I'm pretty sure that's just a gag about her feeling Sanji's passion while he's dancing

Great theory on the last panel of the latest chap
Luffy gets hit by an arrow. We know that the sniper from the previous chapter tries to shoot him with a crossbow:https://image.prntscr.com/image/GrCQAbs5TbuDKQsv9mtStg.png Then in these panels:https://image.prntscr.com/image/4pz4G35oQvmR6_dCF5LMDw.png Luffy gets hits, and looks at his leg. We can see he is surprised due to the fact that there's no arrow there. This means that Luffy starts mixing up what's actually happening and what he's predicting with his haki. Therefore, the next part where he gets hit is probably a prediction too, which he would hopefully avoid next chapter. * Taken from reddit. -
@Kaido:
IMO the banal repetition mostly works in the battle's favor - once Luffy finds a way to subdue Katakuri, and if the final blow is nearly as creative as the one against Cracker, it'll be pretty cathartic. That wasn't the case for Cracker since Oda skipped Luffy finding a way to eat the biscuits and stall Cracker out - if he chose to skip Luffy going through the process of improving his Haki and returned to the battle once Luffy was already on the verge, that'd pretty much detract from everything the battle was leading up to. There's definitely still room for improvement in terms of Oda writing longer battles, and that scene on Nuts Island was still hella unnecessary, but I like where this is leading.
Also, I don't really see why the last two pages being a future sight fakeout would be so bad - it would be a great way to demonstrate Luffy hitting that milestone, and I'd highly doubt that it would result in Katakuri eating dirt right here and now. The problem with Aizen and his fakeouts was that he kept using a ton of different methods to avoid death, many of which were nonsensical. Luffy just has future sight, and I would hope that Oda wouldn't do more fakeouts if the last few pages are indeed one, because there'd be little point given that we already know what Luffy has to rely on in order to triumph over Katakuri.
I honestly don't know what Oda would have to do to make you say "Bullshit!" :ninja:
Personally, I hate one sided fights. And this one has been mostly one sided from the start. Oda opted to make Luffy suddenly develop better Observation while getting more and more injured and fatigued. When a fight in a manga goes like that it usually means it's going to be decided with one big attack instead of gradually catching up to the opponent and overpowering him. That's hella boring. And even if Luffy wins, he's a damsel in distress right after that. That big attack better be something awesome and visually impressive.
The future fake out would be bad because there's no hint given that Luffy is seeing the future. It's like Hitsugaya being cut in half by Harribel and bleeding, only to reveal it was an ice mirror, or Byakuya being stabbed and bleeding only for him to reveal that Zommari just stabbed his coat. You know, shit like that.
I'd be more open to believe Luffy was seeing future if the last couple of panels weren't interrupted by Katakuri's introspect and that bitch sister's smiling. (Lost the will to keep track of all the sibling names.)

I'll call bullshit if he draws Dalton taking a dump :ninja:
I obviously can't predict the future and make predictions based on future events, but I hope that once Luffy does achieve future sight he'll be able to fight evenly with Katakuri before eventually winning. So yeah, if the final blow comes more suddenly after Luffy just gets beaten around prior to that I might be inclined to agree with you about the fight overall.

The Hitsugaya clone was BS because we hadn't ever seen Hitsugaya make an ice clone before, and Byakuya's coat getting stabbed would be more equivalent to if Katakuri's thrust actually happened but only pierced the side of Luffy's vest. We know that Luffy is trying to advance his Haki, and we've seen instances of him improving, so him foreseeing Katakuri piercing his side would be a culmination rather than something popping in from nowhere.
Though I do admit, I'm not very confident in the attack actually being a vision either, since I'm not sure what purpose Flampe's bullet would have served.
-
It isnt really a one sided fight. the first fight was luffy figuring out his weakness and launching an impressive counter attack, the 2nd round is luffy solely focusing on dodging his attack and using the obv haki to its peak in a extreme situation to make his haki bloom. Haki litearly means spirit so it working like that makes sense.
Isn't it?
Apart from short burst during G4, Katakuri is almost untouched.
How would you describe a one sided fight?

