Trying to figure out a pattern is just one of the things that every theory is based on, and saying that there aren't any is just wrong. It is always possible for the patterns to change or to be implemented in ways you'd not expect, but if you don't want people to consider them then you're just wishing for all the theories to be like: "me like dis it sure happen!".

Yeah, pretty much this. I do, however, hope to see what the politicians have to say in the upcoming chapter about this. Could be that they agree with Morgans’/the newspaper’s statement, or they could say that it is being blown out of proportion. Afterall, headlines are a big part of what sells a story. Not that I mean we necessarily can apply real life economixx to OP, but it can be considered as a legitimate factor as to why it would go as far as to call Luffy just that.

On another note: Luffy has the highest known bounty in the series now! This is a first, isn’t it?

sanji's goal has never been combat-focused..he is a cook first and foremost…him not wanting a raid suit is mainly about him hating the name vinsmokes and probably thinking those suits look ridicolous..but it's hardly "character development"..we are not talking about sanji kicking women here.
Zoro becoming stronger thanks to technology would of course be against his goal of being the best swordsman,but sanji doesn't really give a fuck about how he becomes strong..he just doesn't like germa and germa tech...but probably one day he's gonna be forced to use that..maybe not even in a direct combat but as a way to be faster ,maybe to reach someone in time or shit like that.

Actually, I could totally see a way in which Sanji uses the raidsuit in a really satisfying way! Similar to how we have seen Luffy powered up (e.g. hypnotized, Nightmare mode, wearing an afro).

Picture this, say 3 or so years from now: the Strawhats are in trouble. Nami and Robin are in big trouble. Sanji is trying to save them, alas the big baddy blast him with an attack that seemingly no normal human could have survived. The enemy is closing in on our maidens (actually, let’s throw in Carrot as well). Nami, Robin and Carrot are about to perish, and Sanji has been vanquish- pew! A laser comes out of nowhere! ”F-franky?!”
”No. It is I, mr Prince” Sanji says, wearing the raid suit, holding a cigarette.
”Just what do you think you are doing to my waifus?”

again, the presence of the suit in the story doesn't mean sanji is gonna stop improving and start relying completely on germa tech..this very chapter has sanji stating that he will never wear it, which in story terms means that he will wear it only that one time where it's absolutely necessary and never again.

basically it's just a planted plot device for later like the tamatebako and other things like that..there would be a moment where normal sanji is not enough despite all his efforts, and he will be forced to use that

it's not supposed to be an evolution of sanji's character, but it's not a destruction of it either since getting over his hate for his family once to protect people he cares about isn't against the character.

nor the presence of the suit undermines the accomplishments of sanji as a human…the raid suit is just a stat bonus ..the growth of sanji as a fighter will continue.

from what i understood,the dressrosa/prodence group didn't request marine protection (it was already stated some chapters ago, when riku and elizabello talk about going to the reverie) but the marines sent some anyway because there were pirates kidnapping royalties…coby's ship was the one sent to check on the dressrosa/prodence group.

Well, Blackbeard has been named as one of the Yonko officially since the time-skip. He also beat a former Yonko crew, has the strongest devil fruit, so I don't quite understand why you think he isn't ready for this.

There is an interesting parallel regarding this: When Blackbeard and Luffy first met in Mocktown , Blackbeard spoke of Luffy's impressive haki at a time when Luffy still didn't know that his new bounty at that time was 100 million. Luffy insisted that his bounty was a mere 30 million, while Blackbeard correctly deduced that Luffy's bounty must have been higher. Now we have a scene, where Blackbeard correctly determines that Luffy is still a step below a Yonkou, even though the news seem to suggest otherwise.

Teach always seems to have an accurate sense of Luffy's development and strength.

What a thing to wake up to on my birthday. Thank you, Oda (and scanlators who released it today ). I'm also not sold on Sanji's raid suit development but I will wait for the moment he actually uses it to make my judgement. For now, it just goes against the entire theme of Sanji's character arc in Totto Land, which was him disowning his own father and restating that Zeff is his real dad.

Everything else was gold. Morgans sounds like a real sensationalist, blowing Luffy's accomplishments out of proportion, haha. I too think Luffy is not quite an emperor yet, Teach. If he is being regarded as such right now, I can't wait to see what we have in store after Wano. We are truly headed to the final stretch of the series after it.

Lastly, this chapter got me even more hyped for the Reverie. I truly think it will be a monumental arc that changes the status quo in the series after all this time (along with Kaido's defeat).

Regarding Sanji's bounty, while I'm glad it's finally on Zoro's level and closer to Jinbe's, I would have prefered if that increase followed an arc where he did something really impressive to be viewed as such a threat by the WG. A show of strength like Zoro destroying Pica's statue for example.
Just being part of the failed assassination plot shouldn't have been enough. Otherwise, Nami should also have a similar increase (if not higher since she helped Luffy defeat Cracker and stole one of Big Mom's weapon).
I guess that his relationship with Germa66 must have played the biggest part in justifying that decision.
Hopefully, the next bounty (with a photo update) will have more to do with his combat ability.
Wano arc, please don't disappoint me on that regard. I've already lowered my expectations (from fighting a calamity 1vs1 -> fighting a calamity as a group -> fighting a calamity's lieutenant) to lessen my disappointment.

