I enjoyed this episode very much.
King's Landing
-Dany gigantic army is pretty impressive. A reminder that the war is not over only because the show wants to keep it going.
- I wonder how the unsullied feed themselves to get all the way here. I mean that gigantic army must required a shitload of food. Did Dany ship it it to them at different moment of their walk? It's not totally impossible I suppose.
-I enjoyed a lot of the interaction during the walk to the pit(It's like the walk at wall). The exchange between Brienne and the hound was not to my liking tho. He is a little more reasonable and nice than I would expect. On the other hand I appreciated Tyrion meeting with Podrick and Bronn. Also there was a what's in the box moment.
-First thing I though when Cersei gave the order in which the mountain have to kill the people is "the silver bitch has a dragon better kill the dwarf first" but considering the seating arrangements there is a chance he could make it and maybe get 3-4 additional death before getting burn. But I am surprise the bitch is the first one she wants dead and not her cursed brother.
-Danny entrance looked baddass. You come in top of you dragon and you immediately tells who the boss is. Cersei played it pretty cool too. Calling her on her tardiness.
-Danny coming with 2 dragons MIGHT be stupid. And I say might because it depends on why she did it. At first I thought she was using it as a way to show how dangerous the army of the dead is. If they can take a dragon we need to ally kind of deal. But the fact that she doesn't mentioned it and Cersei comment is played as her being smart seems to mean it was just some miscalculation on Danny side. If really they didn't want to advertised their weakness I would expect at least Tyrion to point out how suspicious it would look for only 2 dragons to show up.
- That scene with the hound confronting the mountain was weird and pure fanservice. I have a hard buying he would choose that moment to do so. It's not even like they left each other on some meaningful promise of revenge. They played it as if before he left the hound sent a raven to the mountain promising he would find him one day and kill him. Wasn't a fan.
-Euron is an asshole. I appreciate Cersei putting him on his place so we could get on with the show.
-I'm not sure why the zombie stop moving in the box after some time. They don't need sleep as far as I know.
- I don't know who outlined the presentation for the zombie but that fucker is good. That shit was truly a scary sight with his ferocity and the sacary limb moving followed by the calm dispatching of them. They are freaking scary on normal lighting. I mean the nice climate really enhanced the scariness of the thing. No way Jon planned that. He sucks at convincing so either Tyrion or maybe the hound laid it out.
-I appreciated the look of true terror in Cersei face. You could really sense how much of an effect it had on her. And Euron really sold his part as the coward that goes to his island. Seemed a little underwhelming but plausible. I just assumed Cersei wasn't trying to kill him right now because she was in the middle of a bunch of enemy forces.
-Jon Snow revealing his allegiance is the kind of conflict I can buy from Snow. It fits his character and how he has been shown to act. He is a man of honor and he would refuse to die. So I kind of appreciated it.
-It's funny how people always mention Ned as dying for being to honorable when him altering Robert's will is what got him in the mess and he actually died telling a lie that should have saved him. But he was probably the most honorable man in the show. Honor and family were his compass.
-Considering her plan I am surprised Cersei walked away. It also kind of annoyed me that both parties were trying to see what Cersei gets out of it when it should be obvious with Danny forces right there. But the rest episode redeemed that. I supposed considering how desperate they were despite being in the best position she bet they would do another attempt. I can buy that.
-for all the talk about reunion Jaimie/Tyrion or Jaimie/Cersei the family interaction I enjoy the most out of the Lannisters are Cersei/Tywin and Tyrion/Cersei. While the first is gone forever there is just something about how venomous the second is that makes it charming. And they have such openly shitty opinion of each other that their talks always feels kind of honest and more open. Plus they are both alcoholic even if you normally only think of Tyrion that way.
-So pregnant Cersei. I don't think it's a trick but I don't rule it out.
-Danny needs a new advisor for everything concerning the war against the Lanninsters. Tyrion clearly suck at it. They have been outmaneuvering him the whole season. He might be great for political advise but she needs a new military and war advisor.
-Considering the original plan was to not even to ask Cersei for help but only for a truce I stand by the idea of the zombie being a terribly stupid one. The risks far outweighs the reward.
-Considering the original propsal of Danny was a truce i don't see why Cersei faked sending help. It would have been better to take the truce and plot from there.
-I can understand keeping Jaimie out of the loop for the plan to get the golden company. I wouldn't trust his honorable and conflicted ass with this kind of info either. But the fakeout with the army she probably should have tell.
-I didn't think Cersei would dare kill Jaimie but I did think she would put him in the dungeon for when the war is over and their kid is born. So letting him walked away surprised me. Anyway Jaimie has balls of steel to walk away so confidently when the mountain is here.
-Cersei's plan (aside from the fake help) seems like her best chance. Let the queen face the dead with her army while you reinforce your own and face the weakened queen once it's done. I mean the plan is to survive the dead so she needs to see how to keep the throne if the army of the dead is defeated.
-I don't know why but I loved the snow falling on Jaimie.
Winterfell - Jon continue with his legendary lack of communications it seems. I hope he at least mentioned that beding came with help to burn the dead and fighting the walkers.
-I was pissed at Sansa relying so much on Littlefinger. I don't care much about the conflict with Arya(except Lady Arya being a stupid assumption) but Littlefinger did so much that I expect her to never willingly rely on him again. So the rest was cathartic.
-Considering everything I just said and Baelish supposed intelligence you would expect him to be a little more aware of how weird it is for Sansa to suddenly trust him that much. She kept ignoring her for the first part of the season. You're a schemer that assumes the worst of people and has burned Sansa to many times for her not to know you. Be more paranoid about her trust.
-"Surprise accusation/trial that turns out to be for the trickster" cliché. I will admit that I felt for it in the first 20s and it would have been more have I not read the possibility for Arya and Sansa working together.
-It was nice to see Bran helping the family out a little. So I guess the rape thing was just a fluke.
-At first I thought "Damn that's a lot of accusation with no proof and only doubtful witnesses" but than I remember we were in the North the place where a person's word actually means something(closest thing is Lannisters paying debts) and that those giving testimony were the Starks a family about honor and good ethics so I'm fine with it.
-But damn that Baelish is the chief of the vale did not matter much. I mean is there any reason for the guy not to follow Baelish order other than him not being a fan? How easy it was really bother me.
-I liked Sansa delivery on how he betrayed both her mother and her.
-Something a reviewer once mention and I agree is that it is strange that Bealish would send someone to kill Bran in his room a place wher Caitelyn has good reason to be and decent chance of being injured.
-Loved the scene at the top of the fort. Although I wonder what Sansa and Arya were doing there. I thought they were waiting on Jon but it doesn't seem like it. Anyway I appreciate Arya being fine with Sansa as the Lady of Winterfell and Sansa telling Arya she's the strongest person she knows. A good warm family is waiting for Jon when he gets there.
-So Sam went for Winterfell. I love when Bran mention that Jon is sand and Sam corrects him. Bran just go "I guessif I stopped being lazy and watched 10 more minutes I would have been good".
-And of course I just laugh at the show telling you how badly Jon wants to bang his aunt and how awesome it is.
-Telling Jon is bad idea. It doesn't help the war it just have the possibility to make it more complicated.
Others - For a moment I thought we were going to have the iron born respect Tyrion courage which I wouldn't have liked(it doesn't fit them). But I'm definitely behind beating someone to death so we can go rescue our leader.
-I want to see the hound at Winterfell. He also rescued Sansa once. I even think he proposed to escort her home. And he's on Arya list.
-I supposed the reason Tormund and others escape is that the walkers only walk.
- So dead dragon shoots blue beams. Ok. Kind of weird but ok.
