I don't think this arc is over just yet. I just can't. I don't think Oda is letting the SH's leave Tottoland with Zeus and I definitely don't believe that Pudding's ending could be this sad.
I can't wait for next chapter to see what Oda does. Cuz I know there's gonna be some twist and turns left for our heroes. They're not outta the territory yet, but they are close tho.

Amazing Chapter…. I love every piece of it. I see Brulée differently now.. she's a cutie inside. Katakuri smile at the end.. same as Jiren's.. Just epic.

I think what BM destroyed was the aquarium/bar. Then she started sawing the kitchen, but Nami diverted her attention because Carrot was resting in the kitchen… I think.

I don't know why people hated this week spoilers so much. They were pretty much reliable hinting good scenes like the flashback and the cooks parallel, yet they didn't told about the narration which was a nice surprise.
The scene with Pudding was also great with the way it is made into a film rool. That's a really powerful vizualisation. It's too bad Oda couldn't draw the kiss scene.
900 and 902 were two great chapters, with powerfull narrative drawings, too bad there was 901 in between…

Did they? I remember them immediately encountering Pudding and then heading back with a missing Pekoms. Seems silly to also go grocery shopping during an undercover mission.
Found the chapter incredible, moody, and very sweeping on what it covered. 9.5 chapter to me.
I always find it interesting to see when certain users that were bitching up a storm don't comment on chapters like these.

The main theme of this arc is family and the different ways that we inhirit or reject our parents' teachings, so I'm pretty happy to see how much Sanji's pay off (accomphishing the duties of a chef) was also a reflection on his relationship with his adoptive father.
That's pretty good writing on a thematic level, even more when we consider that the visual theme of Totland is food.

Reverie, just like Zou, will probably be very good as it will likely be a small fully planned arc going straight to the point instead of wandering around too much. But Wano? I am seriously hoping the Beast Pirates will captivate me, otherwise I am fully expecting years of pain.

I loved the film roll page. Such a clever idea. I also really liked the Katakuri/Brulee bonding. I never expected to actually truly like Brulee but here we are.
One Piece arcs mostly have good endings and this one is no exception. No character holding off the Big Mom pirates will (probably) die because OP doesn't do that, but the sentiment is there (particularly for Jinbei and his crew).
Quick thoughts on the arc: best one post-timeskip, but not perfect, the Big Mom chase in particular dragged way past what it should've been. Big Mom's backstory is undoubtedly the highlight for me. Giving character depth back to Sanji was very nice, too.
So next time we see Big Mom she'll have an army of Katakuris, made using Germa cloning technique

I was seriously not all that enthused for Big Mom's crew, but now I like a witch-nosed character who age has not been kind to at all. I dunno, I'm not worried. Oda has shown he quite thoroughly explores the dynamics of villain crews. Though the Beast Pirates are going to be one of the least interesting parts of Wano, in my opinion.

But they will get some fights to show their might, so everyone will love them. However, people will get mixed feelings, because they'll lose to the likes of Sanji (that will become a good character again) and not correspond to the Yonkou hype.

I posted it above. The spoiler implied Jimbe and germa were captured and were in front of BM when given pg 17 actually it's possible they are not in front of her and they're now figthing. BM would be singing her line "life por death", not actually saying it to them. I know it's dire situacion for Jimbe. But still there is a small chance something happens and he escapes.
Great chapter. I loved the last panel with Sanji and Zeff. Sanji's kindness in giving food to anyone hungry was what made him initially likeable to me, but later I feel Oda made him much meaner and focused too much on his horniness.
The scene between Katakuri and Brulee was great, too. My liking of Katakuri has shifted multiple times, with me not really finding him interesting at all initially to loving him when he showed his goofy side to rolling my eyes over his honor during battle to quite liking his relationship with Brulee here again.
The Carrot and Sanji scene was also nice. I'm glad Oda didn't even slightly go for Sanji enjoying that in an inappropriate way.
Seems like Whole Cake Island is over with this chapter. Zou - Whole Cake Island is for me the best arc post-timeskip so far. It's up there with my favorites of pre-timeskip, too. That said, I feel it did drag a bit with the chase. I'm still very happy with this arc, especially coming off my least favorite arc of Dressrosa.

