Chapter 903: The Fifth Emperor
-
Oh my Goooooooooooooood!
-
Aaaaaaaaaaand that was quick!
-
No chapter next week btw
-
Oh damn, this should have been chapter 900, awesome.
-
Pretty great chapter.
Gonna repost this from the spoiler thread:
The fact that Sanji got a Raid suit, I don't like.
BUT
If we try to look at all angles as to why Oda made Sanji to receive one, I think he is trying to drive home the thought that Germa 66 has finally acknowledged Sanji as a strong enough fighter to have a Raid suit on his own. His brothers giving him a Raid suit pretty much means that they have gone from perceiving Sanji as a failure weakling to perceiving him as a fighter worthy enough to obtain a Raid suit.
All that's left is how Oda will make the inevitable scene of Sanji wearing his Raid suit to be an acceptable one. It has to be in a situation where it's not only threatening Sanji's lives, but his friends/crew too. A situation where he is willing to swallow his pride and use the technology given by the family he loathes so much for the sake of protecting something/someone. Me personally, I don't want his eventual suit-up scene to be a come back moment after receiving a beating any less than what Luffy got against Katakuri. He has to be pushed to his very limit on a very high stake even higher than just his life before he decides to use the Raid suit as a last resort. Only then would wearing a Raid suit be acceptable for Sanji. Let the Raid suit be Sanji's Snakeman moment.
-
The beginning with the interaction on the Sunny is already great. Oh, Oda, after WCI's ending and this, it seems that you're back to form!
-
Since when Koby's name starts with a K now?

@All:

Sadly, that one line that Luffy and Chopper can't open the canister makes me think it's like DNA-coded to open only for Sanji. :/
-
So… is he an emperor now? We gokou now?
Also RebeccaxCoby is surprise otp
-
Since when Koby's name starts with a K now?
it doesn't really matter for a japanese audience if it's kobi or cobi, both are written the same and sound the same so it's really up to the translator to decide how to write it..at least if we didn't already get an official romanization.
-
Now I'm insterested in knowing this Rocky Port incident that implies Coby and Law fought each other.
-
Holy moly this chapter. So much yes. So great. Still wish we'd made the wedding cake relevant though…
-
Causal Straw Hat interactions on the Sunny?
Crocodile?
Coby (and Helmeppo)?
Blackbeard and Shanks teases?
Luffy getting a status promotion to Emperor?AHHH SO GOOD
-
World reactions, Zeus, Sanji's suit, new bounties, Blackbeard and Shanks in the same chapter. I wasn't ready for this.
-
I guess Ryokugyu has to show up for the Reverie or Wano at least? Also the newspaper has that "Vegapunk" section that could probably be more interesting than anything else, and there was definitely Whitebeard/Weevil there too
-
On the page where coby is reading the newspaper, those 2 panels show the name Dr. Vegapunk and a warning sign for weevil. Does this mean we are going to see Vegapunk on Reverie or Wano? Damn you Oda for teasing us like that
-
What is that phrase/statement on Luffy's bounty poster? I can make out most of the first sentence. It says Evil is hear(here) like a. . . I can't make out the rest.
I like how Nami has Zeus in her staff now. Come out Zeus I choose you?:ninja: -
The chapter clarified a lot of things compared to the spoilers:
-
Sanji's raid suit: Apparently the thing can only be activated by him. Any hope this could actually work as someone else's power up went out of the window. Just like Sanji will be forced to accept his Vinsmoke name from now on, the raid will be used at some point he likes it or not. Or we like it or not… and I definitely don't.
-
Germa: The fact the brothers planned to give Sanji a suit mean somehow they recognize his value and accept him as part of the family. At the same time his bounty poster doesn't say "Only alive" anymore and we know it was Judge's work before that made it like that. I suppose we can conclude this is also a way of showing they respect he became a person on his own and is not a pawn of the family. Regardless of what Judge is thinking, though, the fact the bounty says "Dead or Alive" now means that somehow he was able to communicate with the WG so at least the possibility of him being a prisoner (or even dead) in Totto Land seems very unlikely.
-
BIG NEWS: The spoiler made it sound like Luffy was falsely credited with defeating Big Mom and that Sanji's new bounty was a result of him being wrongly credited as being the mind behind the assassination plan along with Luffy. That made both bounties feel undeserved, so I'm really happy to see it was not the case.
-
Sanji's bounty: Even though I can't figure out why the WG thought his participation in the plan was enough reason to see him as such a major threat compared to before, even though he didn't do anything remarkable, I am happy that Oda decided to make Sanji and Zoro bounties pretty much the same as we approach Wano. With lucky this means that he will finally go back to treat them as equals.
-
Luffy's bounty: In the end there was no fake "defeated Big Mom". Morgans didn't lied, he just perceived the things as meaning the SH were victorious in what they intended and Luffy's bounty reflects his actual achievements. Thank god!
-
More bounties: Based on what Carrot said, I guess we can expect Jinbe and Bege to actually get new bounties. Not sure what to expect about her, Nami, Chopper and Brook, though.
-
Gokou: Luffy is apparently already credited as an Emperor by the Government, he has a fleet of thousands and at the Reverie it will probably be revealed by the fishmen they are his territory. I can see Alabasta, Sakura and Dressrosa following their example, so I'm pretty sure by now the Reverie will end with Luffy being officialy considered as one of the Emperors of the Sea.
-
Coby: FINALLY I got excited with Coby! FINALLY!!! And, man, can you believe Tashigi has the same ranking as him? Shame on you, girl. Coby is looking fucking damn impressive, he clearly already surpassed his official ranking of a mere Captain. And Helmeppo confirmed having CoO as well.
-
Kaido and Teach: Even though we can't see where they are, they seem to be busy with their things so any theory of them attacking the Reverie lost some points from those panels. At the same time, I am particularly excited by the lack of the Revolutionaries in this chapter (their commanders are probably the thing I want to see the most in OP right now).
-
Linlin: Like I mentioned in the spoiler thread, she is completely mad and that is causing thunderstorms like we saw happening before. This was credited by Pound to her homies, so probably by this point she already has a "new Zeus". And she is extra mad at Luffy, I hope this justifies her not going after the SH associates (since the world thinks she suffered a defeat, this could make her look weak for aiming at Luffy's friends) and maybe also make her follow him to Wano.
-