As for the raid suit, I expect it to be used by Sanji but more as a one time deal in a very specific situation and not as a permanent power-up.
IMO, I would like such situation to happen the next arc he meets his family.

Luffy's bounty reaching the billion tier is what I expected.
Being called the 5th emperor wasn't but I liked it. Even though I expect it to be more "official" after the Wano arc (although at that time he would be the 4th with Kaidou out of the picture).
I liked the panels of Barto and Cavendish revealing to the reporters about the Grand Fleet. Also, I smiled at the report of Luffy's intelligence and planning during those events.

Finally, I'm now really looking forward to Nami's next fight. With Zeus involved it could be really cool to see.

As much as I like Sanji's fighting style, it haven't carried him in the New World. Ever since he failed to destroy a steel door that Franky easily broke out, he've not accumulated any relevant victories and instead kept losing fights. The moment never came. If at beginning of *NW I saw him like a ninja who doesn't show off his strength unless absolutely neccesary, then at this point it's no longer same story, since he's been using DJ as his strongest technique left and right and never unleashed the hidden card I was hoping for. Unless he's been hiding his true strength all along he absolutely needs a powerup, otherwise he falls behind as a side character when it comes to battle.
For a record during Dressrosa arc I was hoping it'd be him to get mera mera DF for that reason. His performance haven't changed since, instead contrary to expectactions he didn't even get a proper fight on Cake Island Arc. He needs a powerup, more so since his bounty is now above Zoros. If not then he's just a joke as a fighter.

That interview is really old and most likely teased the team-up between Sir Crocodile and Luffy at Impel Down since nothing else afterwards came close to the statement. People just have been twisting the words and Zeus isn't really a full-fledged crew member.

What a great chapter!

Sanji getting the Raid Suit and the emphasis placed on it does seem like he'll use it at some point but I don't really think so. Maybe once but not for a permanent upgrade. Even the milky dials brought back from Skypiea have been useless to this very day, though this suit will be used in some way I'm sure of that. The way Franky and Usopp were associated with science during the same talking points gives me the idea that they will utilize it one way or another. Sure Sanji's DNA is most likely tied to the thing, something which resulted from the discoveries of Vegapunk and Judge but Franky has been shown more than capable of utilizing Vegapunk's tech and discoveries. Franky will figure it out starting with a strand of Sanji's hair and I bet both he and Usopp make permanent use of the gadgets within.

Either that or give it to Mr 1, Daz Bones. Finally get him his super hero outfit to really enact his dream. Not entirely joking either.

While I would have loved Sanji to get a full 1vs1 to get that bounty, had he did it with someone like Daifuku or Oven the bounty would probably well passed 300 million and thats probably no good just yet. I feel like what he has now is fully deserved but from things that go back as far as Saboady. It took every Straw Hat going all out to destroy one Pacifista pre-time skip. Now Luffy, Zoro and Sanji can basically one shot the original models and that was witnessed by Sentomaru. Looking forward to future fights and arguments between Zoro and Sanji.

Reverie hip hip hooray! I love seeing everyone on their way and reacting to the news. I still think there is a chance for Germa to show up. The only thing I wonder is how they are perceived in the news paper. They allied with Luffy to assassinate Big Mom from what I gather but to the government is that such a bad thing? Maybe Germa does make their way to Mariejois and they have to explain themselves? I don't know, don't really care why I just care about Judge and Vegapunk making contact again with the possibility of Caesar joining in for the hilarity. Vegapunk is in the news again so what better time to get him introduced in full than at the place where he is most likely stationed? Especially after several arcs containing people that knew him personally.

Crocodile is sitting there reading the news about a "5th Emperor" probably thinking "dang, I remember when that kid called himself the 8th War Lord straight to my face" lol.

Luffy's bounty sitting that high makes sense but I certainly wasn't sure about it getting to the Billion mark this soon. I suppose if the Commanders are around 1 Billion Luffy will still be the underdog going up against guys like Kaidou. Jimbei's 400+ million seems paltry in comparison and being so close to Luffy's 500 million was a little off putting but now its super non-issue.

Sanji - 330 Million
Zoro - 320 Million

Usopp - 200 Million
Robin - 130 Million
Franky - 94 Million
Brook - 83 Million
Nami - 66 Million
Chopper - 100

Also I guess now with Sanji's new bounty, Zoro has to step down from the monster trio. Seriously though the Monster Trio is Zoro, Sanji and Jimbei. Luffy is in a league all his own and has been that way for some time.

I want to see more pissing matches between Zoro and Sanji. If they are going to compete to keep the higher bounty for goodness sakes Oda let Chopper join in on the fun and surprise us all!

Not necessarily. They might have fought on the same side since that's how they ended up. From what we know so far, Law did something to cause the 100 pirates to fight against him, then he beat them and ripped their hearts out. All the while Koby was protecting the civilians from the fighting. It's more likely that it was the 100 pirates that were causing the trouble for the civilians rather than Law with his pre-ts power level.

Law was outright said to be the mastermind of the incident, so that he implies he caused it. Incidents tend to not be good things, and it was treated as something that gave Law infamy.

I am for sure not against a power up for Sanji... But not for the sake of destroying his character development even more.

What's next people would say is OK for certain characters? Zoro using a mecha sword made by Franky and some knight armour to protect himself against blade attacks... instead of you know... Focusing on his body and haki?

Did Zoro make his own swords? Did Luffy grow his devil fruit? Would a suit really be any different?
