Here's my summary of this episode:
!
This series is odd for me. I'm not super invested in it like at all. For me it's like watching the new Star Trek and Star Wars movies. I know people love it. I enjoy it for the most part. Or at least I'm entertained by it. But wow…
! I'm disappointed that they made Danny go mad. The behind the scenes explanation just kinda makes her sound even more unbalanced. I get that having so many back to back loses can weigh you down. But it also makes it sound like she had no common sense of her own. And maybe she didn't. But still. That makes her a pretty shoddy ruler. I like that she wanted to liberate people from tyranny but this was an extreme spiral out of control.
! Guess Jon is gonna have to get that throne after all.
! Part of me thought that the random horse not flippin the fuck out was Bran worging it.
Other than that. I loved the music and the visuals.
I stopped watching after Dumber & Dumber made that atrocious season 5 Drone plot, and boy they took every possible way to make it worst and cranked up to the Max.
It really became a Meme of Thrones.
And the german dude that spoiler the final two episodes on Twitter got most of the things of this episode right. Yikes that the worst is still to come.

While I thought this series was becoming a parody since S5 but this was like some Naruto-level of shitting on the main character and completely destroying what was previously build up.
To the people who have read the books, can you clarify whether the novels reach this level of terribleness or is it much better than the show and the best way to consume this series?

! The show stopped following the books pretty much after season 4 since the books aren't done yet. They're still good and it's not even comparable at this point.
! I'm glad i lowered my expectations significantly … jeez, what a mess.
Just toss 8 seasons of Jaimes character development in the trash, sure whatever!
I blame Bran for all of this.
Tyrion for telling Varys, Sansa for telling Tyrion, Jon for telling Sansa, Sam for telling Jon. But Bran is the source!

! The last two book have had the issue where nothing that major happened (Daenerys, ahem!), but the plot is never inconsistent, the characters are never inconsistent. Even during Brienne's somewhat boring journey looking for Sansa, George still finds a way to be philosophical, if nothing else.
! Fully recommended. Considering rereading them myself.
Does anyone want the leaks for the last episode? Because I sure would if I hadn't of already read them.

If what I read is true:
I ain't posting it here, cause that's not my way.
Stuff like this makes me glad I never got into it. If they can't write anything worth shit if not riding on the back of George R.R. Martin, then fuck it.

I was a fool hoping they would be wrong with D&D in charge. Honestly debating whether to get the last 2 books if they ever get released.
D&D really wanted to outdo Dexter, How I Met Your Mother, Lost, and the likes, huh? They certainly accomplished it
It really is Dexter levels of bad
I was wondering why this sounded so familiar:
I've been on the back of good shows as they descend into the pit of pure and utter shit. It's called watching the entirety of Dexter. This hasn't even touched that descent into shit.
My condolences
Urghh, I don't even know what to say anymore. How can people still enjoy this shit?
I thought Varys was one of the last smart characters left. He saw what nobody else saw, and then he brought his own demise by talking openly about treason to Tyrion (who then betrayed his friend) and Jon. Might as well have told Dany directly to be careful because he's planning on poisoning her food. Not to mention that he actually thought Jon would be a good leader.
Jaimie and Cersei… what was the point of him sleeping with Brienne? Also why did Cersei even think that the Red Keep won't fall? There wasn't even a single crossbow placed to protect it. ALL of them were placed on top of the outer walls of the city, all Dany had to do was bypass them by flying high into the sky then drop down in the middle of the city where they will never reach her. Finally the lame death Cersei and Jaimie got. Crushed by debris. Uhh and what was that with the duel between him and Euron?
I don't mind Dany going nuts... but she did nothing throughout the whole episode except for burning the entire city. Why not go for the one actually responsible for all that, Cersei?
Didn't care for Cleganebowl. Atleast he killed Qyburn quickly (why did he even stay with Cersei? She can't do anything for him at this point, he could just bail on her and that's it)
God I thought G.R.R.M was acting as atleast a consult for this shite? This season was just far too short to make Danys descent into madness believable.
He broke away a few seasons ago.
Why is this season so short anyway? It's the biggest show in the world. It's not like it was in danger of being canceled or anything, they could have taken all the time they needed.
C´mon, compared to the rest, Lost was at best polarizing and convenient, while glossing over a few plot threads without explaining them.
It never went as bad as last 4 seasons and especially this season Game of Thrones, nor the rest.

