Wasn't said it here, but this game is being co-developed by Koei Tecmo.
That explains some stuff.
I got a big FE Warriors vibe from the grunt design so i'm not shocked
Okay, you guys ready for something fucking hilarious.
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE WINNERS OF THE FIND AND VOTE POLL!
[hide][/hide]
So… Let me tally this down for you:
Halloween Myrrh: Despite the seasonal aspect, she is S+ tier and one of the most dangerous red tanks in the game, if not THE most dangerous.
Legendary Azura: Best dancer in the game, making any flier and infantry combination into a lethal armada.
Duma: The newest dragon tank that is currently shaking the very meta.
Ready for the funny part: You're not going to be able to pick which one you get for free. It is TOTALLY random. You'll have four slots which are randomized. You pick one: You get one of these four for free.
The rage people are going to have over Legendary Lyn being drawn… I can't wait.
IS had a lot of friends and cousins to make it so.
I can't wait to meet Fire Emblem Cao Cao.
Which as I wrote that I realized was an apt description of Soren.
@Cyan:

Soren's not nearly as much of a horndog to be compared to Cao Cao
call me when Soren's libido gets Oscar killed and then he comes close
call me when Soren's libido gets Oscar killed and then he comes close
This is one way to interpret my failed attempt to get Soren and Micaiah to talk during the Part 3 endgame that got half the Greil Mercenaries killed.
Oh, right, there was this Find & Vote thing going on, huh!? I remember it being announced, but where was it actually happening? Never saw it in game

It's because it happened on a different site outside of the game.
You were supossed to click a link in the notice board.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh… the mythical notice board. I know where to find it, just never go there.

Breaks down the direct footage of 3H. Lots of interesting info.

Already broken down which ones belong to which house. Petra and Dorothea make choosing Edelgard's house all the more easier, but then again, Claude's has this wonderful man.

you cowards, not voting for Nailah. Do you want a respectable wolf queen with discount counter or ez mode flying dancer? :ninja:
So weird seeing a written analysis on the times of youtube.
Figured I'd share this image I found:
^LOVE this artist.
so based on what we've seen of the hud and the level up screen, I'm gonna make some bold guesses as to how character progression will work in Three Houses
I think the class system in Three Houses may function similarly to the Job system found in Final Fantasy Tactics, where having certain jobs at certain levels/mastered unlocks further jobs to use for that unit. I'm basing this on the "Class Mastery" aspect of the level up screen. I'm positing that the characters will be able to both level up as a class, and master that job for more options to unlock, be they skills or combat arts or what have you. So, Edelgard, with her axe preference, may be able to master the Brigand class faster than a character with a Sword preference. Once she's mastered Brigand, she can still gain levels while in that class, or she can change/promote/whatever in to a different class. Let's assume that just mastering Brigand allows for a unit to gain the Warrior class, which still uses just Axes, but mastering both Brigand and Mercenary allows for that unit to gain the Hero class. Similarly, mastering the Fighting specialized class along with Brigand could be how you unlock Berserker.
Based on how you can assign students different training regiments, along with how students seem to have different preferences and specializations, we can assume that this will be how the game points you towards what the character is intended to be, without forcing you to make them just that on that path with limited reclass options like in Awakening/Fates. This appears to be a lot more free-form, while still giving characters things that they're best for based on their innate preferences and, presumably, growths.
I think a system like this affords a good amount of customization for characters, you can make everyone sub-specialize in punching if you want, even it's sub-optimal.
However, I am interested in how certain classes will appear and how they might be unlocked. Based on the image we see of Edelgard's reclass options, we can see that she has access to Mercenary, Thief, Knight, Cavalier, Brigand, Archer, Mage, and Priest. This selection covers basically all of the early game selection of units that you'd get in the average Fire Emblem (with the exception of a Pegasus Knight, but more on that later). Now, either this is a selection for all characters, or Edelgard (and potentially the other Main Characters) has special privileges to dip into whatever class she wants. The former sounds more likely to me, based on how characters can appear to study for any weapon-type.
There's a few things that stand out to me based on this. namely, there doesn't appear to a class in that list that is specialized in the use of Fist weapons, unless Thief is now the designed class for that, which i find to be somewhat unlikely, based on established series tropes. The absence of other established Fire Emblem classes (most notably the Pegasus Knight, but i find the lack of a wyvern rider and a dark mage to be somewhat suspect as well) is leading me to believe that Edelgard's selection is the absolute base for what reclassing can get you at the start of the game, and that other options will unlock later, possibly as specialists in those fields join your army/school, which may lead to the addition of things like "Flying" (for pegasus), "Taming" (for Wyvern Riders), and "Occult" (for Dark Mages), to give a few examples. It's also possible that these options can also be accessed only as higher tiers of classes, only unlocked after others are mastered (though I can't really see how you would attain them, based on existing class options that we know of. Perhaps Brigand + Cavalier = Wyvern Rider? It's hard to say at this point.) It also remains to be seen if the "Faith" option covers only healing, or also offensive Light magic as well.
If this is how things work out, I'm actually very excited for sinking my teeth into this game. Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorite SRPGs of all time due to the job system, so Fire Emblem pulling a page out of that book without the limitations that the 3DS games had in those regards. It looks like you just may be able to access anything with any character, without any specific pairing options or eugenics. Characters may not have to suffer from poor class selection or "being in the wrong class" in Three Houses, if the system is anything like I predict to be. Confirming even a few of these predictions would make me very happy and very very excited for the game, so i really hope I'm on the mark at least a little for this.
I have some passing thoughts as well.
The school seems to be a central (no pun intended) mechanic, not something you can ignore or ditch after the first three chapters or something. Which makes sense, it's the result of the continent's peace so far - the three powers are comfortable enough to have their noblest minds study at the same place. The only question is, how much are you tethered to it. It could easily be like those games with a world map where you are at the academy -> missions -> academy -> repeat. I'd rather it not mainly due to the pacing, you can't have twists and turns in the other field if you can always just, y'know, go back to the academy.
But what I'm imagining is once war breaks out, the monastery loses that stability. Each country would obviously want to seize control of it, or perhaps the church becomes the roadblock. So it doesn't have to be one way or the other, it could merely be a situation where for X amount of time, you're on your own.
You pick a house, and again, the question is when. The cutscene with Blyeth and the three lords shows things are on good terms from the start, but obviously you can't teach everyone. Certain units are locked to each house, offering nice replay value, although how often you cross paths with the other houses is yet to be seen. I could easily see the parental ruler of [lord you pick] wanting to covet your skills for their own heir, amplifying the stakes of choosing one house over the other two.
I'd love if all three came with the same difficulty settings, but it's not a huge deal if one route is less taxing than the other. I have FE7 vibes for a reason. Definitely picking Black Eagles my first playthrough, and whichever i choose after that depends.
I think once war between the three factions breaks out and Byleth is forced to pick a side, we'll see changes in how the between mission stuff works, you may have just have a base camp or a place in that faction's capital or something
Does this mean that the units of each faction will eventually all unite to my army? Just means they join at a different order?
Granted, it's probably too soon to know, but that's the one thing that has me hesitant as to which house to pick.
The concept of a Brigand Exam is fucking hilarious.
Those bandits you spend the first five chapters wiping out spent four years working on that degree.

