@Count:
Oh yeah. I think the kids reminded Nami of Bell-mere.
Pretty sure Tashigi reminded her of Bellemere for being a strong female marine.

Oh. Um, okay. Actually, it's kind of hilarious that the most effective impression Tashigi can have on a character is being a caring mother rather than a powerful swordsman lol. First that and now Carrot's flashback. Koshiro can't stop being right.
Luffy multiply his limbs to 100 or what's not is irrelevant at this point. He can't do damage to Katakuri. Once he figures out how to damage Katakuri, two limbs will be enough.

Well Bellemere was a badass so it was I already weird to me when Tashigi got that much praise. Now that you mention that whole carrot can't be a good swordsman is a weird bit of backstory.

It is weird, but it does explain why she is the only Mink to rely on a glove for Electro. At least… I think. She had problems with wielding a sword, not Electro itself. I wonder where and why Pedro got fake animal claw paws anyway. Then again, those are boring questions I don't care about. Same with the flashback due to how short and last minute it is lol.
I doubt Usopp will ever mention his dead mom. Maybe once he meets up with his father.
Of all the small things in the series that bug me, the largest of those is Yasopp just leaving his family to be a criminal. Like I mean Shanks' crew is the most classic pirate crew in the series and set the precedent in the first chapter. But real dick move to leave your family, regardless of knowing if his wife would die or not.
My personal joking-kinda-not-joking headcanon is that Usopp is so traumatised and in denial about his deadbeat dad that only after years of therapy will he realize that becoming a "brave warrior of the sea" means coming to terms with his dad who chose Pirating over his family.

These woulnd't be boring questions if it made sense to ask them. However it's not the case, as we've seen at least two unnamed minks using the gloves.

My mistake, thank you for correcting me. Although that goes to show how little focus those paws have been getting as unique weaponry. They seem to be a stylish creative decision for an animal tribe race. Which is fine and cool. But I would like to know what they are at least called as a weapon.
Don't know what Luffy is trying to do tbh.
Jinbe confirmed as a skilled helmsman. God that theory about him fitting the role of helmsman in the crew was SO FREAKING TRUE after all. Thank you Oda.

Yeah, I agree. It all makes the flashback even more random. Pedro gives Carrot a weapon that's neither unique nor focused on and not even used by him, and it's supposed to look lik big moment. Really it'd make more sense if it was introduced as guardians' primary weapon which would create some mystery regarding Carrot as musketeer using it or something.

I love feeling of strong resolve and main character still feeling like being on short end of the stick.
Luffy will very likely use Katakuri siblings to even the odds(he took quite some damage because he could not concentrate on Katakuri untill now and now it will be Katakuris turn).
It would be awful and funny if he uses them after getting into Bound Man and grabbing one in each hand just to block with them - punch Katakuri using them.. I know it is dirty fighting but they are pirates and after Katakuri gets some damage and odds are more even Oda can remove those siblings out of picture. But that is just my theory or rather something I would have fun seeing.

Well, if you want a technical term:

Good chapter. Yay Jinbei. Oh noes Luffy taking a beating. Interested in how this progresses. I did laugh when Chopper and co were like "Oh the green room, is that heaven" haha. I love seeing Luffy struggle because that means it challenges him to rise above the level he is already at. He will obv learn plenty from this encounter I think. All I have to say. My hand might be broken.
@Shobu:
Eh, no.
that page says the same exact thing i'm saying..he experimented the rumble balls on himself and he discovered 4 more transformations of his fruit, it was never intended as something that works on every devil fruit user.
also he effects zoans since they are the ones that usually have set transformations.

