint the possibility that Law may be having second thoughts with the alliance and that Hawkins has a reason to think so, the latter saying "Had a change of heart, have we?", and Law answering that he doesn't have to answer those questions, then saying that, if the shadowy figure's plan is to let him escape, he'll "happily join in". JB more seems to suggest that Hawkins is just wondering if Law will change his mind now that he's learned more about the situation in Wano (just asking "But how do you feel now? Have you changed your mind?"), and Law says it's none of his concern, then just saying he'll "go along with" a plan that involves letting him escape, all of which comes across more like 'I don't really care what your plan is, but if I can escape because of it, then whatever, no complaints here'. The official version definitely seems to agree more with JB, with Hawkins asking if, now that they've come to Wano, "Has your opinion changed at all?", Law just answers that he's the one asking the questions, and then says to the mystery person "If letting me walk is part of your plot, then consider me a willing participant." (By walking out.)
- Hyo says in the MS version "You must learn this", while in JB and VIZ, he says "But you can do this!" (VIZ version, JB is similar.)
- The team in Kibi that Snake-Eyes is leading is called the "Rebel Commanders Squad" in JB, but is instead called "Yakuza Leaders" in MS and "Yakuza Rousing Team" in VIZ.
- When Nami asks Kin'emon about the message change, in MS (and, I believe, the original Japanese too), she asks if it goes from "habu" to "babu" by doing this. (JB omits that particular thing in their translation, since that doesn't make as much sense in English.) The official version attempts to translate the question by asking if it goes from "viper" to "wiper".
- In MS, Kin'emon states that they've relied on their "saviors", plural, implying he means others (like the SHs) in addition to Yasuie; in JB and VIZ, he says "savior", singular, just talking about Yasu. Also, in JB, Kin says that they still "have much to do", but that they're increasing their ranks to their "desired numbers", while in MS and VIZ, he says that there are still "problems" to be considered, but they're gaining manpower at an "ideal rate".
- The "Golden Kagura" from the scanlations is just called a "Golden Festival" in the official translation. Also, Apoo's words in each of the three versions are a bit different; in MS, he says "I ain't tryna have a falling out with anyone" (which feels ironic given what we found out about him); in JB, he says "The ones who refuse to join your crew don't know what they're missing out on" (which sounds almost like it's making a reference to what we found out about him), and in VIZ, it just says "I'm not gonna get left out of the fun!"
- With the children nearby, the exchange is "Who is that?" "One of the Numbers", sounding like they mean Apoo specifically. In MS and VIZ, they say "What are those?"/"What is that?" "The Numbers", apparently talking about all of the big monsters (maybe including Apoo in that, too). When Queen refers to them on the next page, he calls them "the worst sort of drunks" in MS, says "they've all got drinking problems" in JB, and notes that they're "such messy drunks" in VIZ.
- Big Mom agrees with Kaido stating the banquet will be great and mentions, in MS/JB, "the/our anniversary". In the official version, she states that they're "celebrating" (presumably she means celebrating their new alliance).
Also of note, the next chapter is apparently gonna be coming out on VIZ early, unless they wrote the date wrong; it says September 13 (which is a Friday).
-
with Big Mom's crew plus the unseen flying six, the numbers, the calamities and the rest of Kaido's crew I'm not sure how the straw hats can beat all these guys without more help from either the grand fleet or another Yonko group and that's not even considering Big Mom and Kaido who I have no idea how they can win against one let alone both of them
-
Even if it were just for a few pages I would've loved to see Law and Hawkins BS powers face off. I'll just have to imagine how nonsensical it got.
The added detail of Apoo being in league with Kaido for a bit longer puts me off a little bit. Why does Kaido have to jump off of a Sky Island to meet with Apoo. Buggy would be impressed by that overly flashy entrance.
The last page was insane of course and I'm amused that this single act has surpassed many whole arcs in terms of quality as well as quantity. I thought it would have concluded a while ago but it keeps going.
-

He didn't do it to have a flashy entrance to get Kidd and Hawkins to join him. He was bored and tried to kill himself (which was clearly stated on the chapter it happened). It was most likely Apoo, who was already Kaido's subordinate, who knew where and when will Kaido do the jump to "set up" the meeting knowing that Kaido will be interested in making them his lackeys.
-
Time to call in the Grand Fleet. Wano is going to be the site of the biggest war since Marineford.
-
It doesn't matter which party set it up, the fact that it wasn't a chance encounter takes away from the scene. That detail was a bit gratuitous to me even though it did literally tie up a loose end.
-
Why shouldn't Kaidou arrive there jumping from the clouds? That's the coolest entrance scene for his tough act and drunken charisma. And it's not like going to the sky island is difficult for a flying dragon.
-
Speaking of that, I've seen people theorize that maybe Urouge is also with Kaido (maybe one of the numbers?) since he just happened to be in that Sky Island and that's also a pretty strange coincidence.

