If anyone is interested in Anthem, the new Bioware game, this weekend you can play the open demo.
I played a good amount already and it's really fun. Especially if you like the genre (coop loot shooter).
It's basically Mass Effect Coop on steroids.
There IS story and dialogue but like most people know … it's not a typical Bioware RPG.
Also it suffers from technical problems and i had to restart the game like 3 times (fortunately my progess and loot was saved).

That said, supposedly the demos have been based on super old builds, which, while stupid in design, is supposedly not a true rep of the game after going gold?

They said it's based on a 7 week old build and since then they have improved the build a lot and added several new features. It most likely will still have issues at launch especially if we judge by what we have been playing so far.
That said … i still plan on buying it at launch. We had so many hours of fun yesterday in the group and the demo is only a fraction of the content that the full game will have. I will get my money's worth especially since they will add free additional content in the next years (if they stick by this plan ...). -
Is better to publish a 7 weeks old demo with known issues than an unknown fresh current build. Closing up things to ship a demo is annoying work. But 7 weeks means that they got delayed or the next builds were even worse.
-
These motherfuckers taking it back to 2017.

From what it looks like, endgame looks pretty sparse, especially when there's no Raid activity, and only three strongholds, of which one is in the demo and was… underwhelming.
But there are cataclysms that nobody really knows about that change the overworld? So we'll see how that goes
-
I think the better story is they're making a new one.
-
How many jokes will there be about him licking himself. Or characters being in heat.
-
Would be funny to see that especially given Gex was doing it first, making the game look even more dated than it already is.
-
So they're going the Conker's Bad Fur Day route?
Hmm, alright, whatever.

LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking. Since we don't appear to be getting a sequel to CBFD, hopefully this might delve into territories that the aforementioned didn't, like parodying rhythm games and whatnot that haven't already been given the South Park treatment in games.

A little thought for all the gamers here:

Speaking of Bioware, I'm considering replaying the DA series. Of course, I never actually beat DA2 and didn't get too far into Inquisition….. In comparison, I beat Origins probably about 3-4 times.

Damn even worse than Andromeda well not that I expected much from current Bioware. Good job CD Project Red exist to take there place for me.

Well shit that's S-Level Snark right there.

I never beat any of the DA games, did beat Mass Effect 1 lord knows how many times (I liked though how one of my characters couldn't carry over for the 3rd game for some reason).

Anthem has a lot of issues and a lot of the criticism it gets is well deserved. But rating it lower than Fallout 76? That's just ridiculous.
I think critics and people are just fed up with early releases that don't have enough content and have to be patched to be fully functioning and that reflects on the scores. Bioware/EA should've waited at least another 6 months until the game is ready. They really shot themselves in the foot here. Especially after the same thing happened to their main competitors The Division and Destiny! There is no excuse for this.Still, i've been playing all weekend, had tons of fun and can't wait to get home and play some more …

sooooo ummm do I need to know the stories of the previous Devil May Cry games in order to enjoy the new one?

I don't think so.

I'd guess they would fill you up as it goes, DMC3 was like that like "here's dante, he's half demon, here's virgil, he's also half demon, and his brother, they hate eachother because <plot>, kick his ass"</plot>
-
The games are for the most part self contained on top of the fact every one of the numbered games more or less ignores the 2nd game.
If you're curious to how Dante came to meet Trish,Lady, & Nero (who was the original protagonist of the 4th game) you can just watch the story cutscenes on youtube.
I personally to this day have never played the first two games and jumped in with the third.

Story should be the last of your concerns, as DMC5 has an incredibly high skill floor with a steep learning curve where the enjoyment of the game ideally would come from mastering the mechanics of each playable character and learning the intricacies of how to work around the style meter. Enemies in 5 (and in the series from 3 onwards) are somewhat passive (as opposed to Bayonetta's aggressiviness) so the only real obstacle will be your own skills, as the game is more of an action sandbox where the real game only starts once you finish it a couple of times and acquire all of the locked abilities, so that you may work around and experiment with them as you like between the story and Bloody Palace.
Before jumping in DMC5 day one at full price, i would suggest to check out DMC4 Special Edition (which you should find at a reasonable low price), to see if you're really into its gameplay without regretting an expensive purchase.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll check out the story on some Youtube vids and see if I can get one of the older games for cheap before I play the new one

So long as Ubisoft stays and I get more of Giant Bomb's incredulous riffing, EA can do whatever the hell it wants.
-
Are on the 90s again or something?
-
The game comes with the option to checkout the story from 1-4. Was a nice refresher.

Meanwhile, further developments in the "Microsoft is drunk af" plot:
Master Chief Collection is coming to Steam and everyone is very confused.
-
Replaying-it, I wish they'd do a HD Remake of Oblivion, just to get rid of everyone's fat faces and giant noses.

Shit, I'd play an Oblivion remade in the updated version of the engine they used for New Vegas.

This has happened to a lot of other games that Microsoft either wanted Xbone exclusive or Microsoft Store exclusive. I imagine it'll still require Windows 10 though. Money's money regardless of what people say about piracy on PC. I think they hope this will paint them in a good light but from my perspective it just looks like desperation and attempting to look like they have good intentions.

Will the matchmaking be broken for that authentic experience?

I'd settle for them removing how you can't move at all when you are overencumbered. That made the game unplayable for me since I'm obsessive about collecting things. At least Skyrim didn't blow it by doing something that stupid.

That one glitched out on me a lot, they'd have to fix that stuff too.

Other random shit coming to Steam for reasons beyond mortal ken, motherfucking Dwarf Fortress, the greatest game ever made.

That said his last video was… not compelling in any way lol. I also disagreed with a fair amount of his views on BotW, although it was an interesting analysis and he did have a lot of good points.

I've been watching a lot of videogamedunkey…. that guys just so funny
but not really the kind of reviewer I go for serious opinions... more about his humor

I'm a shillup/lamongamon kind of guy.

I'm a Giantbomb person.

Easy Allies has reviews and a podcast for how they feel about games (Frame Trap)

Coming after Rastskhan's Rumble, having RAFAM the SUPREEEEMEEEE archeologist singing, with the suave fortuneteller madame Lazul (finally named!) And Boom PhD being a known Ham, with Hagata having a good Summon emote, instead of going jafar/Dr falcier/mad scientist/swamp witch/corrupt King doing a big number, they went way too low key, And didn't even end in the five of them doing evil laughter.
-
I guess they canceled honest game trailers, I feel like an Idiot, I've been checking to see if it updated every day only to find out they discontinued it
I really wanted to see a Smash Bros Ultimate honest trailer, or Red Dead Redemption 2 or Devil May Cry 5
-
No thread for Devil May Cry 5? It's incredibly fun and I highly recommend it. The game also works as a fine entry point to the series if you haven't played the others.

Agreed I just started playing it and it's extremely fun

It will receive strong support for six months, languish in an uncertain future for two years, and then get unceremoniously shot behind the shed one day.

That is the fate of all Google products.
Hate the name, sounds like artificial sweetener.