If that's true, it's a pretty cheap way of creating suspense, not unlike something Kubo would do.
And considering we get Katakuri introspect in between, doesn't seem very likely.
Btw, is anyone else getting tired of Luffy vs Katakuri? The fight had a nice momentum but then Oda started taking his sweet time with it, and now it's pretty boring. I can only hope Katakuri doesn't fall to some form of nakama powerup.
There is still 3 hours to fill. Even if it is skipped, oda has to explain how Luffy can lasts such a long time given the state he is now

Okay, rip. Luffy is dead. Who's gonna be next main character?

Okay, rip. Luffy is dead. Who's gonna be next main character?
Well, zoro always had big fanbase and I'm sure some even wanted him to replace luffy as main character. And with his sense of direction, he may even get lost and end up on raftel and they won't even need all 4 road poneglyphs.
-
Did we forget the 'Law was killed by Doflamingo' fake-out? Oda is not above occasional 'cheap' suspense.

As I see it, he gets surprised seeing his leg was pierced (Huh!?), then in the next panel he looks up and sees Katakuri preparing for an attack (Huh??).

This would be a cheapness on a whole other level.

Doesn't have to mean Luffy's fight will last as long.
Who knows, though. Maybe knocking Katakuri on his back would be enough to buy a couple of hours until he recovers from shock or something.
-
So reallistically, how long until we see the climax actually start? For now we'll probably stuck on Luffy/Katakuri for a while (I doubt it's a final phase though), then we have to see Bege/cake failing, some more chase of Sunny and only then things maye start to converge again. So, 10 more chapters? Giving room to possible more climax preparation like Pudding having to scan Streussen or something.

Sanji as a cook could just eart Luffys heart and inherit his powers and become next captain.

How so? Katakuri has confirmed that Luffy's observation Haki is catching up and Luffy has stated that he wants to upgrade himself in this fight so it's not too surprising that he'd have gotten a good hold of it now and this will be the first time we'll see it in effect. I wouldn't think it's cheap if it's a set-up for the upgrade.
On the other hand, "protagonist's friend is so dead now…..1 week later....not dead" is the most overdone cheap suspense.
Then again, there's a chance that Luffy really got pierced.

Because in between "supposed visions" we have Katakuri thinking to himself and Flambe laughing. A rather weird way to show Luffy seeing the future compared to what happened with Mihawk or earlier in the arc with Katakuri seeing Pudding fall on her knees.

Law wasn't dead even for one chapter. Didn't it end with Law talking to Luffy, or was that split?
-
@K.:

He was dead for more than a chapter. 779 ends with Doffy declaring him dead, 780 ends with Luffy reaching Law. At the end of the chapter Luffy knows the truth, but we do not (Luffy has a flashback to 1 second ago hearing Law say something which makes it so much cheaper).
-

Law was out for the next chapter too. However Dofla implied he was still alive.
That shooting was still a cheap tool, though. Law was mostly beaten. Instead of using his STRING devil fruit to tie him with STRINGS, Dofla shot him 3 times just to make readers worried for a week.

I think we're talking about different incidents, from what you're saying, it looks like you're talking about first time Law was shot by Dofla, we mean the second time (much, much cheaper one… which is an achievement).

Thanks for the reminder, I did remember that being split, but it was such a short time, I thought it had happened on the same chapter. I did take the line in 779 with the possibility that Mango hadn't killed him yet but was going to do so either in front of Luffy or before he got there.
-

Yeah, remembered that one in the meantime. I remember I didn't really consider it much of a cliffhanger since it looked like Doflamingo was talking to still living Law whom he intends to kill by the time Luffy arrives.
-
If that wound is legit how will luffy look from now on with his new hole? This is not just some scar, a good piece of him is … gone. Not like when law pierced doflamingo with his injection and he somehow fixed it, it's way bigger. It would be hard and look wierd to even draw it from now on in everything.

