It has been decided that One Pace will use the occasional piece of filler now at the discretion of the editors/ qcs. This will happen rarely for the scenes that benefit the quality of our episodes yet don’t waste a-lot of time and ruin the manga’s pacing. That being said we won’t be taking requests, filler is still going to remain rare so your favourites scenes may or may not be cut. We are simply acknowledging that sometimes an adaption can outshine it’s source material while still being for the most part loyal. We aim to satisfy both our manga loyalist fans and anime centric followers with this change. We hope to enjoy your continued support as the project continues to grow.

Filler is the devil. I can only understand leaving it in if it messes up a scene by taking it out, like by having music jump around
-
Sounds very reasonable. Thanks for the announcement & explanation, Feeso. And thanks One Pace team in general for the past few episodes.
-
There'll surely be those who'll scorn the loss of purity that change brings, but if you ever needed to earn the right to exercise some editorial discretion, you don't anymore. Although I am curious as to what bits of filler prompted this change. Especially since, looking back on hundreds of episodes, I can only think of a mere two scenes that I thought were made worse by overzealous cutting.
-
Hopefully the zoro fight scene from the newest episode will make it.

No particular filler scene brought about this change, it's something that was being discussed for a while now. It's more the mere possibility that we'd automatically discard something that could improve the episodes, the lack of flexibility could be frustrating. There are certainly many older episodes we'd handle differently in terms of editing quality but the number of filler sequences in the grand scheme of things that will find a place in pace going forward will continue to be a small minority. More or less we'll still follow the manga's lead in 95% of circumstances, we're just giving ourselves some leighway to include filler that improves the pacing, spectacle, characterisation, context, medium changes, direction or atmosphere of an episode without wrecking the 2 chapter per episode pacing we usually aim for.
@Dahaka.:
Hopefully the zoro fight scene from the newest episode will make it.
This is likely, but not just due to our new approach, the music that inter-cuts between Zoro's fight and Luffy's scene makes the scene impossible to remove. That being said if the music did allow us to remove it, this is the kind of scene that would likely be protected by the new approach as it's brief, a great spectacle action wise (kojima is amazing) and it doesn't hinder the episode's pacing. (it also adds flare from a direction standpoint). Overall decision will be made on a case by case basis but for the most part you can still count on pace to deliver a much faster paced version of the anime.
-
I made an account just for the sole purpose of asking this question; do you guys have any plans to re-edit the older episodes once you've finished adapting the series?
-
I think this is great.there are sometimes scenes which are filler but good,so why should they be deleted?I agree with the new approach, and I believe it will make the episodes even better.
-

Because the whole point of the project is to increase pacing by deleting filler

The intention is to keep the same pacing. 95% of the time we'll probably still be treating filler as usual, only keeping it for the sake of music/ transitions. We're just keeping things open for flexibility for certain brief moments. We do not intend to ever let filler compromise the quality of the episode/ drag on. So please rest assured that we're still dedicated to improving the anime's pacing.

Yeah we're still working on older arcs between wano episodes. Eventually we'd like to cover the whole series but this is just a hobby so it'll probably take years.

Thanks for understanding! It's actually been amazing how much support we've seen for this decision. Hopefully we can deliver a better paced more manga loyal edit of the anime, without sacrificing the strengths of the adaption or quality. That way both manga loyalists and anime fanatics won't be alienated/
-
Just finished watching your version of Marineford. Great work overall, guys! You've come a long way in terms of quality.
I've been following you from the very beginning, but even compared to something more recent, like Dressrosa, this is pretty goood.
One thing though. In episode 1 at 6:30, there's a translation error. Ningyo means Merfolk, not Fishmen.
That's why the exchange between Crocodile and Jinbe doesn't seem to make any sense.
-
Curious if you guys are gonna start rendering out the episodes in 1080p for Wano? I noticed the first episode for Wano was, and would love if that stayed.