Hi all exploring Arlong Park!!
CHC here, bringing the latest in the chapter review, the link at the bottom will cover the following;
One Piece Manga Chapter 881 review
In this weeks review we cover;
Jinbei takes us to "A Room Of Waves", Where Fishmen Children Love To Play!
Jinbei saves the Strawhat Crew from Big Mom's giant wave.
We confirm Jinbei's official position in the Mugiwara Crew as THE HELMSMAN.
10 hour time limit for conclusion!
How will Luffy fight back!? Luffy's Determination!
How will the rest of the Strawhat Pirates avoid Big Mom!?
Jinbei THE BOSS!!
Please see video below…Enjoy!
I wonder what will Mum do now that her target has disappear. It would be funny if she started attacking her own fleet and it would make the necessity of this cake for saving the country less theoretical
Hey, CHC, maybe you could actually comment on the thread like everyone else and only then link the videos? You know, participate in the discussion on equal standing instead of using the forum as an advertisement platform. You may have some really cool insights you want to share and we could like to discuss stuff with you. But if all you do is post links to your videos and summarize the latest chapter, some people (like me) aren't even going to bother. If Greg, or Sandman, or Redon, or Robby, or Daz, or Romance Dawn, or Count, or Kaido (some examples of posters I like to read from) would only share videos instead of actual comments, I would be losing an awful lot of good stuff and coming to this forum would be meaningless.
Looking forward to the next cover story, Sai's was funny, but moving on.
Will Mama turn against her own fleet now? Or will she head towards Cacao Island as well for a final confrontation. I could see the Big Mom pirates thinking the cake was poisoned if they spot Sanji there, given how an assassination plot was just stopped and them trying to prevent the cake from being delivered.
I like how you can see the waves eyes as it crashes. Jimbe, you are a beast. Now I NEED to see Jimbe surfing as a kid. I guess we did need Jimbe to helm the ship for a future ship battle to occur, it will be intense. Considering the size of the wave, surfing it can make you travel pretty far away(a couple of kilometers) at a pretty decent speed. Checking out when they leave the Green Room, it would be hard to believe any Big Mom pirate could see them.

Seeing Katakuri use his Mochi to create resistance when he is kicking Luffy was pretty sweet. I am sure Luffy covered his mouth so the crew would not yell and give away they are fine. I think Luffy is still holding the mirror with his hand. I am just surprised Katakuri didn't find it strange Luffy was talking to himself if he couldn't really hear him.
Now that Luffy does not need to worry about the crew, Katakuri will get it.
Funny how sai's story is so similar to sanji's story, this arc is about sanji's wedding and sanji got his wedding too. The 3 guys from the fleet to seem like combinations of luffy zoro and sanji. sai is like a mixture of sanji and luffy, bartolomeo is luffy and zoro and cavendish is zoro and sanji.
feel like luffy will awaken his devil fruit somehow tomake the cake better (an ingredient will be missing or something)

It explicitly says that it works on Devil Fruits transformation ability… so fruits that hasn't to do with transformation things like Buggy's, Vandendecker's or Brook's should be aside of it's wavelength action to change it someway.
Luffy changes his body (inside and out) in rubber, he's considered. Zoans doesn't have properly "transformations" either, they have "morph phases"... but when the user turns to the animal side, that by itself is the singular transformation they go on, and what Chopy refers to in the page.
@O:

Gomu gomu no.. whipped cream mixer?
I'm sure this arc will end with:
!
As much as this cake will please bm, shs did wreck her plans to get germa, wrecked her crew, leaving her weak for the other yonkous and marines to strike, so it's not all fair deal even if they make this cake for her.
One of the straw hats will spin it. Who? Well, all this arc is because of sanji, so he makes the most sense, and he will get his years back when bm returns as villain.
Same way it was foreshadowed that sweets stop bm's tantrum, it was also shown none leaves her unless they spin the roulette, for a fair trade.
Based on the numbers and limbs, it's unlikely for sanji to lose a limb or only 10 years. 100 sounds way too much for 1 person so maybe luffy, sanji give some of their years to make 100 in total? And they will get it back in elbaf when they beat bm. Judge himself coul help giving all his years if after he sees sanji stop bm with his cooking, realises he was wrong all along about him, and he was the fail in the family that almost got it kld.
I severely doubt that Big Mom is going to return as a villain in the future.
I sincerely doubt the wheel will factor into the story anymore. For one thing it's been confirmed that it is rigged. Pedro only survived because he took on the remainder of Zepo's cost for spinning it, Pekoms begged Mom for mercy and he offered an eye. Also if all goes well, Big Mom will be unconscious just like after her rage for Semla in the flashback. Any negotiations if they even take place will involve her children.