If you follow the body line from Luffy's left leg, it doesn't look like that big of a hole. More likely some skin and tissue shaved off from Luffy's oblique. He was shown trying to move before the hit.
Well, if it were any closer to the center of the body, we'd definitely know it's just a vision.
-
Luffy ain't the only one getting a ship modeled after him. It would be hilarious if each Straw Hat got a ship like that.
I like that Capone confirms that the ship is in bad shape. It will definitely be used for when the Straw Hats get together. I can't wait to see the reactions.
Well now that Sanji is done baking the cake, he better get his ass inside the kitchen and start making a meat cake for Luffy. Maybe then I will be impressed. He has three hours, so he should be able to accomplish it before getting to Cacao Island. Ever since I saw the cake being the same as the previous one, it made me feel that Big Mom's cake is just an appetizer to what he has in store for Luffy. I do see Sanji apologizing to everyone by the end of the arc. I would be happily surprised if Luffy tells him that they will talk with Zoro once they are together. I want to see Luffy's response to what happened and the progression as a captain he has had since the incident with Ussop. Although seeing Jimbe give him some lip after Sanji's big talk in Fishman Island would make me go tereshishishi.
@Kaido King of the Beasts: Sanji used observation haki in Punk Hazard while in Nami's body. I think that helped her awaken her own haki. I think Nami would be an observation user. So as much as I think it is a gag. I hope she is actually progressing to attaining haki.
Love Perospero's dilemma. I can see a fleet from Liqueur Island intercepting Capone, and them having to turn towards Cacao island anyways. Uuu, Jimbe vs Smoothie would be nice. As I said, Sanji has to get back to kitchen where he belongs. Capone just keeps getting awesome. Is whenever he says "this" accentuated that's funny. Sanji does seem to have a plan. Let's see what he has to say and what Jimbe will call the plan.
How the story seems to be building up, the scenario I had in mind earlier during the arc seems to be what the story is going for. Them being in Cacao Island and with Oven announcing what is going on, will the Nox pirates keep a mirror?
I really hope that what we saw wasn't a vision. I can see Luffy dodging vitals though. So it probably tore through his muscles.
Fan Fic idea 1: I hope Luffy punches Katakuri so hard he breaks the mirror dimension. Everyone just sees Katakuri foaming from his mouth.
-

Idk, looks pretty big, close to his X, and a piece of his chest is gone? his nipple is gone, at least?. -

Huh, why would they
-
Seeing how everyone in Tottoland knows about the Straw Hats, even civilians know about the Katakuri fight. If a list of accomplices have been divulged, they would know Pedro is helping the Straw Hats.
Just stretching possible scenarios. Like Katakuri will be the one to come out of the mirror where Oven is at, but he'll drop, while Luffy escapes through this other mirror.
-
A vision is totally possible, but I also think this wound can be ignored the same way Cracker cut through Luffy's arm to the bone during heir fight. Katakuri's attack is just off-center enough for Oda to ignore and heal Luffy with a bandage, as unrealistic as that is.
-

Katakuri could be the one to come out of the mirror, except it could be a transformed Luffy.
Not sure how Luffy could beat up Katakuri, get rid of the other mooks and make Brulee transform him and lie to Owen and the others, but I'm not the one making a living out of this manga. Counting on you, Oda!
I'd rather it was something like that than an undiscovered mirror. Would be a total cop out after Owen being so adamant on breaking every damn mirror. It would be extra wedding cake ingredients all over again.

The center of his scar is within the center his chest and does not go past his nipples. A whole close to the center oh his chest is a big chunk of his chest.

That's why the Nox pirates would be sneaky, given that minks cannot be detected by COO, I think it could be built up to it better than ingredients was, I agree with you there.
Your scenario would be really cool too. Because Flampe and Brulee admire Katakuri so much, they don't want anyone to know, so they help Luffy escape, they make Katakuri into Luffy and viceversa.
-
What Nox pirates? There hasn't any been any mention of any of them outside of Pedro and Pekoms since that wolf mink at the start of the arc.

