Why the hell not lol?
Because Sandai Kitetsu is the lowest of the 3. If anyone is getting dropped, it will be Sandai.
If Zoro gets Nidal, that means he has 3 great grade swords. It's a remarkable feat.

Well the scene of Zoro cutting the samurai with the small Sepuku knife is really really great. But if Oda wants Zoro to preserve the lowlest of the three he has to provide an aditional story of one of the swords so that we understand why he's dropping other sword than the lowlest one, which is possible. For example: he finds the decendant of Riumma Who bravely figths the Shogun but is lacking on a good sword etc… So the options are pretty open by now.
Well, we still haven't seen 10 of the 12 Saijo O Wazamono Grade Swords so Zorro might get one here in Wano. It is probably the best place to get a new and top sword. Either here or by defeating someone who owns one.

I hope there is/was also a good bladesmith on Elbaf.
It's about time we see some of those (approx.) 80 other high-class weapons.
Amande's sword was also a high-class-sword, wasn't it?

Sounds like Oda-loyalism, but okay

So what is the confirmed one besides mihawk? Cavendish? I think cracker said something about his sword, could be one of the 12 too, and smoothie. And it seems there are blades in general too, like even WB's weapon is in that picture with swords.
And maybe BM's sword is one of the 12 too. My guess si that after sword from luffy, zoro will get 2 more swords, gorosei one and shiliew of the rain, since they seem to have katanas, and they are also villains.
Shilliew's blade rots of blood Zoro will not want it.

Tashgi mentioned the Shodai Kitetsu being one of the 12. It has yet to make an appearance.

IIRC Shodai Kitetsu was stated to be one of the 12 great swords (even though we didn't actually saw it).
Cracker's sword was said to be special but i couldn't tell what it's abilities were in the fight against Luffy besides being a sword like all the other. WB's bisento is definitely top grade.
Uh, napoleon being a named sword, with a soul inside would be neat.
I hope Tashigi gets at least one top 12 sword. Wouldn't it be awesome if her and Smoker arrived at Wano? They do have Vegapunk to deal with first. But I doubt we'll actually see that anyway.
Orochi having Shodai would make sense to me.
Had to take a few days to finish an assignment, so only just now getting my thoughts together on this chapter…
Colorspread is great, as usual. As someone who did English-saddle horseback riding as a kid/teenager, I really appreciated Robin's outfit. It's nice to see her pull of the "classy" look from time to time.
On to the chapter itself, I wasn't particularly surprised to see Luffy be so...straightforward about breaking the news of Ace's death to O-tama. He's never been the kind of person to beat around the bush about heavy subjects like that. Still, bluntness aside, I have full confidence that Luffy will ultimately take Ace's promise to her as his own - he already let Tama wear his hat, even if he was carrying her on his back at the time, so between that and rushing out so quickly to get her to a doctor, I'd say Luffy's already decided to make looking after her a priority. I'm not ready to say she's "Next Nakama" material yet, as she's too young in my mind (unless we're given a specific reason to disregard her age) and is still only aspiring to become a kunoichi, but if there's a late series time skip or epilogue, I could certainly see an older, more experienced Tama making an appearance. And, while unrelated, I am already internally shipping Momo/Tama, so I'm looking forward to the two of the meeting...
The fact that Hitetsu is a bladesmith and the descendant of the one who created the Kitetsu swords, to say nothing of having the Nidai Kitetsu in his possession, makes it especially clear to me that this arc will have some special meaning for Zoro. I don't necessarily think it will be a Zoro-focused arc per se - given it's sheer scale, I imagine there will be plenty for each crew member to deal with (a la Alabasta or Enies Lobby) - but between the renewed attention on famous swords, the apparent swordsmanship focus of Wano's Samurai, and the potential that the Marines may ultimately get involved as well (almost certainly bringing Smoker and Tashigi into the mix), I feel this is the first time in a long time to bring Zoro's identity as a swordsman to the forefront beyond his fighting style and a few one-liners.
I'm not really of the mind that he will simply opt to "upgrade" a sword or two out of a desire to better his equipment, as I don't view his connection to his weapons in that kind of way - I only really see Zoro replacing a sword if one of his current ones breaks or if he gives one away for plot reasons. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the situation led him to take up the Nidai at some point. Perhaps he will need to return Shuusui to the people of Wano (likely giving it to Momonosuke), or as a long shot and contingent on something happening to her Shigure, entrusting Tashigi with Wado Ichimonji as a sign of his acknowledgement of her as Kuina's spiritual successor. Regardless, I get the feeling we'll be getting a far bit of elaboration on the Meitou this arc.
The environmental devastation caused by Kaidou's factories is not particularly surprising - he's a guy hyper-focused on war with three "Calamities" as his commanders and has both purchased and used chemical weapons in the past, so having a "give me what I want even if you have to salt the earth" mentality isn't too far out there. Rather surprised that Wano's capital is the only place still prospering in any meaningful way though. I'd imagined Wano's Shogun was essentially ruling through force and fear, so I'd expected certain regions (those of his enemies) would be impoverished/desolate, but literally blighting the landscape makes me think his grip on power is more tenuous than I'd thought. I don't think the Strawhats will need to do much to find people willing to rebel.
Very interested to see how Hawkins, Apoo, and Drake will factor into this. I imagine the first two only joined Kaidou as a matter of survival given that he dropped in on top of their heads during the meeting with Kidd, so their loyalty can be assumed to be limited at best and I fully expect them to turn on him at some point - though whether they stick around to fight or merely book it when they see a chance to escape is an open question. But the latter sought Kaidou out specifically, which says to me that he had something planned from the start, so I expect Drake's more likely to be intimately involved in the big guy's downfall. Remains to be seen how Kidd and Killer fit in, though I wouldn't be surprised if they stuck around for revenge. Really like Hawkins's kirin mount, though...
And lastly, I imagine Luffy's apparent intention to use the Nidai Kitetsu on Hawkins is simply him being caught up in the "RuroKen" atmosphere and will go rather poorly for him, but it is nonetheless very nice to see him and Zoro meet up again. Wonder if we'll get an introduction to the woman Zoro saved once Hawkins is dealt with...

