It really depends on your definiton of evil. Let's say I become a professional hitman to help feed my children (high improbable I know). One one hand I kill people, on the other, I'm doing it because I love my children and want them to live. IMO Blackbeard is not all evil, but he's not entirely good which I love because it leaves him open to interpretation and gives us somehting worth discussing.
The Blackbeard Battle
-
-
if bb was innocent, why did he run away and form a crew?
-
if the D trait is anything to go by….... Teach might not be as evil as he is........ but we need to know more about Teach first...
-
if bb was innocent, why did he run away and form a crew?
Before I find it necessary to take a big mallet and forcibly ram what I am trying to say into the empty cavity where peoples brains were until the gnomes apparently took them, let me try this loud and slow.
I-WAS-SUGGESTING-THAT-WHITBEARD-MIGHT-HAVE-ORDERED-HIS-CREW-TO-DO-SOMETHING-EVIL-AND-BLACKBEARD-KILLED-THEM-TO-STOP-IT.
Everyone got it now? It's not even my working theory, it's just a suggestion. But one I think needs to be considered.
-
yeah….consider along with the other 1001 theories......
there is no way to know why Blackbeard did, what he did...and why he did......
-
Is Blackbeard evil…?
Two words:
Doc Q.
-
Doc Q being evil is no reflection on Blackbeard. After all, Zoro is considered evil and Luffy's not. That's the whole reason Luffy immediately fought him during the Whisky Peak incident without questioning what happened.
My predicition is that Luffy won't be present for the Blackbeard fight. After EL, he'll be taken before the Gorosei, who will evaluate him, and he'll be put in a detention cell much like Olivia was in.
Meanwhile, the Strawhats will find a knocked out Ace along with Buggy's crew at the next island. Ace will be revived and here will be the matchup:
Ace vs. Blackbeard
Zoro vs. Cabaji
Chopper vs. Mohji & Ritchie
Robin vs. Alvida
Franky vs. Jesus Burgess
Usopp vs. Van Auger
Sanji vs. Lafitte
Nami vs. Doc Q -
Nami vs Doc Q?…..now that's a weird matchup....
-
Not necessarily.
I think Doc Q. Doubles as the navigator and the doctor. He's able to predict things. I think he predicted which apple Luffy would take. Plus, his exploding apples paralells Nami's Tangerines.
-
I notice the ONE FIGHT nobody questions is Usopp Vs. Van Auger. Thatr's funny.
Depending on styles, Nami VS Doc Q. might be fun.
-
Doc Q probably got more than just apples up his sleeves, there is still that thingy he is carrying….... might be an insane weapon......
-
Why not Chopper vs. Doc Q? They're both freaking doctors. That and, I have a theory that Doc Q might have a relation to Hiruluk.
Hey, if Doc' horse has a special power, maybe they'll be in another team matchup.
-
Well, how would you justify Nami vs. Mohji & Ritchie? Besides, like I said, the exploding apples paralells Nami's Tangerines.
-
@Fire Fist:
Well, how would you justify Nami vs. Mohji & Ritchie? Besides, like I said, the exploding apples paralells Nami's Tangerines.
Well…maybe Richtie won't fight. Maybe they'll get another crewmember by then.
And the connection to tangerines and apples isn't that strong. They're different fruits, and Nami doesn't carry tangerines with her. Where would this come up?
But c'mon, if sniper vs. sniper Ussop vs. Auger isn't destined, then how is there so much doubt about Chopper vs. Doc Q?
-
I agree on the destiny of the blackbeard battles. Heck, maybe Oda is saving Blackbeard for the final fight.
-
blackbeard vs Luffy
a classic captain's battleJesus Burgess vs. Sanji
mexican wrestler vs. a badass cookVan Auger vs. Ussop/Sogeking
the fight a cant wait to see..
I want to see a sniper fight anime styleDoc Q vs. Chopper
doctors fight
This fight might be funny because chopper can interact with the horseLaffite vs. Zoro
im going with the theory that laffite has a hidden sword
the fast that he is stealthy means that he can actually
ba a fast swordsmanpreview:
-

