Here is my summary for online manga about Oda released yesterday. Oda's previous assistant is the author.
You can read it here: https://shonenjumpplus.com/article/entry/tsumeaka_01
In this manga, Amami Yoshikazu, Oda's previous assistant, aims to learn how to make a good manga from various popular mangakas.
Amami was a street bum in December 2016 due to his unpopular manga being shut down. His age was in 30s with no income.
He recalls his predicament was like a Royal Straight Flush. Editor tries to help him to draw a new manga. When Amami reveals that Oda gave him advice about manga,
editor is surprised and suggests him to draw a manga about Oda's advice itself. When asked, Oda gladly accepts it.
Amami has been a big OP fan. His favorite characters are Crocodile and Fossa. He worked under Oda for 3 years.
Amami says he was not an excellent assistant. He was eager to ask Oda about many things, but gave it up since he didn't want Oda to waste time for him.
Instead, Amami decided to secretly listen to Oda talking with others.
In 2016, Oda kindly invited Aammi to his Christmas party despite him being a street bum at that time. Amami recalls Christmas party in Oda's house was awesome.
He felt as if it was exactly like a party in ONE PIECE world. Of course all food was delicious, but he considers the most precious moment for him in the party was that the assistants felt free to ask Oda about manga to their heart's content.
When Amami asked Oda about how to make a good manga, Oda advised him to draw an "insane" manga which editor is about to get angry at.
There are thousands of serialized mangas in Japan, only 30% of which are said to be in the black, so it's important to stand out. Oda told him not to hesitate to reveal his true disposition.
According to Oda, it is so-called "Take off underpants" technique (!!). He said that it is also important to convince audience of the mangaka's "insane" disposition.
Editor is impressed that this episode about Oda is more interesting than Amami's manga. Editor tells Amami that it would be a good idea if he holds some interviews with various mangakas about manga techniques.
Amami is glad that he is not a street bum anymore now.
*It's announced that the next chapter will be released on November 19th.
*Oda saved another previous assistant who was about to die due to no money. When he made a phone call to Oda that he was in desperate situation, Oda told him to come to his studio right away.
Oda and his wife decided to rescue and hire the assistant again. (source: ONE PIECE Magazine, 2017)
*Speaking of a party, when Oda held a Takoyaki party in his house, he was reported to police by his neighbors since it was too noisy. (source: TV show July 22nd, 2016)

wow sounds like life sucks as a mangaka :wassat:
Thank you sandman!! You are the man!!
Oda is an interesting man for sure.
Seems like being manga assistant is not a good paying job, even being associated with something like One Piece.
Here is my summary for ONE PIECE editor Naito and Sugita's live streaming several hours ago
Oda is coming up with amazing new ideas about manga one after another. Sugita witnessed a rough storyboard in the near future which Oda has just drawn/written.
It was so awesome that he suddenly told Oda via messaging app that the storyboard is great despite Oda talking about another topic.
Sugita reveals that the chapter will be released in Shonen Jump in "several weeks" ("数週間" 2-9 weeks). Before the live streaming, Naito warned Sugita never to spill the beans about that chapter.
Marty Adelstein, who is responsible for the live adaptation in Holywood, recently visited Japan and enjoyed ONE PIECE Premium Show in Osaka with OP editors in order to
realize again that they can't betray those audience. Editors and him shook hands. Oda himself met Adelstein and really enjoyed talking with him.

Ex. Storyboard in chapter 598
wtf, Oda is so awesome. Tnx a lot sandman, you really made my day
Just hope that chapter is the start of the Reverie man, WCI cannot come back to what it was, not even with Tite drawing One Piece. Pleaaaase, end it in 8 chaps or less.

