Hawkins is going to join Luffy for sure. I imagine one scene where Kaidou destroys Luffy strawhat and Basil creates a new one for him with his power.
That would never happen, and a replacement from Basil would be pointless.

Sooo why were Luffy and zoro just ducking around that whole “fight”? Seems like they’re both stronger than Hawkins especially with how random his power is
They needed to treat Tama really quickly, plus Hawkins wouldn't have gone down easily and his power was definitely keeping Luffy and Zoro on their toes.
@uniaka:
I'm more curious to know if the straw straw fruit has any connection to luffy's straw hat or Im straw hat.
One idea I thought of is that Hawkins manages to obtain Luffy's hat and uses the Straw Straw Fruit to transform it into a monster that Luffy won't fight against for fear of damaging it. Would definitely make for an interesting scene.
Jinbei and Robin are back!

Well that was a fun exchange. I guess Hawkins explaining his abilities is better than an info box like we had during Reverie. Keeping it a secret from our protagonists isnt as fun when we the readers know what it's all about. So you can't put yourself in their shoes and struggle to make sense of what's going on. I'm with Oda's call here.
Zoro doesn't waste any time, though! Freaking love that.
Also love how Hawkins is staying serious even when messing up with those cards. Gotta believe in Heart of the Cards!
My grampa's deck doesn't have any useless cards… draws Friendly Fire
@Miss:
So why would anyone willingly be Hawkins' subordinate or follower or even crewmate? If the bulk of his whole power relies on using everyone around him as literal human shield fodder, who the hell would stick around? They'd have to be enslaved or forced under penalty of death to be his goons.
I'm looking forward to this fruit being explained a bit more, cause so far it remains one of the most random and baffling DF powers any of the Supernova have.
This plot line is interesting: Hawings is looking for an oportunity to betray Kaido (hinted in him not telling Kaido about these intruders). But by now the chances are unfavourable. Now he can choose who he creates a voodoo doll of and who he doesn't. So that meanwhile the right time comes, he creates voodoo dolls of the samurais who joined his team as part of he being recruited by Kaido to be in Wanoand uses them as cannon fodder, but he doesn't have voodoo dolls of the real fellows of his original crew. A bit streched but still possible…
No one's curious about Urashima ?? "Wano's strongest sumo wrestler"
I just hope he won't get one-shot by Luffy. I mean, Luffy is very strong now–- but "Wano's strongest sumo wrestler" can't just be introduced to be trashed right away

I also wonder how Hawkins makes his puppets.

I don't know what there is to be curious about unless you're super into sumo wrestlers or something.

""Wano's strongest sumo wrestler""
The only reason I'm hyped about this guy is because it's kinda confirmed now that Jimbe will show up in wano. Strongest wrestler vs karate jimbe, that looks just like jimbe. There is no way he is not jimbe's enemy this arc, even more if jimbe was in wano before and they even have past.

cause they fat??
I remember your first review 2012~2013 vagabond87
Oh you… Good memory you have there Kaizoku_Ou.
I am bit ashamed of those vids now lol but I guess and hope that I grown a bit as a person and that is reason why I am a bit, but still embaressed.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Hes cards were always there. Why wouldnt he have other ones?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Even if there are a number of reviewers, it doesn't mean anything.
Sure it does if content gets lost in the ocean of youtube content, I wanted to know what does it mean for him, that is why I asked.
cause they fat??
Not just that, but they also have similar hair style, similar cloths both from wano, similar fighting style. And he is also the strongest at it, so only one of the top allies of luffy should be able to take him on, like jimbe. And jimbe himself also looks and fights more like sumo then karate.
@Long:
Ehhh I just like to do it. Its also good for just getting used to speaking in front of a camera. I dont expect to get a ton of subscribers anyway but If I want to do another thing on YT its good experience since I tend to talk much more fluidly with others than by myself. When I get actual equipment I might make a secondary channel used for mostly analysis and maybe podcasting about the episodes with friends because Imo thats a lot more entertaining
Thanks for reply. I think your videos could get additional value if you for example post reaction video of your first reactions with a friend - both of you in same place or skype compilation etc. To be honest I am 31 and when I ask around if anyone is reading Manga One Piece then most of the time I get rised eyebrow reaction so I do not have anyone that I have direct contact with, that reads One Piece(maaaybeeee one friend but we rarely see each other).
All in all thanks for reply and keep going with it in new ways so it can grow.