Lol but unfortunately Oda is not known for the accuracy of his silhouettes.
-
There's some chapters where you read it and you just know Oda did a couple of pages less than normal even before you look at the pagecount. This was the kind of chapter where I would have guessed a plus size 19 pages right after reading, even though it's actually just 15. What a week for One Piece!
Bege's story has taken a near-immediate turn from the direction most people expected it to go. No idea where he could go from here, but the implications are interesting. We don't know whether this is taking place the day after Whole Cake Island or a little later, so it's pretty likely the Reverie is still running in the cover pages. It'd be very interesting to get some extra glimpses of it this way, but I kinda doubt we will.
The new about how entry and exit from Wano works has interesting implications. It's a pretty common theory that the island is a bunch of smaller islands put together by the Ancient Giants, but the diagram shown this week really doesn't look much like that. It looks to me a lot more like a solid, if oddly shaped, landmass rather than an island cluster.
The Numbers are an odd-looking group. I'm not convinced that they're Ancient Giants yet. The body shapes are off compared to what we've seen, and the horns are all wrong. It doesn't feel right that Onigashima, the skull on Punk Hazard, Oars, Little Oars Jr and Kaido would all have the same horns while the rest of the species is totally different. I'm just not seeing it. They could be from a seriously diluted bloodline, or be failed attempts from the World Government to recreate the Ancient Giants, but they're certainly not the same thing.
But of course the big news is Kaido and Big Mom's alliance. Holy shit guys. I think the fact that even Onigashima itself looked shocked is all the confirmation needed of what a huge deal this is. It's absolutely the right choice for the direction of the story though. I wrote a lot of words about the possibility of a team-up over in the Wano thread the other week which I won't repeat all of here, but my feelings are essentially that this is a necessary development to flesh out Kaido's somewhat lacking own crew. It also raises the chances of Luffy being able to take on an Emperor in a one on one fight (or at least do most of the fighting himself). A team effort to topple Kaido was a good theory before this, but now that there's definitely enough enemies to give all of Luffy's huge alliance a decent fight before it comes to that, we can feel a lot more certain our boy is gonna stand his ground against either Kaido or Big Mom for real.
Worth noting also, this is confirmed as the first chapter of volume 95. This is just the opening of the book. Imagine how much more crazy things are going to get if this is the starting point!
-
If the Riverie is over, is it possível for the CP-0, the Admirals and the RA to show up in Wanno!?

https://i.imgur.com/p9dNAeo.pngTashigi is most likely still with the children at Vegapunk's. If it's a marine (for whatever reason) then it could be Koby.
If the Reveri is over, he escorted the Dressrosa people back to Dressrosa, on his way he got orders from Akainu to check out Wano.
Law and Koby might know each other from the Rocky Port incident.
It's all hypothetical and very unlikely since Law's reaction isn't as it should be if it were someone from the outside or a marine. -
C'mon, guys and girls! This chapter deserves more than a single page of 17 posts!
one of those "number"-guys Looks just like Linlin's "lifespan-collectors" from Tottoland (just with Horns and sharp teeth).
If they are Zoans they might be still just wax in O-tama's Hands. -
Marco needs to get whatever Whitebeard commanders are left and head on over. We still got Jinbe and whoever he brings to the party.
-
Next cover story, Perona stumbles upon the fire tanks pirates to search together for Moria.

Well after what happened in Punk Hazard with Doflamingo nearly killing him, I wouldn't be surprised if Smoker and Tashigi and a faction of Marines went rogue and were just sort of acting as humanitarian mercenaries rather than having to operate under the Marine flag.
-
This chapter was absolutely insane! I did not expect then to get into an alliance, but when you think about it, it was the only logical option. Because they're Deathmatch would have to have ended off-screen for no apparent reason, or they would have to get into an alliance. This actually helps because kaidos crew felt underpowered compared to the alliance that is building, especially if you added the straw hat Grand Fleet. Which we all knew was going to be a part of this Arc. A p o o working for kaido all along actually makes a lot of sense and explains everything pretty neatly. I was surprised to see you law had already beaten Hawkins. Just adding to the list of off-screen fights, which is frustrating but at least it keeps the pace going. And it's something the anime can always show. Overall, this chapter was actually somewhat exciting and I look forward to seeing what happens next

Momonosuke will sure have to grow if he plans to use that big sword from his pops, I doubt this way he can even hold it. And having 8 with swords will likely not work.
Bonney or shoinobu, do your thing. Or is it maybe the side effect of time travel fruit. -

I hope Weevil will arrive at Wano and team up with Luffy. He's a necessary ally.

