So you think 10 years ago there weren't chapters like this? I guess you aren't as big as a fan you claim to be.
Well I think 10 yrs ago is pretty understandable, but now marching towards the end of the series, such poor writing, it sucks.

I liked the last 2 chapters.
But this was probably the most awful chapter since like forever for me.
The way Sanji just goes to bake the stupid cake as if it was nothing and leaving everyone there, then he sees Brook and Chopper fighting…
LOL Katakuri just stands there with his arms crossed…because plot.
And yeah Pudding, we get it, you´re a psycho bitch. Like mother, like daughter.
The last Sanji panel is the worst. It´s like from a paralell universe where One Piece is total crap.
EDIT: Maybe I just didn´t get it and Oda decided to troll everyone including himself big time, in which case, he´s done a tremendous job. I fell for it.
Katakuri doesn't have the time for trash, there is only one threat as far as he's concern and that is Luffy. He's patiently waiting for Luffy.
Oooh boy, the end of this arc is gonna piss some people off
@Master:
Well I think 10 yrs ago is pretty understandable, but now marching towards the end of the series, such poor writing, it sucks.
How much you think we are at the end of the series? Is this ending in the next three years? You don't know what good writting is.

Pretty good point! In my opinion Katakuri looks like a good guy, I think Luffy might try to make him join SH why not, its not his fault that he's been born in BM's family after all!
@.access:
Sanji is trying to get rid of the SH to prevent his friends from fighting BM and her crew: "Sanji doesn't trust Luffy, this is ridiculous!"
Sanji trusts the crew to fight BM and her crew and is off to help somewhere else: "Sanji doesn't care about his friends, this is ridiculous!"
yeah,pretty much
I remember when luffy decided to go save ace instead of going beck to his crew and there were people arguing that he was "abandoning them"
They stopped to check the hole instead of gaining ground on BM? what's this? some kind of teen horror movie? :getlost:
It's not particularly out there for anyone in any setting to want to check on their opponent to see their status. Once they knew she was still up and about, they got moving right away.
it definitely is a 180 on sanji..before it was an idiot low life that she didn't care for at all… there was not a single aspect of sanji's personality and appearance that she even ever hinted to appreciate...but then he compliments her eye and suddenly she is madly in love....again,let's go back to hancock....her change from not caring about luffy at all to mad love was way more motivated than this, she came to like luffy for what he is and his personality... with her opinion about him changing three times in three different occasions before she started being lovesick...not because he said "oh you have a nice tattoo on your back"
Let me be honest, I'm not a particularly big fan of Hancock's turn either. But Pudding did have a good amount of weight to transition on this. She mostly saw the side of Sanji prone to superficial lust. She winded up burning her bridges with him before he took steps as far as making her food. But when Sanji proved to her that he had more than just a superficial respect for her, that's when her emotions started conflicting. Still a bit sudden, yes, but far from out of nowhere.
This arc has been hella boring lately TBH, we all know that nothing will happen to the SHs and Oda knows it. The only reason drama works in other arcs is cause of side characters that Oda makes us care about, this arc has asshole germa and thats it. I dont care about popooding.

how is complimenting a part of her body something more than superficial lust?
i would understand if he complimented pudding's kindness or something like that..but he just said he finds the third eye cute..the guy who likes everything about every young attractive girl ever
"Hie, I'm Katakuri the strongest warrior of the Bigmom pirates. But I wont move my fat ass and neither will Perospero, instead we'll cast fodders on Brook and Chopper."
Very interesting and perfect chapter. Love it when it's redundant and slow as fuck, exactly my taste.
And the cliffhanger hypes me like it never did before. What kind of flavor will Sanji use ? Is he gonna redeem himself by making the best cake in the world ?
WILL BIGMOM MAGICALLY TURN NICE ONCE SHE'LL EAT THE GODDAMN CAKE ?????!!!!!!!!!!
"oh yeah very yummy, you can go I'll just kill Perospero lol"

What about Katakuri, Capone and Gastino?
Nice, that was quick progress forward. I expected it'd take more chapters to get back to Sunny and get to the bakation of cake thing.
kinda painful to read. pudding makes me cringe so hard.
anyway, im hoping there'll be a 3 way fight between mama, katakuri+perospero, and the SHs. Mama, being as she is right now, should attack her children as well. otherwise a lot of people will complain about how the SHs can survive being attacked by mama and her two eldest sons.
What about Katakuri, Capone and Gastino?
The worst gen has plot armor until they become some big-shots.
Katakuri is shallow af. People are having a hard-on on his haki.
And didn't Gastino escaped ? and is now far far away ?
how is complimenting a part of her body something more than superficial lust?