It's the whole "apples and oranges" thing. Different on the outside but beneath the surface, they have something similar in common. It's faaaate.
While it'd be cool to see Nami fight Doc Q, I'm pretty sure the girls will sit this one out and fix their hair or something. They're not allowed to have big-time male opponents.
Flamboyant, eloquent, tap-dancing Lafitte sounds like he's destined for Sanji. Zoro rarely gets the "weird" opponents.
-
Uhm…hello? Zoro VS A GIRAFEE?
That said, I don't think Robin and Nami will sit out. They'll all have opponents, I'm sure.
-
Since Ace is with Buggy currently, the most likely answer is Buggy's Pirates & The Blackbeard Pirates vs. Ace & Mugiwara.
-
Blackbeard is Ace's fight…..
I still hope that Luffy will seat on the bench for this fight........
I think Doctor vs Doctor is better....... Rumble Ball vs Doc Q's medicine......
-
It'll be a good match for Chopper to show off his final point, the mixed one (Like Lucci has) that I predicted he would get as his final form since Monster Point is uncontrollable.
-
Uhm…hello? Zoro VS A GIRAFEE?
ALL of CP9 are circus freaks. Taking that into cosideration, Zoro got the most serious guy of the bunch, save Lucci who is Luffy's opponent.
Doctor vs Doctor is predictable. I don't mind sniper vs sniper, but sometimes the match-ups could stand to get mixed up a bit.
-
@Taz:

"The full potential of a wild giraffe!"
"Rats! I've pushed in my neck too much that my arms and legs extended!"
"It's acting like a dough that's been squished into a pasta machine!"
"Pasta Machine!"
"Now you're just making up attack names!!!"
-
Kaku only just got his powers, you can blame him for trying to adapt to it…..
however, from the fight....you can see he really fight the hardest......
-
I find it interesting that Ace is ever likely to get a fight on the side of the straw hats in a serious battle. He's the ENEMY people, remember? He stands directly in the way of Luffy becoming the pirate king.
-
No he is not if he was he would have done something about it in Alabasta, stop reaching for stuff that isn't there.
-
No he is not if he was he would have done something about it in Alabasta, stop reaching for stuff that isn't there.
Ace works for Whitebeard, and wants Whitebeard to be Pirate King. Ace wants Luffy to join Whitebeard's crew, even. In the end, ace will HAVE to try and stop luffy to reach his goal of making Whitebeard pirate king.
This is hard again….why?
-
No.. Ace will have to try to stop Zoro.. or Sanji.. or Ussop, Whitebeard as crew captain will have to stop Luffy.
And Ace wants Luffy to join Whitebeard, so who says he's given up on that hope?
-
-
never mind, my mistake
-
@Fire Fist:
Since Ace is with Buggy currently, the most likely answer is Buggy's Pirates & The Blackbeard Pirates vs. Ace & Mugiwara.
finally someone agrees with me
-
No.. Ace will have to try to stop Zoro.. or Sanji.. or Ussop, Whitebeard as crew captain will have to stop Luffy.
Ace is head of his second division, right? The divisions would be seperate, and not have to fight together. Ace WOULD be the captain battle.
And Ace wants Luffy to join Whitebeard, so who says he's given up on that hope?
Well, when luffy punches him in the face, it will probably be a hint…or maybe, in true manga style, they'll bet luffy's alliegance on the outcome of the fight.
-
Don't forget that Ace is also a D…....... he, Luffy, Teach, Saul and Roger will never give up doing the things they want to do...... so, you can say that Ace won't give up on what he will do..... so will the other Ds.....
-

This is hard again….why?
Exactly. Ace will kick the shit out of Luffy if he will try to attack Whitebeard (which he probably will, but that will only happen if Ace understand that Luffy CAN take Whitebeard down). Just like Zoro would if Johhny and Josack were strong guys and they attacked Luffy.
I wonder, why is Ace so obsessed about Whitebeard? He maybe saved his life and gave him his DF?
-
You notice something? When Whitebeard is mentioned to Luffy, Luffy doesn't ask who it is. He merely says it's one more person he has to beat.
This implies (to me, at least) that Luffy knows who Whitebeard is. He probably has some connection to both of their pasts.
-
Or maybe it's because he's got the title of strongest man in the world. I think when you tie with Gol D. Roger, and are presently the closest to One Piece, people know who you are.
-

luffy asks who he is or he said he never heard of his crew or something like that, except if it was an anime filler
luffy can't peal a potato, couldn't remember smoker in alabasta when he was eating in the first minute and calls people with weird names like monster lady, pigeon guy cuz he can't remember their real names,
ha what a stupid guy
-
Luffy has a short memory span…..... so, telling him something, he will probably forget the next second........
-
But c'mon, if sniper vs. sniper Ussop vs. Auger isn't destined, then how is there so much doubt about Chopper vs. Doc Q?
Sniper is a class of fighter and no other person is suitable to take on a world class sniper except another sniper just like only another swordsman should fight a world class swordsman. Doctor is a non fighting position so it's not essential that a doctor be paired with another doctor in a fight. If you say otherwise then should Sanji only get opponents that are cooks, or Nami only opponents that are navigators? In Doc Q's case him being a doctor may just be a red herring or it may figure into his fighting style, for example, he may have knowledge of pressure points or vital areas to strike for maximum effectiveness.