Id rather him to stay in between Luffy and big mom / Kaido alliance, and fight both sides, think itd be pretty cool.

Since he's after Luffy and Marco it'll be like he's on Kaido's and Big Mom's side. I don't think that'll work.
He could be an opportunity for Luffy to have little power up before he fights Kaido. And after Luffy beat some sense into him they can team up. Miss Bakkin could be problematic. -
Tashigi is most likely still with the children at Vegapunk's..
Not pushing for that person to be Tashigi specifically, but it is still a possibility. Fujitora whom the Strawhats met an island later already went to Vegapunk's island and made it back to Mariejois for the Reverie.

Im expecting to see some of the sub plot threads that earlier in the new world to come into fruition in Wano, like Weevil, the scattered Wb pirates and grand fleet.

I don't get why Hawkins says they were "betrayed"… they just stambled across Kaido by chance, didn't they? It's not like Apoo is the one who lured Kaido in that island
-
-
I don't get why Hawkins says they were "betrayed"… they just stambled across Kaido by chance, didn't they? It's not like Apoo is the one who lured Kaido in that island
At the very least, this information certainly implied that Kaido showing up at that island was not a coincidence.
But either way, Apoo was definitely working under Kaido since long before he "joined" Kid and Hawkins, and since he didn't tell them about this at any point, it's clear he was never sincere when he agreed to be part of the alliance. Based on the wording of it ("set up"/"tricked"/"betrayed", depending on the translation, and that Apoo was under Kaido's employ "all along"), it's pretty much a given that Apoo joined under false pretenses just to eventually screw over Kid and Hawkins and put them in a position where they were forced to join Kaido as well (which worked in Hawkins's case, not so much for Kid).
-
Kid and Killer had weapons and were trying to get even more weapons. I think weapons are part of the reason why Kid went to Totland. Apoo was said to go there at some point as well. As we see that they were interested, like some other yet to known characters, in Caesar's product. Apoo could've easily seen this as a chance to get Kid's and Hawkin's crew out of the way and also get weapons. Or, was Apoo roped in by Drake for an even bigger prize like knocking down Kaido for the WG by infiltrating them and providing intel until the time was right to knock em off.
-
.. in that case, why Kaido ignored Urouge? If he was there to recruit soldier, he could've "asked" Urouge as well, the moment they came across each other on Ballon Terminal..
-
Obviously, Kaido shitted himself when he saw Urouge
-
So when it was first revealed that Law was after Kaidou I assumed the Big Mom's and the Animal Pirates would be dealt with more or less at the same time. I always said however that this doesn't mean that Luffy and the gang would fight both Kaidou and Big Mom literally at the same time… Yeah I should have known Oda would go over the top on this.
Kaidou and his entire group will be beaten by conventional means and will probably be the last to go in this specific scenario. When it comes to Big Mom I believe we will see her fight in full capacity in no crazed hunger state but ultimately her memories will be unlocked and that will ruin her game plan. I expect her to abandon Kaidou and pull out of the war after some combination of Sanji/Pudding/Struesen/Cake reveal to her what she did to her family.
-
Maybe he crunched it all together when he realized how long it'd take to spread it all out
-
I had kind of been hoping the ultimate battle that would dwarf Marinford would be at the Marines' stronghold again, and it would be a three-way fight between them, the Revolutionaries (and Luffy's Fleet, among others) and this exact type of alliance between Big Mom and Kaido and their various pirate allies. Is this going to be it, though, in Wano rather than somewhere more appropriate for the Revolutionaries to target? If so then I expect Blackbeard won't be far behind. Maybe even Shanks, who ought to have eyes and ears that would alert him to this kind of thing, since he was so concerned about Whitebeard messing with Blackbeard and stopped Kaido from going to Marinford too. The Marines may not have concerned themselves with Wano but it's not like Punk Hazard where it's expressly forbidden to go there, so if they had a good enough reason they might…although they'd have to use the fish waterfall option since there's no way Kaido would let them up through the easy way. Not sure exactly which Marines might but if Fujitora really does want to catch Luffy...well, I wouldn't know how he'd figure out Luffy was in Wano but this would give the old idiot a chance to redeem himself for his inexcusable stupidity in Dressrosa.
-
Cover page: Looking forward to the next one really. I love family, classy Bege.
Was it Orochi or Sukiyaki whom sentenced Oden for execution? I am going for the latter.
Finally, at least two bladesmiths could potentially appear. Zoro going to Ryuma’s grave should be interesting. How will Momo use his blade?
It is nice to see that maybe, just maybe, Apoo remains sided with Kaido until the very end.
I am curious as to why Killer did not recognize Zoro. Or at the very least, the extent of how broken he is.
Whom let Law escape and why? Many suggest Drake, especially considering how he was acting before. I’ve seen people suggest he is working for the marines still. If so, could Law have outed him, as he was a warlord? Explaining X’s weird behaviour.
I hope Hyou stays in chibi form the remainder of the arc.
Franky and Usopp are going to put in some work on those ships.
I have been thinking that perhaps there is no traitor at all. The citizens of Wano are just dumb. “Only someone with knowledge of all ports of Wano…”. You mean like Orochi and his entire faction? Imagine, HA!?
Hiyori must have gone to retrieve Enma. I am just surprised that no one is going with her. Cat and Denjiro are still missing. As well as the identy of: Witching Hour Boy. Kyoshiro’s agenda. Whom is Hitetsu waiting for?
And last week I was saying the alliance was looking bad. That was considering Big Mom as a third party. Now the alliance has to hope that CP0 and the government make a move.
-
@K.:
Was it Orochi or Sukiyaki whom sentenced Oden for execution? I am going for the latter.
As far as i recall it was Kaido who boiled him to try to extract poneglyph info.
-
Oden's execution was through boiling, but it has not yet been stated whom gave the order.
It has been mentioned several times that Oden was prosecuted as a criminal.
My current mindset is that: Orochi was an advisor to Sukiyaki, and he manipulated the latter into killing his own son. Sukiyaki then was either killed or committed suicide because of the shame.
-
I’ve seen people suggest he is working for the marines still. If so, could Law have outed him, as he was a warlord? Explaining X’s weird behaviour.
Assuming Drake went undercover for the marines, wouldn't only Sengoku and maybe one or two other high-ranked Marines have had knowledge of his mission Pre-TS, just like with Rosinante? So I don't see how any warlords would be privy to that info.
Cat and Denjiro are still missing.
No idea about Denjiro, but with the BMP and BP allying themselves, they can finally enter Wano. And I expect Neko's initial plot point entering Wano will have him spotting them entering Wano the legit way, and informing the SH alliance about it.