How is complimenting someone's third eye superficial lust?
Either you're into some freaky shit or you actually like the girl for who she is.
Can someone prove to me that plot armor is always bad? Or is it even bad at all?
It's like complaining you need oxygen to live.
Wow, Pudding has gone so tsundere it's turned into a split personality. Tsun!Pudding even does the "I'm not doing this for you" cliche of tsundere everywhere. Also it seems the answer to whether Pudding is good or evil is currently "Yes."
This arc has been hella boring lately TBH, we all know that nothing will happen to the SHs and Oda knows it. The only reason drama works in other arcs is cause of side characters that Oda makes us care about, this arc has asshole germa and thats it. I dont care about popooding.
So where was the drama in Enies Lobby, where the focus was almost entirely on the main characters?
The Straw Hats are going to have to deal with a lot still. Big Mom's on their tail, there's a ton of enemies on the Sunny, and it's gonna take a while for Sanji to get the cake made.
Man, the negativity in these chapter threads is seriously dampening my enjoyment of One Piece -.- I personally enjoyed both the chapter in general and Pudding specifically. I was worried that Oda might just have her doing a complete 180 turn and depict as this likable and nice character because Sanji evoked the goodness in her or something. I like tis depiction much better, it's pretty entertaining. And it does make sense: She is usually a cold and sadistic person that just acts nice. Now, she all of a sudden has real emotions for somebody and has no clue how to deal with that, so she can only act like the despicable bitch she usually is.
And what is with all the complaints about Brook and Chopper not being immediately defeated by Katakuri? Wasn't everybody worried last week that Chopper and Brook would not stand a chance instead of getting their moment to shine?? Now they get said moment and everybody is pissed off!
Soul King Brook
Stand : Bone to be wildWell I didn't expect Oda to go 300 % tsundere on Pudding. I was expecting something like 150%
lmao, I don't know why but I like this. (Pudding being over the top tsun x Sanji being over the top lover boy)
anyway, Brook Chopper and Chiffon make the chapter for me.

"oh yeah very yummy, you can go I'll just kill Perospero lol"
HAHAHAHHAHA Exactly my thoughts on the chapter.
Honestly, I think people are only bored with this because we've been stuffing the cake theory down their throats for the past few months. So it looks like they did believe after all :pudding: We know the pieces are falling into place for this. Hopefully people will get more excited as the action-baking continues
@Kaido:

she is still just praising her body, even if for an "abnormal" part..it's just only her appearance..he said nothing about her character, and in fact he knows NOTHING about her character other than that she lied to his face all this time.
"Hie, I'm Katakuri the strongest warrior of the Bigmom pirates. But I wont move my fat ass and neither will Perospero, instead we'll cast fodders on Brook and Chopper."
Given the injuries and bruises the soldiers have dealt to the two thus far…sounds like a smart decision on his part!
Also Pudding joins the Tsundere club along Violet and Hancock.
Pudding isn't outright bad…I did got a bit of a chuckle when the strawhats point out how emotionally flippant she is.
But Sanji...why do you still care for Pudding when she tried to kill you and your family...
Also Pudding joins the club of Tsundere along Violet and Hancock.
what's tsundere about violet and hancock?
i don't think you know what a tsundere is

That's how I feel too. Now that we know it's going to happen we can focus on other stuff.
what's tsundere about violet and hancock?

In the case of Hancock she's a tsundere in the Helga Pataki "tsun to everyone else but dere when it comes tothe one she likes" sense, minus the bad attitude towards her Arnold when face to face. Meanwhile you have Mansherry, who's the opposite of that that Leo.
Yeah, though, Violet doesn't really count as one.
Also Pudding joins the club of Tsundere along Violet and Hancock.
It's been a while since we've seen Hancock but if I remember correctly she is just shy around Luffy, she does not reject him.
And Viola likes Sanji, but she doesn't seem to have any strong feelings.
Pudding isn't outright bad…I did got a bit of a chuckle when the strawhats point out how emotionally flippant she is.
But Sanji...why do you still care for Pudding when she tried to kill you and your family...
Yeah I really don't like this. He doesn't even have to hate her, but don't be all "in love" with her after what she did. Even the rest of the crew don't seem all that angry with her, she betrayed them and then when they were captured went on insulting Sanji and how she was going to kill him. Yet their reaction to her feels so weak and they immediately accept her help again, as if she can't possibly try to betray them again.

