but its brook and chopper, both got destroyed by pero not too long ago, why brook speed didn't help him against pero?

if he wanted them to shine then oda should've made them look better before this...

brook and chopper are too weak to do anything against a yonko and that's a fact, their performance here make BM look bad more than it make them look good...

BM already proved herself in her regular form. She is clearly weakened and distracted by cake.

My problem with the chapter is why didn't Big Mom take Nami, Chopper and Brooks soul? The only people who are immune to it are Luffy and Jinbei since they aint afraid of her. This is just the same Bullshit as Law not using his personality transfer power on Doffy.

I like the idea that BM was conscious all this time. She still isn't in an I'll eat people alive frenzy yet,

Nami, Brook(especially Brook) and Chopper do not have an advantage over her Devil Fruit power though. Remember BM can literally take your soul from you if you are even the least bit afraid of her. All the SH except Jinbei were terrified when BM got on the ship.

So why didn't she just take their souls?

My biggest gripe is why isn't BM using her soul-soul powers to incapacitate the other SH. So far only Jinbei has an immunity to it.

The SH should not have survived that confrontation.

don't underestimate the future pirate king's crew. where did you see the crew scared? in between Jimbei stopping her sword with haki and physically punching back, chopper defending, Brooke wanting to see her panties, slashing zeus and nami zapping her when were they scared? They were only concerned for sunny in the beginning!

People are forgetting Jimbei was a shicibukai (on the same level of people like Mihawk (and remember Mihawk vs Shanks), Doffy, Kuma etc. Pretty sure these guys won't just wilt over to a yonkuo like a lot of people are expecting poor old jumbo to do!).

If she didn't fight them, you'll see a lot of readers complaining that the only things she did were chasing the SH and screaming 'wedding cake'. Oda took the difficult path here. And Big Mom taking some attacks doesn't make her a joke. If anything, it shows how tenacious and durable she is. As I said before, the SHs only bought some time, they DIDN'T defeat her.

Look, I think Big Mom is pathetic as a Yonko. She seems below admiral level as far as a leader goes but I will play devil's advocate for her.

In BMs defense, Capone planned part of this for ages meticulously. So it isn't really like she is falling apart out of nowhere. The half crew of SH just happens to side really well with Capones mission.

Also, BM relies on Zeus as a trademark of her fighting style. Imagine Zoro without a sword or Sanji without legs to fight. Big Mom without Zeus is unusual for her and she probably hasn't had to deal with that much so she is learning quickly.

Her starving is also probably weakening her. Luffy was super starved and his fighting was weakened by a lot. Her desire for cake gives her strength right now.

Trying to catch the Strawhats right now is like playing catching slippery soap because they are quite strong, remember Kuma propped the entire crew on thriller bark for being strong outside of just the captain which is unusual for a crew. Very few crews where everyone has a bounty.

Big Mom being too slow to see Brooke's attack maybe she wasn't too slow but she was protecting herself and not Zeus.
And Big Mom not hurting Chopper with that hit. She was maybe just going to grab Nami not hit her and ended up grabbing Chopper fur. It isn't a hit and def not using haki.
And Jimbe sending Big Mom up a bit. Well, she weighs less than she is used to. She hasn't weighed that little in years so she can easily lose balance if she isn't used to her new body.

Using DBZ logic BM only can fall vs goku in SSJ4 with spirit bomb. There hasn't been a 1v1 scenario like the one you want since Enies Lobby. Would you say that in Whitebeards crew Vista, Blamenco etc cannot hold one of the yonkou working together? same with Shanks crew? Yasopp, Lucky roo etc? not the top dogs in the crew but more than likely still able to hold their own with one of the yonkou. What about Blackbeards crew? Only blackbeard can hold it vs big mom?

again you are annoyed becase chopper, nami and brook stood up to big mom and stalled her. They didn't defeat her and likely will not. But stalling her from destroying the ship? is that unreasonable for the future Pirate King's crew? I would say at this stage that is the minimum required!

Brook and Chopper were taken down by Perospero while fighting waves of different enemies, now they have just one. Also Guard Point would be of no help against that one Perospero attack. And Brook IS faster than the monster trio (according to Oda at least).

Anyway, looking for consistency of power levels in OP has always been a bad idea, but you're going way overboard with it.

I don't know why people are complaining. Big Mom being starved clearly made her weaker. If she was in her fat form, Jinbei wouldn't be able to send her flying even with his fishman karate ultimate technique. People should give some thoughts to the chapter before saying anything.

