@Jazzy:
? Wapol saw Vivi with the Straw Hats. Keeping her connections to the Straw Hats a secret has been a consistent issue since Alabasta. Plus his triangular relationship with her and Dalton already exists. It was even at another Reverie!
Stelly being here is a Sabo (and by extension Revo) appearing red flag for me. I could definitely see Stelly being opposition regardless of that though.
He never connected the dots, assuming he even saw her which if i remember correctly never happened. Vivi was in the cabin until Luffy bazooked Wapol away, and in Drum, he never saw her there.
Yep, it has to happen at some point and the best point would be Reverie, no argument there. Just Stelly being an asshole does not have to be a big thing, a "absolute shitstorm" like you claimed.
-
What is the exactly wording about when Wano is supposed to start?
-
After Luffy passing out at Marineford, there were like 3 chapters without any Strawhat. Besides… this is just a story about hats being passed on to their next wielder xD
Stelly is our guide into more about Tenryubitos.
Wapol will have all his attention focused on Dalton.
Vivi would have to wait outside the building, just like the other time xd
Glad someone pointed that Shichibukai system is not a thread right now, an admiral is nothing but a bodyguard there.
King Cobra will defeat Katakuri... and also ask about the true story and Gorosei like "wtf? we're gotta kill you and your country with out CP's" then Neptune will defend him and war again, a lot of bullshit, the world will be engulfed in madness, Teach will laugh, and then all must wait for the Pirate King to stop everything... 10 yrs in our time.
-
If oda did refer to the reverie as an arc I think it being at least a volume is a guarantee
-
I think the Reverie will be somewhat similar to Ace's fight with Blackbeard. We'll see the pieces falling into place, and the motions made, but the outcomes will be offscreened and become relevant after Wano.
-
I'm think reverie will be like marineford, sort of. Kings meeting, kings that support luffy vs sabo's Brother that will represent the bad kings, germa will get in trouble, alabasta royals get in trouble , then fishman show up and get in trouble too. And then, when none expects revolutionaries show up. The a battle starts with kuma and his pacifistas also involved, but who will they side with. And not convinced about it, but someone coudl show up and get his 3rd fruit from dragon. Yes, I'm talking about buggy…not.
-
Blackbeard crash the reverie and kill several kings and nobles–->Dragon crash also the reverie and attacks Blackbeard and Mariejoa---> Luffy goes to the reverie to save VIVI
-
People keep wondering whether Luffy will be present in the Reverie or not, and question the structure of the Reverie as a whole.
While it might be difficult to figure out what the Reverie arc will be, we can still deduce what it won't be.It definitely won't be 2-3 chapters of exposition reminiscent of the usual post arc chapters in which some major events happen, especially with all of this build up.
It also won't be a B-plot to Luffy's A-plot where he joins Nekomamushi for the search of Marco, because if that was the case, Oda would've not phrased the way he did, as Reverie then Wano. And if Luffy participates in an arc that happens simultaneously alongside the Reverie, then the Reverie should be the main narrative. As for the possibility of it being a Luffy-less arc, some of the expectations here contradict Oda's statements, because if Oda plans the arc to be 10+ chapters then it'll more likely have Luffy than not, but even then, it doesn't make sense for Luffy to willingly go there, willingly being the keyword, since there's virtually no reason for him to want to do so. Maybe Stussy kidnaps Luffy, or something happens to Shirahoshi that makes Luffy actively want to interrupt the meeting, this is just me throwing some ideas though. I don't want to discard the chance that Oda just visits the Sunny every 2-3 chapters to showcase Strawhats' hijinks.
Additionally, I think it's safe to assume that the discussion regarding the abolition of the Shichibukai system will take place there, even if Fujitora doesn't attend the Reverie. Why? because Fujitora's intricate plan was to show the whole world the aftermath of a Shichibukai's rule, so that other kingdoms support the idea of removing that faulty system.
Last but not least, I would like to add my personal prediction regarding that anticipated arc. And it's that I think something bad will come out of it. And while it might be Blackbeard pulling something unexpected, I personally believe it will be the world government's turn to heighten the stakes a little bit, and leave Blackbeard's moment for another time. If I have to guess, it will be a new squad, let it be composed of some marines or CP, that will compensate for the future lack of Shichibukai.
-
Brainyz, I offered a reason for Luffy to go a few pages back.
Not that I want him to, but I like to look at the story from all angles.
-
You gotta look at the story and how the author works.
Not how you personally want it to go or if its a theory you like. Or its a theory you don't like.
(Personally, I'm really against Zoro not getting his fated fight against Mihawk after literal decades of buildup, but I accept that there's no way its happening with any real drama or stakes to it in the course of the actual narrative.)
I think its still just a little too soon for raising the stakes with Blackbeard properly yet. He's getting off camera victories against the revolutionaries and such, but he probably can't really re-enter the orbit of the main plot until after Kaidou, purely on the basis of escalating stakes. Some of his underlings maybe, like we had in Dresserossa.