Oda's intermediate chapters are always fantastic! I was waiting for Reverie to be an arc of this kind of chapter, and we already start in a great way!
Totally unexpected turns, loved every gag, such as Luffy misreading his bounty
Even with the chapter title, I bet no one expected this!Little side-note: there's a picture of Weevil in the newspaper Coby is reading, and it says Warning! Loving how Weevil is shaping to be a huge threat

.
I think they put him as leader of head of the alliance with the Germa, that's why he was mentioned together with Bege and Jimbe

Doesn't really matter, but it is written with a K on his ship's sail which is as official as it gets for now.

I mean could give the thing to Franky and Usopp to reverse engineer stuff.

-
Still lower than Pekoms :ninja:
-
Great stuff! I'm in the camp of hoping that Sogeking will attain the raid suit! Then he'll become the greatest of superheroes!

Actually, it's the same number of 330 million. Cavendish also has the same amount, as well, funnily enough.
-
What if Franky modifies the suit to be a ship coating?
-
Hey Crocodile, long time no see!

I don't get how you reach this conclusion.
Considering its reported Germa is an ally of Luffy, it could easily just be that Vinsmoke no longer get any special treatment especially when they nearly allied themselves with Big Mom.
-
GAHHHH can't wait till luffy fights kaidou!!!!!!!