I wonder if it will be Lucci as the shadow. X Drake is really CP0 and once he learned Strawhat Law alliance arrived, he told Lucci who decided too show up. A chance for the government to use the situation to over throw Orochi and Kaidou so they can make Wano a part of the World Government. I can see that as a reason Law not wanting any part of the alliance anymore.
-
I can see the WG trying to take advantage of Wano, if they do help against Kaido and Linlin. Momo goes "nope". The WG tries to attack and Zunisha appears.
The possibilities in Wano are so crazy. Oda better not make me cry at the end
-
@No:

An information leak.
I wasn't saying it like the warlords would know. But, that Law being a warlord gives him access to government facilities where he could have overheard, seen documents, etc.
What you are saying is right though, hence the question: why would Drake, a government official, help Law.

Not that conveniences like that haven't occurred. But that could be a good way to bring Cat bag into the fray.
With Denjiro, I don't know, we know he confronted Kaido at some point with Ashura. He may have been captured, and if in a span of a month, Kaido and Orochi made Killer their mumbling pawn. If Denjiro was caught for years. Could he have changed drastically.
-
What you are saying is right though, hence the question: why would Drake, a government official, help Law.
Simple, they have the same goal of taking down Kaido.
With Denjiro, I don't know, we know he confronted Kaido at some point with Ashura. He may have been captured, and if in a span of a month, Kaido and Orochi made Killer their mumbling pawn. If Denjiro was caught for years. Could he have changed drastically.
He's still a mystery. He could be dead, a brainwashed pawn for Orochi, Kyoshiro, Witching Hour Boy, etc. I just don't see him being Denjiro of the Nine Red Scabbards when he properly shows up in the story.
-
Ah, duh. Enemy of my enemy. I guess it is a risk though, you are leaving a powerful enemy out.
Drake's orders would be to eliminate Law and the alliance as well. Ultimately.
I guess we have to wait until we see the moment Hiyori met with Kyoshiro to know further.

Anyone want to weigh in on how many of those Numbers freaks there are? I'm betting 9 or 10 depending on if the 'Ace' is part of it, otherwise it'll probably correspond to the numbered cards in a suit, 2-10. Don't know if Kaido has his own 'Joker' or '10' equivalent in his own crew or if he allowed the title of Joker to be held by Doflamingo despite not being directly affiliated. He has the Jack, King and Queen accounted for with the Calamities but they're worth as much as a '10' card in most games so maybe there's one more special member of the Beast Pirates that holds a high rank like theirs. Or the 10 would be the leader of those Numbers monsters.

I would count the Ace in. Not only that but if it follows some of the most popular card games world wide, there is a high chance that the ACE is the second in command of the beast pirates. Something similar to what happened with Katakuri being revealed late during Big Mama's arc. We know that the king holds a high position in almost any game, yet hardly ever the king beats the ace. I feel there are characters yet to be introduced in this already packed story arc.
