@TLC:
It's okay, the mom forgave Endeavour because he said he liked a flower. That makes everything A-okay!
DID she forgive him? She mainly just remarked that he's at least trying to face the issues.

Yeah, but the flower detail is like "I'm not a complete monster, please forgive me so I can die a hero".

She never forgave him at all. Otherwise, they wouldn't need to hide his face from her.
I think the flowers and the "visits" are just a sign of guilty.
It's a hint that Endevour is at least trying to do something and if executed badly could have some horrible implications.
But it's not that yet.
The way they worded it seemed like the mom was stating that the flowers show that he knows what he has done and he is responsible for it all. That said there is nothing he knows how to do to even try to make up for it, so he delivers them without seeing her. His proclamation at the rankings was his statement that he will change and become the person worthy of number 1 that people can look up to.
That said, I kind of think he won't get that chance, so we will see.
Endeavor death flags/ fall from grace everywhere.
I agree with those that say the mother hasn't really forgiven him. But apparently he his trying to make baby steps. Horikoshi does seem to be the sort of author that makes his characters take time in their personal relationships. This could either go to an interesting mini arc or it could backfire. But I think we don't really have to worry. Maybe he's reintroducing the wife (What is her name?) Back because the abuse is going to become known.
Deku/Bakugou isn't fully resolved but it's working itself in that way. The just haven't had much one on one since their last fight because of the story focusing on other characters. Deku is the ultimate fanboy so his admiration is probably meant to be seen as unhealthy. Bakugou kinda went from attack dog to just a loud one.
Look's like I was right about their relationship being positive at one point, it always seemed like a gradually getting worse as Endeavor's obsession greatens, sort of thing to me, not just a pack mule being bought and sold in truth or entirely, as was told by Todoroki.
Anyway, Todoroki's mom has always seemed calm and introspective, so her reaction here is fine.
If it's pure forgiveness, and not even a tiny bit of fear or hate when they meet, then there will be an issue.
I've always liked the idea of his warmth being a comforting point when they were in their starting years, and then as it went on becoming all consuming/melting and a point of fear, so I would love a panel play in specifically on his fire in reference to his trauma.
And as is known, and as people should have never worried about, Endeavor will be exposed for abuse and when that happens, I hope he backslides into some of his worse behavior (acting with indignation, rage, excuse responsibility), maybe not as a final resting point for him, but a slight relapse would feel realer.

DID she forgive him? She mainly just remarked that he's at least trying to face the issues.
People need to stop reading into this stuff, before it happens.
Mamaroki just stated facts and shined a light on the early years of their relationship.
There was no forgiveness in those panels.
Wait until they meet, to pass judgement.
That's what I figured
I want more scenes between Endeavor and Fuyumi (his daughter), I don't know why but I feel like they'd have an interesting dynamic.
I really hope Hori knows what he is doing with Endeavor, because it may end being pretty dissapointing, Todoroki smiling at Endeavor after the license exam extra classes was already a red flag, but not as much as this chapter. I want to see him live with the consequences of his past actions and accept that his family don´t have the obligation of forgive him just because he is a better person now.
He wasn't smiling at him.

