Chapter 927: The Courtesan's Kamuro

https://readms.net/r/one_piece/927/5528/1I think this is the first time in the 13 years I've been reading One Piece and 11 years I've been on this site that I've ever been the first to post a chapter thread.
Neat.
-
too bad someone posted this a minute earlier
-
Orochi looking like he has the Yama-No-Orochi DF wonder how it compares to Kadio?
-
Interesting chapter. Not a lot of action, but things are picking up. I love Strawhat interactions with each other, so it was nice seeing that. There's something off about the O-toko kid.
Also, I hoop the goons Queen sends aren't more scrubs. I'm kind of tired of all these henchmen getting one shotted. I want to see the Wano hype in action!
-
Lots of recycling different plot elements here in a short and unimportant chapter. Worst one of the arc, but that's not so bad since the arc is good.
-
So..Komurasaki=Hancock?
-
Great chapter just for the Strawhat interactions alone
-
As myself and others have said in the spoiler thread, Momo's sister is a good candidate for Komurasaki
Franky is missing fights so much. Does he read One Piece ? :-)
And we have 2 dragons devil's fruits. I understand why Kinemon hates them so much
-
That Sanji interaction was really sweet, and I like the idea of Komurasaki being Momo's sister.
-
Out on mangastream as well https://readms.net/r/one_piece/927/5528/1
-
I have a feeling that it's Momonosuke's sister.
-
Not really seeing why Komurasaki would be Momo's sister other than just guessing for the sake of it tbh
-
I think I must have forgotten when it was mentioned that Momonosuke had a sister, because it's sure getting brought up a lot.

in the flashback. His mother hold her in her arms

because she has yet to appear and if she did not leap time she is in her twenties
-
8 headed Dragon vs the 9 bladed Asura incoming?
-
Strawhat interactions always make for a good chapter.

What plot elements were recycled?
-

So like I said, just pretty much guessing at this point in time. We don't know how old she is, just her profession and rank. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it can't be her, but I can see that we're clearly going to do this with every named female character in this arc
-
I wonder if Orochi can survive getting some of his heads cut? Actually there hasn't been much depacitation in One Piece throughout all the sword fights…
-
Would be funny if Orochi just made those Dragon-head-shadows with his Hands and feet (a shadow-play) and he had no DF at all.
-
I'm gonna hope Orochi's fruit is a SMILE so he's some Bizarre weirdo with dragon heads by strange body place
-
Anyone noticed Sanji's ear when the granny said:"listen to all the cheers and her steps."?
-
Time to read and bask LOVE this manga
-
And Franky copied this move from Sr. Pink, didn't he?
-

Well my guess is that she would be an ally for Robin in her mission. Also the only other possibility so far is otama but an adult is more interesting now that we have finished the introduction act. And i'm not sure we will have that many more female characters in the future

Sanjis interactions with Toko are more endearing than anything he did in the Big Mom arc
Also, man its just nice to have a little time to let the crew be the crew. This felt like an old-school chapter in all the best ways.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also also: So far the wano-specific cast has been rather unmemorable, but Toko is adorable, and I even like Dramatically Appearing Shamisen Exposition Granny a bit
-
So, what exactly will Orochi's DF be named, in-story, unless there also was the monster Yamata no Orochi, in the OP-Verse?
-
@Daz:

I wouldn't go that far (petting Carrot was adorable), but yea it was certainly a highlight of the chapter.
-
I find it a little disturbing how calm and cocky the Strawhats are about Luffy being in prison. I know they're confident in him but damn, not even a shred of worry or doubt or wanting to go help him themselves. Have things gotten so formulaic that even the main cast knows they're unbeatable?
-
Awww, shame it wasn't an opposing cook but the mob.
As much as I like seeing non perv Sanji again, this fight felt a little forced. Almost apologetic toward Sanji fans. You know what I mean?
The rest of it was cute.

Yeah, it feels silly. What does a bad guy need to do to instill some fear around here?

Luffy always pulls through, why start doubting him now after all they've been through and seen him pull off? It's not overconfidence, it's Luffy.