Prepare to be disappointed.
Here is my summary for Oda's interview in "Super Kabuki 2 ONE PIECE Grand Live" book released today.
Oda revealed it will take another 1-2 years 7 months -1 year and 7 months for ONE PIECE to enter Wano arc. He also says Wano arc will include an episode about Ace.
Audience sometimes ask Oda about foreshadowing via fan letters, which makes him think, "OMG! I haven't mentioned it yet!"
When audience ask him, "What are the name of this Luffy's move based on, he searches it on OP fansite. (Similar statement was
found in his author comment in chapter 422 in 2006.) Oda feels as if him and his audience are working together to create ONE PIECE.
The sound effect "BOOM/DON" (ドン) in ONE PIECE is based on Japanese drums as seen in highlight scenes in Jidaigeki.
(ex.
Oda came up with the idea of Marineford Summit War long ago.
Oda says it's hard to talk about justice through Luffy's mouth since he is a pirate.
So, Oda just puts a simple conclusion that the opposite side of justice is another justice. Oda says it's one of the main themes of ONE PIECE.
Oda says ONE PIECE has many flashback scenes as opposed to traditional Shonen mangas which didn't show much detailed backstories of characters.
Oda thinks there are too many mangas out there these days which handles flashbacks.
Oda's effort for ONE PIECE is divided into drawings (40%) and story (60%).
Oda says the characteristics of islands in each arc are pretty different so that audience don't get bored.
He also says that the personality of Luffy never changes. According to Oda, now that audience have fully grasped Luffy's personality,
they sometimes complain even when Oda intentionally let Luffy do something unlike him.
Oda decided to make Luffy's design simple as possible as he could when he started OP since he thought the designs of other characters would gradually become more complicated .
The fundamental of ONE PIECE is that people help others desperately. Oda believes everyone loves this kind of story.
Oda already has the idea of how ONE PIECE will end ever since the first chapter. According to another interview in 2012,
Oda said the final arc will be so amazing that it will make Marineford War arc look like nothing.

… what? Are you sure about this translation? It just seems weird, especially after editor claiming Wano to start in 2017. I can imagine few months added due to usual arc inflation, but 1-2 years is... long.
@Shobu:

Won't that would make the arc last way more?
I can't take those last Editors seriously, sorry, they time after time come out and say things like that without actual support from Oda and in general are very talkative against the old ones.
If they had say that Wano will be in 2017 everything would be great and no one would be moannig about the rushing of WCI

I really doubt they said it without backing from Oda. Remember he thought he's halfway through during Skypiea, he is as clueless as editors. And the comment isn't what makes people complain. We had main objectives of WCI arc completed long ago, and we started the climax 40 chapters in… only for it to turn out not to be a climax. Exactly what happened in Dressrosa about which people complained too, even though there was little to no hype for the arc after.
EDIT: Also, in both cases we got 10+ chapters of chase right after, during which the pacing slowed down considerably.
Remember that Oda and even his editors are awful with actual estimates, like how much of the series is complete at this time, so don't take this too much to heart because Jump Festa will probably give us more official news regarding it. I personally doubt that it'd take a year because even with Whole Cake Island likely wrapping up in the next month or so, Reverie will in no way be so long as to take up almost a whole year of the story. Wano will happen in 2018 I think but it won't take a whole year to get to it, there might have been some confusion
Yes Oda is bad at estimating time it's true but if he had give the pacing he gives the last 10-15 chapters from the beginning and don't rush it with those events you talk about and "fake" climax no one would complain about that. And even more if no one was on "oh come one end this we wait for Wano this year" thing
Just let the pace being slow as One Piece was ever since. This arc from the very begin was a "gotta go fast" not letting things to explain and extent like the half and more of her childrens to never introduce properly and be more a background character and I don't mean Smoothie only
If that tells me something, it's that Reverie won't be a short arc like what we thought. I doubt it will take 50 chapters, but it's for sure not a 5 chapters long arc. But I wonder how will Oda handle an arc without Luffy, maybe we'll have a search for Marco arc alongside? or maybe a small arc to reunite the full Supernova lineup?
EDIT: also, I would like to see the former Spade pirates if Ace is going to get any focus
1 or 2 Volumes for Reverie is what I believe from the very beginning