Deku has outright stated tha he does not like Bakugou he's just not petty enough to ignore the fact that he's superior to him in every way but I guess to some people this is just beaten wife syndrome
Yeah, but the flower detail is like "I'm not a complete monster, please forgive me so I can die a hero".
Its evidence he has just decided to forget them on whatever new path he is going for.
Also great post on reddit about Mental Health and the possible routes of overcoming trauma
Agreed! While it might not work for everyone, forgiving your abuser/assaulter is a really common goal in trauma therapy, and its appropriately called "Forgiveness Therapy".
It's not to condone or excuse the things they did, but more as a way to rid yourself of negative emotions in an effort of lessening the trauma involved.
Really it's purpose is more for the victim/survivor's sake than anything else. It's like saying "Hey, I forgive you and by releasing those negative emotions tied to you, you now have no more power over me". And "I acknowledge you as a person who's done me wrong, but I can see you as a person despite this".Annecdotally speaking, I've had many discussions with friends and family regarding their trauma (I've found myself as a confidante many, many times), and the ones that had those negative emotions released, not surpressed, and/or had explicitly forgiven their abuser/assaulter were able to talk about their experience much easier. Even when I checked back in with them they weren't held back at all that I could tell. One of my best friends even forgave her sexual assaulter to his face! (She's a total badass). Meanwhile, my friends/family on the opposite side of forgiving either were stuck in a rut with therapy, used denial (and risked getting new relationships with the same type of people), or had negative coping mechanisms (like substance abuse).
In general our brains fixate on negative emotions more strongly than positive, largely as a way to keep us alive- fear makes us more primed for possible threats for instance. For most though, staying in a swirl of negative emotions or fixating on one is just really fucking unpleasant and just not good for overall happiness. Some good reading on Forgiveness Therapy if anyone wants it!
I was going to make the argument of forgiving the abuser for the abusee's sake, but didn't had any source besides experience.
Deku has outright stated tha he does not like Bakugou he's just not petty enough to ignore the fact that he's superior to him in every way but I guess to some people this is just beaten wife syndrome
When was that ?
Technically nothing wrong happened on this chapter, but I think we all have read enough manga to know where this is going.
Shouto's mama is clearly going the route of redeeming Endeavor by exposing his good side. She will not simply forgive him for the sake of surpassing her past and moving on, she is going to make us like him by showing he is not a bad guy and how much he actually suffered doing all that and he is the one still suffering the most because all the guilt.
I will be happily shocked if things are not going this way, but until then I will not refrain from relying on 30 years of experience reading questionable stories.

All that flower moment did, was be a way for Horikoshi to confirm what should have been expected in my opinion, that at one point they had a "normal" relationship and that Endeavor didn't simply "buy" her.
This arc is adding to Endeavor's humanization, which in part means exploring that backstory, including the courting period and then what got Rei to this point.
It also show's that she's on his mind.
I'll wait for more chapters to see how it's handled rather than nitpick everything.
People can be redeemed for their past actions, but depending on how bad the action was, it'll take a LOT of work to redeem one's self.
Karma is a bitch, as they say.
This chapter also leads credence to Dabi being the third notShoto Todoroki child (we only see two of them), which can lead to many things.
Dabi is older than this son that showed up this chapter. I'm pretty sure we would have had far more more tension if there was a mutilated son. Also blue fire? No way would Endeavour have let him go.
Do we know if Flamebeard is immune to fire?
Easily one of or Horikoshi's best volume cover in the series. And it's ironically the most casual one lol.

It would be interesting if Dabi's flames were somehow actually too much for Endeavor's liking, motivating him to find a lady with an ice Quirk for a balanced temperature Quirk.
Nobody seems to be interested in commenting action.. it was great!
Endeavor is fighting stronger Nuomu than All Might was fighting 1 vs 1 in finale of season 1..
Actually, I could barely make out what was happening in a bunch of this chapter's fight panels…
Yeah. It was a bit muddled in the middle because of all the black. Hawk's powers are neat. I like that his feathers can be controlled. I like that Endeavor can use his flames like a temp jet pack. I wondered if Shoto would learn that move but he probably can't get the power to die it cause he's lopsided. Is Bakugou the only one in the class with some aerial abilities? (I just noticed he's kinda similar to Genos now I want a picture of them together lol).
I'm kind of curious what Horikoshis has planned (if he does) for how this story is supposed to progress from this point. His arc to arc stuff never seems obvious to me.. Right now we're getting some features time with a Pro that doesn't feature the class or school other than one character being related . But like for this arc is it supposed to be short or is this just the beginning to something longer? I can't imagine the students going through another personal grudge arc. The intern stuff is on hold. 2 kids are still doing provisional licenses training. Which side note…Why is their extra stuff taking much longer? It seems kinda weird to me that the test was pretty quick. And for the 4 being featured we already knew what their issues were so they weren't told they passed after bonding with the little kids?
I just have so many questions lol.