It took me a while to realize that Usopp, Robin and Franky are seeing Sanji for the first time since Dressrosa, but I really liked it regardless. I prefer low-key reunions unless they're in battle, and no better way to do that than partaking in some eats.
Nothing too significant about the clash between Sanji's group and Kyoshiro's thugs, but it does lead me to believe that Oda has no intention of portraying Sanji as falling behind in terms of strength. With his easy punishment of Country Boy, it seems clear that he'll dominate weaker opponents without any issue and thus any struggles he might have against a stronger opponent down the road shouldn't be any different than the struggles a protagonist would typically face in that instance.
Intrigued about what Komurasaki will bring to the table. She seems destined for a damsel in distress role if she becomes anything major, although I do hope the events surrounding her won't just be a retread of what happened to Kiku in Wano's first act, cause that would be lame.

Between the Wano crew's initial reactions, and Robin asking about him to begin with, I wouldn't say there isn't a "shred of worry". The high confidence in him has been a running theme for years now. They have their own tasks, Raizou's taking care of it. If anything, I find it most interesting that Usopp's chill about it.

Not really.
I think you'd only really have a point if the fight didn't connect to other things. This is pretty much similar to Luffy kicking ass allowing him to meet Tama.
-
So Franky still needs to … eat? Isn't he like almost full robot now?
-

Oh yea, I do wonder how her and Robin will get along exactly.

Yea, Oda's been pretty consistent about that since Zou really. It's somewhat subtle, but noticeable nonetheless.
-
It was alright. Learned about they're being a such thing as something that is a mix between Geisha and prostitutes which is interesting for historical reasons. I also really liked seeing Sanji show that he still has some strength after how disgraceful he is mostly felt in part 2 of One Piece . It was good for to see him show a good showing of strength. But other than that, this chapter was actually nothing special at all.
I'm gonna hope Orochi's fruit is a SMILE so he's some Bizarre weirdo with dragon heads by strange body place
That would actually be a highly interesting idea. Kaido having the real dragon fruit, and Orochi having a smile of the dragon fruit which leads to what you said and therefore kind of fulfilling the legend of the Orochi by giving him multiple heads due to it
-
Law is likely involved in getting Luffy out of prison along with Raizou, gives the crew confidence.
also, if Queen isn't sending Appo or Drake he better save his man.

or they are overconfident due to Luffy's past history

Not really.

Don't need to have a point in order to feel like that.
In my opinion they are all acting too lightly for people who are supposed to act covertly. Should have just paid tribute to those guys. It's like they're not even trying.
As fun as seeing that kick was, things like these are slowly starting to raise a red flag for me.

I agree. And honestly I felt this chapter just went downhill after this great Sanji moment.

Sanji act stupid when food gets involve.
-
No surprise Orochi is a dragon, since "Orochi" is a dragon, but a SMILE hydra model? That is going to be hilariously interesting. Looking forward to it. Liking the plot development of our new subset of strawhats, and looks like they'll see some action soon! Hopefully, Sanji will get serious and have some clever plans, and Robin will do her spy stuff–maybe even show off some new Revolutionary Army skills.
That look from Sanji is the first thing to make me want to change my avatar since Ivankov/Dr. Frankenfurter.
-
Orochi is a eight-headed snake for crying out loud!

If anything, she was introduced by the complete opposite of a damsel in distress. I know Oda has a bad backlog concerning female character but let's hope he has reflected on his bad habbit. We enter new years resolution period…
-
#notmyKaku Also nice to see the Wano infiltrators mingling events revving up

Getting older and seeing experience through expectations glass much ?
-
Sanji act stupid when food gets involve.
He acted stupid before anyone touched the food.
And I can understand Franky going wild after things heated up.
What I don't get Usopp and Robin acting like extras. Just watching there, giving remarks as if there's no way this could backfire or ruin their plan. Yeah, Usopp wonders if that's ok. Didn't stop eating, though.
And boy did Robin become relaxed and easy going. I don't know, feel like they could have predicted this development with a little more information gathering. Oh well.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

Given their reaction faces from a couple chapters ago, I wouldn't say they're completely calm…I think they know there's just nothing they can do about it. He's on another island and they have their own work cut out for them before the big battle.
Also, call it being cocky if you want, but Luffy's earned their faith at this point. They've seen him get out of tougher situations than this.
-
Refeshing chapter for me. Glad Oda decided to focus on other Strawhats. Toko gives me the creeps for some reason. And Komurasaki might be Hiyori, IDK though. My head canon wants her to attempt assassination on Orochi.
3.5/5

I sense another Viola X Doflamingo between momonosuke's sister Komurasaki and shogun. As in what SBS confirmed.
I wonder if Kyoshyro is the match of sanji or robin this arc. Since they fit the most to fight the yakuza.
The heads of shogun look like this to me!
