Chapter 910: Onwards to the Wano Country
-
My Gilligan's Island "Welcome to Wano" song from spoilers–
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip,
That started from Whole Cake Island, aboard this torn-up ship.
The cook was a horny kickin' man, the Captain lacked brain cells,
Six freakazoids set sail that day when the food arc went stale. The food arc went stale.
When the fat lady sang at last, the tiny ship took off,
With how much we wanted to get to Wano, the Reverie cut off. The Reverie cut off.
The ship's aground on the shore of this stereotype-crammed isle
With Swirly Brow, the Strawhat too. The furry boy and his sis,
The dead rock star, the fanservice girl and her cloud, here on Fake Japan Isle! -
I had a feeling Wano had crazy-ass weather to mirror Japan's typhoon seasons and sure enough, I was right. But a waterfall in the middle of the ocean and that naturally looks like an ukiyo-e painting. Only Oda, man.
-
SAMURAI BABOON! WE MUST BE IN WANO!
lol. I love Oda.
-
Does devil fruit power work in fresh water but not in the ocean? Trying to figure out why Luffy can stretch in the water.
-
The harsh tides blocking Wano makes perfect sense for why it has managed to be independent. Perfect for defending an invasion of the World Government, and I have to assume at some point they decided to invade or at least try to have Wano under their rule. Also plays into Japan.
I feel like this arc is the one that will be Oda's strongest. Playing with familiar ground and history, this is where I believe he'll shine the most.
-
Yeah, I severely underestimated how cool Oda would make Wano.
-
This is the first time the narrator has refered to Luffy as Straw Hat Luffy rather than Monkey D. Luffy, right? I haven't seen the nameplate like that before for Luffy.
-
Does devil fruit power work in fresh water but not in the ocean? Trying to figure out why Luffy can stretch in the water.
Water does not disable DF powers. It only saps the users of their energy when they’re submerged in waist high water.

What did I say? Linlin and Kaidou in the main article!
Luffy responding to his "re-introduction":
"Really?" -
Beautiful spreads for a good chapter.
What does "Wataame" on Chopper's T-shirt mean ?
-
Can’t wait for Kinemon explaining them the easy way
-
This chapter is classic One Piece style ADVENTURE. Been a while. It's like Reverse Mountain or Knock-up Stream.
-
I smell an adventure! Been a loooong time since the last time i've got this feeling
-
That damned octopus LOL
-
That octopus is my new best friend. Better nakama than Jinbe.
-
Next chapter starts with Luffy eating those poorly-grilled (unless Sanji is around) creatures.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
And Orlumbus sucks at being a classic pirate.

Ok, here the explanation of SBS 41:
D: Odacchi! Here's a question for you! Crocodile can't fight water because he's "sand," right? Then how does he bathe?! Does he at all?! That's filthy!! Do you bathe, Odacchi? by Crocodile's Mother
O: First of all, let's discuss the problem of Devil Fruit users bathing themselves. People who have eaten a Devil Fruit are "hated" by the sea, and cannot swim. The "sea" here can refer to anything from rivers, pools and baths to any kind of standing water. On a worldwide level, they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice. Now, in Crocodile's case, "water" is the weakness of his very powers, so his abilities are robbed even in the shower. But it's not like there are enemies around when you take a shower, so I'd bet he would take them even with his powers being blocked. Don't you think? –-And to answer your final question, about myself bathing. As it happens, I do bathe. Twice! In a year!
-
So Sanji again will be the reason Big Mom will be a threat. Because he cut the newspaper with Chopper
-
The Hokusai references are immense. Great chapter
-
I… didn't like it... at all. Which is strange, adventure chapters are my favourite. The visuals were nice but seemed off somehow. I kept thinking there were some pages missinh with the whole squid thing.
-
Beautiful spreads for a good chapter.
What does "Wataame" on Chopper's T-shirt mean ?
It means cotton candy.
-
Ok, here the explanation of SBS 41:
I just read that very serious and detailed answer from Oda to a dumb question. If I were Oda I would've been so tempted to just say "you dumb fuck" lol
-
Really awesome visuals, but I just wish for once we wouldn't separate the crew.
-

Gorgeous art! Very memorable island introduction. Oda referenced at least 3 classic Japanese paintings.

Agreed. Normally, Oda's island intro chapters are great, but this one (for an arc with years of buildup) seemed to fall flat. It was all over the place. And besides that, we have the SHs scattered again. Yay.
-
Seeing the octopus slowly sneak on board was just great.
Also everyone's been saying it, but the art, good lord Oda
-
That was fun. It's been a while since we've had a classic adventure chapter.
-
do you think zoro incident is the reason why they are not responding the phone ?
-
do you think zoro incident is the reason why they are not responding the phone ?
Hmm, but they shouldn't be all be preoccupied… I dunno.
-
do you think zoro incident is the reason why they are not responding the phone ?
Most likely. But we will see

Cotton Candy. ;)
-
Has anyone mentioned yet that the octopus looks very much like, um… well.. this guy over here having a snack?
-
Does devil fruit power work in fresh water but not in the ocean? Trying to figure out why Luffy can stretch in the water.
Devil Fruits still work in Water. The user is the one that becomes weakened.
For example back in Arlong Park, Luffy's neck had to be stretched out of the water for him to breathe. He was weak and couldn't swim or use his DF but it was still active. Also another example is that Chopper doesn't turn into a deer when he falls into the water.

Most likely. But we will see
Hmm, didn't Kinemon sort of insinuate that Wano didn;t have Den Den Mushi's because they didn't enslave the snails. Or am I misremembering the scene on green island.

What classic paintins? Can you pls provide links?
-

-
How did Luffy not sense the Octopus? I thought redon said a strong haki user appeared in this chapter.
-

But who is Luffy calling to? I understand not Zoro but Vivi and the old friends.
-

He was talking about the crab, it was a joke. So many people didn't get it…
-

Seems like it's Kinemon who would answer, based on the conversation.
-

Correct, he said Wano doesn't use them. But Franky was supposed to make some for them though.
-

I suppose some Hokusai art. The waves sure looks like his
-

They are talking about visiting the princesses and Kureha once they sail around the world, so I don't think so
-
Correct, he said Wano doesn't use them. But Franky was supposed to make some for them though.
yes maybe he doesn't know how to answer it like in this video with modern kids being shown 80's wired telephone
-
do you think zoro incident is the reason why they are not responding the phone ?
It could also just be that luffy didn't know how to use the phone properly
-
This arc is looking to be very stylistic, unlike any other arc. Sounds like a lot of fun, can't wait for the fresh art style in this arc.
-
What classic paintins? Can you pls provide links?
Miss Saturday linked one, definitely where the octopus is from.

I'm beginning to find Sanji's gag very boring.
-
I suppose some Hokusai art. The waves sure looks like his
You know which Hakusai art work that octopus is referring to, right?
"The Dream of Fisherman's Wife"

Beautiful spreads for a good chapter.
What does "Wataame" on Chopper's T-shirt mean ?
Just guessing but Wata could be the katakana for Water and Ame means rain. So water rain…? So random