Lost had no clear story plot ever, they made shit up as they went without ever an idea how to close all those threads. Yeah it had emotional scenes, but as a whole it was a shit show of promising the world and not answering shit.
I liked HIMYM's ending.
It was better than Two and a Half Man at least.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
HIMYM ending was garbage. And made it even more creepy that he was telling this story to his kids.
And that's how I met your mother before she died but seriously can I date your "aunt"
Lost had the "internet culture" curse for the first time, as someone guessed that the show would end with everyone in purgatory, as per a thousand monkeys can produce shakespiere at random. Then it had the strike in the middle, then it had some key actors being hard to work with, then plot armor for some and sudden death syndrome for others, and then people fixating on concrete answers (specially the ones already given, like the origin of the polar bears, or the ones that would require faith, like what is the island)
Also, it was when series had to be 20+ chapters, leading to pearls like the Niki and Paolo story, or stranger in a strange land, the riveting story about the main character's drunk tattoo.
I completely blanked out of the seasons 4 and 5 (flashforwards and time travel seasons)
Anyways, the show had enough material and pull to last a few more seasons, had they adapted the ironborn and dorne stories properly, and keep people all around westeros instead of placing every named character in winterfell, and surviving. I bet that there won't be as many main characters there in the books.
It was the showrunners who I guess knew that the fans were growing restless and resentful during the sand snake days. That plus the fact that every season is supposed to be like a few months each, and yet bran went through a big growth spurt, and time waits for no one, not even for no one.
I also would like to bet that jon stays dead a while longer, while another rolor style ghoul, like beric, goes north.
You know, speaking of shitty endings. I just finished rewatching the original FMA anime, and man it feels very similar to what happened to GoT (though not quite as utterly nonsensical). The first time I saw it was close to when it aired originally, and I liked it just fine despite the COMPLETELY off-the-wall ending XD. But coming back to it after having seen Brotherhood, it's like wow. There's some absolutely awful fanfiction-level bullshit in there, and they ruin a lot of characters / give a lot of one-off minor characters tons of significance out of nowhere later on.
Like I still respect that they tried to craft their own plot, but none of it holds up at all. The Homunculi origins I can dig, but the whole "we incite people to make stones because we can't" thing was a total mess, the important supporting cast like Hawkeye and Armstrong are inconsistent and under-developed messes, Scar's character gets ruined, and then we have completely absurd bullshit like Terminator Archer (who was already a stupid one-dimensional villain). I won't even hold it against them that they didn't introduce like half of the main cast from the manga, but I will hold it against them that they made up their own garbage. Dante is also pretty terrible.
That's not to say there's nothing to like, so I guess that already puts it above GoT! I do think Lust had some interesting developments in the anime, and despite being wayyyyyy overused Tucker got creepy as shit, in a good way. And of course it started out strong, when it still had source material to follow.
That episode ruled, best of the season. Come at me bros.
What I remember disliking about anime FMA was that the homonunculi origins while better conceptually, as the result of their failures coming to torment them, is that how coincidential is that they picked the seven deadly sins as names, or that they ended up being just seven the random number of folks doing ungodly experiments, instead of being the 7 wants of a particular soul that believed in that concept.

I mean yeah there's a massive lack of overall cohesion with everything, which is another similarity to GoT. Like the original manga-based homunculi actually have personalities that match their names, but once they have to invent the remaining ones, they're just random fuckers with trash characterization.
Wasn't their mother also Sloth in the original? After I watched Brotherhood the original did come off as just a mess lol.

My memory of both FMAs is pretty foggy, but I remember Dante being an okay villain, or at least compared to Father (who just felt like a typical evil overlord to me.). What was wrong with her?

I had fun with it too, even though I agree with basically every criticism thrown at it.
You wanna know what a shitty ass ending really look like? See Shaman King.
What an absolute mess of an episode writing wise.
! I must say, the action was quite nice, but I've had enough of "random soldier being on fire" sfx for life.
Random question that's not spoilery: I kind of find the regular Lannister soldier helmet wonky and not at all realistic, especially compared to Winterfell's no-nonsense design. That said, I no nothing of these things, so if anyone has better knowledge on armour in general, I'd like to see them.
Actually had the same problem I’ve had with One Piece for a while, especially Dressrosa. Too much focus on the civillians. Even when the focus was on Arya it still overdid it.
Wonder if the Prince of Dorne will show up next ep. Jon either has to kill Drogon now, or tame it.:getlost:
I think the show is shit, but I can buy it.
! From an outsider view, Dany is a woman who birthed dragons, then took over numerous cities with violence and left them much worse off than when she arrived. Her violence may have been against nobility in all of these cases, but it's not at all surprising to me that in pure anger and isolation she'd commit atrocities. I've honestly never liked her character, though, so I'm pretty biased. She just always came off as a typical white savior to me, except maybe worse.

So D and D have time to make a shitty star wars film.

I'm not sure about the practical implications, but the look of them is to highlight how the north is a non-nonsense land, while the reachmen have time and materials to waste on golden helmets with lions.