I don't know how would this arc look if it was paced differently, but slowing down after the wedding gotta look bad. It's as if Oda changed his mind halfway through. And honestly, just skimming through many members of the crew who can kick some ass gave the good feeling of the size and strength of the crew. And we had many fast-paced arcs in the past, and the general trend was picking up as the story of arc progressed.
Look at Alabasta, slow for first dozen of chapters, and then consistent pacing for the reminder, picking up a little after the casino. I really think it was perfect. I kinda feel like in OP of today, the run to Alubarna would take 10 chapters too. And we'd had match ups set right before Mr. Prince, but then we'd get a reset.
How we pass from a few months to 1/2 years?
Thanks Sandman:happy:
I see, so Wano will start in 3~4 years then.
Also, I'm worried about the final arc if Oda sees Marineford as the most suited to use as parameter of something great (and I thought it was a complete mess).
Well it was kinda a given that we wont get Reverie and Wano in 2017. But that it is delayed so much is kinda weird. Makes me think that he made some changes in WCI. Something like beating Big Mom, which is more or less stated in Chapter 885 from Sanji. The question is if he had the intend to "beat" her in the first place. Of course, battle wise the alliance wouldnt stand a chance, but Oda kinda weakened the Big Mom pirates, by making Big Mom a rampaging sick witch(i think she is more dangerous when she is sane), Prometheus and Zeus are missing, cracker is still down, Snack was already out, Streussen is also down(still think he is a worthy oponent) and many of big moms high tiers dont do anything.
But we are reaching the climax and there will be some kind of battle i guess, since pretty much all parties will gather around at Cacao Island.
Maybe Oda changed his mind and decided to create one more arc before Wano, or maybe he wants to greatly expand reverie arc.
IDK, but I'm excited.
Did Oda realize that Wano can't work with Luffy being so weak ?
This made my day!
And it simply means that Oda won't hurry in order to get more quickly to the Wano finale and maybe please the impatient fans, if he thinks that this way he won't be able to present the story in the way and in the pace he wants.
Excellent!
And althought i see that WCI arc is heading to some epic finale that maybe or maybe not contains the downfall of Big Mom through some meddling form an intruder, and that will need a few chapters more, maybe we won't spend the rest only in Tottoland.
Maybe more focus will be given this way to the Reverie, to the Weevil deal( he hunts Marco), more adventures at Zou or who knows what else.
And also, it is plain evident again that even official comments about the pace of One Piece must be taken with a grain of salt, the size Usopp used to purify Oars. Yup.
@Joy:

I want Reverie arc to happen including some CP0 build up. After Wano arc I want to see full blown Strawhats vs Kizaru, Sentomaru and Kuma located on Holy Land together with CP0 vs Revos.
What an incredible arc it would be.. and kind of foreshadowed.
1-2 years for Wano to happen is surpisingly long but I am quite happy with it. Luffy will enter that arc being as strong as Katakuri I hope.
A large arc with Marco and Weevil seems much more likely than the Reverie IMO. There's no way Luffy will be in Mariejois and I can't see Oda having several volumes without him.
Good. I didn't want the series to rush through a Yonkou overthrow checklist and it seemed way too soon to confront Kaido, say, 20 chapters from now. I enjoy the journey and like it when side characters get plenty of chances to shine.
Then again, I was never one of those that was super eager to get to Wano anyway at the expense of everythign before it. I want Reverie to get good focus and I want plenty of chapters devoted to Marco & Co returning from exile. Heck, I wouldn't mind if there was a completely left-field arc between the two that has scarcely been theorized.