Yes, that's the plan for Wano and all arcs post-Wano.
Anything between Episodes 207-891 will remain 720p, and anything between 1-206 will remain 480p.
-
Thanks for the quick response Galaxy! Super happy to see you guys moving to 1080p for the new episodes.
Also really happy with the decision to keep some of the incanon filler, as I think Wano really needs it. -
Looking forward to Wano 02.
-
I noticed that not all the beginning saga's are done yet.
Any plans to add those as well? -
They're doing that as they find the time. The current stuff always takes precedent.

I'm curious to how One Pace will edit the Wano arc. It's been more faithful to the manga so far and the pacing is no longer the disaster we've been witnessing since the timeskip.
According to One Piece wikia episode stats, each episode is adapting roughly the length of a single chapter. The pacing in the manga since Wano arc begun could be described as slightly rushed & convoluted - quite a lot is happening most of the time. Which is why the anime's pacing so far feels more cool-headed.

1 chapter an episode is what most episodes have been since the time skip. That is doggy doo doo pacing. Early one piece would do like 3 chapters an episode

Adapting more shit per episode doesn't necessarily correlate to better pacing.
Having more source material to work with per episode definitely helps, but adapting more for the sake of adapting more isn't a great idea(especially considering how compact Oda has made the manga of late).

I understand your point… But One Pace is for people who doesn't like the slow pace of 1 chapter per episode and totally dislike fillers.
If you like One Piece the way it is, just watch the original show. But for others like me One Pace will be the way to go. -
Enies Lobby 10 is out!

@Galaxy:
Enies Lobby 10 is out!
Thank you for the episode.
I have a question though. When do you release the batch torrent for the finished arcs?
-
Hey One pace team thank you for your hard work me and my friends always enjoy your work. Just wondering will wano 2 be coming out any time soon?
Thanks again for your hard work -
I imagine Wano 2 will probably need at least one more episode to air, and right now the anime is doing a Stampede tie-in filler arc. I would give them a few weeks.
Question: In terms of priority, how high is Post-War on your lists? In my opinion, that's one of the arcs that really needs some One Pace treatment with all that superfluous ASL stuff.
When I did my recent rewatch using your episodes that particular arc was a serious drag going back to the original episodes.
I'm working on compiling a definitive list of "How to watch One Piece" using One Pace/other means and I just got to Post-War on my list and I'm rolling my eyes.

Not sure what's going on with the comment above but anyway, the torrent link is broken atm so only the stream works. I'll update when the torrent is working again.

The torrent link should be working now.

Finally! Thanks!
But damn that stupid fucking intro spoiles Sanji's powersuit (and Luffy's next new attack?)…

Hey Galaxy, Wano 2 seems can't to be played on my Smart TV sets, neither Samsung KS8500 nor LG OLED B8. All previous episodes work just fine.
I'm using MacX Video Convertor Pro to convert Wano episodes and get them working, but if there's any other tool you can tell me about that you recommend with some settings to help me not to lose video quality, I would highly appreciate it.

I think they're doing it out of editing and sound reasons. Being as close to the manga as possible should still stay top priority imo. If you want non-manga material, just watch the regular anime.

You should probably convert the file to a more compatible format (use Handbrake).

Same here. If you want to maintain quality, just encode at ~constant rate factor 18 at medium or slow speed. It'll still cause a little quality loss, but not much.

Amazing! Glad you guys are banging that arc out!

I've been having a great time with all the new episodes you guys have been releasing. I've been wondering, though, why does the audio sound tinny in the past few releases? I tried the files in VLC and MPV media players, and I had the same issue. Is it my setup, or did something change with the editing?

No audio issues on this end. I'd make sure all your codecs are up to date and media players as well.
The only different thing we've done is change how we encode and render our videos, but the audio is the same. I have noticed that older players and out of date players have issues with the audio combined with the new video.
On that note,
Post War 2 is out!

Hello I'd like to join the team here's my portfolio.
e: no for real tho, good luck with this scene it's hands down the worst in the entire series.