Yeah the funny thing is just yesterday I was asking one of my co-workers ive been becoming friends with lately, if he watched anything to see if he there was any anime or stuff he could talk about and he said " No I dont really watch anything 4 second pause except one piece…for many years" and I was like "no way me too lol". Its a pretty big store but he's the 5th person there who watches it, although of the other 4, only 1 really works similar hours and I get along with.
I hear google hangouts is pretty good too. Can you record with skype or would I have to run an app to record the conversation as we talked it it through

Seems like it's jumping the gun quite a bit to assume Jinbe will fight him.
Good to know about Hawkins' DF and that it's not a mythical Zoan, although that had been my leading hypothesis up until this point. Does his own body become a straw demon, though, or was it always just a projection of his sword and he just hid behind it in Sabaody when Kizaru wasted him? If the latter, then there's no complaint about his fruit being too much of a cross between two categories (already seen that happen with Katakuri's fake Logia), otherwise that's a bit much.
Also how does it also encompass Tarot? I get the voodoo doll thing and the straw manipulation with the sword and the demon scarecrow deal, but also incorporating something that goes a step beyond the voodoo stuff is stretching things a bit too far, like Sugar's DF having so many different effects. Unless those are all effects of being 'awakened' or something…really want Luffy to undergo his awakening soon.
All in all, I was kind of surprised how low his bounty was for one of the seemingly most formidable of the worst generation, but given how he uses his ability and how entirely unreliable it is, I'm not actually all that surprised and frankly unsure why Kaido put him in charge of any region of a place like Wano, I'd have put him somewhere that didn't need that much attention. Like, "Dude, just lay off the cards and fight, idiot, you'll get pounded and lose all your extra lives before you draw a winning card or you'll draw one that backfires and lets the other guys get away."
""Wano's strongest sumo wrestler""
Strongest sumo wrestler and still comes off as a generic sumo wrestler character. Now if he were a sumo wrestling gorilla then we'd be getting somewhere.
News didn't reach wano so: Zoro still doesn't know sanji has bigger Bounty, it's still unknown that sanji is germa prince so he will still get '' who is that guy???'' in wano, supernovas don't know luffy is emperor now, or that jimbe is now Straw hat. And is that 19% with big mom, fujitora, kaidou on luffy at the same time? Because with kaidou alone then luffy would have big % to survive by the end of the month. And I guess the cursed sword also droped the %.

Well now that Zoro's on his way of getting all 3 generations of Kitetsu swords, his might go up a lot more.
Well now that Zoro's on his way of getting all 3 generations of Kitetsu swords, his might go up a lot more.
Question is though, assuming he ends up having more than three swords by the end of the arc, will he store one of the swords on the Sunny and just use three swords or somehow learn four swords style?
I wasn't initially interested in Urashima, but now I think I kinda realize where his plot is going and it has me interested in where the scenario around him is going rather than the character himself. I'm gonna go ahead and guess since he's already a little agitated at the end of the chapter that he's not going to take O-Kiku's polite rejection well, and this will lead to possibly him going to the Flower Capital and telling some higher-up about it? What that'll lead to I'm not sure but surely not good things.

9 sword style mate. That Asura demon wields 9 swords, and so will Zoro

Eh? Jinbei's bread and butter is the typical Karate choku-tsuki.

I'm also interested in Urashima and the potential to explore more mature aspects of power roles in Wano. I know Oda isn't the most forward-thinking when it comes to that kind of stuff, and he wasn't able to do anything with Doffy and Violet, but I'm sure he at least knows that only bad guys don't take no for an answer, and we've had several heavy themes in the New World that have been done pretty well.

Remember this super strong guy? :ninja:
Yes I do, and I hate hype tools.
Sabo destroying Bastille in a few seconds was fine, because we already knew Bastille. He wasn't created for the sole purpose of being a hype tool
But Luffy trashing Spartan was totally unnecessary. I'm not 10years old anymore, I don't get wowed at this. Especially when the hero is now a top tier
Anyway, maybe he won't even be agressive at first. I doubt that he knows who Luffy and Zoro are after all. He's just dicking around and hitting on O-Tsuru.
But I'd be very disappointed if the strongest sumo of Wano, and possibly the best in the world, was just a mere hype tool.
Hype tools usually get trashed as soon as they're introduced… let's wait for the next chapter. If Zoro or Luffy doesn't defeat him right away, then it means that there is something to look for with this guy
But the fact that he has 2 swords around his belt makes it look like Zoro will slash through his fat right away.
Why would a sumo carry swords ? I mean, I have no doubts that sumo wrestlers in real life couldn't defend themselves in a genuine battle without a sword, but this is a manga. He shouldn't need any weapon!