Either "I suddenly have enough power to slice god in half" or "I just neded to be slaped by my mother, after becoming GOD"
!
D&D have no idea how to write smart characters.
They excell at dumb pirate rockstars though.
No, Euron is the worst. Give me my warlock pirate or give me nothing.
! The episode was at least successful in capturing the utter chaos and death and destruction. A lot of oh shit moments and gore that really helped drive the point across. Regardless of writing, it was fantastic.
! What the hell was Arya doing there though. Although I must say, that scene with the woman and her daughter was also well executed. I mean, I kinda expected it to go like "Arya the hero saves some townsfolk" but then it was crumbled down in an instant. Brilliantly cruel. The charred corpses with the still recognizable horse figure were a bit on the nose though.
! As for Jaime and Cersei: you know, it's kind of nice how they departed this world the same way the came into it. Together. That is if we disregard everything that has happened since page 1 and Jaime's whole character ark, but, you know, it's something.

I get it, but the Lannister helmets look downright ridiculous. Not even fancy, just awkward.
I actually loved this episode and pretty much every development that happened this week (one of two fav died, but I really liked how it happened). I would just edit those sword duels away (remove the first entirely and shortened the second) because seriously…
The 3rd episode I was like "ok, good action, good atmosphere" but nothing in all that action really moved me. This episode, though, had me super hyped by the end.
That said, I only see the series as an interesting alternate take on the story and I don't really mind if it commits some errors here and there, my focus and demands all go for the books so I can take a more laidback approach on the series and enjoy it easier than most.
That episode ruled, best of the season. Come at me bros.
If you don't see how utterly stupid the writing got, when the two hacks have to wing it, then there is no helping you.

Yeah. They just randomly picked names and made up the characters.
My memory of both FMAs is pretty foggy, but I remember Dante being an okay villain, or at least compared to Father (who just felt like a typical evil overlord to me.). What was wrong with her?
Her character just kinda came out of nowhere and doesn't make much sense. She apparently hates people and humanity pretty much categorically, yet wants to keep living as one forever. She doesn't want people to know alchemy, yet it's required for her body transfer process. And she took on Izumi as an apprentice and continued helping her with medicine after she left for… reasons? Her main personality trait is that she hates Hohenheim for dumping her 400 years ago (and keeps a love letter he wrote her at the time, but apparently according to Hohenheim he was never actually in love with her!). Her body also started rotting immediately after stealing the body of re-purposed one-off character Lyra, but apparently she doesn't care! She'll just have people keep making her philosopher's stones and doing it over, because that's been going so well lately! All the homunculi also follow her and trust her for... reasons?
I think Father has a pretty decent backstory and he makes sense with the homunculi. His plan (which is basically the overarching plot and intersects with everything that happens in the series) is really well portrayed. Yeah ultimately he's just the big evil dude, but the execution is on point.
Also, father has the "excuse" that he removed his character traits, and made 7 mostly better characters than him. I would have loved if Flask-think was a lot more earthly to correspond to an "unified" father.
Also, greed did kinda gave him diarrhea, and that was awesome.
If you don't see how utterly stupid the writing got, when the two hacks have to wing it, then there is no helping you.
C'mon. Try me, bitch.
Well that was a bunch of nonsense.
It's nice to see the show return to its roots. We've been told from the very beginning that the way to win any kind of war is to have a dragon and no opposition.
I didn't expect anything and of course got nothing, but that scene still cracked me up.
I get it, for some reason they have to finish this super mega successful goldmine of a show as fast as possible (I won't even ask why), so naturally it's difficult to give each character a satisfying conclusion, but it really feels like they want to piss on iconic characters one last time while they have the chance.
I read a rummor on why it's ending. It's not star wars or confederated. It has to do with George. I'll dream in silence for a while.
Anyways, Am I the only one who finds Danny's Hitlerness pretty normal?
I remember myself watching her crucify the masters while thinking, wow, Cheeses, even Stalin would rather send them to Siberia. wtf is wrong with her.
later finding out some didn't really support slavery and Danny being indifferent to it made it all just worst.
That's really what she's always been, Jorah, Missandei and Barristan kept her cruelty at low leves, but now that they all gone… well..
Everything just feels off since there is no time for anything to sink in.
It's all like welp guess this is a thing now
Well that was a bunch of nonsense.
Did you enjoy the brotherly battle?

To me it's always been clear she use cruelty as a response not a gratuous thing.
I think she could explode. I don't think she would against those people. Jon her challenger, Tyrion that failed her to much, Sansa plotting in her back, part of the city for refusing to accept their rightful queen. All people that she can has an excuse to explode at. Not people that have done nothing and are accepting her.
