So that there's still somewhere else to go once Jiren becomes old news after all the Saiyans get a grip on ultra instinct mode.
Can anyone explain to me why certain universes are exempt from this tournament???
In-universe: they are good universes with higher levels of mortality and growth. Real reason: future content for the series to explore.
I'm really not confident about properly exploring anything, though. Just like we didn't really explore anything from the other universes until now.
We'll get that chance after this arc is over and all the universes have been fused into one Mega-universe and thus they can't erase it.
With the possibility of a
! U7 person getting knocked out I assume it'll be Piccolo because reasons. But I forgot the Androids are still running around. Hopefully it's 17 lol
! It will be Gohan, because of course it will be Gohan.
! It will be Gohan, because of course it will be Gohan.
I can't picture that since he's been hyped to be important and he hasn't done much yet.
Piccolo will be elimimated next.
piccolo's arms will get blasted off again and one will fly off and count as him getting eliminated
Piccolo is actually the one character I don't see much character potential outside of just giving him some time to show off his techniques and just having a proper fight.
I feel like Z did everything that it possibly could with him character-wise.
With as much bs nonsense power ups the Saiyans get Nameks could easily be given ones too.
Ooooh boy, this episode's gonna get people riled up. Most of the fandom is real pissed off, i'm telling you. Reaaaly pissed off.

Why?
! It was stated that the Universe 6 Potara increase the fused person's power level tens of times over their separate power levels, and it's kind of dumb to still be mad about the Saiyan girls' insane power boosts by this point anyway.
! It also makes perfect sense that another Saiyan would have the best chance of re-awakening Ultra Instinct in Goku.

I was about to make the same arguments. I’m just enjoying the ride at this ponit.
It was fine. At this point I'm done with the reaction because it's repetitive and doesn't have much substance.
Goten and Trunks did the same thing, but as kids, without knowing and mastered SSJ3 when it took Goku a very long time.
Caulifla and Kale are simply using the same logic, but they are naturally much more powerful. It's not that hard to grasp.
Most people don't word the criticism for Kefla and Caulifla and Kale as for being for their characters, most of them are angry/hate them because they're so powerful because they "shit on the other characters' achievements", which.is even more obnoxious because people aren't and never were as outraged towards Goten and Trunks. Most people find goten and Trunks just okay, as opposed to loathing them and being really disgusting about it.
Ep 115: That was the weakest in a while for me. Got some Cell saga flashbacks with the animation because of how (badly) Kefla was drawn. The action wasn't all that interesting outside of a few good shots, but at least the plot stuff was adressed: Fusion is allowed now (which only makes sense considering what was allowed previously), Goku definitely wasn't full power when fighting Kefla, they say multiple times that Kefla is only this strong because of fusion (but we know people won't be happy with that)
I like Ultra Instinct because it's possible to show what it is even with very limited animation. I think the leadup to it coming back could've been stronger. Yeah, okay episode.
Oh and I feel like 18 might be the one going out because of her scenes this episode, but I hope not (or that she at least gets a cool moment).
Solid episode, not as good as the last one. Kelfa going down next week I reckon.
Power levels are so ridiculously inconsistent in this show that it's not worth worrying about.

They're always pissed though…

That's all of DB in a nutshell. From Goku drinking magical water in og DB to him getting a random new form in form of SSJ3 out of nowhere in the Buu Saga to Super's SSJ Blue.
Hell, for other power ups, Blue Kaioken and Ultra Instinct actually make sense and are based on stuff Goku has learned about prior to them happening. He trained with Whis specifically to achieve Ultra Instinct and he knew Kaioken already.
I mean the good old "he just trained" does fit SSJ3 and Blue, too, but they're the least impactful forms to me because of that. He just kinda got them.
Why is Beerus so notably upset about Goku going UI again? He scared?
He's just taken aback.
The discussion for this episode really is an headache. The episode states like four times that Goku is not at his full power and draining all of his energy because of Blue and Kaioken.
They do everything to limit Kefla and she's a freakin' fusion which is supposed to be OP. At this point, what do people want? Why do people nitpick this specifically so intensely?
Because they're girls of course, and an inordinate amount of the fan base is angry man children/Bernie bros/what have you.
Huh, I really thought it would be Vegito or Gogeta taking down Kefla and we wouldn't see Ultra Instinct again until the final showdown with Jiren, but we're getting UI now, which begs the question of what it'll take to down Jiren…maybe I just got it backwards lol.
Have to admit I kinda really want to see this 17/18 fusion now.
I do think Beerus is legitimately nervous about Goku surpassing him.
Power levels were the stupidest mistake Toriyama put in his series.
I'd be okay with Android 35 but I'd rather see them go out all crazy with the earrings and give us Pikkon.
Although they didn't state it in this episode, wasn't it shown in the BOG arc that SSG heals Goku? So it wouldn't be too far fetched to say that using the form allowed him to recover a lot faster.
Im just annoyed Goku STILL has stamina.
That's what truly bugs me, personally, too. He has to be down and out cold after this.
Even if he gets to recover within most of the remaining time of the tournament, he'd at least have to get energy from others to do anything signficant again.
Oh, another thing, the preview for 116 looks really good. Can't wait for that action-wise.
I'd be okay with Android 35 but I'd rather see them go out all crazy with the earrings and give us Pikkon.
We need a real curve ball here
Give us…Vegiccolo
What would 35's gender be?