I don't really have any takes that haven't been previously expressed on the thread. The Kata/Brulee flashback was sweet and gave both characters a TON of depth (seriously Brulee has been great this arc!). I'm indifferent on Pudding; I know we saw a new scene that we had not previously, but we didn't learn anything new about Pudding from it (unlike the KataLee flashback).
The only unique hot take I CAN say is this: It was EXTREMELY interesting that Oda flashbacked to Baratie at this moment. Not because of the Zeff/Sanji parallel, no. But because both the Baratie and WCI arcs once again brings up the idea about this unbendable righteousness that's supposed to trick us into rooting for the "good guys". Last time Sanji stuck to feeding "anybody who wishes to eat", no matter what, it nearly cost him his Daddy, his restaurant, and even his own life. This time Sanji stuck to his guns, it is possibly costing his allies and his blood family their lives! Sometimes evil creates good, and letting someone starve as to prevent them from enacting violence upon you is acceptable.
I just find it interesting that once again Sanji's people are in danger specifically because of him and his inability to use discretion. Pudding showing Big Mom the true memory of the cake's creation is literally the only way left to fill the plothole of the Strawhat Crew not getting Seven'd from now until the end of the manga. If Oda's even that interested in filling it…
Not a fan of these singing chapters, the text is super confusing so I have to blend it out to understand the drawings. But I still enjoyed it.
Regarding Pudding, why so inconclusive? Would it really kill us to see a romantic kiss in One Piece. Also, seems like she only cut out the goodbye scene and not all of his memories. Why?
Katakuri smirking and Brulée saying "I knew it". I wonder how other readers understand this, but my initial reaction was "I kinda let him win / don´t mind losing".
I worry a bit that this is it, Totland is over. We won´t get to see what actually happens now that BM arrived, until much later.

Its not that Katakuri "let him win" hes happy at the news that Luffy escaped. He had an honorable man to man fight and gained adoration and respect for Luffy so hes glad that he got away.

When Brulee explained Katakuri to Luffy, even though she had seen Katakuri lie down and all, she kept it a secret and presented who Katakuri showed himself as to everyone.
They had each others backs, I really beautiful brother and sister bond.

I fully expect to be wrong but it would be interesting if her powers got messed up by the bliss of eating Sanji's cake.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to Sanji meeting Pudding and his family again in the future. Hopefully we won't have to wait until the epilogue.

No, Katakuri let him win. That was the meaning. All the people screaming that Luffy won is not truth. It was Katakuri decision to fall backward and let him escape. And i was right when others were saying the opposiite.
Lol no… Brulee is saying that Katakuri fell face first in defeat (so he lost either way) but then decided to flip around to his back just so that he wouldn't have to hold up to that illusion of perfection any longer. He had still lost regardless to being on his back or not.
The interaction between Big Mom's children really made this chapter. Something we haven't seen on the same level from past foes.
That is likely the reason oda keeps them around and will return as villains in another arc. Kaidou pirates are so boring oda plans to introduce and end them quick in wano.:ninja:
Well I'm satisfied with the arc. It was an actual escape, most of the BM Pirates are still hostile, and there are likely going to be some sacrifices that'll be revealed much later. I wasn't necessarily pulling for the latter but it makes sense to make the escape possible given the impossible situation.
The wrong way to post a thought about information that isn't directly written in One Piece: "Katakuri let him win. There is no other way to swing it." Acting like your view on something not written in the manga is the only possibility is just asking for flaming. If that's what you want, that's fine, just don't be surprised, because it's exactly what will happen.
The right way: I'll bet Pekoms with his little eyes lost one at most, only one swing was even seen against him. His future is uncertain– maybe he'll beg for forgiveness, maybe he'll be sent off-- but my bet is he'll be fine (minus a possible eye, years off life, etc) and maybe appear in a cover story or something like that.
A great ending to a very good arc that dragged in places. It tied up all the loose ends nicely. Now on to the Reverie and Wano.
I don't know…it seemed a little bit different to me. Sanji right out saying 'he's dead' felt a little more real to me than the other pseudo-deaths of One Piece.
The scene with Brûlee and Katakuri was my favourite, it came out of left field and was great, I like that Oda gave Brûlee a moment like that.

Wano is likely sopposed to be the massive climax of the New World and Oda has probably already planned it to be like Water 7/Enies Lobby in length. So he has from the beginning more latitude how long Wano is going to be, which should be beneficial for the end result. The problem with this arc is that Oda already made Dressrosa 100 chapters long and will likely make Wano even a bit longer, so we can assume that he wanted to avoid doing the same here, so WCI wouldn't get to long. Nevertheless, he has to seriously improve his ability to not get lost in various plot points (Big Mom chasing the Sunny for instance… :getlost: ).

It's a fair bar to set. Marineford brought in a huge influx of new readers. One Piece was at peak popularity during that time. Some people may have their quips with it, like apparently to some it has some pacing issues despite being 30 chapters, but as far as major shit going down in One Piece, that's still the bar to beat. It comes somewhat down to taste, so yeah that does make sense that you're not excited for Wano if you weren't a fan of Marineford.