So it's a coincidence that Zoro has fought all the swordsmen and Sanji has fought all the cook (or the only cook, Wanze) so far. I dunno, if Chopper saw Doc Q, aka the grim reaper, doing some improper medical practices he'd probably get pissed off, just like Sanji vs. Wanze again.
-
You mean Sanji has always fought the main martial artists. The only cook I recall him fighting was Wanze.
As some other people have said before, that Burgess guy looks like someone Franky would fight.
-
@Kidany:

Yes, he's only fought martial artists, but he' also fought the only enemy that's been a cook. That's all I'm saying, that Chopper won't ignore someone of his profession.
And yeah, Franky v. Burgess would be nice. Both strong guys with egos. And Burgess, being a wrestler, could pull a backbreaker on him.
-
This hasn't mentioned yet, but is it possible that perhaps Blackbeard recruited a new member since we saw them last? I know it has probably been no more than a week week and half tops OP time since Luffy encountered BB and his crew but it's possible.

I wouldn't like it, but it's not impossible. It happened with the CP9 after all.
-
Been about two weeks.
They spent 1 day in Upper Yard, had their fights, beat everyone… then 3 days partying. Then they went to Longringlongland and did the Davy Back fight, which took about a day, then they spent 8 days recovering after Ao-Kiji beat the snot out of them, and they reached Water 7 during mid-day, got on the seatrain around 6-7 PM, and now it's morning in Enies Lobby.
So all in all, 14 days.
-

No, reread what I wrote. A top class swordsman has a unique fighting style that only another swordsman can handle. The same goes for a top class sniper. That's why it's certain or near certain that Zoro will fight the swordsman and Usopp will fight the sniper or long range fighter. What I mean to say is the only way someone can be reasonably certain about a matchup is if the fighting styles of the two fighters match. Doctor is not a fighting style so Chopper fighting Doc Q is not a certain thing. There is plenty of room for doubt.
With that I still say that Doc Q carries a sword so he will fight Zoro. I also think the four BB pirates lined up in that one panel in Jaya are the strongest of the group. Zoro will have to fight one of these four since another near certainty is Zoro will fight the second strongest fighter, the most likely one out of the 4 being Doc Q. Imagine someone who appears as weak and sickly as Doc Q turning out to be the second strongest of the group, another reason why I would like to see this matchup. Lafitte is not up for consideration since I feel he is like Rockstar an errand boy so he's the weaker of the group.
-
Lafitte can get into the Marines HQ undetected….that says something about his abilities....... and some people have been saying that cane of his can be a sword..........
-

Lafitte sending a message doesn't mean he's weak among the crew, especially since he stood unintimidated among shichibukai, and snuck into Majoria unseen. He must really be something.
Now, my point was that fighters with the same profession tend to fight in One Piece. First of all, it give the characters a way to relate to each other. I doubt that Chopper would ignore a fighting doctor.
As for fighting style, don't forget that Doc Q also has bombs and apple weapons. Now, swordsmanship and bomb fighting are possible, but not likely. It doesn't seem like those two things can mesh. Meanwhile, remember how Chopper took all those bombs in the Mr. 4 fight?
And am I the only one who thinks that Doc Q resembles Hirulik a little? There face and hair color are similar, and Hirulik said he was in a pirate crew.
Though that would mean the Hirulik has a relation to the Blackbeard crew that attacked Drum Island. Hmm…
-
Lafiette is definitely strong. He was just too cool while hanging out withsuperpowers.
A Lafiette-Zoro battle would be good.
-
Here's what I think about the Doc Q fight.
1. The concealed weapon could be a giant scapel.
2. Zoro and Chopper can fight him together. Zoro could ride Chopper to face Doc Q and his horse(?) in a zany joust-type battle.