Yeah, Krillin got beaten by enemy defeated by Puar and Upa, Yajirobe sliced off Vegeta's tail, Krillin was th first one to do some noticeable damage to Freeza, Tenshinhan held off Cell for a while… good skill + some surprise could work even in DB.

at the time I was in another forum and definitely there were that kind of discussion, for some people luffy's punch should have not be able to make garp fly away, even if took with all defenses lowered and on purpose.

same thing went when luffy managed to stall mihawk for a bit, it was either bullshit or mihawk wasn't serious and was letting him go… despite clearly stating his intent to go serious just a little before that

edit: talking about chapters.. why is Zeus scared? he can just fly away at any time, he reached the group at sea from cacao Island that way

It didn't look like it really hurt her any; just knocked her over and caused her to pause momentarily. She obviously looks scorched, but otherwise unharmed. For anyone who knows Japanese, can you clarify if her words on the final page are her speaking normally, just barking commands, or if it's meant to represent her speaking in ragged gasps/exhaustion?

I am one of those with mixed feelings here. I mean, this was a very exciting chapter (particularly Jinbe, I was always one of those defending he is much stronger than people give him credit, but damn!), amazing panels, but at the same part I am worried about how Linlin was depicted.
Even though I agree the SH had the type advantage and most of all Linlin was not injured (the last panel she seems to be more than "charred", though. But I suppose she was hit by her own power in Zeus, so we can give it a pass… maybe) and is definitely amazing to see Nami and Brook shine as much as they can, I can't ignore the feeling that Linlin looked bad this time.
Jinbe managed to come back from a direct hit of her with no apparent damage (also he seemed... I don't know, bored as he was blocking her? It didn't seemed like he was worried) and the SH just outwitted her to a point it seemed they were handling a rookie. I wish Oda had mentioned the fact she getting drenched in seawater weakened her (at least made her unable to defend herself), he could also bring out the fact her starvation is diminishing her powers.
Well, I hope this gets balanced out and we can see her completely subjugating this group before the cake arrives, this way I can feel 100% ok with this chapter.

Btw, Jinbe is a monster! I don't care if his "strongest attack didn't damage her". Nothing is supposed to damage her. The fact he managed to throw her away after tanking her hit is an amazing feat in itself.

Also, I was under the impression Linlin's defensive power could be some sort of iron skin, but if Fishman Karate can't harm her (and it targets the inner organs), then her defense goes deeper than that.

That was some Oars level teamwork. Jinbei definitely going to make the M3 the M4 in the future. I think Linlin will probably start wrecking everything (poor Germa 66 might end up being hype-tools again) in future chapters so the cake being delivered is a big dramatic save.

Big Mom has shown amazing durability but not so much in terms of attack. I want to see why she's a Yonko… of course we saw her strength in the flashback but I want Big Mom to seriously fuck shit up on a mass level. Maybe because she thinks the cake is on the Sunny and that's why she hasn't just broken the ship into pieces, because she's more than capable of that. Getting a bit tired of BM yelling "wedding cake", getting knocked back but then continuing her pursuit. It's been like this for like 10 chapters now.

Luffy is about to stomp a marco level opponent and has already stomped a jozu level one. Sanji and carrot are beating the shit of the lower level leaders.

I am happy for jinbe. Without zeus he has real opportunity to defeat prometheus and throw big mom in the water.
However because of all damage ship has taken we might see smoothie and her fleet catching up to the Straw Hats.

Jinbe vs smoothie incoming. Jinbe has a lot of juice in his belly so it's a good match up for him.

I’m okay with the Strawhats pushing back Big Mom, but my problem is that she’s now riding on the extremely water weak Prometheus. It’s impossible to take her as a threat when all they have to do now is have Jinbei throw some water at her and have her fall into the Ocean. This chase only works when Big Mom is undefeatable, giving her a huge weakpoint like that sours the whole thing.

–Jinbei has enough power to not only semi-tank a direct blade attack, but also physically force a Yonkou back (albeit a severely weakened one, but still); the crew definitely needed another powerhouse, and I am SO glad he's on the team
--Chopper was useful! I could've sworn he had forgotten how to do that
--You know shit got real once Zeus abandoned Derp-face mode. He actually got angry(!!!)
--Nami using Substitution no Jutsu against Zeus was freakin' hilarious! I completely missed that Brooke tanked the attack for her during my first read-through.
--The Revenge of the Nami scene at the end was GOLD! Zeus thought Big Mom was the only one who could pull off a convincing "Stay, or Life?", but he's gonna learn today!
--Brooke continues his MVP streak by having the presence of mind to pick up Zeus while he was out on the sea
--Both Brooke and Nami showed why they're as valuable members as Jinbei is in a fight--they arguably did more damage to Big Mom, by using their brains just as Jinbei used his brawn
--Franky's gonna be PISSED!
--This is actually an acceptable time to cut back to/finish up Luffy vs. Katakuri. So I expect a shift next chapter.