That's why I go to plenty of different places to see what the overall reaction is instead of the kneejerk reaction. It's much more well-rounded that way. Was this chapter, chapter 876, the second coming of Jesus, no. I enjoyed it though - I ended up liking Pudding's personality a lot this chapter because it's such an extreme version of tsundere. Some really well-drawn panels of her face too. We all expected the wedding cake reveal, but a volume reader probably wouldn't.
@Kaido:
Given the injuries and bruises the soldiers have dealt to the two thus far…sounds like a smart decision on his part!
Why ?? Katakuri could one-shot both of them. Not sure about Perospero.
But I guess "they're just playing because they think the other SHs are dead" –great
she is still just praising her body, even if for an "abnormal" part..it's just only her appearance..he said nothing about her character, and in fact he knows NOTHING about her character other than that she lied to his face all this time.
Sanji claiming to like Pudding's personality would have been a lie. Because he knew she was a murderous psychopath, and let's be clear: that's what she is. She knew that too.
Just because one pays someone a physical compliment does not make it boil entirely down to superficial lust. Almost all people find love and get married in part because they're physically attracted to their partner, and compliments about each others' appearances are gonna be commonplace - hopefully, even going well into when the two get old and become less conventionally attractive. It's one thing for Sanji to get a nosebleed when he imagines Pudding naked. It's another for him to develop a respect for her that means he'll accept her physical flaws and abnormalities just as they are.
But Sanji…why do you still care for Pudding when she tried to kill you and your family...
Because she's got boobs. Sanji is uncomplicated in that way. Also from his viewpoint she's less "irredeemably evil" and more "still in midst of nervous breakdown (for lack of a better term)".
Why ?? Katakuri could one-shot both of them. Not sure about Perospero.
But I guess "they're just playing because they think the other SHs are dead" –great
…OK. So what's their need to one-shot them if they think that? Might as well test the waters with these two if that's all they're gonna get.
what's tsundere about violet and hancock?
i don't think you know what a tsundere is
no they are not indeed, I was about to say "thot" actually but then I thought about not being coarse and for some reason I just took the word some guy used a few posts above mine
You guys have obviously never played video games. A boss always lets the mooks loose on the heroes before they move in.
I thought the big problem of this chapter (and the last 2, all combined) is that the pace of plot progression has slowed down a bit and they're just running and running and escaping from Big Mom. Sounds a lot like she is the new Shinokuni deadly (not) gas. It's been a bit boring, although when Mama gets to actually do something it is just really threatening. I mean, those panels where she's eating through the ground itself asking for the wedding cake are awesome! But somehow, people are having problems with the story developments? Even though many people have been predicting things were going in this direction for a while now? We knew Pudding would turn like this since she had the "I'll bake a cake" moment a few chapters ago. And her split personality tsundere thingy is funny enough and it looks great visually. We knew Sanji's big moment in an arc about food would be making the damn cake for Mama's hunger pangs since Greg came up with this idea ages ago. Everything is just falling into place too slowly for my taste. That's what I was expecting people to complain about, not the obvious plot developments that we're having, which are good enough in my book.
On another note, I really hope this "meeting at sea" thing means the Straw Hats are getting on the Sunny and will be chased by sea, thus giving us our sea battle that Oda said he wanted to draw in a recent interview. This seems the perfect place to make it happen instead of what I imagine Wano to be. Although if Wano is indeed composed of 4 islands, it would also make sense to have a sea battle there…