Why would we want more fodder in Wano? Right now Smoker and Tashigi are a non threat to all the SH AND their allies.
If we ever see them again, I would say we'll see them at Elbaf, since they might be taking the kids from PH to Elbaf.

I genuinely want this. Have we seen Smoker in Reverie?
(…)
Also to say the least - I LOVE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY FACTORIES all over Wano. Why ? Because Kidd will be able to form Gigantic Mecha with all of the metal that is around the island. This could be FANTASTIC visually.
I really like that idea. Cause this would turn Kaidou's factories against him.
Kidd also needs to celebrate with the SHs by the end of this arc, as he will (hopefully) perform a song with Brook.

No, I talked about those high-class weapons in general. I guess a viking-tribe/kingdom could bring forth a known bladesmith. The weapon(s) would be huge, anyway.
However, Waterfallbeard's sword tells a different story (as it was broken by Linlin).

There's more than just fighting skills to characters. They can be useful in many ways. It would make sense for Smoker "the rebel" to set foot on the island no navy men want to approach, and Wano must be the dream country for Tashigi the katana nerd.

No, and sadly I don't think he'll be there in time either. I'd love to, Smoker is the best marine to support Fujitora in his will to destroy the shichibukai system.

Thank You very much!! I would have dug deeper if I had that much time on my sleeves.. still looking forward to make more.
Luffy getting ready to draw a sword…this is going to be Arlong's teeth all over again. Unless the curse makes things even crazier. Hopefully it will recognize Zoro and acknowledge that III accepted him as its master and will follow suit. But I'm glad we're seemingly about to get more info on Hawkins' fruit ability. I really want to know if it's Paramecia or Mythical Zoan. Seems fitting if he's one of Kaido's minions since X Drake the other supernova Zoan is part of it too, and Kaido's obsessed with SMILE Zoans.
Luffy should have had no problem eating any of the animals since he's long since been immune to just about anything after all he's been through. Even Zoro, just by strength, only got a tummyache from eating them, so...I mean, it would save whatever little real food the people have for them, and Luffy would get to eat meat instead of just rice. Hell, if the girl had just mentioned the poison animals Luffy could have gone out and hunted one so she could have still had her birthday rice.
It would be very realistic if Oda choses to eliminate Kid in this arc to show just how tough are the Yonko. Luffy and Bege making it out of BM territory was just pure luck and non engagment by the BM pirates( ex Smoothie).
After all the hype and elevation of Yonko it would seem stupid if every time the “supernovas” manage to humiliate, defeat and escape alive.
I don't know, he introduced them as the worst generation, the ones that are going to take over. it could be anything. I wouldnt dislike that at the same time I liked kidd.