-
I also don't want Shanks to die…
-
-
I want Shanks, Mihawk, and the entire Red Hair Pirates to get obliterated from existence. I want Oda to milk this tragedy for every penny it's worth. But we're probably getting a dead Shanks and everybody else being very beaten up.
And I see how the Reverie might be a good time for Blackbeard to establish himself as a world-renowned threat, but I still can't get on board with him showing up on a whim there without any foreshadowing. He's only been dealing with the Revolutionaries right now. Although maybe the Reverie will be what he decides to use with the weapons he might have stolen from them.
I agree with Robby though. We've only seen three post-timeskip Blackbeard members. I think we'll see at least a couple more before their commodore finally rears his ugly teeth.
-
Can we kill the Sabo
-
Can we kill the Sabo
Nope, but I feel like you know this, haha. I expect him to get in a very near death situation and be saved by Luffy, though.
-
Can we kill the Sabo
Sure. Then Stelly will eat the Mera Mera no Mi and become Luffy's true brother-in-arms.
-
- Has no direct correlation with the Reverie unless you think Kaidou would send people to Mariejoa to kidnap Shirashoshi, very unlikely
I don't even think Kaido would just send some of his minions to kidnap Shirahoshi… I think he'll do it by himself. If anyone does this, it must be Kaido. He is the strongest character in the series for now and was introduced doing things no-one else would dare to do (trying to kill himself because he finds this world to boring, trying do crash the Marineford War).
What better way to hype this guy and show what kind of one-man-army he is?
-
What better way to hype this guy and show what kind of one-man-army he is?
It's not Oda's MO.
To show us aspects of an upcoming villain during the transition.
The transition has (generally speaking) been dedicated to showcasing upcoming villains or themes/destinations from the arc after next.
It's an interesting idea though.
It would make the job of explaining their infiltration a great deal easier. Kaido is away and therefore they can get in more easily.
But that sets us up for knowing how things will end at Reverie before the end of Wano and I don't think Oda can possibly avoid leaving that on a cliff-hanger, especially when Wano is one of like the FEW places in the entire world that doesn't involve itself with foreign affairs.
-
Any chance we could get the reverie as a cover story?
-
Any chance we could get the reverie as a cover story?
Its been set up with too many characters and plot points to do one panel at a time with no dialogue. Not a chance. Heck, the cover stories have been setup for it for a while, showcasing Vivi, Dalton, Wapol, and now dwarves and giants going.
-
The Giants are going to the Reverie?
-
@Count:
The Giants are going to the Reverie?
Probably not. But the current cover story IS setting up like half the dresserossa crew going, and its onto giants now so they were on my mind.
-
Maybe you were thinking of Kano instead, with Don Sai and all. They are indeed going. The Giant Pirates, I doubt it.
-
Cavendish was his origin story (nothing about Hakuba)
Barto was messing with Shank's territory
Sai was about the impact of his marriage not going through, and that Kano is going to the reverie (how Kano has a pirate fleet and is a WG member is a mistery)
What's his name (Long arm and long leg dudes) was about.. racial tensions of the long limb tibes? IDK. I'll read it again soon.
Leo was about getting prepared to be Riku's bodyguards at the reverie
Hardjuin (sp?) is about introducing the giant pirates, as they are like 5 of them total, and we know 2, and from Big Mom's flashbacks, we might know a few more.
And Orlombus, who is such a blank slate that is just a mistery.
We might get a freebie with Belamie, he is not part of the fleet but got a member card. -
how Kano has a pirate fleet and is a WG member is a mistery
I figured it was a case of them being classified pirates years ago, given the WG's tendency to label anyone not sailing with their express permission a pirate, and then eventually joining up and having the pirate status revoked. You would imagine they'd make freezing bounties part of the negotiations when they joined, but the legacy of their pirate days lives on, even after they have WG permission to journey the seas.
That's all headcanon and conjecture based on the context we do have, but it feels like the most reasonable solution to me, and it's what I'm gonna believe until something contrary comes up.
-
Greg I know that you are a busy man, but can we expect more live streams from you?
.What do you think, when and how will big mom pirates hear about katas defeat?
I suspect that oven will ask brulee to get him back and boiling boy will hear the truth then. After tea party for me middle seems predictable, but I can't figure out how this arc will end.
Even though gemra is here, they are still outnumbered. Their fleet is under threat from smoothie.
Ps. This is not really important , but what do you think. Will kata steal some techniques from luffy?
For example combining snakeman style and donut attacks seem quite deadly. -
Hi Fanboy!
This post
http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=43241&p=3872827&viewfull=1#post3872827Pretty much sums up what I've presented as my own speculation in the past few weeks.
Until further notice I'm not going to comment on anything beyond that but I don't mind clarifying previous posts/points.
As for livestreams, I just did one! Or, are you perhaps referring to that? If so, yes, now that I have a nice chunk of time and can actually talk, I'll try to get back in the routine.