The whining about how predictable this "baking-a-cake" thing was is also ridiculous. This arc has been nothing but unpredictable so far, but as soon as fans get one theory right, everybody has to complain about how boring and predictable Oda has become :getlost:Maybe some should remind themselves that predictable also doesn't always equal bad. The reason that this turn of events has been predicted is because it makes the most sense, dramatically. In the past, Oda has given characters like Nami, Usopp or Chopper moments where their special talent and role in the crew is what saves the day, i.e. by superior sharpshooting, navigational skills etc. And now its Sanjis turn. It's hard to create a scenario where awesome cooking can actually save everybody, but Oda has successfully set-up one in this arc.
At the end of the day, Sanji is not part of the crew because he is an awesome fighter, that is just an extra asset. He is in the crew of the future Pirate King because he is the best cook. His cooking is what this arc has been focusing on and it makes complete dramatic sense that his cooking will now save the day. This reminds me of Usopps role in Enies Lobby: Oda could have just given him a fight with a CP9 member, but instead chose to focus on his actual role in the crew, and thus, he saved Robin by being an awesome sharpshooter. And as I remember correctly, everybody was bitching about that back then, too, and now we can all probably agree that this was the best thing Oda could have done. This is basically the exact same thing, but I guess "baking a cake" is just not badass enough for some people, which is such a shallow complaint.
You guys have obviously never played video games. A boss always lets the mooks loose on the heroes before they move in.
You know, that is actually a pretty good point, because that is not just how things usually play out in video games, but also in genres like Shonen. There were probably tons of incidents in One Piece where the main villain or main henchman or whatever first "let the mooks loose" as you say, before he goes into action himself. It's pretty standard really.

I agree that things have slowed down a bit the last few chapters, but stuff like that always feels a lot more extreme when reading one chapter per week, especially if they are accompanied by a couple of breaks like we had recently. Chapters like this one and the last couple ones work a lot better in volume format, because do serve a purpose: They allow the arc to breath and to build things up for the next huge plot event.
Why am I the only one thinking both sides(strawhats and katakuri perospero)have to ally in order to survive and Tottoland not to be destroyed
Can you recommend some of these places?

Sure, sent you a PM.
I dunno, I just don't expect every arc to be Sabaody Archipelago unpredictable lol. If they all were like that, then the unpredictability would become predictable. It's unpredictable that someone accidentally puts a piece of glass in my pasta, doesn't make the pasta better.
And yes, Sanji's cake-making is going to rely a LOT on execution. It'll be hard to pull off, so I admire Oda's cajones on trying to do it. He _is_ trying to make cake-baking badass, and good luck to him on that.
So.. Perospero's basically on Strawhat's side for completing that cake right?
The truth is I fell for Pudding this chapter. She's acting like Chopper when he gets complimented… He has satisfaction all over his face but acts 'rude-cute' to fight against it, only that in her case is love . I agree with those saying she doesn't have a split personality, but her psyche has been damaged, and the cure is Sanji. As cliche as the trope might sound, having a one time only cliche arc in an 800 chapter manga is not too bad, I'm kind of rooting for them. Poor lady, she has fallen for Sanji heels to toes.. good for you buddy.
In the case of Hancock she's a tsundere in the Helga Pataki "tsun to everyone else but dere when it comes tothe one she likes" sense, minus the bad attitude towards her Arnold when face to face. Meanwhile you have Mansherry, who's the opposite of that that Leo.
Yeah, though, Violet doesn't really count as one.
never consideed a person more gentle to the guy/girl they are in love with as "tsundere", but more like as people in love..i think it's kind of normal for anyone to be more gentle to the person you are in love with..but i'm totally not an expert on the terminology..all i remember s what i read one time on wikipedia when i encountered the term before
also,i wouldn't say mansherry is a tsundere..it's more about leo being incredibly rude to her ad incredibly obtuse@Kaido:
Sanji claiming to like Pudding's personality would have been a lie. Because he knew she was a murderous psychopath, and let's be clear: that's what she is. She knew that too.

what would sanji like about pudding personality? the fact that she wants him dead? or that she is a good actress?
sanji know nothing apart from said things about pudding, and it isn't exactly something you can appreciate a person for..all he did was find her third eye cute and praise her for it..if i remember correctly he actually says in the same chapter that there was not something deeper behind it,and he just found her ,third eye included, cute and he said it out loud.
while i usually hate when people said the same thing to me, i'm kind of forced to…I think you are trying to read something in Sanji's compliment that wasn't there, like, at all.
Pudding isn't outright bad…I did got a bit of a chuckle when the strawhats point out how emotionally flippant she is.
But Sanji...why do you still care for Pudding when she tried to kill you and your family...
because Sanji's libido overwhelms his logic
Sanji…why do you still care for Pudding when she tried to kill you and your family...
Because characters in OnePiece always remain as they are.
Boa Hancock isn't a tsundere. She falls under the kuudere archetype.
Because characters in OnePiece always remain as they are.
A character right below your post contradicts that. Boa Hancock initially was cold and callous towards Luffy, and was an Ice Queen (the trope), but then she fell for Luffy and her character is very different because of it.