Remember this super strong guy? :ninja:
That one was just a strong gladiator, but not the strongest one.
The actual strongest gladiator took down one of Doflamingo's top executives who's the same rank as Zoro's opponent that arc all while missing a leg.
Of course, there's a chance that Urashima's just a hype tool, I mean, the stakes are higher and the hype tools should be stronger too, but I bet he isn't.
As of now, for me, Urashima is just a "self-hyped" strongest sumo wrestler.
He is definitely a hype tool. And his role it seems to be in disrupting tsuru in curing o-tama which in turn will lead luffy and Zoro to the main city to find a doctor.
For both tsuru and Tama.
Overall, a good chapter.
Orlumbus' face shows so much disappointment, it is great. I have a feeling we might have a bit more of his cover story to tell. Surprised even that we did not see a Straw Hat flag left behind.
19% is higher than what I anticipated. I wonder if this will be used as a countdown during the fight. Where Hawkins keeps seeing the percentage going down until it hits 0.01%, but never 0 again, like in the war. Each of Kaido's swing reduces the chances of survival by 1%.
I will hold on to my idea that Zoro will get a new sword forged instead of getting more of the Kitetsu series.
Hawkins ability Life Minus: At face value it seems very cruel. However, it could be that his subordinates are already "dead" or close to and Basil gives them another life, making the subordinates willing to serve under him. This could be done by implanting straws on each one.
The Tarot cards could have a straw implanted too, forcing the effects of the cards drawn.
If any of Kaido's men is with Hawkins, this might be the first time they are seeing his power to full effect, as this would be the first time Basil was challenged.
If Hawkins uses his power to enhance Luffy's, what sort of bad cards might he draw?
How many ninjas will we meet? Tsuru with her sneaky entrance and Okiku pretending to be too nice, when we know she is just going to be trouble.
Bepo!!! Things are getting spicy.

This honestly surprised me too
Does Hawkins prediction mean that Wano will last a month?
Which means that the Reverie would have ended already.
So at this point it's kinda confirmed that zoro will have to battle bald gorosei at some point for his shodai kitetsu. Unless oda was trolling for most of the manga and the guy just has some fake.

I personally hope that Oda doesn't want to give Zorro all three Kitetsu. That would be somewhat boring and i hope hat he aquires one of the 12 swords that has a special characteristic or something.

Zoro ain't discarding his Wado Ichimoji. It's for him what the Straw Hat is for Luffy.

Shodai Kitetsu is one of those 12 swords.
which I hope Orochi to hold it.
Yes I do, and I hate hype tools.
Yeah, hype tools are pretty stupid. I guess Bastille was fine, but it just confirmed the way too big of a gap between Admirals and Vice-Admirals. I didn't like it, but whatever. Truth is this yokozuna just struck me as another generic hype tool or just a way to take the plot to wherever Oda wants it too. Not as a super strong guy to be defeated 101 later down the line. I will wait and see, of course, but that was my view from the way he was introduced and his design. Not really much going on there beyond "sumo wrestler jackass".
That's a worry of mine. I wouldn't care in another country but if he is among the best of Wano he should be a powerful foe not a hype tool.
I also wonder how Hawkins makes his puppets.
I suppose, like for vodoo dolls, he needs something belonging to the person the puppet replaces. Otherwise it would be easy to make a puppet out of his enemies
Zoro ain't discarding his Wado Ichimoji. It's for him what the Straw Hat is for Luffy.
You say that but wait until luffy has the chance to wear one of the 12 Supreme Grade Hats.
The sword from kuina is likely the only sword he will keep. But I don't see why he can't replace the kitetsu ones, he got it from a shop. And this one he got it from luffy because he found it.
Yup I can see him replacing the Sandai Kitetsu.
Or he will leave, while very unlikely, Shusui behind for Wano
@Long:
You say that but wait until luffy has the chance to wear one of the 12 Supreme Grade Hats.
He already tried one: the afro from Davy Back Fight
Maybe he'll keep all the swords with him on the ships and switch em for different arcs? Or just give the old 1s to tashigi

Law originally estimated the chance of success was 30% lol and that was not counting the minks, Samurai and the grand fleet. I guess Bigmom's involvement + Apo and Hawkins joining Kaido lowered their chances. But 19% is still good enough for the strawhats.

It was their chance of success, not survival.
It's not the same
I wonder how much of that 19% involves the Straw Hats taking the option of running away.

The whole goal of law was to take down doffy and if by some miracle he survived then they'd face kaido. That 30% number of his was probably just pulled out of his ass.

Maybe his Asura form will be able to hold up to 9 different swords instead of just copies of the normal 3.