In a worse manga, Luffy would spin the wheel, and it'd miraculously give him the best result, baffling everyone at just how lucky Luffy is. Well, not that luck isn't a major theme in One Piece, but that would certainly be pushing it…

What?!?!?! It landed on the 1/10 of a millimeter thick button that says I have to give you all my treasure and disband my crew?!?!? Why did we put that on the dartboard?

Sounds like something the likes of Foxy would do.
So Katakuri doesn't have black hair? I guess with all his similarities to Luffy's powers I also assumed his hair color was the same.
I also wish Oda saved the high-pitched voice gag from Pica for Katakuri since I think it would contrast well with his badass appearance, but I guess that red/pink hair will suffice.

To be fair you wont find much manlier shades of pink
This looks pretty manly for me.

Pica gag was funny on a low tier mook such as him, but on a Yonkou commander that would lose it's funny side very quickly and would get annoying I think.

To be honest I am quite happy with Katakuri being as serious as he is. Its rare for One Piece to have character that Oda doesnt put into gag situations at all.
Zoro is nice mix of Katakuri type of badass and idiot swordsman. Katakuri being hellbent on killing Luffy before he grows more and him being covered in magenta motives is quite cool for me.
Lets wait and see what Oda will do with Katakuri, I have weird feeling that even as Luffy will win this fight he will loose something for good, like an eye. Luffy is fighting someone who should fight on par with any of Admirals and that helluva challenge and to win with someone like that I expect there will be some sort of price to pay.

Luffy will never lose an eye. Mostly because Oda wouldn't want to draw an eyepatch or whatever on his main character on every panel. He sometimes forgets which side certain characters scars are placed on their face or body. He even forgot that Kyros was missing a leg once in Dressrosa. You think an ageing man will want to bother himself with drawing a missing eye? It's enough that Zoro has one eye closed we don't need that with Luffy too.
Sorry, everyone, for the lack of chapter comparisons the past two weeks. As I mentioned before, I was in Chile on a business trip where I couldn't access the VIZ versions of the chapters, and haven't gotten a chance to catch up yet. Hopefully will be able to do so within the next week or so. In the meantime, here's the comparisons for this week. Not too many this time, actually!
Welcome back! Missed these!
The VIZ translation makes it so much easier to follow. What stuck out to me most was Jinbei thinking back to when he was a child. I couldn't tell if he was referring to himself or not or if anyone was actually in that wave but with the cleaner VIZ version and the sound affects it's definitely Jimbei and friend or two. As tiny and seemingly insignificant as that little panel is, it's our second instance of a child Jimbei and I wonder if there is more there that would be elaborated on.
Oh hey, Jinbe helming the Sunny through a wave is the first actually interesting thing he's done ever. More of that please.
Sounds like we now know his role in the crew
Also Kakuri became Joseph Joestar! Lol

Hm… Now that you bring it up, just maybe we can get a kid Jimbei flashback...

We very well might get to see it sooner or later. I expect his dream to be quite alike with Big Moms dream - for all races and especially fishmen/merment to live together.
World Goverment does not want people to unite I think because then they would be at danger.. That is main reason why they want to silence Revolutionaries and CP0 is being used.
Reverie should give us more insight into that, at least I strongly hope for it.

If we get another flashback for Jimbei, it should be about somethimg more personal than equality. He only started caring about that as an adult after Fisher Tiger and Otohime died.

This is true. Though a part of me wonders if he originally wanted some sort of equality, became jaded as an adult, then came around again in the last 10 years. I figure there has to be more to Jimbei's history and in that will come his time at the Karate Dojo, and then later on how he got that scar.
I've been saying it for years and I still think some time after becoming a War Lord Jimbei in pursuit of some sort of diplomatic relations with some high profile group was shot down hard and put in his place. The scar across his eye would forever remind him that he alone wasn't enough to accomplish his dream.

I'd wager it's someone from WG, maybe CP0 or something.
Reason being that Inazuma has an identical scar, cutting over one of the eyes as well. Just from upside down. A mysterious right handed rapier wielder!
Of course, depending on Inazuma's past, it could just as well be a pirate.
Or those 2 scars are completely unrelated.
Friendly reminder: No chapter this week.
It feels especially cruel to have a break when the series has been at one of its best points (if not the best) since at least the timeskip :sad:

On the bright side, at least the break didn't happen after we saw the wave for the first time.