Alternatively, the Germa Kingdom are on the WG's shitlist, if not outright outlawed, and any power or influence he has is now gone.
-
I need a spin off telling the Rocky Port Incident, lol.
Great chapter, obviously. I do love this new bounty way more than the ones they got after Dressrosa… if the media is selling Luffy as this new GIANT (and rightly so, despite the exaggerations/fake news), it's only appropriate that Luffy's bounty is such a monstrosity. And oh man, this huge bounty alongside the title of Fifth Yonkou is such a potential for new dynamics in the series. I really want to see how strangers will treat Luffy from now on. And I really don't care if the other Supernovas are eating Luffy's dust right now given the fact that Strawhat is competing a league above them to become Pirate King. We're in the Four Yonkou Saga. And it only makes sense that someone like Messi is leaps and bounds beyond people of his age when he was a rookie.
This chapter was all fun. The little moments at the beginning were awesome too.
-
GAHHHH can't wait till luffy fights kaidou!!!!!!!
And Luffy's gets his ass handed to him initially.

The newspaper affiliated to the WG portrays the Germa as the villains who fight against the Marines in their OP version of OP, I doubt the Germa were seen as WG friends before. They had their power and influence before despite that, I don't see how that would change now.

The best way I can describe it is under the table stuff. You know, them doing the dirty work that's never made official. After all, CP9 wasn't supposed to be known to the general public, either.
-
I'm going to try not to dislocate my shoulder from patting myself on the back so hard, but I called this perfectly one month ago:
[[/URL]HIDE]
Alright, this is a bit out there, but I think Luffy will have a bounty of $1,500,000,000.
He defeated 2 yonko commanders (one of which is over 1 billion), ruined BM's plans, destroyed a Yonko's main base, threw her entire territory into chaos by making her rampage, and seemingly got away scot free.
All the while, his minions have been causing trouble all throughout the new world under his flag, including claiming an island from another yonko.
Luffy looks like a serious contender for the title of yonko right now.

They were part of the World Government no matter what and didn't do anything against the government till now.
Considering that comic can also be propaganda to get people and kids to be with the marnies like some comics back in the day makes sense.
Judge even said they would revoke their right to attend the revivre, so I don't think Judge has any pull anymore specially since he "allied" with Luffy and again nearly did it with Big Mom.
-
Hahahahahaha
Lol. Morgan is my man!
Leading assassination, ordering sun pirate, fire tank, and even Germa! Has fleets of pirates including one with 5000 pirate, and a giant pirate. Able to "wreck" BM's castle, defeating two of her commander in the process and cause a chaos in WCI. Some are exaggeration, but it's no wonder he got that high bounty on him.
Everything going perfectly. Fifth emperor, more like strong candidate for the next Emperor, FI under the SH protection, unm yummy. -
Wow, Sanji getting a raid suit is a pretty big deal tbh
But anyways, JFC, 900+ chapters later, and our beloved protagonist now has feats and bounties high enough to convince Shanks that it will be time for them to finally meet soon. I'm estatic as hell right now.
-
Big News !!! scary how media can make lie become truth by playing with fact lmao. I agree with Blackbeard, it's too soon for Luffy to be called emperor. so, Carrot going to Wano ?!.
-
-
Is the captain with 5000 pirates usopp? If so another one of his lies has come true. These little things make oda great
-
ok, now this was an amazing chapter!
I love these transition chapters.
-
I always enjoy these chapters, it was a good one.

Orlumbus i think.

Since the grand fleet has over 5000 pirates, maybe they were actually talking about Luffy himself and the translation was a bit off. Something like "SH Luffy has seven powerful pirate crews serving under his flag… making him the great captain that commands a fleet of 5000 subordinates"
-
Yea they're referring to Orlumbus.
-
It's not Orlumbus, the Yonta Maria Fleet has 4300 pirates, not 5000. The total number of the SH Fleet is over 5000 and that's including the happo navy that has 1000 by itself.
-
They probably just rounded up Orlumbus' crew numbers.

Lol, oh yea.
Maybe he found 700 more… :ninja:

the 5th Emperor! And here I thought everyone would have arrived at Mariejois already, but they are still on their way. That means, next chapter will be more news reactions and probably a short timeskipfor everyone to arrive at the Reverie.