When gold Freiza attacked Earth with his army, and they brought along Roshi and Tien, but ACTIVELY left out 18 and didn't bring Buu, powers making any sense went completely out the window.
(And then following that with Gohan's overall performance.)
Hey, lets go back to the classics here. Goku learned the Kamehameha after just seeing it once, basically.
I know, not directly related to power levels, but definitely convinience.

I don't know about 18, but wasn't Buu hibernating it at the time?
This episode had good pacing–I love how in the first half they kept switching between all the fights. A low point was when, for some reason, the entire cast from the bleachers assume that Kelfa was defeated from one punch from Goku, and then everyone was surprised when Kelfa got up from one punch from Goku. Like, what the heck. This is a fusion why are you acting like she's this easily beaten.
Also, this whole plotline about Goku regaining stamina has been weird seeing as he's spent the entire time "resting" actually fighting and getting punched, and now he's reacquired the transformation that drained his stamina in the first place. I'm wondering how Goku is going to recover his stamina after spending all his time recovering his stamina.
With as much bs nonsense power ups the Saiyans get Nameks could easily be given ones too.
They don't have hair to change colour for power ups.
and now he's reacquired the transformation that drained his stamina in the first place
His stamina got drained by fighting…and fighting...and fighting and getting his ass kicked by Jiren. He was fumed before achieving UI, that's why he needed the Spirit Bomb's energy to fight for just a bit longer.
I'm not sure how recovering energy while fighting works but eh, I don't mind.

They have the 2 antenna's on their head.

Where's my Purple Piccolo, Toriyama!?
Skill color could change. Hell he could grow hair lol. People have fan rates this for a while.

Gokuu fighting while exhausted is because the businessmen want him featured in every episode. Morishita Kouzou explains this in an interview for Dragon Ball GT:
So you changed course from a road movie to battle.
No, it was a natural shift rather than a sudden change in course. When Goku’s not the main character, the story gets out of hand, or perhaps I should say it becomes unstable. After roughly 500 TV episodes and over 15 movies worth of Dragon Ball, I can tell that Goku is no ordinary character. For instance, back with Dragon Ball Z when there were episodes with characters other than Goku fighting, even if the ratings didn’t suffer, younger viewers lost interest. Adults watch for the story, so they can still enjoy watching how things play out even if Goku doesn’t appear, but children watch for the characters. So you have to have Goku appear. That’s why with Dragon Ball Z, when Goku didn’t appear for a while in the original manga, we thought long and hard about how to have him show up in the anime (laughs).
This is why Gokuu appears even when it would be best for the story to rest his character a little. That being said, it's definitely nice to give Gokuu interact with Caulifla and Kale as their teacher.
The Kefla thing is acceptable because Berserk Kale alone was able to fight Blue Goku. It's not like these are just two basic SSJ2 fusing and fighting Goku on par. And even after all that Blue Kaioken had the upper hand, Goku was just tired and left himself open.

It's hilarious, because people were (as usual) freaking out over the spoilers, thinking that Kefla was easily crushing SSBKK Goku. But no, it was a lot more even than that.
Can anyone explain to me why certain universes are exempt from this tournament???
Universes with mortal levels higher 7 are exempt because the gods and angels of those universes did a good job cultivating the quality of the lifeforms that reside in them.
The 8 being forced to compete in the tournmanetare low-level universes whose Supreme Kai and Gods of Destruction are incompetent at their duties.

That's a bit of an assumption, isn't it?
That's a bit of an assumption, isn't it?
Beers and Shin outright blame each other for their Seventh Universe needing to be in the tournament at all. All Beers does is sleep and Shin doesn't develop planets because he believes humans should develop themselves.
The official anthem of universe 7 should just be the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme, really
You know I found it funny since because of Super schedule in Japan, blood and brutality is toned down yet Namekians arms being ripped off are still fair game in the show.lol
That's a bit of an assumption, isn't it?
No?
Beerus and Shin have an argument about it and the Supreme Kai's from the exempt universes all say they believe their universes were spared because of such a good job they do. Their character profiles also reflect this.
While Beerus takes 39+ long year naps and destroys anyone and anything that simply annoys him, whereas U5's GoD, Arack, thoroughly investigates what should be destroyed and U8's GoD, Liquiir, only destroys defects in his Supreme Kai's plans or what lowers his universes mortal level. They are far more dutiful than Beerus and Champa.
So, we are assuming that Goku will go Ultra Instict Super Saiyan and beyond.
Fun episode.