they're clearly practicing unlicensed brigandry, those dastards will be brought to justice for insulting the noble craft of swinging an axe like an asshole
After completing the mandatory four years of Bandit School (with an optional one year grad course), prospective Bandits have to pass the Bandit License exam (which is mix of multiple choice and a practical test on your Bandit Knowledge) which must be renewed every three years. You start off as a Journeyman Bandit and can apply to be classed as a Master Bandit after ten years of Bandit work in good standing.
Those who pass the Bandit License exam join up with their local chapter of the United Brotherhood of Bandits (an SEIU affiliate.) Any Bandit who is more than two months truant on their union dues or assigned picket duty will receive a visit by the local prince/mercenary company.
And then one time in Bandit Camp…
I now demand that the thread be changed to "Oh no! I'm late for the Brigand Exam!"
I demand a picture of Gonzales running like an anime girl with toast in her mouth.

Make it Marty and have him thinking "I hope Dagdar-senpai notices me today"
Keaton, Kaden, Velouria, and Selkie. Panne is free (GHB).
I thought they were going to spread these guys out. Fates literally doesn't have any more beast units. And it just makes me hurt that Ranulf isn't in my arms…
That said, it makes me curious: What are we going to do once we run out of beast units? There aren't that many! I mean, we got the Fates beasts clear. From Awakening, all we need is Yarne. Granted, Radiant/ce has at least 20 more beast units remaining, but we can't repeat banners from Radiant/ce all the time. What do we think we are? Fates?
Definitely convinces me that Beast units will show up often in seasonal events. Unless we come up with weird stuff like… Reinhardt being bitten by a werewolf and becoming one himself for Halloween?
I'm all for seasonal beasts because I'm imagining Christmas Panne with a santa hat on both ears
Didn't know Kaden and Selkie were horses.
I was too distracted by Keaton's booty to notice that his damaged art causes him to drop his collected junk. I couldn't help but laugh. See, I do like Fates characters. I swear. I just don't like the same character being added to the game 4-7 times.
god, those Fates laguz look so much like background npc… oh well, another banner I will skip.
Curiously the only modern beast I would actually be willing to give orbs to get is coming for free. Gotta love Panne, hope she doesn't suck because free unit.
Crossover subject: I really hope we can get a rabbit pokémon that looks like a taguel beast form.

I'm starting to think your feelings from Fates are a bit too biased.
Whaaaaaa… nah! Where you getting that from? :ninja:
Ok, ok, it's more the guys. The girls have a more unique design, I will admit (I just realized now the wolf girl has a red hood).
But, c'mon, it's hard to not be prejudiced when
"My tail is not wagging! IT'S NOT! ... Got it?"
"I'm Kaden, as you can see I'm from the most beautiful race in the world! The kitsune!"
"TELL ME I'M GOOD! SCRATCH MY EARS! giggles SNUGGLE TIME"
Panne art.

Why is she looking younger?
Not as vicious as i would have liked
Panne was a no-nonsense bad bitch so the artwork feels a little too cutesy for her
You know looking at it from a certain perspective the fur panties are…...dumb.
Yaaaaay, I got my bunny.
A little more "Playboy Bunny" pose than I would have liked, but her "attack" pose is pretty cool. I guess they wanted her in before Easter so they could have her AND Easter version.
Got Deirdre with a ticket! FUCKING FINALLY!!! It just took forever…
... now for Sigurd.
Keaton you are so damn broken.
Here is Death Blow 4 for you.
no beasts for me, oh well.
Gotta save for FE6 banner.
Roy is the next legendary hero, leaked by Google Play.
Dammit, where's my Panne already?
So she is. Took long enough.
How many of you plan on getting the Fire Emblem game for the Switch?
Oh, for sure I'm getting it. I'm a diehard FE fan.