This might be a bit of a random question, but are English Translations considered when Oda names characters and places in One Piece? I'm specifically wondering about stuff like, say, 'Elbaf", which is widely considered to just be the English word "Fable" spelled backwards. Is it called "Elbaf" phonetically in Japanese based on the English wording? Is it some version of the Japanese language equivalent to "Fable" spelled or pronounced backwards so the reference was translated? Or is it something different entirely?
Just a thought that popped into my head today at work.

Chinjao was a pirate Sai isn't. The leader decide what to dowith the crew. Chinjao liked piracy and treasures Sai liked serving and protecting his country.

Elbaf is written in katakana (エルバフ), which is the Japanese lettering system for spelling foreign words and so phonetically is Erubafu. There's no confirmation (I think) that Oda based it off of fable but when the phonetics support that spelling then it's pretty much the obvious choice. Viz's "Elbaph" is technically not wrong since it's pronounced the same, but most people are gonna prefer the spelling with connotations.

So greg now that the chapter is out did the namedrop of pedro being the only person who can stop pekoms in su long mode, change your odds in any significant way. It looks like he didnt transform all the way but considering oda doesnt just hype something up in the immediate future and shelf it usually. I can see a situation if he is out of control for pedro to reappear. IMO having pedro just show up seemingly unharmed is my worst fear. But how much could he do unless he was mostly fine. So I have no idea how the events match up especially if they are at Cacao and not WCI where he blew up
-
Clever you picked up on that LJSR.
While this didn't sway me one way or the other it offered more reasons for both sides of the argument.
He dead:
1. They attack Pekoms' eye(s) which gives him the chance of being another one-eyed stand-in for Pedro, thematically speaking and Oda is a sucker for that.2. If both Pekoms' eyes are gone then there's no need for Pedro to 'call back' Pekoms.
He not dead:
1. The whole 'only his voice' argument. If this is as far WCI goes then it presents another opportunity for an emotional reunion in the future. We know that the mink are going to play a role in rampaging later on and mentioning that bit about Pedro does a few things for Oda (and he might not have chosen which of these yet)
- It shows us Pekoms' dedication to give up his life.
- It puts limits on Pekoms' power b/c even though he's a badass lion that SHOULD be able to wreak havoc (so long as he can fully transform) he's totally a berserker. This allows him to be god-tier Sulong since he can do as much hurt as help.
- It tells us that Pedro could make a return by stopping Pekoms' rampage.
So yeah, still stuck in the middle. It's pretty fabulous.
-

If Pedro pulls an Igaram to arrive at Wano, it would be flawless, then he joins the Strawhats as crewmember but it's killed by Aokiji coming from Teach's raid because looks kewl… then more drama for One Piece, a crewmember dead.
That.. would be awesome.

I want to see Pekom’s full turtle form in both su long and normal form (if Zoan su long is a thing for minks).
Correct me if I’m wrong, but up till this point we have seen few Zoan users who can change just one (or few) limbs into animal parts. We have seen Marco do this during the war and Pekoms displayed it on FI. This gives me the impression he should be quite a competent Zoan user. So, go transformed mink ninja turtle!
-
Awakened Zoan Sulong Pekoms would be awesome but I unfortunately doubt he has Awakening.
-
Would Sulong Awakened Pekoms teach Luffy how to take away an enemy's devil fruit power?

Just a status update.
Some big Sanji promotions going on over at the official site so my column is going on a mini-break.
My next column (#99) is scheduled for release on the 21st of this month and column #100 (which we're supposed to be doing something special for) will be released next month.

Correct, #99 has a few thoughts about Kata x Lu that I can expand on here.

Cool to finally have a firm date for the release, but now I'm very curious about the Sanji based stuff coming to the website. Not that I can understand any of it, but is it because of what has happened or what's to come?

Anime-related.
B/C of the wedding etc. Just for future reference, I wouldn't mention it if it was related to upcoming manga developments. -
Right.
Pretty clear where we're heading now.I commend and applaud Oda. I didn't think he had it in him.
THIS will be interesting.
And I'm pretty sure why he offered the two-year estimate. I'll bet anything, this time last year, he was mulling over whether to wrap things up here and now, or later on.
-
900 seems like a natural endpoint for this arc, but I guess he could have ended it much sooner or could still continue stretching out the time until Wano. Personally, I can hardly wait to see how it turns out!
-
Isn’t the anime nearing its 20th anniversary?
-
Greg! I need your next installment of super op!! D: it feels like its been ages