I had completely forgotten about that. That scene was so cheap that the volume it's contained in is always priced half off! With that in mind, I can definitely see this being his first full future sight. It would make sense that we the readers experience it with him…
-
-
Looking forward to Sanji's plan! Please Jimbei throw your 2 cents in and give it a name! We've already had one missed opportunity this arc! Hopefully next chapter(or any chapter) we don't hear about it so it will have a near 100% chance of a successful execution.
Also not worried about Sanji not attacking any of team Smoothie. So long as he blocks their advances/attacks that should suffice. He put legs up to both Kalifa and Big Mom, he'll do it again. I wonder if Brook is immune to Smoothie's fruit? Would be nice to see Jimbei have issues with his water because of her but Brook is able to at least jump in and save him. Not sure the logistics behind something like that but I still want to see it.
So Chopper's out for 3 more hours right? Man, I want to see one more major blow to somebody hopefully not done using Monster Point. If not that then please helping Big Mom medically with her vicious cravings. Preferably both.
-
@S.C.:
What Nox pirates? There hasn't any been any mention of any of them outside of Pedro and Pekoms since that wolf mink at the start of the arc.
They have been mentioned with the wolf mink. During Pedro revealin his defeat to the crew. During Pedro's fight with Tamago the consequenceand we learned abut the origin of their name. We can't exclude Pedro as he was the captain. I would say they have been mentioned plenty.
Not to mention that after mot seeing Pedro for so long, Pedro 'died'after coming again. If the Nox pirates are smart and can read in between the lines, it wouldn't be a surprise if they appear as allies. Not to mebtion that they would might all be able to do Sulong. There's quite a bit that can be done with them.
-
I didn't noticed the arrow shot at the leg… thanks guys, you enforce me to think that this chapter was one of the worst of the arc... even a break is better than this. What the hell Oda? Rebecca dodging the attacks of the whole colosseum proves that she has better Kenbunshoku than Luffy.
I just hope... just hope... Luffy will teach the skill to Usopp. A Sniper is the most suited person in the OPverse to check the future.
-
If the last part of the chapter is actually Luffy's vision of the future, then that would mean Luffy has surpassed Katakuri's future sight with being able to see two steps ahead in the future: being shot by Flambe and then being thrusted by Katakuri's trident.
-
I feel like Oda is well aware of the meme that is Smoothie. Why else would he introduce her so many times in the same arc? :ninja:
-
my prediction is that the last panel is a Kenbunshoku Haki and just a premonition of the future and luffy has matched katakuri's Kenbunshoku Haki level…
-
looks more like a dart (luffy is immune to bullets but not to anything with a pointy enough head) that has some kind of substance that slowed him down..he is seeing trembling after the shot.
Yeah. It was some sort of dart. Even if it was Kairoseki bullets, it would just be lodged in him rather than go through him similar to the fight with Zephry. I also think the dart was coated with something. In the panel showing Luffy hit by Kata's spear, Luffy's right leg is wobbling. Thats probably why Flambe is laughing.
-
I, for one, can’t really tell if it is a hole from the trident, or if it is just the ”impact” being drawn.
-
I, for one, can’t really tell if it is a hole from the trident, or if it is just the ”impact” being drawn.
Mogura is spinning like a grinder and Luffy just touching it with his body ended with Luffy getting burned and slightly grazed.
Last panel is showing burning effect imo. -

wait , so now Luffy's CoC is stronger than a renowned-for-CoC yonkou commander in just one day? Damn asspull plot (why the need for timeskip if Luffy could improve that fast)
-

i don't think that's how it works. Future-vision is not dependant on the number of steps you see but on the time-frame. If Kata can see 10 seconds into the future and Luffy can now see 5 seconds then it's possible that his future-vision is weaker than Kata's and still be able to see two events.
-
I find it interesting that Luffy didn't read the shot on his leg in spite of honing his CoO to the point. Points out that there is some other weakness for CoO that got taken advantage of there. Either way his "precognition" is different from Katakuri's who can see more than just future intent of his opponents.
p.s. also that Luffys body is somehow this fragile and just disintegrates from katakuri's blow. That's such a far cry from obtaining sufficient durability to fight yonkous.