They are pirates. I don't see Zoro giving up his sword willingly. Heck if he didn't give it to Kin'mon and Momo after they commented on it, I don't think he will give it away for whatever reason.

Zoro is a pirate that values honor, kindness, and respect than the average pirate though. I think the Wano inhabitants could still coax him into giving them the sword if they pleaded enough to him for Ryuma's sake after his death.

Yeah, no chance.
I could see him offer a duel between swordsmen to anyone who would like to claim it for Wano, but that's it.
In any case I doubt Oda will make a big fuss about Zoro upgrading his swords, especially since the top swords don't seem to be much of a power-up in the hands of a haki master anyway.

Kinemon was pretty peeved about Zoro having Shusui and wanted it to be returned. Why wouldn't anyone else on Wano have the same impulse?

Kin'emon plans on challenging Zoro for the sword, not begging him to give it back.
I mean, Zoro won it from Ryuuma fair and square; do the people of Wano accept challenges awarding the winner with the loser's weapon? If so then all Zoro needs to do is find some way to prove that the reanimated, shadow-empowered zombie of Ryuuma fell to him.
Hm, this upcoming fight between Hawkins+his men against Luffy+Zoro seems a Little uneven from the first view, so I guess the curse of the swords might do sth crazy to handicap Luffy.
That or Luffy is gonna shout that he will defeat Kaidou, making Hawkins curious.

Even the good ones? Dorry's and Brogy's did not have a good care for a Long time I assume. They constantly fought for a Long period of time.

I could counter this fair and square stawman argument with "life isn't fair" or whatever, but I'm not gonna, because I don't care to get into arguments on here or anywhere else. I'm just gonna have fun, and so then, I leave it at that.
Hey, all. Sorry I haven't done these for the past couple weeks. Moving and internet pains. I'll try to get the ones I missed done when I can. In the meantime, here's this week's comparisons.

That's was Brook's personality and techniques in Ryuuma's dead body. I'm not sure that counts for anything.
About Ace's arrival in Wano, was it stated anywhere that he arrived before joining WB's crew?
After he was defeated by WB, Ace & his crew were integrated into Whitebeard pirates along with their ship probably … so it would be possible that they arrived at Wano while being under WB's flag, right?
I may be wrong as i don't remember everything regarding Ace's pirate past, but we can't see his back in Tama's memories so it is unclear at what point he arrived in Wano. Because the hat he gave to Oars Jr. was woven by himself while in Wano and considering the size neede to cover Oar's head, i pressume he knew Oars already before arriving in Amigasa village, thus beign under WB's flag. Thoughts?

I have a similar issue with this timeline. Either he already joined WB (why still being on the Spade-ship?) or he knew Oars III beforehand. Or he learnt how to make those hats on his first visit and on the Moby dick he wove a huge one for Oars III.

Thanks! Moving is always stressful.
I interpreted that one page this way:
Tengu said: you have to borrow Money, (but) if you happen to run into my allies, they give you Food and meds for free.
First it was a bit confusing for me, cause the "if you happento run into my allies"-bubble was in the big Panel with Luffy's new Outfit.
I have a similar issue with this timeline. Either he already joined WB (why still being on the Spade-ship?)
Well, we all saw each WB division commander using their own respective ships back at Marineford so i don't see any problem for Ace's crew to still be using the Spade-ship.

The 43 allied captains had their own ships (like Oars or Squardo). IIRC Marco and co were on the main Moby dick or on non-White Moby dicks. And at the start, Ace was "Held captive" on the Moby dick. IDK if they pulled the spade ship along with it, though.

Ah yes, you are right, my bad. But nevertheless, beign a division commander should grant you at least an independent ship for you to navigate the seas (like all BM;s top subordinates had). I find it very unlikely that all division commanders where bound to the Moby Dick all the time. Anyway, we can only make suppositions at this time in hopes that more info will surface in the future.

According to the novel, Ace burned the spade pirates ship after he officially disbanded the crew and joined WB.

Oh ok, didn't know. Then it is settled. The ship in Tama's memory is definitely the Spade ship so it means Ace arrived in Amigasa Village before joining WB. Do you happen to know where to read the Ace novel's? I couldn't find any site that has them. Thanks in advance.