That's what I'm thinking too, especially since Marco & co really should have a proper re-intro instead of just showing up on Wano. Plus, the Weevil stuff always seemed to foreshadow a future arc. I am thinking Luffy & the rest will get involved even though the original plan was to have just have Inuarashi and Nekomamushi seek him out.
While Reverie may get a spotlight, I still don't see more than a handful of chapters. One constant is that, yes, Luffy is always involved in the major arcs. I've been curious if anyone figured out the record amount of pages in the series where Luffy didn't appear between pages he does.

Essentially, this. I'm pretty certain Wano is going to be the longest arc in the series, but even still wondered at how the pieces would fall into place for the Straw Hats to get there by the end of this year (a few months ago back when it seemed believable). Looking forward to the plot developments Oda has in store for that.

I've never counted, but I'm pretty sure it's the time between Robin saving him from Crocodile after their round 1 and him saving Vivi together with Pell.
I f===== knew it Weevil will get his arc before wano, he is the real test luffy has to face before kaidou, since he has the strength of WB in his Young days yet he is under yonkous. since he is searching for luffy since 1 week ago, and nekomamushi is going now ti marco that will meet weevil before wano. this is the time blackbeard will show up too.
also, looks like luffy will also go to reverie before wano, another early prediction of mine. germa teased that they can go to reverie, and all the girls royals luffy knows are going there, so it was perfect for luffy to meet them again.
wano and reverie in 2017 was some huge mistake because it looked like oda is rushing to get to wano, ignoring important plot points, but nope, just fake news.
and kaidou defeat as big news at reverie is another wrong popular prediction here. he will fall after reverie. it-s about warlords, vivi alabasta and fishmen, dragon as big news, not kaidou lol. shanks and luffy-s friends just got news of luffy 500m, and they will get billions kaidou defeated luffy a few days later? nope. Snd I still fiind it silly that important news like this is only in random interviews rather then the actual manga.
@ uniaka:
I still think it's more likely Weevil will get his appearance in Wano, since his plotline is directly tired to the Whitebeard Pirates whose big moment in the New World has already been conveyed to be their partition in Wano.
I've always got the idea that Oda wants to tie as many plotlines/characters as possible into Wano (Kaido, Strawhats, Minks, Ninjas, Samurai, Kuzan, Weevil, Roger Pirates flashback, Kid alliance, X Drake…)
Wasn't the timeline provided by an editor, or that weird edo-wano thing that has to happen this year, instead of Oda himself?
sandman, like always, thanks a lot! You'er the man!
First observation: editors seem to be pretty young, at least the guy in the picture. Are they all usually so young? What qualifications do they even have? Literature Major?
Second observation: Another 1-2 years till Wano?!!? WTH?!?! I thought Oda wanted to get through the story a bit more quickly…