Now that you mentioned that, it's kind of neat that both One Piece and My Hero Academia are currently away from the protagonist for multi-chapter arcs.
This week's episode was 10/10.
Great stuff.
I really, really liked this week episode, but the manga version is the one that keeps making me cry, don´t why though. The United States of Smash was great too, sometimes I don´t believe how much I like All Might.
Bones really is killing it. Top Animation for a top fight.
And man I can't describe how much I like AFO's theme. It suits him so well.
While the United States of SMASH itself wasn't as impactful, the leadup was way more emotive than I remember.
Godly episode.
My only issues were I wish the United States of Smash had more sound, which is the biggest nitpick.
United States of Smash a hole through my heart.
I have no idea how people can say that punch lacked any…Punch. It was flippin awesome!
But now this is done....We get dorm shenanigans!
WOO, DORM SHENANIGANS!
It will be cool to see their rooms in full color.
I also look forward to the feels when Tsuyu tearfully apologises to the rescue group.
Was it confirmed that they are going to get to that? Dorm Shenanigans is like the perfect place to start the next season instead of the swiming pool filler. How many episodes are left?

I figured they would. Aren't we only at the half way? I figured the last episode of the season would be Deku vs. Bakugou part 2. We're only 11 episodes in.

We are at 11, so I'd guess we could get up to that, and leave the whole Overhaul arc for season 4, starting that introducing Mirio and the others.
It would make more sense to have the upper classmen introduced to start the new season since the overhaul stuff was kinda long. Could maybe finish with the festival?
I full on cried about 4 times through that. Wonderful

I think the parent talks are before that but yeah I cant wait to see them add some fun material to what is already there

It was the same in the manga I dont know why endeavors part made me emotional. But when he said "show me how much better than me you are" I had tears, I dont know if anyone else cam relate to him despite his asshole behavior but its pretty sad. His entire life's goal is a failure which he won't admit and yet here he's screaming it to the person he greatly resents to motivate him to win.
Idk if anyone else was touched by this but horikoshi had brilliant writing in this entire fight.
Also Im glad the anime straighten out the whole two feints thing I had trouble with in the manga.
He was clashing and powered up his left arm while pretending to throw a right. Then he punched enough to stun him for a second as he bought time to switch into the UNITED STATES OF SMASH.
Also I forgot apparently All Might Chased after him with his guts spilling out of his side, Thats gotta be horrifying I wouldnt blame AFO for having nightmares / PTSD of that.

I came here cause I was reminded that maybe we'll get some extra home life shenanigans first. We only saw Midoriya's, Bakugou's and Jiro's? I think? We saw Endeavor losing it. But I think that was it.
Filler meeting with Mineta's parents. I give total support of them being waaaaay creepier than Mineta.

It would either be that or they think he's a perfect angel cause at home he's like bible study kid or something lol.
I dreamt that Bakugo was happy and normal while cooking, and the dorm finds excuses to get him to cook, even if he is terrible at it.

Aww. That's adorable. Lol.
I just learned today that a light novel clarified that Kirishima is the dragon Bakugou was riding in that alternate universe stuff. And that even if Horikoshi isn't intending to Kiribaku ship the people doing the merchandising and Smash sure seem to lol.
Is there a place still housing Smash btw? I never got to read all of them before batato got taken down.

Or they could be totally normal and super happy for having a way to get him out of the house.
Plot twist: they are actually really strict and proper.
So who would win - Endeavor or Overhaul ?
So who would win - Endeavor or Overhaul ?
Hmmm. Well they both can do ranged attacks. I assume Endeavour. Fire isn't easy to deal with and he seems to have a variety of ways of doing it. And Overhaul's seems dependent on whatever is around.
Endeavor wins for sure- he's not the top ranked hero for nothing. Dude is both more disciplined and more crafty than we give him credit for.
Hawks probably wins to due to sheer maneuverability, but Best Jeanist vs. Overhaul would be pretty interesting.