What I know is about Linlin before Reverie not Kaido
One of the most serious arcs in the series so far was Water 7/Enies Lobby. Before that began, Oda deliberately inserted a more lighthearted arc into the story with the Davy Back Fight, where some of the important plot points that would come up in Water 7 were already touched upon.
If you re-read these volumes, I think this decision works pretty well and gives the reader some breathing time between the (IMO) hugely epic Skypiea and the very dramatic Water 7.
Maybe Oda wants to do something similiar, a small more lighthearted arc, before Wano. Plus, he at least has to show us the opening of the Reverie before Wano starts, so that might amount to another 15 - 20 chapters… That would explain the "1-year-estimate"...
If Luffy goes to Reverie, then Vivi is going to officially join the crew lol
If Luffy goes to Reverie, then Vivi is going to officially join the crew lol
I find that very unlikely since the story seems to go in the direction that the Strawhats or Luffy going back to a previous location doesn't happen. We only had that once with Sabaody and that was under special circumstances (the timeskip). On the Grand Lne, there only seems to be one direction: Literally going forward until we're at Raftel. As long as we travel the Grand Line, Oda seems to go with the idea that backtracking or crossing the some location for Luffy twice is not his style.
The only point in the story when this pattern will be broken in my opinion is after we have finished the Grand Line.
Greg, has the recent announcement that Wano is 1-2 years away changed your thoughts on how Whole Cake will end?
We have to get resolution that will still take a couple more months yet, even with all the pieces set up.
-Luffy has to beat Katakuri,(another 2 or 3 chapters)
Give a couple chapters for the news of the wedding to spread and be showcased, and then Reverie is next which we already knew about. Given how long that's been built up now and how many big players will be involved, that could easily last a couple months, though its hard to say how long Oda would be willing to stay away from Luffy an co, he's never gone more than a couple chapters without at least some of the crew.
And then after that you have to assemble all the teams for the assault on Wano. And there may be a little mini-arc leading up to it.
2 years is Oda giving wiggle room, but it being that far off is really hard to see happening. (Though the Strawhats could be doing stuff during the reverie I suppose.)
Given what we currently know, and assuming Reverie isn't some crazy series formula breaker that runs for a full volume or two on it's own, I can see being at Wano happening by summer, but end of the year at the latest. I can't imagine it being late 2019 as a proper 2 year time frame would suggest, but early 2019 maybe?
-and then resolution for all the balls in the air including memories, Sanji getting approval from his father for having completely outdone him, possibly a little more flashback, and the strawhats getting away and BM seeing the damage she herself caused. All that together is still a good 8-15 chapters at least, which at 3 chapters a month (and maybe only 2 in December) will take us well into next year, March or April at the very least. (And when there were claims at the start of last year of this arc being finished by mid 2017, most of us called that unrealistic unless the climax was completely skipped and hel
Don't forget the situation with Jinbe joining. Isn't it likely that he might get a little flashback for himself? (I vaguely remember that you once posted something about this…)
If Luffy goes to Reverie, then Vivi is going to officially join the crew lol
Err, a little presumptuous there. It's a possibility though I suppose.
I'm gonna take this with a pinch of salt.

What makes you remove the option of luffy and WCI team going to reverie. Even more when new Royal sanji and his family are invited there.
Sanji-s new revealed story sounds like the perfect excuse to brring luffy and co there. This reverie is only once in the manga and it also has many main story important events, all the Royal friends luffy ever had, and maybe dragon and sabo. This reverie was teased and will have consequences on both alabasta and fishmen. And luffy there to save at least vivi and maybe shiranoshi, and maybe even witness dragon fall.

8-15 chapters for the rest of the arc right now are a very low number.
Have a nice Summer everyone. Around then WCI could end
For the rest I mostly agree and would be even better if it was never mentioned the "2017 Wano" and Oda just doing his best to not rush this arc. A very important arc with a Yonko. If it's a Yonko give it the proper time and respect. Don't rush it
- Oda revealed it will take another 1-2 years for ONE PIECE to enter Wano arc. He also says Wano arc will include an episode about Ace.
another 1-2 years
Now I have to wait 1 to 2 more years to see Robin again! ;_;
This news couldn't be any more welcomed by me. I think I'm one of those rare few that's actually looking forward more to Reverie than to Wano.
Trust me guys, Reverie is a powder keg that's ready to explode. The potential there is limitless!
@Jazzy:
Trust me guys, Reverie is a powder keg that's ready to explode. The potential there is limitless!
That's a good point. It is definitely shaping up to be an arc which may turn the established arc formula on its head. Though I think it will start before Wano, end with a cliffhanger (either Blackbeard or Kaido appearing there) and we won't see the end of Reverie after Wano.
Regarding Wano, there is the fear that Oda won't be able to integrate the various plotlines smoothly and we'll end up with another Dressrosa or Marineford, though I hope he has learned from these arcs.
Maybe Zunisha will make a stop at Elbaf to eat from the Adam tree. It would kind of suck if Usopp went there without Luffy but they do need more power to take down Kaido.
Franky could also use giant weapons to turn Zunisha into a walking fortress.
